The SpaceConverted basement with cool concrete floors, full sized futon in a smaller cubby space acts as a comfortable couch and bed for 1 . Single burner, microwave and toaster oven available for cooking. Refrigerator is conveniently located in wall. Piped in spring water for showering, CD player/radio. NOTE: This is a lower unit, so movement from the upper unit can be detected. Guest AccessFull studio access. Shared deck and access to outdoor meditation area and dog yard. Dog on site, Greta, is very human friendly. Interaction with GuestsI work at home and can be available sometimes for interaction. I can definitely help with directions and activities in the area. I see clients in my home office and ask for quiet during these times. The NeighborhoodQuiet walkable neighborhood in the tall pines, dogwoods and maples. Resort like area. Golf courses, public swimming pools, and hiking just miles away. Sweet meandering walk leads to great overview of local valley. October, 2015: NOTE: We are in the Valley Fire area and while our neighborhood was barely touched, the surrounding area can be disheartening. We lost Boggs Forest and Harbin Hot Springs to the fire. Other hiking trails are in the area. Getting AroundAccessible by automobile. Chains or 4wd needed during snow. Other Things to NoteOctober, 2015: NOTE: We are in the Valley Fire area and while our neighborhood was barely scathed, the surrounding area can be disheartening. We lost Boggs Forest and Harbin Hot Springs to the fire. Other hiking trails are in the area. Sweet space for bird watching, meditating, etc. Wifi available, but please, no streaming large files/videos. Poor cell phone reception and no land line. (Reception for most carriers will be good at the Cobb Village area where the coffee house and grocery store are located.) Yoga mat and straw mat available for guest use. Quiet time at 10:00pm. Laundry facilities available ($10) Enjoy a Reiki in the home by myself--a Reiki Master/Teacher. Please schedule in advance. Layered clothing recommended: Cobb Mountain is usually cooler than the surrounding low lying areas, but can sometimes be warmer depending on air currents, etc. The house is situated under tall pines, Douglas firs and cedars, which lends itself to cooler temps. Summer: The MOSQUITOES seem to be heavy this year. I have natural oil repellents available and forbid the use of products containing DEET or other heavy chemicals. There is POISON OAK on the property. Summer: There is a resort across the way. Sounds can sometimes filter into space, particularly at high season. We live in an active geothermal area (one of the largest geothermal electricity producing regions on the planet!) that is prone to small earthquakes on occasion. Winter: Heat is available, but bring slippers.

We have great news!!! About 1/3 of mile away is our NEW 3 bedroom Dogwood house. VRBO 922051 A brand new AC/heater, wood stove and a gigantic deck. Of course still dog friendly! This will help us accommodate the ever growing number of guest that value the nature experience that Whispering Pines has to offer. Check out our 25, 33, now 36 5 star reviews, and growing! We earned most of these in our two years of sharing the Cobbin with our guests. The reviews are unbiased testimony of our guests experience. We have reduced our damage deposit to $200 due to the care our guest have shown in using the cabin. Your Security Deposit will be refunded within a day or two. Most often on the day you leave. We do not charge extra for people or pets. We include that in the rental price. We do charge extra for cleaning. We keep our Cobbin very clean. A 5 hour clean is done between each guest. A clean environment is very important to us. Obviously that is working. Most all of our guests mention this in their reviews. The Cobbin and surrounding area was blessedly saved from the Valley Fire. It is so amazing that you can barely tell there was a fire from our property, although it was stopped 50 feet away. With the large expanse of windows the Cobbin offers the feel of living in the trees, similar to a tree house. The Cobbin in Whispering Pines is a place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Enjoy the peace, serenity and privacy. Due to all the rain you can now hear the spring that feeds water to all the houses in the area. This is what you will experience when you visit our cozy Cobb Mountain cabin, lovingly referred to as ' The Cobbin'. Take advantage of our early check in of any time after 6 am, and out late check out of 6 pm. The Cobbin is a remodeled 1940's vacation cabin on half an acre, surrounded by over 100 redwood, pine, dogwood and oak trees. It features a large fenced backyard, perfect for your two or four-legged companion(s). Watch them frolic from your rocking chair on the deck. Enjoy the sun rise over the mountain with a (complimentary) morning cup of coffee. This dog-friendly retreat comes with a fully equipped large kitchen, roomy bathroom with a claw foot tub, washer and dryer, and a cozy bedroom. The living room is well appointed with a NEW sofa/ double bed and cozy chairs, perfect for curling up with a book or gazing at the trees through the large expanse of windows. At night choose a movie from the large DVD library, over 150 and growing, amuse yourself with a deck of cards, a board game, puzzle, or venture out to one of the several restaurants nearby. Your dog will appreciate the large comfy dog bed, raised feeding station, toys and treats. For your convenience there is also an x-pen and baby gate at the kitchen. You will find the Cobbin impeccable when it comes to clean. When we say clean we mean clean! A five hour clean is done inbetween every guest. We take extra care because we do encourage pets. The backyard is patrolled before each visit and pet bedding washed. Included in the list of house cleaning duties is the front and back decks are swept and parts of the yard raked. Nearby is a lovely nine hole golf courses, grocery store, bohemian coffee house ( with its own book store), Brickoven pizza ( our favorite, menu in kitchen drawer), restaurants, boutiques, pub, gas station and post office. A 10-20 minute drive down one side of Cobb Mountain will take you to Twin Pines Casino, Hidden Valley 18 hole golf course, and Middletown. A 30 minute drive down the other side will take you to Clear Lake (perfect for boating , fishing and bird watching). There are many small wineries and more small towns around the Lake to explore, along with 11 free boat ramps. The driveway at the Cobbin can more than fit a vehicle and boat trailer. Located just 2 hours from Sacramento and 2 hours from San Francisco it makes for a pleasant drive to Cobb Mountain. Take a 2 hour day trip to the coast and check out Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Check out Robert Louis Stevenson State Park about 15 miles from the house, towards Calistoga, for a beautiful hike, sorry but not dog friendly. Looking for dog friendly hikes, checkout Dogtrekker.com type in Lake County, Ca. Highland Springs and other dog spots are listed. The cell phone reception at ' The Cobbin' is a bit sketchy- the best reception is on the back deck. The reception has improved in the last 6 months. Text reception is best, phone calls and Internet are about %80 successful now, mattering on the weather. Free wifi can be found at the Mountain High Coffee House a 5 minute drive away. We think you will be so happy enjoying the fresh air, peace and solitude that you will soon forget about surfing the internet. To be clear, the rental is for the whole cabin , large fenced in backyard on 1/2 acre. No one else is on the property. We do recommend , for comfort purposes, a max of 4 adults and 2 dogs. The owners can be reached 24/7 if needed. Response time ASAP. We look forward to sharing our Cobbin with you. Be prepared for your kids, your pet and yourself to fall in love with the Cobbin. It truly is heavenly.
