Enjoy a spectacular drive along the breathtaking Hwy 1 to a serene and lovely forest road to arrive at this unique and "glamour-rustic" home (upper level) with views of the redwoods from all around the house. You'll feel like you're living inside a giant tree! We get plenty of indirect sun most of the year even though we're in the forest. Close to gorgeous local hiking, shopping and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, special events all year. Of course you also may just want to relax and feel your connection to nature. This property is owned by local artist in residence where you might find her working in her studio or gallery. The dome house is the jewel on this property. A luscious bedroom loft with sunken tub, forest views, 2 bathrooms, futon in living room for 2 more and a little nook with a single bed. You might want to bring a laptop with movies as we don't have tv here. We do have a flat screen dvd player and some dvd's available too. The house is open so it's especially perfect for a couple. It has a luxurious ambience with several super comfy areas to sit and relax or read. The Dome is primarily heated by wood stove and in winter it can be a bit chilly so bring layers. There's also a small heater to help take the chill out while making a fire. We enjoy providing a special area stocked with paints and journals for guests to paint and enjoy expressing. Enjoy a nap or read in the hammock while listening to the stream. Meditate in the garden while reading a book.....while visiting this "Oasis of Inspiration". 1br Cabin
This is a secluded gem of a cabin with craftsman touches in a very lovely setting. It sits in a private corner of the property with magical filtered light through the oak and redwood forest. South facing with a beautiful mountain/canyon view it is very spacious (aprox 600sf) with the tinted plaster walls and arches giving it a very warm, old world feel. The quaint little bedroom is accessed by an outdoor covered staircase and has a spectacular view of the canyon. There is very nice deck space on three sides of the cabin, where one can sit in sun or shade and enjoy the abundant bird life or enjoy the views while soaking in the clawfoot tub that sits in our newly added redwood gardenroom. Deer are commonly seen, with the occasional glimpse of a bobcat or fox. We now have a wood-fired sauna on the property, which is available to our guests as well as ourselves. The sauna has a large, covered deck and sits in a quiet location shaded beneath a giant live oak, with a beautiful canyon view. The perfect place to calm your spirit and feel the bounty of nature. (Pictures coming soon). The property is conveniently located halfway between Carmel/Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur Proper. Three miles inland and over 1,100 ft in elevation, we are usually above the fog , which creates unique views as it moves in and out of the canyon like slow tide. We are 4/10ths of a mile up a well maintained dirt rd.......access is rarely a problem and then only during heavy storms in the winter months at these times 4WD is recommended , though not often necessary

For those of you "ecologically minded" folk, our guests' stay is fully sustained by solar power and a spring-fed stream. The cottages sleep two persons, have internet access and a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. There is a queen futon couch that converts into a bed for extra guests. We have just installed beautiful NEW BAMBOO FLOORS that add charm and comfort to your stay! Beauty, peace and serenity are the themes of your stay. Nature abounds not only in the special setting of the cottages and their views, but also on our forty acres of property. Organic Meyer lemons and fruit trees in season delight the senses and tempt the palate. Most guests are drawn to our property as a place to renew and refresh away from the fast pace of urban life. It is perfect for folks who wish to write, paint, retreat,or simply decompress. THIS IS A NO SMOKING PROPERTY! This destination is for the adventurous traveler! Our farm and cottages are located 12 miles south of Carmel, California off scenic Highway One, two miles from the coast on a paved road and one mile on a good all year round , bumpy in places , steep in others, dirt road. Upon leaving the coastal highway the anticipation builds as you drive through a gorgeous old growth redwood canyon, then leave the pavement for the last short mile on the hard packed dirt road, and suddenly arrive to experience the wonders of Country Flat Farm. We request an all or 4 wheel drive vehicle for your comfort. as 2 wheel drives chew up our road and distress the neighbors. In winter (November through March) we REQUIRE an all wheel drive. If you are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with driving on a non paved surface please consider this before booking. All visitors are met by the owners on the paved road, shown how to drive the road, and guided to the cottages upon first arriving. The cottages are furnished with "country charm". Lush towels and individual bathrobes await you. The beds feature brand new queen mattresses crafted by a local company. Allergy free comforters warm you as you snuggle under tastefully chosen sheets and quilts. We have the latest high-tech fireplace heaters that look like a wood burning stove without the hassle. We recently installed beautiful new bamboo floors for the comfort of our guests. There is no tv, phone, or cell phone service, so please plan accordingly. There is, however, internet access so that you may use your computer to communicate with the outside world if necessary. People find that they can skype from the cottages if they have that capability on their electronic devices. If you wish to watch movies we ask that you bring DVD's with you rather stream them from the internet. Some of our neighbors work from home and this lessens the bandwith for their livelihoods. The kitchens have a stove, refrigerator, toaster, dishes, cutlery, glasses, dishtowels, pots and pans, coffee maker, and tea kettle. All you need to bring is your own food and drink. The owners are beekeepers, so fresh sage honey is available during your stay! We also furnish coffee, tea, oil and vinegar, spices and when available 1/2 dozen fresh farm eggs. (Se habla espanol.)Please visit us online at countryflatfarm.

Belinda’s Barn is located on the ridge overlooking Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur. The guest apartment is part of a converted barn. We welcome both 30 day and long-term rentals. Long term rentals are between 30 days and 6 months. The Barn is our home in beautiful Big Sur. The white water views and the south coast views are awe-inspiring. Our guest house is attached, but we prefer not to be there when guests are in residence. If you haven’t been to Big Sur now is the time to plan your visit. There are plenty of hiking trails for beginners and experienced hikers. Come and enjoy our magnificent scenery. Enjoy our beaches. Pfeiffer Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We can’t believe how lucky we are with nothing to impede our view. Photographers line up on the beach to capture the waves crashing through the natural bridge at sunset. The waterfall cascading into the ocean at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is mesmerizing. I love to sit at the peak of the Andrew Molera State Park Headlands Trail, and watch the cresting waves from behind them as they spray rainbow colors. My husband and I purchased our barn home more than a decade ago. At that time the road to the barn was a mud and bumpy track up the mountain. It was scary. The road was dry and dusty in summer and a treacherous mudslide in winter. Recently the road up to our home has been paved. I never thought I could be so excited about asphalt. We have put a lot of time and love into making our home a delightful place to share with friends and family. We hope you will enjoy your time there. We have had many guests enjoying romantic get-aways, even some engagements and a wedding! Sadly, we can no longer accommodate weddings. Belinda’s Barn is wonderful place in which to read or write a book, meditate, or enjoy the simplicity of living like a Big Sur local. It is a fabulous romantic get-away. If you would like to stay here please check with me for availability. With the exception of holidays, the cost per night is $450– plus tax for 2 people, $600 plus tax for 4 people. Tax is 10.5% per Monterey County Transient Occupancy Tax. We do have a strictly enforced minimum 2 night stay. Smoking is prohibited. Sadly we cannot accommodate children or pets. In addition to two bedrooms, the living area consists of an open kitchen – dining –living room. There is a cozy reading nook with views down along the south coast. The nook is often a favorite place to sleep. Some guests cannot tear themselves away from the nook at night. Star gazing is a must from the nook. There is nothing quite like the diamond-studded velvet Big Sur sky. Our spacious ground-floor second guest bedroom is blocked off when two guests only are staying. Our reception are functions as an office/study with a desk for those who might like to work away from others. I love to cook, so the kitchen is well equipped. We have lots of books and music for your enjoyment. We have a television. We have high-speed wireless internet service. Talk to me about food shopping before you come. Staying at the barn will give you the authentic Big Sur experience. This includes the joy of power-outages in a storm! Be prepared. Bring flash-lights and bottles of water. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Located on a promontory, 1200 feet above the Pacific, Sobre Sur Grande offers unobstructed views of the ocean, Rocky Creek Watershed and the Ventana Wilderness. Yet it is only 30 minutes from Carmel and a few more to the center of Big Sur, along one of most beautiful 'commutes' in the world. You might just choose to stay home watching the raptors glide on the thermals rising up from the canyon below, then call our private chef, yoga teachers and body workers to come to you. If you're seeking adventure, jump in your car for a lovely drive to Carmel for golf, wineries, shopping and an indulgent dinner, or simply drive a couple of miles to any number of amazing hiking trails Sobre Sur Grande is 2.5 miles up Palo Colorado Road, with it's majestic redwoods and year round creek, then an additional 3/10 miles up a private road. Mill Creek Redwood Preserve is close by and the Botcher's Gap access to Ventana Wilderness provides the most amazing hiking opportunities. Down at the coast, Rocky Creek Restaurant offers incredible ocean front views and a great place to walk (or drive) . You're close to the best beach in Big Sur where Garrapata Creek empties into the Pacific. It's spectacular, yet completely accessible to families. Just remember Big Sur is a magical place....My motto is 'Start Slow....then Taper Off'

The SpaceThe redwoods obscure cell phone signals, so we have a landline phone available for use (unlimited local & long distance calls). There is no television or WiFi, but plenty of peace and quiet and connectivity with nature and friends. Guest AccessThere is a sizable garden with a fully-equipped propane grill and outdoor seating, and the area is fenced in for your privacy. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to answer any questions you may have and provide recommendations of hikes and other local attractions during your stay. The NeighborhoodWe are an eccentric collection of people from all over the world who have chosen to call this canyon home. I serve on the local fire brigade with neighbors. We are a strong community of rugged individuals. Rocky Point Restaurant is minutes away. It it perched on a cliff overlooking the rugged beauty of the Big Sur coast. Always a favorite. Nephenthe and Cafe Kevah further South are also not to be missed. We are happy to provide hiking recommendations catered to your interests! Getting AroundThis area has limited public transportation. Vehicle required. Other Things to NoteCONSERVATION Water is precious and scarce in California. Our water is supplied by a natural spring. Please use the water respectfully. We share it with the venerable redwoods and wildlife in the canyon. Excess water usage can also lead to our water tank running dry. The water is crystal clear (I drink it every day), but since it is spring sourced we will provide purified drinking water for your stay.
