This house was built in 1964. It has updated floors (no carpet). It has popcorn ceilings. It's clean and comfortable, but I won't be surprised if you say, "My grandma's house has [fill-in-the-blank] too." We love it, but we know it's not for everyone.
The house is 2100 sf and the guest room is 15'x15' (that's big). The bathroom is accessed from the bedroom and is not used by anyone other than the guest(s). We have other spaces available too, but they are typically not listed. There's a pull out couch in the living room that has basically no privacy and access to a shared bath. We also have the back porch available, but this is far closer to "almost camping" than the other accommodations. If you are traveling with a big group in the spring or fall it's worth asking about.
We are super excited to add a gym to our listing. It's pretty simple and we're working to add to it, but here's what we've got so far:
* A small TV with DVD player and a variety of DVD's from yoga and Pilates to Jillian Michaels workouts
* A weight bench with a limited number of weights for bench press or squats
* A leg machine
* A curl machine
* Dumbbells ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) lbs)
* Small Kettle bells
* Jump ropes
* Those stretchy band thingys
* A bosu ball
* An exercise ball
* Yoga blocks
* Yoga mats
* Foam roller
* An inversion table
This gym doesn't include cardio equipment (except jump ropes and videos).
This place is set up for serious parking. Bring your RV with a tow-behind and you can pull straight through. There are two large circle driveways, one in front of the house and the other in back. We recently had a 24' moving truck park here with no problems and plenty of room for other cars.
If you are going to be with us for a few days and want to do a load or two of laundry, that is totally fine. We've got a regular washer and dryer.
We have a cabinet full of board games and we nearly always have a puzzle available. Also, the chess set has a semi-permanent set up.
There's an enclosed back porch that is really great in the winter and way too hot in the summer. There's a fire pit in the back yard that looks out onto the field. We're happy to build a fire if you're interested.
BIKES & TRAILS
The bike path/walking trail runs along the canal right next to the house. The path goes south east across Temperance Ave for about a ½ mile and provides a circuitous route to Starbucks. It goes north for quite a few miles and the north route connects to other trails that will take you all over the place.
MORE THAN 2 GUESTS
We have several options: 1) the furniture can be rearranged and we have some mats that can be used to make an oversize twin (each mat is 4 inches thick and we have 3 that can stack), 2) we have a cot that is super comfy and sleeping bags for bigs or littles, 3) we have a couch that pulls out into a bed in the living room (this is really only suitable for 1 adult or a couple of kiddos). If one of those options stands out, great, let us know in advance and we'll have it ready for you. Also, totally fine to wait and take a look when you get here. Guest AccessObviously, there's access to the guest area. You are also welcome to use the laundry room, kitchen, back porch, living room and other common areas of the house. Interaction with GuestsWords the describe the host??? Flexible and Adaptable.
If you want privacy and seclusion, we will leave you alone.
If you want to converse, we will chat you up.
We pretty much roll with our guests. The NeighborhoodWe've got our favorites listed in the room.
For a good burger, House of Juju
For a cheap movie, UA 8 Clovis
For a nice walk, the trail is on the north side of the house
Bring a bucket of balls and turn the back field into a driving range (we found a lot of golf balls back there) Other Things to NoteIn the room, we've got a list of all our favorites from food to entertainment.
If you need anything, please ask. We’ve probably got it.
There are towels in the room and washcloths in the small white cabinet in the bathroom. There are extra pillows, sheets, pillow cases and blankets in the closet.
There is soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and a fresh scrubbie thing in the drawer on the left of the sink (we throw the scrubbie out if you use it, so feel free to take it with you).
If you need refrigeration for anything, there’s a fridge in the kitchen and one on the back porch. Feel free to keep things in either fridge, just make sure they’re marked (there’s a pen on the side of the fridge). If you're staying a few days, we also have a dedicated cupboard for guests where you can keep your dry goods.
We might be able to provide coffee and a light breakfast. Life turns crazy some times and we can't guarantee that we can pull that off every morning... With that being said, this usually means there will be some eggs and toast –OR—yogurt and granola –OR—cereal and fruit. There’s a chance there could be homemade banana bread. This is more likely to happen if you let us know you really like banana bread. There’s also always coffee and milk. We are happy to make the best accommodation we can.
