This is an amazing neighborhood, walking distance to the Lake and the Forest that make up Lake Forest. :)
The downstairs has a half-bath right by the front door, a "great room" with living/dining areas, coat closet, and a kitchen with a good-sized pantry, as well as a laundry/storage room on the back patio with a full sized washer and dryer.
The living room has a comfortable Costco couch as well as other seating. The couch can be used for sleeping if needed, but we would prefer people just use the beds/air mattresses.
The kitchen is all electric, and isn't huge, but it has a new Bosch dishwasher, and newer nice JennAir ceramic glass cooktop, oven, and microwave mounted above the range, to allow for more counter space. A large bottom-freezer refrigerator also is included. It is stocked with all the tools a home chef might need, within reason. :)
The downstairs is entirely tiled with light beige 18" faux travertine flooring.
The three bedrooms are all upstairs, along with a full bathroom (shower/tub combination). There is a big linen closet in the hallway. The large master bedroom with "real" queen bed has a huge walk-in closet (see picture) and its own big extra sink/vanity near the bathroom entry. The bathroom can be entered from either the main hallway or the master bedroom; it has two doors. Along with the closet, the master bedroom will come with a huge ceiling height open IKEA PAX wardrobe, so guys can use it while ladies can take the whole walk-in closet, if desired. :)
The upstairs, other than the master vanity area and bathroom (which have the same tile as downstairs), is all light tan plush carpet. The second bedroom (used as an office in the past) has a desk stocked with basic office supplies, an IKEA Expedit shelving unit, and three bookshelves; air mattresses can be added to make it a bedroom. The third bedroom has a "real" full bed, a closet with a safe, and a Lane cedar chest window seat. Let us know how many people you have and what your needs will be, and we will set up the air mattresses.
We have two side-by-side assigned, covered carports close to the townhome, and there are no parking stickers, guest policies, etc. -- visitors or extra cars can go in any of the uncovered spaces (there are plenty) or on the street, which is just across a shared grassy area that the neighborhood kids love to play on.
To be clear, this is a townhome, with shared walls. Our immediate neighbors on both sides have respectful elementary/toddler-aged kids, and are very nice. We never hear them talking from inside our place, unless they're directly outside, and otherwise we might hear minor thumps, etc., but nothing like apartment living!
We have replaced all of the sinks/vanities, and gutted and remodeled the kitchen from scratch with granite countertops and new cabinets. The overall decor could be described as Pinterest-y modern French, I guess? :)
The walls are all very light "decorator" beige, with the exception of the downstairs bath, which has Tiffany blue walls. The downstairs also has high, glossy white crown molding and baseboards in the main areas. The paint, molding, flooring, etc. all have been added since we bought it.
It's a far cry from a mansion, but we love it. We've been upgrading the place since we bought it as a fixer in 2007, as we planned to live in it for a long time, but my husband couldn't ignore the startup job opportunity he was extended in West LA, so we are moving closer to his work for at least the next year, as he can't take the train to his job. If you want to take the train to downtown LA or anywhere that the Metrolink or Metro goes, you're in luck, as the Irvine train station is very, very close and has free parking. A prior guest worked in downtown LA.
Please reply with some details about yourself if you're interested! Guest AccessGuests will have access to the full house, including the laundry room. Most personal items will be removed from the house, but anything off-limits will be clearly marked. We use a portion of the laundry room for personal storage. Interaction with GuestsWe can offer you as much or as little interaction as you want/need; restaurant, activity and "secret OC" advice will be freely given, and services like grocery shopping prior to your arrival and airport pickups may be available for a fee, depending on availability. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is great; lots of trees and nature. For those who aren't familiar with Orange County, North OC is lots of densely packed concrete sprawl. Our part of South OC, on the border of Irvine, is forested, set back from the street, and gives the feeling of being in a beautiful rural area, yet right near all the sights. For longer stays (a few months or more), I think we could transfer our Sun and Sail Club membership to you/your family if you want, which means access to the big clubhouse, loads of pools, spa, gym, etc. For shorter stays, we can arrange for you to purchase inexpensive guest passes for day use. The club is easy walking distance from the townhouse, about a half mile. When we bought the place, we could see part of the lake from our windows, as we're up on the hill across Toledo from the lake, but the pine trees have grown pretty dense since then -- it's more of a peek-a-boo view now. :) The Serrano Creek trail also is right next to our street; it's a beautiful walking/biking trail that leads up into beautiful hiking trails in the nearby hills and mountains. Up the trail/street, maybe a mile or less, are horse stables and a shopping center with a Ralphs, CVS, etc. We see the horse owners walking their horses on the trail often. Otherwise, we're just a few minutes from the Bake Parkway or Lake Forest Drive 5/405 freeway exits. It's super quick to get to either. From there, Disneyland, Knotts, the Wild Animal Park, OC's famous beaches like Laguna and Newport, and mountain biking and hiking are just a short jaunt away. Saddleback Church is nearby, too. Getting AroundPublic buses serve all of the major streets around the neighborhood, including Bake Parkway, Lake Forest Drive, Jeronimo Road, and Trabuco Road. The nearest Metrolink train station is located at 15215 Barranca Parkway, Irvine. Other Things to NoteSorry for the novel, but I figured it's better for people to have too much information than too little!
