NOTE: Late-night check-in is okay here as it has its own private entrance. We will leave the door unlocked for you and key on top of microwave. The Cabin is a very unique, eco-friendly, repurposed structure from a former workshop/art studio. Well insulated, its walls are made from a special material with a foam core inside (not visible and does not include bedroom walls). New Upgrades: There have been many recent upgrades, including stronger wifi (works perfectly), strong water pressure (but please do not take long showers), and tile floors freshly redone (please do not drag or roll suitcases across tiles or they will scratch!). It is very centrally located: 30 miles from the gate at Yosemite, 15 miles to Oakhurst (on the way to Yosemite) where there are shops, thrift stores, restaurants, and grocery stores; 24 miles to Bass Lake where you can swim, rent boats, hike, picnic, etc. during warm weather lake is at a low level due to drought); 30 miles to Fresno. Friendly hosts are further down the driveway. You are welcome to visit the main house, meet us, and have some great/fun conversations, or not. Just ring the bell on the right side of the house (past the stairs) at the big wooden doors. In dry summer conditions, use of BBQs is discouraged. However, smoking is ok in designated outdoor areas as long as an ashtray is used. Please ask for one of us to show you where outdoor smoking is permitted and we will supply you with an ashtray. The Casita easily holds 4 people. However, it will hold more if two people can share a futon, or someone brings a crib or playpen, or wants to use a sleeping bag inside or outside on the deck, so please do contact us ahead of time to make special arrangements for extra guests. Also note that children, certainly welcome, DO count as guests at any age whether they use a bed or not. It has been our experience that every guest has an impact on the dwelling, whether it's cleaning, or heat /AC utilities, or water, or noise, wear and tear/stains on the furniture or rugs, or all of the above. People who try to sneak extra guests in without paying for them will be confronted with my Irish temper and reported to Airbnb! NOTE: lower Winter rates are now in effect, and you do not have to contact us first if you would like to stay here. Just check our calendar and if it's available, simply Instant Book it! Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting and interacting with our guests, and you are always welcome in the main house during the hours of 10 am to 8 pm. When you arrive, at your request, Ginger or Michael can go over the maps for Yosemite with you down at the main house so your visit will go smoothly and you will know where the main attractions are in the Park. Just come down to the main house upon your arrival, or if coming in late come down after 9 am next morning and ring bell on right side of house. (See hours above.) Some people come up here to just get away from it all for a while. If you prefer total privacy, just let us know via email ahead of time and we will certainly honor your wishes. It is very common that people just come up here to our peaceful place to take in nature and de-stress :-) The NeighborhoodOur home is in a beautiful valley off Hwy. 41. The homes are mostly ranch properties snd the neighborhood is usually very quiet and very safe. We have access to my neighbor's unusual blue-eyed Appaloosa horses who love people that come to our fence to feed them carrots. We usually have carrots on hand--just ask. Sorry, these horses are not for riding. Be sure to stay on our side of the fence. We also have a rescue sheep named Gladys. She stays with the horses and they protect her from predators. She is wild and untouchable but does appreciate carrots, too. Just throw them near her but not at her. Last, Gladys looks motley because no one can catch her to shear her. She doesn't mind. She thinks she's a horse, anyway :-) Getting AroundThere is public transportation to Yosemite via YART buses, but the bus stop is 4-5 miles away from our home in Coarsegold. Search YART on the internet for more information. Other Things to NotePlease note that there are no TVs here. Wi-Fi works great.

Raymond is approximatley 33 miles from Yosemite National Park entrance, it is a beautiful ride through Coarsegold up through Oakhurst and into the park. When you visit the General Store it's like stepping back in time with the orginial wooden floors and tin ceiling. Stop and have breakfast or lunch on your way to Yosemite National Park. Coming into Raymond today you can get an idea of how the earlier travelers to Yosemite National Park felt as they started up the stagecoach raod. You can take the same route President Theodore Roosevelt took with John Muir when they came into Raymond from San Francisco to visit Yosemite National Park. The Knowles Quarry, now called Cold Spring Quarry is still producing granite today and is open for visitors. The Raymond Museum is in The Charles Miller House, the first and oldest house in Raymond. Mr. Miller was the first stagecoach agent and Southern Pacific agent for travelers into Yosemite National Park. The Museum provides a glimpse into how people llived in the 1880's. The SpaceStudio has a tree-house feel, beautiful views of soaring golden eagles, deer, other wildlife, and the abundant oak & pine trees up here in the Yosemite foothills. The bright and airy interior is decorated festively in keeping with the vacation-get-away theme here. It is the only apartment upstairs from the upscale Spanish home below it so has lots of privacy, does not share anything, and is away from our pets. If you are a fun person, love color and a very quiet but cheerful surrounding, this is for you! Note: LATE CHECK-IN OKAY for this unit because it has its own private entrance. There is a full kitchen and a counter with stools to eat at, a microwave and large refrigerator, a stove and range. It has a Mexican tile mural above the range, and a view of the courtyard and fountain below. There is also a full bath with custom tile, a shower/tub, and a combo living room/bedroom with a brand new queen-sized bed and also a single futon. Two nice bonuses are it now has newer carpet, and a covered balcony with small table and chairs overlooking the meadow, and a little further away my neighbor's pasture where their Appaloosa horses (and my one motley rescue sheep, Gladys) eat. This is a great place to chill, have a glass of wine and/or a cigarette on the balcony (there is no smoking in the room itself, and please shut room's front door while smoking on the balcony), listen to the tinkling windchimes hanging from a logpole above you, and enjoy the (usual) afternoon breeze. Bring a book (or Kindle) or write one:-], study, watch the occasional deer stroll by, squirrels playing, cotton-tail rabbits, ravens, quail, hummingbirds and lots and lots of other birds with their beautiful songs. The only drawback here is that you must climb 1 flight of stairs to get to this unit, and there isn't much storage space - has only a small closet. Distance from the Yosemite entrance is approx. 30 miles, which takes betw 40-60 minutes to drive, depending on traffic. The Gate is very close to the Mariposa Grove (huge Sequoia trees), 10-15 mi. to the Wawona area next to the Merced River with its covered bridge, and museum of Old West homes and artifacts. From there it is another 30 min. approx. to the Yosemite Valley or Glacier Point. We have great maps of Yosemite showing where all the waterfalls, hiking trails, etc., are, and also info on Bass Lake, which is only 25 miles away from our house. You can rent boats, hike, or even swim there. I am happy to go over the maps with you and make sure you don't miss anything important and don't get lost. I will also explain where the grocery stores are or anything else you need. Just come down to the main house if you arrive during the day and ring the bell, or if you arrive late, ring the bell the next morning after 10 am. ARRIVAL TIMES: Although check-in time is at 3 pm daily, we are flexible depending on our other guests schedules. You are always welcome to come early and drop off your luggage, go over the Yosemite maps, and take off for Yosemite afterward, making the most of your day and knowing your way home :-] Michael and I live downstairs and are usually home and available to talk or chat with, if you are interested in getting to know a local. We are warm, friendly hosts and enjoy meeting and talking with guests, so if you'd like to chat or have some questions about the area or whatever, just ring our doorbell :-) We also respect those who just want their privacy, so don't feel obligated to visit the main house if that's not for you. Our home is in a country setting with lots of oak, pines and huge, ancient boulders on the property. It is normally a very quiet place to chill out and relax. We also have some historic remnants of a very rough "Chinese Wall" made during the Gold Rush days (1800s) when miners panned the creek at the bottom of our 5-acre property. We will be happy to show you where that is if you are interested in seeing it. Groceries are available at a market in downtown Coarsegold, about 5 miles further north on Hwy 41, and the big supermarkets, sporting goods stores, restaurants, etc., are in Oakhurst, which is about 15 miles from our house, also further north on Hwy 41. It's a good idea to bring some groceries with you so you won't have to go shopping when you arrive. Or, there is a large casino just 8 minutes away that has a huge buffet, noodle bar, '50s cafe, and a regular restaurant with good food. Finally, there is a washer and dryer available in the garage for your convenience during day-time hours. I look forward to your visit! Interaction with GuestsWe are generally here and can go over maps of Yosemite with you that suit your goals so you don't miss anything important. Maps are usually given upon your arrival (up to 8 PM) or in the morning between 9-10 am. We do not do this over the phone. If you need an early check-in then just ask. If the room has been cleaned and is ready to go, you can check in early at no extra charge, go over the map and take off for Yosemite fully informed! The NeighborhoodThis is a very safe neighborhood! Getting AroundSorry but this is the country and there is no available public transit. Other Things to NotePlease note that children DO count as guests and book accordingly, thank you.

*** We have two ski vacation rentals available. So if you are traveling with a large group you can book both that are within walking distance. Please inquire *** Top Ten Reasons To Choose this place: 1. Location tops the list. We are approximately 7 miles away or 20 minutes away from all four major ski resorts. I need to mention the location is really strategic for some skiers because often times in the ski season, Alta and Snowbird will get enough snow that they occasionally are forced to close down the road for several hours due to Avalanche control. On these days, we make a right out of the community and ski Solitude or Brighton which is nearly the same distance, it's really cool. You are located conveniently between 4 of Utah's best ski resorts. You are also close to restaurants, super-markets, coffee shops, therapeutic massage clinic, shopping, freeway and airport. 2. Don't want to drive the car to the ski resort? It's easy enough to take the Ski shuttle bus which is steps away from the house and cost only a few bucks. My husband's ski "thing" is that he has to wake up at the crack of dawn to be one of the first on the mountain to make fresh tracks on the snow. Me? Forget about it, I need to have my toasted english muffin and coffee, then I'll get in the car, put some chapstick on and meet him at the resort at my leisurely pace. This is a win win situation and everyone is happy, hooray!! The shuttle takes about 20 mins to get up the mountain and drops you off right at the slopes. 3. Two Car Private Garage. Remote control access to your own private garage that fits two full size vehicles. It may not seem like a big deal, but when it's snowing and you have already spent several hours in the snow, it's nice to click that button, drive straight in, close the garage door, and walk straight into the dry warmth of the house. It's a bonus not having to trek through the snow and park in a communal garage or on the street. 4. At the end of a powder ski day the only thing that any skier cares about is slipping into a comfy warm bed. The bed configuration is as follows: Bedroom 1: One king - sleeps two (posture pedic mattress) Bedroom 2: One Queen - sleeps two Bedroom 3: Two Queens - sleeps four Bedroom 4: Four Twins (trundle bed) - sleeps four House is designed to comfortably sleep 8 to 12 people. The SpaceThis is a 2 bedroom 1 bath attached private apartment on 3 acres. You'll have your own private entrance, with ample and safe parking in a quiet neighborhood. Central A/C and heat keep you comfortable no matter the weather outside. We have never owned pets since the construction of this space thus it can be considered truly pet hair and dander free. The master bedroom has a new queen memory foam mattress, a side table, a mirror, and a cabinet full of board games. A sliding glass door leads to a small table and two chairs outside, and has a private door to the bathroom. The walk-in closet has hangers and an exercise bike you can easily roll out and plug in. The kitchenette has a mini-fridge with a freezer compartment. There is a 2 burner hot plate, a microwave, and toaster, and my favorite part, the coffee bar (with tea, too) which we hope will help you start your day off right. Almost everything in the kitchenette is new and includes flatware and place settings for 8, and basic kitchen tools. Ask if there is something specific you need. There is also an outdoor charcoal barbecue available for your use. The dining set seats 4 and would work nicely for a laptop work space. The second bedroom has a new queen pillow-top mattress a side table with mirror and a chest at the foot of the bed, that would work well for a suitcase. The peg rack is for any items you need to hang using hangers from the master bedroom closet. The bathroom's huge shower, which you share with a hanging plant, has an upgraded shower head, conditioning shampoo and shower gel, and if you forget something essential we may have what your missing, so just ask. Guest AccessWhen you arrive you will park in the large parking area on left side of house which is outside of the private entrance. Specific check-in arrangements will be made after booking, but generally someone will be here to give you a key and and answer any questions. For your safety, only the reserving guest with a valid picture ID will be receiving the keys. There is plenty of parking room for boats and RVs (but no hookups). Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property and are available to answer questions, address issues, offer local dining and recreation suggestions or to chat over a beverage of choice. We and our well behaved children will respect your privacy, but it's home to us, so you may see us outside. When the weather is right, you may hear us around our backyard campfire, which you are always welcome to enjoy with us, and if not, you can count on us being quiet after 10pm. Other nearby things to do include antique shopping, visiting museums, fishing, and gold panning. We are 1 mile off of Ca State Hwy 41 and gas, groceries, drive-through coffee shop, and restaurants are all within 2 miles. Getting AroundFor info on bus service to Yosemite from Coarsegold Village visit YARTS on the web. Other Things to NoteOur property has beautiful wildflowers in the spring, and while the summers can be hot, there are some great swimming and fishing spots nearby. Fall is a great time to visit when the summer crowds have thinned and the weather is usually nice. There is a slight chance of a dusting of snow in the winter (2500 ft elev.). Keep an eye out for deer, coyote, raccoon and even an occasional wild turkey. While we have rarely seen bears, wild boar, and have never seen a mountain lion, they are known to live in or near the area. Coarsegold also has a festival in the fall to celebrate the migration of tarantulas. You may see them walking across the road at that time of year but they are harmless, even though they look creepy.
