The Space I am offering a private room with a queen sized bed and a bathroom, shared with my housemate. It is in a house in a quiet neighborhood in San Anselmo..There is off street parking in my driveway, or the Golden Gate Transit bus is 3 short blocks away. Breakfast is included. You might like to enjoy a coffee or cappuccino and home baked goodies or fruit and yogurt...inside or outside, either on the front porch enjoying the morning sun, or in the backyard in the shade of a 300 year old oak tree. Later, I’d be happy to provide coffee, tea, or a snack if you’re hungry, and I can recommend one of the many local restaurants for dinner. You are welcome to use the shared living room, family room with TV, or garden; washer and dryer are available if necessary, but the kitchen is unavailable for personal use other than coffee/tea/ snack. WIFI is available throughout the house and in the bedroom. San Anselmo is half way between San Francisco and Point Reyes National Seashore. You can just as easily spend your day driving or taking the ferry into The City, or enjoying the wide open spaces of Marin County, exploring Mt. Tamalpais State Park, Marin Headlands, Samuel P Taylor State Park, Point Reyes Natl. Seashore, or the numerous protected open spaces interspersed throughout Marin. There is fabulous hiking, road or mountain biking all nearby. Or, maybe you’d like to go kayaking in Sausalito or Tomales Bay?? The house is equally distant between downtown Fairfax and downtown San Anselmo, with about a 20 min. walk to either one. So you can stroll the neighborhood to the movie theater, restaurants and many live music venues of Fairfax or the quaint downtown of San Anselmo enjoying lunch, a coffee or exploring the many boutique shops. I love to hike and bike and feel blessed to live in a place that has so much available. I am happy to give you some recommendations for roads to bike or trails to hike, share my maps… or… IF I am available maybe even be your hiking guide!. .(Please ask ahead of time if you are interested in trail head shuttle or guide service for a small charge). Guest AccessYou have a private room but a shared bathroom with my housemate. Feel free to use the living room, dining room, family room with TV, backyard, or front porch. Kitchen is available to make a snack or coffee and tea... but not for full cooking. Wifi is available. Washer and Dryer available. Interaction with GuestsThis is my home so I will be staying here with you. I will be around to welcome you and, whenever possible, to be here to serve you a nice breakfast, or at least put out breakfast for you in the morning, if I have to leave before you. I look forward to getting to know you a little, but also respect your privacy if you'd rather be left alone. The NeighborhoodIt is a quiet neighborhood mixed with older and younger families. I live at the bottom of a hill, where you can walk up to the open space and along the ridgeline. Or, you can walk to either downtown Fairfax or San Anselmo and enjoy a little small town atmosphere. Getting Around I have a long driveway where you can park, although we may have to do a little juggling of cars depending on who has to get out earliest in the morning. From SFO you can rent a car and drive about 1 hour to my house. OR you can take the Marin Airporter to Larkspur. From there you can take a taxi (about 15 minutes) to my house or (if I am available I might be able to pick you up??) You could also take the Golden Gate Transit Bus from Larkspur Landing to San Anselmo and walk 3 blocks to my house. It is more, or less, convenient depending on the time of day and day of the week. Other Things to NoteMy housemate sleeps at work some nights but stays here on other nights. Since you may be sharing a bathroom with her... If she has to work in the morning, please let her use the shower so she can get out to work on time.

The SpaceA serene retreat that any writer or artist or meditator or honeymooning couple would love, my home is perched in the trees, yet is minutes away from town. A hillside view of the Cascade Valley is revealed through sliding glass doors, opening one wall of the living room (upstairs) and of the master bedroom (downstairs) onto a view of the green outdoors, a valley with dozens of varieties of trees, a distant mountainside and sky. The glass doors -- both upstairs and downstairs -- open to redwood decks which have glass sides, so that the gorgeous view is not obscured. You will see deer resting and squirrels running and birds soaring close by. A creek at the bottom of the hill rages in winter and is dry in summer. My home is a cozy two bedroom, one bathroom on two stories. Upstairs are the living room, dining room and brand new kitchen. Downstairs are two bedrooms and the bathroom. Hardwood, amber-colored floors throughout reflect the ample natural light. All new electricity provides lights in the master bedroom operable from the door or from the brand new all natural bed -- an organic, all-latex mattress on a massive, designer log bed. This is the most comfortable bed you'll ever sleep in! You can wake up to the green view if you want or close the thick drapes to keep it dark enough to sleep in. The second bedroom (the red room) can sleep one person (adult or child). It's a cozy room without a view -- decorated to encourage whimsy and imagination -- remarkably conducive either to creative work or conversation. You can expect to have the whole sparkling-clean house to yourself, with all the amenities of home provided. I will leave your breakfast, as well as ample linens and towels, hair dryer and shampoo, cappuccino maker and coffee or tea. You will have access to the (also brand new) washing machine and dryer. I have wi-fi for your computer and all the premium channels on cable TV. (HBO, IFC, Turner Classic, Sundance, Comedy). Bring your IPod because there's a dock with speakers in the bedroom. I rent my home when I go on vacation or out of town. Inquire if you are wondering if your dates are available, as I can sometimes (not always) arrange to be away. The house is a half mile from downtown Fairfax -- walking distance-- or a two minute drive. The car deck (also recently upgraded) holds parking for two cars. In downtown Fairfax, you'll find three live music venues, a movie theater, and loads of good restaurants. Try the new Hummingbird Cafe for organic New Orleans style food or Avatar's Punjabi Burritos for a cuisine that combines Indian, Mexican and Jamaican (and it's not just burritos). The FairFix Cafe is a funky mediterranean style cafe where locals hang out, and the Fatoush salad is the best in the Bay area. There's also Thai food, Mexican, Chinese, and several options for espresso, including the drive-through Java Hut. The oldest health food store in Marin (The Good Earth) is now also the biggest and has a restaurant. It's a ten minute drive to three of the five lakes owned by the Marin Municipal Water District. Lake Lagunitas has a flat 1.7 mile walking or biking loop. Bon Tempe Lake is 3.7 miles around, and Alpine Lake is about 10 miles around. Minutes away is total wilderness, good for hiking, biking and fishing. Fairfax is where the mountain bike was invented! Fairfax is known for its unusual slant on life, a quirky town where music is on the streets when it's warm, and the local Farmers' Market is a Wednesday night kid-friendly party from May to October 4 pm to 8 pm. Known as the gateway to West Marin, Fairfax is 30 minutes to Point Reyes and 40 minutes to San Francisco. It's possible to take the bus to Larkspur Ferry into the city or all the way into the city. Security deposit of $300 required; returned if no damage. Cleaning fee: $100 in addition. Absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property, inside or outside. I checked off "yes" that there are pets on premises in case you have allergies because I have a dog, who will not be left behind! Know that the house will be thoroughly, professionally cleaned. Please be sure to give me enough information about you so that I feel comfortable with you staying in my home. Your full name and a photograph that shows your face clearly are both very helpful. Entire house, including: washing machine and dryer, linens, towels, hair dryer, full kitchen with all staples and spices. Because I live in the house, I will leave my clothes and other possessions. I clean out a full closet and three drawers in the bathroom for your use. And you are welcome to use shampoos, soaps, first aid items, as well as a large DVD collection with unusual films. My home has double banisters on the stairs and grab handles in the shower. The SpaceThe open floor plan 1,250 sq ft house offers a great open kitchen, available for making yummy meals, and a shared bathroom. I cook a lot so perhaps we will share a meal. This is truly indoor / outdoor California living. The chlorine free hot tub is a great place to relax at the end of the day. I will keep it at a warm 97 degrees if you like so you can soak for an hour, or keep it anywhere up to 104 if you want to soothe those aching muscles from the hiking in the area. It heats up super fast so you can crank it from 97 to 104 each night. The coffee is world class. My last person that stayed said it was the best cup of coffee ever in her life. You will have to come have it to know the magic ingredients. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire house. The main floor open floor plan includes a beautiful living room with a huge open couch for lounging with a flat screen tv. If you really want to store a lot of food there is a whole extra refrigerator/freezer downstairs. The master bedroom has a King Tempurpedic bed and another 60 inch flat screen TV with ROKU hooked up, with Netflix and Amazon Prime movies, DVD player, Mac plug in if you wish to use your Mac on the big Flat screen, and any other type of flash drive plug in you like to watch movies. Interaction with GuestsI will be present in the house and can tell you about the area if you wish. I work at home doing counseling. Perhaps we'll get into an interesting conversation. The NeighborhoodRight in Sleepy Hollow! At the exact center between San Anselmo and Fairfax. Our home is walking distance to the quaint town of San Anselmo, centered in the heart of Marin County. You have access to restaurants, parks, hiking trails, beaches, mountains and arguably one of the most beautiful areas in the world. The Golden Gate bridge is 20 minutes away. The city of San Francisco lies on the other side of the bridge. You can bike, walk or drive your car across the Golden Gate. Napa Valley is less than 1 hour from Marin. Tahoe is a 3 hour drive and Monterrey is 2 hours south of San Francisco. Getting AroundIt is a 10 minute walk to the town of San Anselmo. There are local buses to visit other towns in Marin as well as San Francisco. Ferries to San Francisco and Angel Island are available in Larkspur, Tiburon and Sausalito. And, walk or ride a bike over the Golden Gate Bridge. Other Things to NoteI have extra computers if you are in need of a laptop. There are not extra phones available, so if you need to use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) I can provide a laptop and headset for that. I don't really cook meals all day long for guests, but I am a bit of a super healthy eater, and I make smoothies and do vegetable juices throughout the day. If you are there I will probably offer your some. I also create the most seriously incredible cacao-buttered coffee every morning. Piano available to play if you like. 1 minute away drive to go to the brand new pool at the high school to swim laps. About $7 per person to go.

The SpaceA-frame house surrounded by open space-100 feet to miles and miles of trails in protected land. Three bed, two bath house on dead-end street. French doors open onto deck with fire pit and propane heater. 30 to 45 min. drive to San Francisco (16 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge). Great road and mountain biking right out the door. Our professionally decorated home has a renovated kitchen with commercial grade appliances, including a six burner Dacor gas cooktop. The decor can be described as Pottery Barn meets West Elm, with a few colorful Oriental rugs as accents. We recently added eleven skylights, so there's lots of natural light. We also recently added a 600 square foot patio with a fire pit under the oak trees, just outside French doors from the living room. Most of the living space is in the great room area, and the bedrooms are pleasant but somewhat small. Overall, the place is very clean and uncluttered. The downstairs bathroom was recently renovated and features a deep soaking tub. The upstairs bathroom has a shower, and a new tile floor. Our daughter's bedroom upstairs has a comfortable single bed. There are bunkbeds in our son's room downstairs. Upstairs is the master bedroom with a new, California King size bed, with new flannel sheets and Ralph Lauren bedspread and down pillows. In the great room, there is an air conditioner which is hardly ever necessary, but available in case you wish to use it. We have a good movie collection, and two large flat screen televisions, with a movie sound system in the family room, along with a long L-shaped couch. We also have Comcast On-Demand and Netflix subscriptions. We enjoy entertaining here, as the great room and patio all flow together, making a cheerful and attractive party space where everyone can be near each other, but with enough space to relax. It is a great place to be, but not too delicate that you have to worry much if you bring your children or small dog. Downtown Fairfax is a mile and a half away - with many restaurants and shops, and live music every night of the week in multiple venues. Great breakfast/coffee places, lots of great people-watching. Fairfax is described as "Mayberry on Acid". As the birthplace of mountain biking, as well as the gateway to rural West Marin, you'll see hundreds of cyclists, both road and mountian, pour through Fairfax on the weekends. With a great hippie vibe, Fairfax is fun to hang out from the early morning to late at night. We love living here, and we know you'll love visiting! For a great article about Marin in the New York Times - search for "36 Hours in Marin". Our neighborhood is extremely quiet and is bordered by open space. The street is shaded by large oak trees. It's a great place to walk both day and night (bring a flashlight). We are near the end, so the open space trails are just steps away. Downtown Fairfax is a vibrant area with restaurants, bars and shops. We love it here, and we think you will too! We are about 1.5 miles from downtown Fairfax. It's a nice walk, but most likely you'll want to drive.

The SpaceOur home is located in cul de sac with a private driveway. As you enter the main front door, you pass through an open-air garden atrium to enter the home. The living and dining room are at the central, heart of the house. Floor-to-ceiling windows give beautiful views of the expansive backyard. The house has recently been remodeled with Italian porcelain tile throughout. The living/dining area has new furniture and is African-inspired to reflect the family roots of the owner. To the left is the kitchen, pantry and laundry with all the necessary amenities (microwave; double ovens, dishwasher, gas stove, washing machine, dryer). On the left side of the house is the children and 'guest' area, with 3 bedrooms, (queen bed, twin beds, and pull-out full size bed), 1.5 bathrooms, and a play/TV room with toys and books. This room has direct access to the backyard and pool area. There is a Ping-Pong table in the front yard. To the right of the living area is the master bedroom and attached master bathroom. This also has direct access to the backyard and has a beautiful view of the pool. There is a new hot tub right outside. This 'wing' includes a separate room which serves as an office. The home is all on one level. It was designed by the architect, Joseph Eichler, who was renowned for creating contemporary, open plan family homes that would blend in with the outdoors. The huge windows and sky lights throughout the home make it very bright and airy, and views of the hills, and backyard can be seen throughout. The backyard has a beautiful large pool, hot tub, dining and lounge area with fire table. The backyard backs onto a staircase that takes you to a beautiful creek where you spot fish, otters and deer. Our garden has fruit trees including oranges, peaches and lemons and we have a wonderful herb garden. There is a trampoline, swing set, tree swing, and tree house. We also have a children's jeep which is battery operated and can go approx. 5 miles an hour. The home and backyard are completely private. It is truly a children's paradise! Please note that we have a burmese cat that is indoor/outdoor and very domesticated and two feral cats that live in our backyard (they are not domesticated and never come inside). We will ask you to feed them kibble please once, each morning. We are 20 minutes north of San Francisco. We are also 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, and 25 minutes from the famous vineyards of Sonoma and Napa Valley. Lake Tahoe is a 3 hour drive away and Yosemite is a 4 hour drive. Our home is located in Lucas Valley which is situated in Marin County. Lucas Valley is a beautiful, serene neighborhood surrounded by oak-studded hillsides with interesting architecture, a strong sense of community, and plenty of recreational activities. We are just 20 minutes north of the Golden Gate bridge that separates San Francisco from Marin County. From Mount Tamalpais to Muir Woods, from Stinson Beach to Sausalito and Tiburon, Marin County offers an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and convenient access to the bustling city of San Francisco, the breathtaking Pacific Ocean, and the rolling vineyards of Napa and Sonoma. Marin County is surrounded by water on three sides. Although we have a private pool in our backyard, we also have (free) access to a community center just a block away which houses a 25 meter pool, and tennis courts. We are walking distance to hiking and biking trails and horse stables. Life in Lucas Valley offers breathtaking views, distinctive Joseph Eichler architecture designed to blend in with the muted colors of live Californian oaks, natural grasses, and the rolling hills that frame our community. Perhaps the most famous piece of Lucas Valley real estate is Skywalker Ranch, headquarters for Lucasfilm and Skywalker Sound just 2 miles away. We are also a short drive to an adorable 'small-town America' village called Nicasio (and the famous Nicasio Cheese Factory), as well as Point Reyes. Our home is in a small cul de sac with a private driveway. There are 5 other homes in the cul de sac. We are 2 blocks from the local school and so it is a very family-friendly neighborhood, that is easy to walk or cycle around. Grocery shopping is about 2 miles away, along with a wonderful shopping center that houses Macy's, Gap, a movie theater, restaurants etc. We have 2 TVs (family room, and master bedroom) and access to Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu etc. We also have a SONOS system for wireless music throughout the house and backyard. The SpaceIdeally situated on a cul-de-sac in a quiet, family neighborhood, my house is small but welcoming, with colorfully painted rooms and art everywhere. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with a foldout couch and French doors leading to a spacious garden with a giant redwood tree at the back. Shower and tub in the bathroom, with a window looking out on a huge cedar tree shading the patio. The garden is a lovely place for afternoon lounging. The house is within walking distance of 2 towns -- San Anselmo and Fairfax -- with banks, post office, movie theater, libraries, shops, grocery stores (including the fabulous new Good Earth in Fairfax) and more. A bus stop is one block away; with a car, you can be in San Francisco, wine country (Napa and Sonoma) in less than an hour. For outdoor people, there are national parks, state parks, beaches and countless hiking trails all within Marin County. In residence are Phoebe & Xena, 2 very shy, fluffy cats who just need food & water & very little attention as they will be hiding under the bed or staying outside most of the time......or at the "cat hotel." If anyone is allergic to cats, this is not a good place to stay as, no matter how much cleaning is done, there is always leftover cat hair. As I live in the home full-time, I need a couple of days' notice to prepare it. Also, I generally rent only short term. Coffee and tea are provided. Guest AccessAll of the house and yard is available. A tenant lives in a unit behind the house and can use the yard also but generally uses the small patio in front of the rental unit. Interaction with GuestsDepending on guests' arrival time, I will try to be here to greet my guests, show them around and answer any questions I can. If not, a key and detailed instructions will be provided. The NeighborhoodThe quiet, the friendliness, the easy access to shopping and hiking trails Getting AroundGolden Gate transit bus stop 1/2 block away Other Things to NotePlease allow for traffic from SFO to Marin. There are 2 cats who live in the house but when guests are here, mainly stay outside. However, if anyone suffers from allergies, this is not a good fit as cat hair is impossible to totally get rid of.
