This house is situated in a historic estate area of Glendale with 8 minute drive to all Film Studios in the Valley: Disney, Warner Brothers, Universal,CBS, Dreamworks, ABC, ESPN etc. Five minute walk to Glendale College. 25 minutes to Disneyland and Orange County beach areas. This 3 bedroom includes 4 bathrooms, master suite with deck and views of the pool and private office/laundry room. Exterior and pool areas are private and sun bathing and swimming can be enjoyed freely. House has formal living room, formal dining for 6 or more, eat in kitchen, family room with flat screen t.v. and bar area and bbq. Movie theaters can be found in quaint and vintage village of Honolulu which also has many restaurants and Sunday Farmers Market only 3 minutes from house. Downtown Glendale includes the Americana Shopping district where all the family action and shopping is found. Nearby attractions include hiking the Angelino Forrest or walking or golfing at nearby Griffith Park. Nearby Griffith Park Observatory is great for evening viewing.     The SpaceA Traveler’s Haven awaits you in this daylight basement suite of a well preserved Early California Estate. It is secluded and has its own outside entrance making it intriguing, super private and peaceful. (URL HIDDEN)NO SMOKING INSID(URL HIDDEN)25 years smoke free. LOCATED in an upscale Glendale residential neighborhood among prime properties, it sits 200 ft. back from the street and up high overlooking the San Fernando Valley. THE SPACE is substantial at 1,200 sq. ft. (110 m2) in a lofty basement suite with 8ft. (2.5m) ceiling and soundproof walls. It was recently restored, the floors covered with tile and carpeting for sheer livability, and the space is yours alone. AMENITIES - A media room w/58" flat screen TV, set up as screening room w/plush leather Director's recliner chairs. It also doubles as master bedroom with a new queen bed perhaps not found better this side of Eden, but also a single bed for families with a small child. There is another queen bed in the living room providing comfort for up to 5 guests, max. 6 with a roll in bed. BATH - A new shower bathroom is stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion, towels and hairdryer etc., all you need. And a large granite wet bar w/refrigerator opens up to huge carpeted living room which features an 8 ft. pool table. AIR - The suite has central air conditioning/ heating, making for a super comfortable nest to return to. Lounge or play games at the corner card table, it is cozy and private, yours to enjoy. TV and WI-FI provided free of charge. COFFEE & TEA - There is a coffee maker, hot water pot and a toaster, but otherwise no cooking facilities in the suite - and no cooking allowed. PATIO KITCHEN - You will find cereal out on the patio along with refrigerator, microwave oven, electric single burner, electric griddle, toaster, pots and pans, essential utensils, etc. and a propane barbeque grill. The brick patio breathes peace and comfort as it sits under tiled roof and ts welcomes you with ample cabinets, tiled sink counter and total shade at mid day s it faces north. POOL - It sits to the large pool (20 x 40 ft.) set in large landscaped yard with near total privacy. That my friend may be as close as you and I will come to Eden, an enviable spot to raise a glass of wine at sunset and ponder life. LAUNDRY - There is a washing machine and dryer on the premises for your free use. PARKING - There is ample off street parking on our circular driveway and parking lot in front of the house, secluded, private and free. AREA ACCESS - You will be only minutes from freeways with easy access to the area: by car 15 min. to Hollywood, Universal Studios, Downtown L. A. and Burbank airport - 40 min. to Santa Monica beaches, Malibu and beyond. EATERIES - Village French Bakery and Porto's Bakery are within minutes, and so is the much favored mountainside restaurant Castaway with its fine kitchen and marvelous view out over the San Fernando Valley, but..... Above all is the sparkling new & avant-garde Americana-at-Brand dining, shopping and entertainment complex. From there a huge variety of fine traditional & ethnic restaurants spills up and down Brand Blvd., offering a taste for every palate. HISTORY The estate was built in 1923 when the Roaring Twenties were just getting into full swing, thirty years before John Steinbeck published his epic novel "East of Eden".     The SpaceOur apartment is located in the city of Glendale, between Los Angles, Burbank and Pasadena. There's a lot to explore here, but also serves as a great center for exploring outwards. For your stay, we have a large living room w/ a pull out couch. Pulls out to a spacious queen size bed. Pillows, linens, blankets provided by us. This room is separated by a hallway and has its own door. You're more than welcome to read our books, make use of our kitchen and use the speedy wi-fi. Make yourself at home. We usually make dinner at home so we'd be glad to share if it fits in your schedule and we're not out. Emily is a great cook and, even if you don't catch a dinner, you can check out some of her baked goods at Deluca's in the Americana. Shower at your disposal. Small but quality (read: clean) bathroom. Towels and basic bathroom items for you to use. Hollywood is 10 minutes away as well as downtown Los Angeles. Studio close, both for Burbank and Hollywood. The city of Glendale boasts a VERY low crime rate, even though it is minutes from Los Angeles. Also close to Silverlake, Burbank and Atwater. You can walk to the all new Americana a few blocks, which has lots of restaurants, bars, name brand stores, including Katsuya Bar and The Cheese Cake Factory. Ralph's and Trader Joe's are two blocks away, Griffith Park one mile away, the home of The Griffith Park Observatory (where many movies have been filmed including "Rebel Without A Cause", starring James Dean and Natalie Wood). Thirty minutes from the mountains, beaches, and so much more. Close to the 5 and 134 freeways, as well as public transportation. Most of my guests are here for at least a month and some over a year... I weave shorter stays in and out of the longer ones. For that reason I operate a master calendar. If you are flexible as to which cottage, quiet, communicative and a non-smoker...That's GREAT! Please let me know you are flexible as to which cottage with your first communication so I will know if I can accept your reservation. I run a master calendar so all my dates are not kept here. QUEEN BED. NO SMOKING or Animals ALLOWED. Adorable! Stylish, renovated, one bedroom Cottage Style Suite located in the Southern part of Glendale, right next to Atwater Village, minutes away from downtown LA, Silverlake, Los Feliz, and Hollywood. Also minutes from Burbank, the Valley and Eaglerock. In a word it is extremely "central". On a tree lined residential street, the courtyard itself is loaded with sun and has lovely large palm trees. This cottage is "house like" with both a front and back door. Though there are some common walls, there is no one above or below. It has hardwood floors throughout and is 1920's renovated with Design in mind. Great for singles, couples, business professionals, students, and tourists. All furniture and home items are solely for the use of our guests. Laundry on premises. The Kitchen is fully stocked with microwave, stove, toaster, utensils, dishes, pots and pans. Each suite comes with it's own full size ironing board, iron and hair dryer. Included is a large, flat screen TV which is equipped with a streaming media device and an HDTV antenna allowing you to access quite a many local channels. GREAT Wi-Fi! It even works in the courtyard. Guests will enjoy a Spanish style courtyard, with adirondack chairs, chaise lounges, tables and chairs.     The SpaceOur two-story home is very large and spacious. We have 6 bedrooms: Our Modern Guest Room, our bedroom, my office, my husband's office, and a green-screen studio! Our retro kitchen is very spacious and is free for you to use as well! There is one full bathroom downstairs (shared) and a quarter bathroom upstairs. Guest AccessThere is a mini-fridge in the guest bedroom for your use along with a single cup coffee maker. Please feel free to use the kitchen as you wish :) There is a TV with connected TV options like Hulu, Netflix etc. We also have a washer and dryer available to you as well. Our backyard is HUGE and is a great place to relax at the end of the evening under the gazebo. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I both work from home - so we will most likely be home working quietly in our offices during your stay :) We would love to get to know you while you are staying with us and are happy to offer and suggestions to local tourist attractions and restaurants. But if you wish to have a more private stay, we would be happy to honor that as well :) Just let us know! The NeighborhoodOur home is located on a quiet neighborhood street just minutes walking distance from the gorgeous outdoor mall, the Americana, and other local theaters, restaurants, and boutique stores located along Brand Ave. We are also a short 5 minute drive to Griffith Park 'the Central Park of Los Angeles' where you can enjoy great hiking trails up to the Hollywood sign and the Griffith Observatory and museum, horseback riding, LA Zoo, a golf course and much more! Getting AroundWe have plenty of parking in our backyard's drive way area for your convenience. If you are not driving, we are located within 2 minutes walking distance of our public transit stop (bus) that can take you to any part of the city. Other Things to NoteWe do have a friendly cat named SWAY. He is super lovable -- but definitely good to note in case you are allergic.

    The SpaceThis retreat is like a private resort, luxurious and spacious (600 sq. ft.) and sits at the end of a large pool with the springboard right out the door. Just completely remodeled and with full kitchen, it is quality and shines blissfully in its own peace behind our 1920's mini estate away from street noise; - a lucky find. (URL HIDDEN) NO SMOKING INSID(URL HIDDEN) 25 years smoke free. Amenities: -a large suite with living room/bedroom, queen bed and screened off futon will accommodate a family of four (max. five. with a roll-in bed) - open and airy it has a scrumptious large and comfortable sectional sofa group, - WiFi and 55 inch flat screen TV. - It has a brand new bathroom with shower, - and brand new full kitchen with gas range, microwave, built in dishwasher, etc., and is well equipped w/utensils. - There is an outside laundry room w/washer & dryer, plus plenty of sunshine & bird song. Pool and patio: -The pool is 20 x 40 ft. and has one very deep end so it is for good swimmers only, minor children under direct adult supervision and the sole responsibility of guest; the pool deck with lounge chairs are for all sun lovers to share; likewise the.... -Patio w/tile roof and red trumpet gazebo that provide shade for most of the day. -The barbecue grill, microwave oven, etc. etc. are for all guests to share. View and parking: -It looks out over a landscaped yard and the pool to signature palm and giant oak tree, with Hollywood Hills and the Valley beyond. -The Disney Campus, Dreamworks, Universal Studios & Warner Bros. etc. are close by, and so is Hollywood itself. -There is plenty of free off street parking on our private horse shoe driveway in front of the main house and on its parking lot. Neighborhood and location: -This is an upscale residential neighborhood with large custom homes built in eighty to ninety years ago that proudly show off individual character. It is also a very friendly and safe neighborhood. -15-20 min. to downtown L.A., Hollywood, and prime shopping. Easy access to freeway makes this an ideal location and provides a break from the city in park-like surroundings. ------------------------------ The name “Sundowner” came from Australia about a farmhand’s luck to arrive just in time to have dinner and get his bed for the night, but too late to do any work. - And also to a rare Southern California wind induced by the valley heat; but mostly it celebrates another beautiful day as the sun goes down. ------------------- ATTENTION, we have two more rentals on the property, also listed with Airbnb: "Honeymooners' Secret Hideaway""located on the second floor above you, and "East of Eden" located in the basement of the main house, both very different. We can pick up our guests from the airport and drop them off to the airport when they leave for additional $100.

    The SpaceThis is a large one bedroom/ one bath private apartment with a Queen sized four-post bed in the bedroom and a Full sized futon in the living room. There is a washer/ dryer in the apartment, A/C in the bedroom, 1 parking space and ample street parking. The front porch is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and read a book. This apartment can sleep 4, but it might be a bit crowded feeling for longer stays, especially with children. Two couples would be comfortable, but again, there's only one bathroom. The apartment is very centrally located between the 5/ 134/ 2 freeways, and is about 10 minutes from Hollywood, Downtown, Pasadena. The valley is very easy to get to, and depending on the time of day, the beach is about 25-30 minutes by car. The neighborhood is very walkable with a Ralph's grocery store just a block away, a pair of lovely sandwich shops also a block away, and all of downtown Glendale a 10-minute walk away, with bars, restaurants and cinemas. As for public transportation, there's a bus line nearby, but it's LA-- I'd recommend a car for sure! Public transportation in LA can be very frustrating in general. I am away working in the Yukon Territory in Canada, but my brother lives next door and can help you with anything you might need. The apartment is always professionally cleaned between guests, and because of cleaning costs, I require a 2 night minimum stay. There is fresh bedding, lots of towels, full kitchen fully stocked with all types of cooking stuff! I hope you have a lovely stay!!       The SpaceIf you are staying in the Los Angeles area, a night at the The Harris House will be an experience you will long remember. This grand, registered historic landmark was built in 1902 and features detailed, original woodwork throughout. It's appointed with chandeliers, taxidermy, and various antiquities and specimens. Sometimes my mini-macaw is in the house and he can be a chatterbox during the day :) The house is located in a quiet neighborhood in Glendale, CA which is minutes from the city. From the house you can walk to restaurants, shops, groceries...everything! The room is on the second floor and has a queen bed. It comfortably fits 2 guests. There is a large closet and writing desk. There is a unique, 1940's boarding house style bathroom on the second floor which features two separate showers and two toilet stalls! The first floor bathroom has a claw-foot tub. All bathrooms are shared. Enjoy breakfast in the sun room which overlooks the side yard frequented by squirrels, raccoon, doves, crows, scrub jays, and even hawks, skunks, and coyote. There is wi-fi throughout the house. The house has central air and heating. By request, you may do laundry during your stay. Snapshots in the house are fine but the location may not be used for any type of commercial or artistic photography or filming. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use any of the common areas including the parlor, living room, dining room, laundry, sun room, and outdoor deck. You may use the kitchen for simple things but please check with me first. We are right in the city yet there is an abundance of wildlife on the property. Flocks of doves join scrub jays, crows, sparrows and squirrels at our bird feeder. Once in a while you might catch a hawk trying to catch a dove. At night raccoon, and occasionally a skunk or two, can be seen wandering in the yard.

We are close to freeway 5, freeway 134, freeway 101. Walking distance to two major shopping malls, the Galleria and the Americana. The Americana has a movie theater and there are several restaurants. Walking distance to bus stops 180/181 and other busses. Hollywood by car is about 15 minutes away. There is a little Armenian neighborhood market in one block distance. You can buy all basics that you would need. Grocery stores like Von's and Ralph's are a 5 minute drive. Target at the Glendale Galleria is a 15-20 min walk. Security deposit: Depending on the length of stay we might charge a security deposit. Our family consists of Bruce, Tanja, Noah, Nyla and Bella our very sweet 4 year old dog. The house is two stories, with three furnished bedrooms upstairs and one furnished bedroom downstairs. Three of the bedrooms have a flatscreen TV with Direct TV. The Master bedroom is located upstairs and has a private, attached bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The two other bedrooms upstairs have queen beds with a shared bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed with a private, attached bathroom. The kitchen comes fully equipped with state of the art stove/oven and dishwasher. Located right next to the kitchen is a dining room that easily sits 6-8 guests. The Living Room is comfortable with a couch and two reclining chairs and a 60" flatscreen TV. There is also a small sitting/reading room located downstairs. The upstairs porch has two single sun-beds and one double sun-bed. This is a great house for friends and family.       The SpaceMy property in L.A./ lower Glendale consists of many adorable cottages with a central courtyard. All the same size/amenities. It has become a boutique extended stay of sorts. Most of my guests are here for at least a month and some over a year... I weave shorter stays in and out of the longer ones. For that reason I operate a master calendar. If you are flexible as to which cottage, quiet, communicative and a non-smoker...That's GREAT! Stylish, renovated, one bedroom Cottage Style Suite located in the Southern part of Glendale, right next to Atwater Village, minutes away from downtown LA, Silverlake, Los Feliz, and Hollywood. Also minutes from Burbank, the Valley and Eaglerock. In a word it is extremely "central". On a tree lined residential street, the courtyard itself is loaded with sun and has lovely large palm trees. This cottage is "house like" with both a front and back door. Though there are some common walls, there is no one above or below. It has hardwood floors throughout and is 1920's renovated with Design in mind. Great for singles, couples, business professionals, students, and tourists. All furniture and home items are solely for the use of our guests. Laundry on premises. The Kitchen is fully stocked with microwave, stove, toaster, utensils, dishes, pots and pans. Each suite comes with it's own full size ironing board, iron and hair dryer. Getting AroundGlendale has a good bus system and also has a stop on the Metro & Amtrak train. Take the train to San Diego, Santa Barbara and Northern California. My cottages are within walking distance to The Americana at Brand and also to Target. They are very centrally located in the Los Angeles area, particularly if you have to go to downtown, Hollywood, Burbank or Eagle rock. Everyone tells mehow central they are. You can also get to the valley very easily like Studio City, North Hollywood, etc.
