The SpaceHappy Hound Cottage is named for my dog, Tahoe—who will happily greet you on arrival. (My big cat, Chortle will likely say good night and/or good morning). HHC is in the heart of Sonoma County wine country (Kenwood), midway between the town of Sonoma and the city of Santa Rosa. Our central location is convenient for local excursions as well as day trips inland and to the coast. Fun I belong to several Sonoma Valley wine clubs and would be happy to extend guest passes to you. In addition to the many, many wineries and tasting rooms in Sonoma Valley, there are at least 12 within a short walking distance of HHC. Also, I can recommend many restaurants, markets, shopping opportunities and recreational activities. Cottage HHC is situated at the northeast portion of our two-acre property and is essentially surrounded by vineyards. It is a newly constructed, contemporary and quiet, detached studio cottage—completely out of sight from my house and all surrounding homes. It has a gas fireplace for warmth and ambiance and a ceiling fan for comfort during the hotter weather. HHC has a kitchen with under counter refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The HDTV and DVD are viewable from anywhere in the cottage, as well as upgraded Wi-Fi service. Both the sleeping and seating areas look through an expansive sliding glass door, onto a private patio, my Merlot vineyard (steps away) and Sugarloaf Mountain (prominently in view). There is a gas-to-charcoal Weber grill just off the patio, Enjoy the complimentary “welcome" wine for your first night. Property The two-acre property includes a one acre (Merlot) vineyard, my house, a detached garage and HHC. A gazebo is nestled in the front garden with views to Hood Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain (please enjoy!). There is a “you cannot miss it" heritage Valley Oak in our front yard and a majestic Walnut tree at the back edge of the vineyard. Raised-beds, organic vegetable and flower gardens are within limited eye shot of the cottage patio (please feel free to wander over and look). Enjoy a stroll through the vineyard, especially fun during bud break in spring, and color change (veraison) and ripening in summer and harvest in fall. Your stroll can continue through surrounding vineyards and through one of the largest Lavender farms in the county. Sorry, but absolutely no smoking on the property. Thank you in advance for understanding. My Special Sommelier Do you want a Sommelier and Certified Wine Specialist to take you to boutique wineries, typically “off the beaten track?" My friend is available for a private tour of up to four wineries. The tour will be individualized to meet your taste and preferences and sense of adventure. (Fee negotiable but around $75/hour plus gas reimbursement). Ready to Go HHC was completed in July 2012 and is busy hosting guests! As your host, I'll be sure to help you feel comfortable during your visit and to free refreshed and re-energized when it's time to return home. See You Soon! Note: Happy Hound Vineyard Cottage is fully compliant with all laws and regulations and I am current with all required reports and payments. The TOT certificate number is: 1054N Guest AccessPlease visit the vegetable garden, walk the vineyard and enjoy the gazebo! Interaction with GuestsAvailable by text, call or email pretty much all the time to answer your questions. I love to greet guests when possible and then interact in person as much or as little as the guests desire. I don't come over to the very private cottage unless I've contacted you first. If I don't see you in passing and you don't choose to come to my front door (which is no problem), then I thank you for choosing HHC and enjoying it respectfully, and invite you back so we can meet. The NeighborhoodBeauty. The beauty of nature and the opportunity for culture in the form of great wine and food. And a short drive to everything else. TOT certificate number: 1387N Why I Fell In Love: Waking up to the early morning sound of song birds and ravens while wandering outside with a steaming cup of hot coffee only to find a mother deer and her fawn gazing up at me calmly was one experience out of many that made me fall in love with this place. Enjoying the intense greenery of the forest playing off the dappled light on the deck while lounging in a king size rocking chair and watching the sun fade to brilliant hues of red and gold with a glass of pinot noir was another. Leaning out over the balcony in the pitch blackness of night (no street lights!) as crickets came to life under a blanket of twinkling stars was yet one more reason I fell in love. Guest AccessGuests have access to everything my house has to offer. I only ask that you care for my things as you would your own. Thank you! Personal passwords for Netflix and other such sites will need to be used when using Apple TV for shows and movies. Please remember to clear those passwords before departure. Annadel, offering many recreational activities within its 5,092-acre (2,061 ha) property, is the closet park at about 5 minutes driving to the nearest entrance. A car is really the best way to get around, however, if seeing the sights is your goal, then a bicycle would suit you just fine with many state parks and wineries very close by. This area is in fact a very popular cyclist destination so be careful when you drive! The Glen Ellen market downtown is stocked like a mini Whole Foods and is only about 8 minutes by car and The Fig Cafe is delightfully romantic restaurant featuring many local wines and friendly staff. Getting AroundDriving from SFO will take approximately 90 minutes outside of rush hour and from the Oakland Airport, the commute is approximately a 1 hour and 30 minutes. This two bedroom home (over 1300 square feet of living space) is walking or biking distance to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and major wineries. This idyllic cottage rests on a year round creek in the historic Adobe Canyon and is situated in a bucolic setting. With private gardens, luminous canyon scenery and wildlife spilling through the cottage windows, you can walk to hiking trails that lead over bridges and waterfalls to spectacular vistas. Picnic at Sugarloaf Ridge or hike to bald mountain with 360 degree views of Northern California and the Golden Gate bridge. Unlike most other properties listed in Kenwood and the surrounding areas, this is not a "tract home," it is totally unique and all by itself. Privacy and seclusion in the canyon setting exemplify the experience. Compare this to the other properties you may be considering that are often located in residential neighborhoods. What have others said about their stays at the Kenwood Cottage? Here are some excerpts from our guest book (with more detailed reviews on our website): . . . We had a wonderful time for our annual visit to Sonoma and Napa and the lavender festival at Matanzas Creek winery (only 15 min away). We hung out on the deck one night and really enjoyed the spaciousness and privacy. We took long walks each morning, one up the hill to Sugar Loaf State Park and once down to Landmark Winery. . . . Silence, nature and a well-maintained cottage made our honeymoon special. I am sure we will come back in the upcoming years to celebrate anniversaries. We could not have picked a better place for our honeymoon. . . . We loved the privacy of the cottage and the sound of the creek was so relaxing. We will definitely return to the Kenwood Cottage. . . . What a wonderful way to getaway from our busy lives and spend some much needed R & R and "alone time" together. We arrived here tired, and left feeling rejuvenated and peaceful. Riding bikes to the local vineyards was our highlight and relaxing in the hot tub soothed our sore muscles. We had some of the best sleep we have gotten in the past 6 months. . . . The atmosphere here is serene and loving. I was relaxed as soon as we pulled into the driveway. . . . Sonoma Valley is the epicenter of food and wine culture, but sometimes no one wants to have to be the "D.D." on vacation. With our perfect location in the heart of Sonoma Valley, you can walk to 9 wineries within 5 blocks, and still feel like you're "getting away from it all" in our quiet neighborhood surrounded by rolling vineyards. There are also some fun restaurants and cute gift shops in our quaint neighborhood, a couple of places for coffee, and a small grocery market, all within walking distance. It's serene and breathtaking, but just a block and a half from the main route through Sonoma Valley, and near everything you'd want to experience on vacation. Hacienda Sonoma was custom-built in 2008 with vacations and entertaining in mind, so the large open spaces mean everyone can spend time together without feeling cramped. Our big bathrooms have lots of mirrors and electrical outlets, the pillow-top mattresses all have incredibly soft pillow-top mattresses and luxury linens, and the huge gourmet kitchen has high-end appliances, gorgeous serving pieces, two dishwashers, and everything you need to make entertaining fabulous. Our bocce court adjoins our french lavender field, and the outdoor living and dining spaces have views to the Zinfandel vineyard. There are flowers blooming at every time of year on our 1/3 acre property. Our regulation-sized pool table and bar make for fun evenings. Couple that with our whole-house sound system where you can dock your Mp3 or iPod, the Plasma TV with surround-sound and satellite, and a library of movies -- there's fun for all. We've got it all covered for an amazing get-away. There's even a redwood play structure in back for the little ones. Each of the bedrooms has a premium king-sized bed and full bath. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces can each seat 8 guests. Our Mediterranean gardens are full of blooming flowers, lavender, roses, grapes, and an herb garden for the convenience of our guests. Pick fresh peaches, figs, tomatoes, and mandarin oranges when in season. Even during the winter, there's something blooming in our yard, the surrounding hills are green and lush, and the pace is very relaxed at our local wineries and restaurants. Our cozy fireplaces and heated floors make winters wonderful as well! Sonoma Valley is magical, and is often described as the "Tuscany of California." Our location is a tiny neighborhood tucked behind several vineyards, shops, and restaurants, just a block and-a-half from Hwy. 12. It's a quiet and peaceful neighborhood that makes you feel like you're in the country, but close enough to walk to lots of fun destinations. We're removed from the traffic and noise of the downtown Sonoma Plaza (about 15 minutes away), but close enough for a visit to shop or dine out. Once you arrive at Hacienda Sonoma, it's hard to leave. The bocce court, lavender field, Zinfandel vineyard, and Mediterranean gardens are beautiful and serene. Walk to one of the 8 wineries within an easy walk through our neighborhood, and pick up a bottle of wine for dinner and enjoy music from one of the many local artists performing at wineries on the weekends throughout the summer. There's a farmer's market each week, just a few blocks away, and two lovely parks, each within an easy walk. There are several cute shops, a couple of restaurants, an old historic church, and a small market within just a few blocks. It's a tiny neighborhood where everyone knows their neighbors, and people wave when they walk by. We searched for 5 years for the perfect spot in Wine Country, and this is it!

This one of a kind stone lodge is located in a secluded location at the very heart of the Sonoma Valley, all 5 bedrooms are large and have a private, ensuite bath. We have a caretaker who lives just down the lane, so you can be assured of superior oversight and assistance. We now have access to a rural event facility or can help you locate a back roads venue of choice. Overview: The house is 4000 square feet including 4 bedrooms/4 bathrooms in the main house and 1/1 in the nearby guest cottage with its own full kitchen. All 5 bedrooms have ensuite baths. 2 stone fireplaces, professional kitchen, wine bar, chemical free lap pool, waterfall, 8 person spa/hot tub, stone fire-pit with extensive outdoor lounging and dining areas, bocce ball court and dedicated media room. It is situated just off the very center of the Sonoma Valley floor, at the mouth of a granite canyon which becomes Sugar Loaf State Park. The locally quarried stone walls of the first floor are over 1' thick, providing luxurious natural air conditioning. The outdoor splendor merges with the indoors as all the front-facing first floor windows bifold back to open completely. Secluded and picturesque, there are endless views to the forested peaks of the nearby state park. Rustic, country French antiques abound with an easy 'feet up' level of comfort and ease throughout. Idyllic in the summer, the house is uniquely fabulous in the winter, spring and fall. Rainy, cool days are a delight with friends or family gathering around the massive fireplace and cooking in the vast professional kitchen with its 2 islands, 2 dishwashers and room for 3 to cook simultaneously at the professional Viking range. An adjacent 14 foot wine bar affords temperature controlled refrigeration for optimal wine tasting. When temperatures drop, there is radiant heat (under the limestone flooring) so one is more than comfortable in the high-ceiling, main floor spaces. When the rainy season starts, the nearby creek fills significantly and rushes by to the valley floor. It can sound like Niagara Falls is across the way; truly delightful. There is a bocce court in the side yard and a separate theater room with 70' led screen with surround sound system. The pool is a chemical free lap pool, 12’ wide by 50’ long. The sheets will be line dried in the fresh country air (weather permitting), hand ironed and waiting for you to sleep ever-so deeply in. There is nothing to compare to gathering in front of a big fire. Often even summer nights are cool enough to allow a blaze. There are 2 stone fireplaces on the first floor. The living room fireplace is right out of the days of yore when stone lodges had oversized fireplaces as the center of the household. A unique feature is the outdoor fire-pit (can also be used for cooking) under 150 foot tall fir trees with adjacent propane or charcoal grills - a fabulous place to gather around a roaring fire as well as to cook or dine. There is firewood on the premises and all the fires will be stacked, ready for your match to set them alight. You can retain our caretaker to rebuild the fires for you daily if desired. Culinary options galore: We are so fortunate that the renowned chef John Ash and his right hand, Mei Ibach, are managing the culinary program. John Ash is often referred to as the “Father of Wine Country Cuisine”. His namesake restaurant, John Ash & Company, was the firsts culinary marvel of its type when it opened its doors in 1980. Today he is an acclaimed author and much sought after teacher, and consultant. If desired, Mei can add her unique Thai and Indonesian background to her wine country flavors - mingling exotic Malay and Chinese spices. Let Mei or John create the menu of your dreams; whether you want a big outdoor barbecue with a selection from John’s newest cook book, or a 6 course sit down extravaganza with the most exquisite wine pairings the county has to offer. Team building cooking events are very popular group activity to consider. We can make arrangements/recommendations for any of the following: Private chef for a luxury en situ experience or any and all catering Event planning Wine tastings, pairings, private tours Delivery of fresh local produce from our friends who run an organic farm Stock the frig with your list (can go to Costco for volume purchases) On site cooking classes Team building culinary workshops Daily cleaning Driver for winery tours, dining out in the area

To us, it is the most beautiful section of the Sonoma Valley. This lot is located in a canyon, the only such geographical particulars of its type in Sonoma. The Canyon provides cool and shade in the relative extreme heat of the Sonoma summers. Everything is green and cool in the shelter of Adobe Canyon in the summer and fall while the Valley is burnt and arid, grass-less hills and dusty heat. Views are spectacular to the state park that surrounds this rural location. It is so dark at night you can't see to walk without the moon and the stars are huge and ever-so bright. The house construction was started in about 1949 by a crazy naturalist who continuously added on to the property for the next 10 years or so. They did a lot of hunting in the valley up till the 1960's. There is a cement block shed behind the house that was a walk in cooler where they hung the deer and mountain lion carcasses. We still have some mountain lion in the area -but they stay up in the park, never any problem. If they find any bear they trap them and take them up to Lake County. What is now the guest cottage was actually built to house raccoons - luckily they had long departed when I took possession in 1998. The original owner had also started a tunnel under the little Adobe Canyon Rd so all the animals (who he sometimes hunted) could cross to get water in the creek. This is rather an indication of his eccentricity as even today there is not any traffic to speak of on this road for it has no outlet beyond the state park itself. I gutted the entire house in 1999. The trusses and wood ceiling in the great room were put in at that time. Getting AroundPlease inquire for shuttling service options. The SpaceOur house is located in the Hood Mountain Regional Park, a couple miles above St Francis Winery with wonderful views of Kenwood and St Francis Winery. There are hiking trails right outside the house gate to the peak of Hood Mountain and Sugar Loaf. There are plenty of wineries along Highway 12. Downtown Sonoma, Russian River Valley and Napa are all within 30-minute drive. Bring or rent bicycles if you are adventurous. We live between this Sonoma house and our San Francisco apartment with our less than 1 year old twins. Because of a couple of bad experiences with renters last year, we are now very selective and careful who we rent to this year. We do prefer renters who understand and respect that this is our house and not a hotel, as most home owners would do the same. For groups who want a bit more comfort and privacy, there is a 4th bedroom with its own bathroom available for rent as an additional charge to renting this 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom house. It's available for $180 additional per night. Please let me know if you want this addition or not in your request. Thanks! While we do have solar panels to generate most of our electricity, we would still like to remind you to turn off lights when you don't need them. You might also want to check out the stars with our equipment if you can figure out how to work them without breaking them. We don't have cable nor Internet. We have a plasma TV but not a DVD player. We don't watch TV any more. It's time to really enjoy wine country and the wonderful company of those around you. Just in case you still need to stay connected, AT&T has great signal here so you will have to use your own cell phone as a hot spot. If you do smoke, please do so outside and don't throw your cigaret butts everywhere. Please make sure they are put out before throwing them into the trash. The house is completely separate but attached to the main house where my sister and her daughter live in. So you will have complete privacy. There are 3 bedrooms with 2.5 bathrooms. Master bedroom has a king bed and the other 2 bedrooms have queen size beds. If you have children, please ask them not to jump on the beds, especially not on the antique Chinese wedding bed. The living room has large sectional sofa which can sleep 1 or 2 people. And the TV room has 2 sofas which can also sleep 2 people. If needed, I can also provide a queen size air mattress. We are only renting out the entire house with minimum 3 nights booking starting at $350 per night during low season and $450 per night during high season (mid-March to Thanksgiving). There is a wood-burning fireplace insert in the TV room and a huge open wood-burning fireplace in the living room. We have plenty of the firewood within easy reach. There is a swimming pool on our property but it is not heated and please be safe and use at your own discretion. Just as a side perk... I own a few wine stores in Shanghai and know many winery owners in Sonoma and Napa personally. So if you wish, I can recommend a list of what I believe are some of the best value and quality wines in Napa and Sonoma.

The SpaceIt's low-key and complete. No clutter. A complete kitchen with all the basics and a whole lot more (no need to buy salt, oil, etc.) Our highly-relaxed setting is an outpost for daytime activities in wine country: tasting, hiking in state parks, golfing, cycling, visiting Sonoma or Santa Rosa or Healdsburg, canoeing the Russian River, or even going out to the Pacific coast. Or just laze about the pool, listening to some music on the retro stereo (lots of CDs on premise, a few LPs, and fully mp3-capable.) Three bed, three bath on a third of an acre, with a pool and hot tub. Quiet, family-oriented neighborhood. Quiet time from 10p-9a, enforced. Two outdoor dining tables, one gas and one charcoal grill, and a shaded deck right off the kitchen. A 55-inch TV, WiFi, vintage/modern sound system, and a kitchen ready to prepare most any dinner plan. Washer and dryer, hammock, and all only 400m from the nearest winery. Restaurants in the town of Kenwood will keep the foodie amused, and other tony eateries are only 9 minutes away in Glen Ellen, or downtown Sonoma, 20 minutes by car. A "Marcus Aurelius" approach to furnishing provides guests with tranquility, and a canvas for the imagination. Relaxation has never been easier. Easy on the eyes, it's the anti-clutter home rental. In the kitchen you'll find staples--no need to run out and buy oil or spices you'll only use once. There's a serviceable market 400m away; a Whole Foods-like market is 4 miles away; and a full-on Safeway 9 miiles away, toward Santa Rosa. If you deplete something, please provide a replacement. Two (surprisingly comfortable!) air mattresses complement the bunk beds in the kids' room. The master BR features a King mattress, while the "guest" BR is furnished with a Queen. Ample closeting, washer and dryer, and ceiling fans in all the rooms that need them. Bring your dreams of relaxation and simplicity, and let the day begin. Guest AccessGuests can use entire home, except for any locked areas (a closet). Interaction with GuestsWe will not be present. The NeighborhoodFamily-oriented. Quiet, yet only 500m from wineries, great restaurants, and a few miles from stellar hiking. Blocks from winery tasting rooms and restaurants. The SpaceOur historic Glen Ellen cabin is 10 min. from wineries and fine dining in the heart of the wine county in Kenwood or Glen Ellen. We are centrally situated for visiting wineries throughout the area. County code: TOT (tax) Certificate #:1562N, quiet hrs: 10pm-7am, max guests 4, max vehicles 2. The cabin is located in our backyard, 30 feet from or house, separated by a sort of courtyard which is the shared outdoor area. You may see us in the backyard, gardening, dining, etc. The unit has a small kitchen, wi-fi, TV with Netflix programs, always hot spa. Extra people (persons #3 and #4) on the sofa bed are possible for additional fee. Come enjoy the peace, quiet and wildlife. The 480 sq ft cabin is built from old growth redwood and will take you back in time to a period when vacationers came up from San Francisco to enjoy the fresh air, scenery and the warm springs in the area. You'll feel as though you have gone away to camp! Our family has cherished this property since before the turn of the century. Our place is not a luxury property as some others you might be looking at, but rather, it has tons of character it's a great value and our guests have been finding it comfortable and relaxing for 15 years. The bed has a new queen mattress, down comforter, high count cotton sheets and extra pillows. No A/C but our ceiling fan cools you if needed which is not very often in our beautiful wine county weather. Besides the queen bed there is a (click-clack type) double futon sleeper sofa in the same room that can potentially accommodate 2 more small or medium sized adults or children. If you have booked 3 or more people, I will have the sleeper sofa made up for sleeping (including a down comforter above and below you!) when you arrive but in such a way that you can still sit on it and have plenty of room to walk around. If you have just 2 people and need both beds made up, please tell me in advance, otherwise, it will be in position as a couch, and I will have 1 bed made up for you. The outdoor (only) shower is completely private, closed in, very refreshing, and accessed through the bathroom (its not out in the yard). The original "bathroom" sink is located in the bedroom, as was common a hundred years ago. Oddly, you walk through the bathroom/closet/suitcase room room to access the kitchen. The small kitchen has a range, oven, microwave, space in the full size fridge and freezer, and I hope everything you need to cook and serve if you choose to eat "in". From blender to popcorn popper, toaster to small ice cream maker, we've tried to have it all here. Cloth napkins and ample plates, tableware and glasses are ready for you (including paper plates and napkins for the guest in a hurry). You'll find spices, baggies, paper towels, etc, and Keurig machine, coffee pods, tea bags and dry creamer, sugar and artificial sweeteners. Bring your own premium ground coffee if you prefer to use the "fill it yourself" Keurig cartridge instead of the pre-filled. The table in the main room has plenty of space to eat at and chairs for the number of guests booked(URL HIDDEN)wash all dishes you use, (it's OK to leave them clean in the drainer) and please clean up the kitchen after yourself. You might want to take your wine and food outside and sit in the patio chairs/table on a portion of the deck we have dedicated solely to our guests. There is an old fashioned padded swing seat adjacent to the spa. Going hiking? Then borrow our guest ready picnic "basket" in a backpack style kit. We've pre-loaded it with plates, napkins, small knife, cutting board, etc, everything you need to make a picnic out of yummy local food finds. Tech info: we have high speed wi-fi, a multi-charging outlet a(URL HIDDEN)side of the beds, (like we always want but never find when we travel), and our flat screen is operated with a Roku unit so you will have access to our Netflix shows and more but no cable TV. We have provided a number of games for old fashioned fun and a few wine books and misc magazines if you feel like a read. Night time: Our yard is well lit for night time enjoyment. Use of the fire pit is temporarily suspended due to high fire risk so ask if we can light it rather than lighting it yourself. Ping-pong table in shared portion of the back yard. Spa is a large Hot Springs programable temp type and is always hot, clean and ready, just hop in! If you forgot your suit we have a drawer of clean lenders you can try. We also use the spa but we won't get in at the same time as you. Morton's Warm Springs is a pool and picnic grounds next door to us. You may hear a few swimmers and their picnicking during the day (they close at 6 pm). Visit Mortons to cool off or just stroll the grounds along the creek, all with our included cabin pass at no additional charge. Our coded door lock is easy to operate with no key to lose. Just key in the 4 numbers I provide you with, and the lock will open. You have instant access, no key to pick up. We would love to meet you and check you in and spend time chatting about our favorite spots in the wine country or we are also happy leaving our guests alone for privacy, it's good either way. Our neighborhood is heavily wooded with many majestic oaks, buckeyes, maples, and more and we frequently see deer, squirrel and turkeys and hear many birds. Our beautiful country road is a favorite of bicyclers and walkers. It's a rural neighborhood, quiet at night. The cabin is directly next to a small seasonal stream and we are about 200 ft from Sonoma Creek. You can catch glimpses of it driving or walking, or go in thru Morton's during summer and explore the creek close up if you like. The creek is good fun for children. Parts are deep enough for a few strokes of swimming yet most is well suited to wading. You will want a car for transportation. We are in a rural area and although our road is a favorite of bicycle touring companies and great for nature walks, it's 2/3.5 miles to the closest wineries or store. Uber is available at our last check but allow more time than in a city for pick up. We have 2 cats onsite and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who loves everyone, especially people he's not yet met, but we'll walk him out front so your stay will be essentially dog free. We have a full office on site for our businesses so if you need to print or receive a fax, it's no problem. Please get prior OK for jobs over 10 pages. Guest AccessShared areas: Please use the spa and we also use the spa but we won't get in at the same time. We have loaner suits in the cabin if you forgot yours. The campfire and seating there is a natural gathering spot, everyone is welcome to join anyone there. Please join us if you see us there! Fires are temporarily suspended due to high fire risk (8-5-15) You may also sit down below the cabin (down the stairs) in the wooded ravine on the chairs there, a great spot for wildlife watching, or enjoy the chaises on our front lawn. Ping pong table. Guests area: inside the cabin and a small deck we have screened off from the rest of the yard/deck has chairs and a table for 4 for eating or relaxing al fresco. An old fashioned (couch style) swing is near the spa for you to enjoy. Make sure to note where the switches are for all the night time lighting you are welcome to use. Our areas: Our house, front porch, back deck, and all other areas not mentioned Interaction with GuestsWe would love to meet you and show you around the unit when we check you in. If we are not home when you arrive, I have labels on things to be self explanatory. We'd love to have a glass of wine with you around the camp fire and get to know each other if we all have time. Some travelers are too busy to socialize and that works equally well. We will most likely be present in our home and in our back yard. If you are busy with your own plans and we don't see you after check in that's great too! The NeighborhoodSee the "guidebook" for our favorite restaurants, wineries or let us know what type of place you are looking for and we can make some recommendations. Getting AroundYou will want a car for transportation, public transportation is not available. We are in a rural area and although our road is a favorite of bicycle touring companies and great for nature walks, it's 2/3.5 miles to the closest wineries or store. Set on over an acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, this open-plan estate offers you sweeping views overlooking the valley and an elevated balcony from which you can watch the sunset or the orange harvest moon rise over the rolling hills. After exploring local wineries, a swimming pool and spa await you in the gated courtyard, where you can enjoy meals under the gorgeous arbor together in the privacy of your own home. Much of the charm of Kenwood Knoll is in the details — the inviting seating in every corner of the house, eco-friendly bamboo flooring, a soapstone kitchen island intended for multiple home chefs, not to mention the fragrant floral aromas surrounding the courtyard patio, including jasmine, honeysuckle, citrus and violet wisteria vines which bloom in the early summer. Good to Know Kenwood Knoll is located in a quiet neighborhood at the top of a knoll (at the bottom is the entrance to Annadel State Park, a beautiful hiking destination). Divided into two separate buildings, the guest house at Kenwood Knoll has its own private entrance apart from the main house, an especially ideal setup for multiple families travelling together. The guest house boasts an ensuite, queen-size bedroom just steps from the outdoor patio and pool area, along with an adjacent suite housing two twin beds. In addition, each of Kenwood Knoll’s air-conditioned bedrooms provide you with direct access to the outdoors and the winding trails that explore the property’s ancient oak woods.
