The SpaceBEDROOM #2/THE TURQUOISE ROOM: This is the second of three rooms I have to offer. And the reason I mention the mattresses is because everyone who stays with me comments on them. No one ever seems to have a bad sleep on them. This is one of three cozy rooms in my spacious, inviting house in the Crescent Park neighborhood of Palo Alto. It's a cheerful, eclectic, lively home, with a variety of pretty garden areas, a wonderful dog, and often bikes available for use. It's approximately two miles from Stanford University. This bedroom has a full-sized bed, a nice closet and a dresser for your use, and a desk. You will be sharing a newly-renovated bathroom if there's a guest in the other room (The Purple Room). Private bath if you're the only guest. The room is clean and nicely appointed. Soft linens, fresh flowers occasionally and garden views await you. For longer term renters, you will have light kitchen privileges and some room in the refrigerator. Guest AccessMy house is large, so guests get to enjoy a large percentage of it. But I also like to keep my family areas separate and ask that guests not spend time in the rooms and gardens I have allotted for myself. Guests will have limited access to the kitchen but are invited to use the living room, dining room and courtyard garden whenever they like. The dining room always has an electric kettle set up, Nespresso, and an array of teas and instant coffee available. Both the garden and the living room have comfortable seating and are peaceful places to hang out. Interaction with GuestsI pretty much leave guests alone and let them come and go. I like my private space so set clear boundaries within the house. That said, however, longer term renters will have light kitchen use and we will usually overlap at the kitchen island occasionally. I am always available, however, to answer questions or help in any way I can. And I often do nice little things for people, invite them to dinner or holiday meals, offer them my bikes for an excursion, pick them up when it's raining or they are tired. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is lovely and a great place to walk. The houses are gorgeous and well landscaped, people are friendly. Many of my renters walk to Stanford or downtown Palo Alto for their jobs. It's safe and completely residential, so there isn't a lot of traffic or noise. Getting AroundMy house is within walking distance (20 minutes) to downtown Palo Alto and Stanford (50 minutes). Biking is a great option and one can rent a bike cheaply at Stanford. There are also several bus options but many of my guests choose to walk or ride bikes. If they are connected to Stanford, they can rent a bike on campus for the duration of their stay. But there is a city bus that goes downtown, where one can then switch to a free bus that goes to Stanford and the Med Center. Freeway and surface street access to other parts of Silicon Valley and companies like (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), are easy and convenient. Other Things to NoteI have a friendly Labrador retriever, Apollo. I often have friends over for dinner but we aren't noisy nor do we use the spaces allotted for guests. My home is very special to me and I love it. And I love sharing it with others who appreciate its eclectic design and calm.

The SpaceTHE PURPLE ROOM: Friends and family who have stayed at my colorful, relaxed home always appear in the morning crowing about my beds. Honest. I love when they say they haven't slept that well in years. I really try to have a comfortable house and I think I do. My house is supremely well located for Stanford affiliated guests as well as business travelers. I am close to downtown and to all freeway access to other Silicon Valley locations. I am offering this cozy room in my spacious, inviting house in the Crescent Park neighborhood of Palo Alto. It's a cheerful, eclectic, lively home, with a variety of pretty garden areas, a wonderful dog and, for lack of a better term, good energy. It's approximately three miles from Stanford University. The neighborhood is a lovely place to walk, with gorgeous trees and interesting houses. I am a Stanford graduate (1978) and 30-year resident of Palo Alto. The bedroom has a full-sized bed. So, depending on your familiarity with your traveling partner, one or two can fit. Shared bath if there is a renter in the room next to it. Private bath if there isn't. The room also has cable tv, a small writing desk and a large armchair. For more than two people, pending availability, I have two other guest rooms that link from this listing: Second Most Comfortable Mattress and For Business or Pleasure Trip: This Room is Ideal. For more than two people, you would need to take more rooms. My spacious living room - with its large couch and cozy reading chair - will be made available for you to relax in privately. If you're a pianist, you'd be welcome to use the Kawai parlor grand. Guests will also have a garden courtyard space to themselves, which is quiet and serene. My house and your room are clean and nicely appointed. Soft linens, fresh flowers occasionally and garden views await you. Renters staying for a week have light kitchen privileges and some space in the refrigerator. You'll love my house. Besides the mattresses, the other things friends and family always say is "I feel like I'm on vacation when I'm here." So, take a vacation..... Guest AccessMy house is large, so guests get to enjoy a large percentage of it. But I also like to keep my family areas separate and ask that guests not spend time in the rooms and gardens I have allotted for myself. The SpaceFully furnished studio apartment. Full bath and kitchen. Full size bed and possible additional foam bed if needed. Originally built as an in-law unit. No TV. Wi-fi and Wired internet. Private entrance. Near Stanford and the Silicon Valley. No smoking. No pets. Bus to Stanford one block away. Cafe and grocery about 0.4mi away, an easy walk through suburban streets. Street parking. We need to guide you to the best parking ideas, depending on the day and time. No reserved parking spaces. This is an urban setting in our area, so parking can be competitive. Very close to Hwy. 101 if your destination involves driving. About half way between the San Jose airport and San Francisco International Airport. Many restaurants and stores about one mile away, on the stretch of University Ave. that is the commercial district for Stanford University. Easy bicycle ride to Stanford. Very bicycle friendly area. It's flat, and there are bicycle lanes everywhere. We live in the adjoining house and are more than happy to give you ideas for food, sights, entertainment. You can feel free to harvest and eat greens from the garden. Our chickens may have an egg or two to offer up, as well! Guest AccessGuests have their own entrance (on the East side of the house). Studio has separate kitchen, bathroom, bed and sitting area! Some guests spend time on West side of house. We can sometimes accommodate laundry request. Let's discuss this! Interaction with GuestsWe live in the house, and would plan to be on site during Guest's stays. We are all under the same roof! Generally we like to meet guests, but sometimes due to schedules a guest will come and go before we interact. The NeighborhoodWe love our neighborhood. It is on the edge of 3 cities - Palo Alto, Menlo Park and East Palo Alto. It is also on the county line between San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Our neighbors range from immigrant kids and grandmas in the apartment buildings around the corner to high powered lawyers in the office building down the street. It is "mixed" insofar as houses, apartments and office buildings plus the Four Seasons Hotel! Close to 101 Freeway, downtown Palo Alto and an easy, walk to Cal Train. We are across the street from San Francisquito Creek, so there are lots of gorgeous trees and nature. Having said this, it is an urban area, not the wilderness, though it feels that way to us each day we enter through the gate! Getting AroundWe are half a block to the bus stop. Easy ride (or walk) to the Cal Train station! Lots of Uber around, too. We have no reserved parking, so this can sometimes be a challenge. About 25 minute taxi ride from either San Jose or San Francisco Airports. It is possible from SFO to take BART to Cal Train south to Palo Alto, then hop in the bus to University and Woodland! Other Things to NoteWe are happy to share our ideas for shopping, eating, drinking. Please let us know if you have any particular needs. We would be happy to get things set up in advance of your arrival!

Interaction with GuestsI try to leave guests to enjoy their privacy. However, I am usually only a text message away, if there is a need to reach me. The NeighborhoodWe are located in East Palo Alto. One of the best things about East Palo Alto is that it is only a few minutes from Palo Alto and all of the amenities that Palo Alto has to offer (including Stanford University). The SpaceWe have a harmonious and peaceful home. This guest room is a master suite and has its own entrance (through a sliding glass door), private bath and is separated from the rest of the house. Large desk and space heater so that you can work in ease and comfort! The Master suite has a comfortable queen size bed, shelves and extra blankets and pillows to make your stay easy and comfortable. Please let us know if you have any special needs that we can hopefully accommodate! Guest AccessAs a guest, you will have your own entrance, and can come and go as you like. Let us know if you need the washer and dryer (which is inside our main house), as we can usually accommodate requests. Interaction with GuestsWe are sometimes working at home and / or are in and out of the home space. If we are working, it is nearby, so are available to help out in any way possible. If you prefer little interaction, that is okay with us! Getting AroundWe are half a block to the bus stop. Easy ride (or walk) to the Cal Train station! Lots of Uber around, too. We have no reserved parking, so this can sometimes be a challenge. (We continuously work with guests to make parking as easy as possible.) About 25 minute taxi ride from either San Jose or San Francisco Airports. It is possible from SFO to take BART to Cal Train south to Palo Alto, then hop in the bus to University and Woodland! Other Things to NoteThere is no off street or assigned parking. Parking can be challenging in our neighborhood if you arrive later in the evening. We have strategies that we will share with you in hopes to make it easier. Our cats won't be in the room with you, but have been in the space so we want you to know that they are around. We have 4 hens who live outside and also honey bees in a couple of hives in our garden area!
