-Layout and amenities:
The home entrance, plus front and back yards are on your room's level. It's up one step into the house. French doors, in your room, open to a serene, private seating area in the fenced, private back yard. A picture window to the private front yard (also with seating) is visible from your room. Another row of windows light this great bedroom. The room has wireless "Wifi" internet access and yoga mats. Directly adjacent to the room, is your private full bathroom (with sink, toilet, and a nice stand-in shower). Plenty of extra toiletries, supplies, and a hair dryer are available for your use.
-ALWAYS fresh and clean sheets, comforter cover, and towels. The room and bathroom are spotless and fresh for you!
(My bedroom/bathroom is two levels above your studio; so, we each have a lot of privacy for rest times. My kitchen and living room are on the second floor, in my private space.)
-The house has radiant heating (in the floors); it's wonderful. If you need more heat, please ask because it functions differently than forced air systems.
-Your room has an electric kettle (for heating water, only) and supplies for making tea with hot water from the kettle. Many options for tea/herbal teasans (and sweetener options).
-Basics of Location, Parking, and Transportation:
We're at the border of Emeryville and West Oakland Guest AccessPrivate bedroom and adjacent private full bathroom.
Tea and fresh fruit are self-serve (electric kettle for boiling water).
Serene and private outdoor seating. Interaction with GuestsMy interaction with guests depends on the needs of each guest and my availability during each guest's stay.
-I'm always available by text message or phone and you'll get that number when your reservation is finalized.
-I work and often am at work. I also teach and attend classes. That said, please ask me; I'm SURE I can help you navigate and feel comfortable and more at ease and confident in your navigation!
-I am home when each guest arrives. After that, guests have a key to come/go as they wish and the best way to reach me is through the AirBnB messaging system or text to my personal phone.
-At the end of the stay, guests just leave the keys in the room and lock the door to the house when departing (by 11am, please). The NeighborhoodI love this creative, diverse neighborhood. There are artists and entrepreneurs in every home! Oakland (particularly West Oakland) is closer to many spots in SF than if you stay in SF! And West Oakland also is a very cool place on its own! (Many artists, healers, and other creative types who used to be in SF now live and work in Oakland.)
Ask me for a recommendation to the type of food, drink, or entertainment you enjoy. If I don't know where to send you, I know toward what source to point you!
-Dining: Five blocks (10 minute walk) to renown breakfast and lunch restaurant: Brown Sugar Kitchen. One mile to fabulous Arizmendhi Bakery Collective. Two miles to a full outdoor mall with shopping, movie theaters, Trader Joe's, and Ikea.
-Arts: 15 minute walk to Bullseye Glass Studio. 35 minute walk to The Crucible industrial arts studio. The house is located in the center of a vibrant arts and open studios area!
-Yoga: MANY yoga studios in the area (a feature of my guidebook!); you'll have a great time building your getaway within your desires for practice. If you don't see your desired yoga "style" in my guidebook, please ask. There are literally dozens of studios within 5 miles of my home. Getting Around-The Bay Area has excellent public transportation and many online ride-sharing and car-sharing options.
-Enterprise car rental has two nearby offices.
-Parking is plentiful on the streets in front of and near my home. ***Beware of Street Cleaning times when parking (one side on Thursday, other on Friday! 12:30 - 3:30pm only)!***
-The best way to get here from the SF airport is by BART to the West Oakland station. From there, it's a 10 minute bus (AC Transit bust #31, $2.10) or taxi ride (c. $10, plus tip) to my home (or, I may be able to pick you up, just ask!)
-Try an online ride/car sharing option or casual carpool.
The SF Bay Area is the birthplace of most of the ride-sharing and car-sharing companies! Check Uber and Lyft, Zimride, Wingz, etc. Search on ride share or car share.
