The SpaceNewly decorated, spacious 650 sq ft guest house, with new flooring, seating, bedding, and T.V . It has one queen size bed so is suitable for two adults maximum. It is located about 75ft from the main house and set back a little on the other side of the driveway so it is private. Guest AccessKitchen is roomy with dishes, silverware, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, Tea kettle and gas stove. Wi Fi is available. Deck has a nice view of meadow in front and ocean about 1/4 mile away. It should be noted that AT&T and T Mobile doesn't work at the house, works in the village though. Interaction with GuestsWe are here most of the time. We will be here for check in, and to answer any questions, otherwise we won't bother your peace and quiet. The NeighborhoodWe are located on 5 acres at the top of a hill on a quiet country lane, very close to the village. Getting AroundOur lane comes off of highway 1 and is a short drive to Mendocino. No sidewalks, so we do not recommend walking to town. Other Things to NoteBicycle and Kayak rentals are available at Big River here in Mendocino. The Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg are very nice and boats in the Noyo harbor are available for charter fishing and whale watching when the season is right. The Skunk train is also fun.

The SpaceThis comfortable country home was originally built on the property in 1921 and has been lovingly restored over the past few years. A light and sun filled house is surrounded by acres of meadows and forest lands. World class hiking and biking trails surround the property. The beds and bedding are all new and high quality. There is a fireplace for ambiance, and the house is comfortably heated with a propane heater. We have wood floors throughout the house with throw rugs. A bathtub for soaking, and a tiled shower are both available. There is an outbuilding that hosts a second bathroom, annexed by the P shed, which is an open air urinal and rustic sink! A glass house lit by a sparkling chandelier is a sweet place to enjoy the natural sights and surrounds. A queen size bed in the private bedroom sleeps two, and a fold out couch in the main room could hold two more. A smaller, light filled enclosed sleeping porch type room has a twin bed suitable for an additional person, or daytime napping! NEW ADDITION is our "glamping" (glamour camping) tent cabin. It sits on the edge of the meadow near the house, and has a comfy queen sized bed, heated mattress pad, down comforter and nice pillows, night tables with electric lighting, cushy rug, lounging chair and a dresser for personal items. The deck holds chairs for overlooking the meadow and the nearby farmhouse. The tent cabin is about 30 steps from the outside bathroom and 60 from the main house. The tent cabin has an additional nightly charge of $80.00 for either one or two people. Guest AccessThe privacy of the house is yours to enjoy. The kitchen is fully supplied with all the cookware, appliances and dishware that you will need to prepare a fine meal using the new appliances including a propane stove, dishwasher, and full size fridge. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help you get settled and give you any information about our place and the general area that you request. We are on the other side of the 40 acres, and are available if you need us, but will plan on leaving you to enjoy your privacy. The NeighborhoodJackson State Forest surrounds us, and is a terrific place to hike, bike, and enjoy nature. Big River is a few short miles away from us, and is a perfect place to spend a either at the beach or at the river. Mendocino is full of art galleries, fine restaurants, shopping and parks. Anderson Valley with its world class wine tasting is only one hour away. The Skunk Train and Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg are enjoyable ways to spend a day. Getting AroundHaving a car is important here, though there certainly are people who do what they need by bicycle. * Special gifts are granted to those guests who do not use a car! Other Things to NoteRate INCLUDES county bed tax of 11%. You will enjoy your time here without a strong connection to media and electronics. There is only spotty cell service at this property, and there is no television or wi-fi in the house. If you want to watch movies, you could bring your lap top or other device. A Bose stereo for playing your music, or podcasts, or books on "tape" through your i-pod or phone is available. Board games, books and lawn games are supplied. We hope you'll embrace this special opportunity to relax around a fire and laugh + sing + play together. If you would like to add the luxury tent cabin with the queen bed to your stay, we will add $80.00 nightly to your quote, and get it ready for you.

I've had many enjoyable conversations with those who have wished to connect with me, and am happy to offer recommendations for places to visit and to eat. The SpaceA PRIVATE RETREAT As you wind your way down my private road, off the beaten path, you will find my three story country house tucked in the redwood forest with trees all around. My seven acre property affords complete privacy from the outer world but the town of Mendocino is just minutes away. Rent my Forest View Room upstairs and you will feel like you are staying in the treetops. UNIQUE DESIGN ELEMENTS The room has high ceilings and lots of light. There is a queen size bed, and antique rocking chair, a recliner and a bookshelf with a variety of books. My photos do not do justice to this room as it is impossible to capture the feeling of the vertical space that is part of the rooms design. SUITE OF ROOMS FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT You will have a suite of rooms, the Forest View Room, a room across the hall with hardwood floors, table and chairs, hand crafted by my great grandfather and a food prep area off to the side, with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, teapot and refrigerator. You will find granola or cold cereal, milk, and fruit for your morning enjoyment. Just down the hall, you will have a PRIVATE BATHROOM with mexican paver tile floors, a big tiled walk in shower with bench and a six foot long claw foot bathtub. The solar collecting greenhouse for this solar home is adjacent to the bathroom through antique oak french doors. From the chair on the balcony of the greenhouse you can look out over the forest and meadow below. Deer wander by regularly and you might catch a glimpse of Mr. Fox. SEPARATE ENTRANCE There is a separate upstairs guest entrance. Though in winter guests may prefer to use the main door which is still private as there is an additional door to the remainder of the house. HOT TUB IS ALWAYS ON The hot tub is now up and running. Soak under a giant redwood tree and wake up while enjoying the sounds of the forest. Also nice during the full moon and on starry nights. The hot tub is around the back of the house and is extremely private. SPECIAL RATE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES RENTING BOTH ROOMS! A note to families and friends who don't mind sharing the bathroom. I offer a special rate of $210 for this room and my Moon Room. I love hosting families and even have some books and toys I can bring out to make this room a fun space for your children. YURT/ART STUDIO On my property you will also find a 27 foot yurt, surrounded by a ring of redwood trees. The yurt functions as my art/music studio and is the home of my expressive arts therapy practice. Use of the yurt can be added to your stay when I am not using it. The yurt is a great place to relax, read, write, do some art or music or just enjoy the forest. Guests are welcome to play with the art supplies and musical instruments as part of their stay. There are paints, chalk and oil pastels, charcoal, colored pencils, colored pens and lots of paper. In other areas you will find collage making supplies, clay and a writing table. There are musical instruments of all types, a piano, drums, rhythm instruments etc. It is a fun place to explore. It guarantees a fun evening after a day out exploring. If you would like you can talk to Marilyn, the owner and expressive arts therapist about having a "creativity playshop" while you are here. You can also sign up for a "creative sparks" retreat. MENDOCINO ATTRACTIONS You will be 7 minutes drive from the town of Mendocino, with its headlands, art galleries, shops and restaurants, close to Van Damme and Russian Gulch State Parks, twenty minutes from Ft. Bragg with more beaches, parks, a beautiful botanical garden and more. There are beautiful walks right out your door that lead you through Jackson State Forest. You can walk to Big River State Park but it is a bit tricky as trails are not marked. There is much to do and explore or you can just retreat in this beautiful little hideaway. INTERNET, CELL PHONES, HOUSE PHONE AND MISC. AND DISCLAIMERS There is wireless internet access on the property but it is probably slower than what you are used to. It works well for internet and emails but does not allow streaming. Cell phone coverage is spotty at my house and the area as well. Verizon and smaller carriers work in some places on the property. ATT only works in town. The house phone is available for your use. A stair lift can accommodate those who would have difficulty with stairs. When you book with airbnb, the 11% county bed tax is already included in your $120 room rate. One night stays during the week are possible close to the date you want to stay but please communicate first. Minimum 2 night stay on weekends. WINTER WEATHER WARNING: Living in the forest, we sometimes lose power in the big winter storms. It wouldn't just be my house, but the general area. Should that happen, I have emergency supplies to get you through until the power returns. Still it is an inconvenience as with no power there is no water since it comes from a well and needs electricity to pump to the house. I do have a porta-potty in the forest and bottles of water stored in the house. Fireplaces downstairs provide heat. Usually the outages are short lived. Guests who have been here when the power is out have graciously enjoyed the adventure. (Especially the oatmeal I cooked for them over my camp stove one morning.) Guest AccessThere is lots of quiet and privacy at my seven acre forest retreat. Basically the second floor of the house is yours to enjoy. You will have your own separate entrance. Guests have access to the Forest View Room, a private bathroom, a seating area in in the solar collecting green house loft which looks out over the meadow. There is an additional room that serves as a semi-kitchen/dining room with small refrig, microwave, toaster and coffee and tea making supplies. So cooking possibilities are limited and the kitchen downstairs is off limits. The yurt art studio is available when I'm not using it. If you play the piano, arrangements can be made to play the grand piano in my living room. There is a piano in the yurt as well. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy greeting guests and welcoming you to my home. I am happy to answer any questions you might have and provide all my local recommendations. I'm always happy to visit, show guests my yurt/art studio, and arrange to share my grand piano in my living room, but am completely respectful of those who just want to be left to themselves to enjoy my property and Mendocino on their own. I work as an expressive arts therapist am available to facilitate creative arts sessions in my yurt. The NeighborhoodYou will be surrounded by forest but its just a 7 minute drive on a country road to the town of Mendocino, with its headlands, art galleries, shops and restaurants, close to Van Damme and Russian Gulch State Parks, twenty minutes from Ft. Bragg with more beaches, parks, a beautiful botanical garden (best in spring and summer) and more. There are beautiful walks right out your door that lead you through Jackson State Forest and to Big River State Park, however, trails here are not marked. There is much to do and explore or you can just retreat in this beautiful little hideaway. Getting AroundPublic transit is non-existent. A sad comment on rural living. Other Things to NoteDon't forget to check out my special rate for both rooms for friends and families! Reservations for one night stays only available just before the time of your stay. Inquire first please.

The SpaceA PRIVATE GET-A-WAY Come down my quiet country lane and you will find our three story custom designed country home sitting in a beautiful meadow surrounded by the redwood forest. My seven acre property is bounded on two sides by Jackson State Forest and is completely private with forest all around yet its just minutes from town. Inside you will enjoy high ceilings, large beam construction and all the welcome of a warm country home. KITCHEN/DINING AREA Downstairs has a large well equipped kitchen, and open dining area with sliding glass door to the south facing deck. You can eat at the small round table in the kitchen or the larger dining table in the adjacent area. There is country antique furniture in the room, giving it old style charm. LIVING ROOM Step down into a large living room with cathedral ceiling and a seven foot grand piano. You'll find a flat screen TV with DVR, Stereo and DVD. The couch here is a queen size hide-a-bed and there is an extra long twin bed in this room also. A wooden counter top surrounds a hand thrown pottery sink. SECOND FLOOR BEDROOMS Upstairs you will find two large bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed and country antique furniture. Glass french doors lead into the attached solar collecting greenhouse. This house was a solar house experiment from the 1980's. Heat is collected in the greenhouse and blown to a rock bed under the house which radiates heat up through the floor. It helps with the heat but we have added a forced air heating system as well. Antique french doors with leaded pane glass lead from the greenhouse into the bathroom. Across the hall from the bathroom is an additional bedroom with a queen size bed, lots of books a rocking chair and a comfortable recliner. A loft above (not accessible) provides and interesting design feature in the room. Both rooms have lots of light even with windows all around. There is a 6' claw foot bathtub which adds oodles of charm to the room. THIRD FLOOR/ATTIC BEDROOM The third bedroom is in an attic space above the sun room with glass french doors that look out over the whole property and a skylight over the queen size bed so you can take in the night sky. You will feel like you are living with the birds as they fly by at eye level. Guests will need to use the bathroom on the second floor. Also the entrance to this room is accessed through the bathroom so it takes a bit of planning around privacy for other bathroom users YURT/ART STUDIO CAN BE ADDED FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT There is a 27 foot yurt/art studio on the property which can be added for an extra fee. It is full of art supplies and musical instruments, including another piano. This property provides many delightful ways to entertain yourself through out your stay. INTERNET, CELL PHONES, HOUSE PHONE, MISC The house has satellite TV and DSL internet. Rural internet is challenging, slower, no doubt than what you are used to but works well for email and searching the web. It doesn't work for streaming media. Cell phone coverage is spotty. There is an excellent, quiet, propane heater in the yurt that heats up quickly. The Bath House is for your own private use and is a short stroll from the Yurt. It has 1 indoor shower(slate and black cobbled stones) and toilet, with 2 outside showers(redwood walls with blue cobbled stones) and 1 outside entrance toilet as well. There are 2 sinks, with many cubbies to put things in, and hooks all around. The slate floor has an in-floor heating system - its wonderful! There is a large toaster oven, small refrigerator(tiny freezer), hot plate and instant hot water spigot. There are pots and pans, glasses, mugs, plates, etc. for you to use. We have a charcoal BBQ that is shared between the Yurt space and our other rental place, down closer to the main house. Just let us know if you want to use it! No unnatural fragrances are used for cleaning. The Watsu Pool's heat is only turned on for clients, so its closed up and locked unless sessions are scheduled. Watsu sessions are $140 and are generally an hour. (I tell people to allow for 90 min) If guests want to use the pool during their stay, there's a $300. - $400.propane heating charge, depending on the time of the year. Its divine! :) Outside the Yurt, there's a hammock, picnic table, chairs and bench. Outside the fenced area is a campfire ring, with redwood rounds as seats, and firewood. Cell coverage is spotty, but one can usually get text's if you use Verizon. There is no internet in the Yurt. This is the place to disconnect! :) and to reconnect to the natural world! I do have my work phone up there that is unplugged. You are welcome to use it for an emergency. Infant/Toddler - One time $25. charge per child After 2 guests, each person will pay $35/per night. Pets: $25/per dog Guest AccessYou're welcome to walk through the redwood mixed forest, with its seasonal stream. Its a spectacular zone especially during sunset times. We share our place with bobcats, coyote's, fox, deer, turkeys, skunks, owls, hawks and many more of the natural wild world. We occasionally have a bear meandering through, and have seen mountain lion tracks a few times. We have 3 large dogs, and welcome yours. Our cats hang out in the barn, and the 2 horses are either around the barn area or out wandering the pastures and forest. Interaction with GuestsWe live on property, so will be here if you need us. Otherwise we're very careful about giving guests their privacy. Other Things to NoteMy Watsu Pool is available for Yurt guests to use(for your entire stay) with an extra propane heating fee of $300 - 400., depending on the time of year. Its a gorgeous, in ground, 24 ft diameter round pool ,within an enclosed building. Its sanitized with an Ionizer(using copper and silver), so there's no chlorine smell. Watsu sessions are an additional $140. per session. for an hour session. I tell people to count on around 90 minutes from start to finish.

The SpaceThe location is gifted with deer, squirrels, wild turkeys, owls, and migrating birds! The bed is brand new! It is located 4 miles from Mendocino Village and 5 miles to Fort Bragg, CA. It takes about 4 minutes to walk down the hill to Caspar Beach. Guest AccessGuests will have a large bedroom, new queen sized bed, closet, writing table and ocean view. You will have a large bathroom to yourselves and may use the living-dining room and kitchen which is fully stocked. However, there is no dishwasher nor microwave. There is no TV nor wi-fi. You can relax on two decks in the sun, one with a view of the ocean and Caspar Bay. My office and my bedroom where I live are off limits. There is parking in the driveway. Interaction with GuestsI prefer to be present at check-in and am known as a sweet, warm hostess. The last Japanese guests called me Mama San! I am a wealth of knowledge about the Mendocino Coast. The NeighborhoodI love my neighborhood as it is very quiet, neighbors are friendly and there is no traffic. The walk to the beach takes only 4 minutes! Getting AroundThere is an MTA bus at my corner that connects to AMTRAC, to SFO and Oakland Airport. One can also take the Sonoma County bus from SFO or Oakland airport to Santa Rosa and then the MTA to my corner. Please park in GUEST PARTING. Other Things to NoteThe view is unbelievable and you can see the beach from your window. To create a simple living rural experience I chose to have no wi-fi, no TV, no microwave, and no dishwasher.

Interaction with GuestsI am available to help you in any way before/during/after your stay - long distance as I live in Southern California. But I have an army of vetted contractors who have lived and worked in the Mendocino area for many years and know my property intimately. The NeighborhoodMy house sits on a 1-acre parcel of land. Most homes in the area occupy even more. Point being, it's very quiet and most of the neighbors are at a distance from my home. You hear the sound of the ocean and wildlife like birds, not conversations of your next door neighbor. Other Things to NoteThere is a fee called TOT (transient occupancy tax) of 10% and BID (business improvement tax) of 1% for Mendocino which needs to be paid separate of the per night charge. Rentals 30 days or longer will require a signed rental contract per California law.

The SpaceOcean views, inside and out, this stand alone cottage has a completely private front yard patio with outdoor fireplace facing the ocean, as well as a private side yard and sitting area in the jasmine garden. Inside, a large Victorian bathtub, kitchen with 4 burner electric stove, countertop oven, microwave, and all the pots, pans, utensils and plates you will need for cooking and dining in, as well as a dining table, satellite tv and high speed internet. The outdoor wood fireplace is next to a hibachi grill on the front patio, by the table and chairs facing the headlands and ocean. The cottage is located on the west side of the highway, across the street from the Caspar headlands, which has trails leading to the bluff top bench (shown in photos) and down to Caspar beach. (NOTE: The trails are often hidden by brush because they are untrodden and thus hard to find--which means you will likely have the trails and blufftop seat all to yourselves!) The cottage is also walking distance from the outstandingly beautiful Jughandle beach and state park, with additional trails and coves. It is 3 miles north of Mendocino and 4 miles south of Fort Bragg in the blink-and-you-miss-it village of Caspar. Guest AccessCottage is enclosed by gate and fencing --space including front and side yard is completely the guests' and and fully enclosed for privacy. Interaction with GuestsI will be around if you need me and would love to meet and chat --but not if you don't want to. The NeighborhoodThe cottage is located in a peaceful and tourist free location from which you will not see other people. The village of Caspar is home to about 250 people and a refuge from the busier towns of mendocino and fort Bragg but only 5 minutes away. The town has a community center, which can be booked for weddings. The community center also offers classes, hosts music and dance events, and farmers markets. Caspar headlands trail is across the street, which leads down to Caspar beach and out to a bench with a beautiful overlook. To get there, walk down the driveway, make a left and walk to the end of the road, where will you will see a gate. Walk through the gate and you will be on the trail to the Caspar headlands and bluff top bench. From there, if you take the fork to the left, this will lead you down to Casper beach. NOTE: The trails are often hidden by brush because they are untrodden and thus hard to find--which means you will likely have the trails and bluff top seat all to yourselves! Or you can walk 3/4 of a mile north up Caspar road to Jughandle State Park, which has one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast and several hidden coves and hiking trails. Getting AroundBus stop down the road. Other Things to NoteThe farmers market runs April through October and is every Wednesday between 3 and 6 PM in Fort Bragg and every Friday between 12 and two In Mendocino. If you're coming for an extended stay we highly recommend you bring up the spices you need to cook and you go to the local farmers markets for the freshest locally sustainable ingredients. Our cleaning staff tends to throw out spices and condiments left by other guests. Harvest market and Safeway in fort Bragg both have pre-marinated pre-seasoned steak, chicken and vegetable kebabs as well as salad bars so you are ready to go and cook with no fuss-no-Muss.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CALENDAR IS NOT ACTIVE- you can call us directly for availability - 'S Wonderful, 'S Marvelous... When George & Ira Gershwin wrote that terrific song, they must have been thinking of Bluff House of Mendocino. It is wonderful and marvelous in its setting on the northern edge of Mendocino... on the bluffs above the Pacific, sometimes raging, always beautiful. with two bedrooms, two baths in the main house... + a cozy cottage... and less than a mile from Mendocino. Bluff House is suitable for up to four people in the main house + 2 more in the cottage ... for two, four or six people. In the main house, the master bedroom is downstairs with a full ocean view... the 2nd bedroom is upstairs, along with a sitting-room loft . Bluff Cottage - just on the other side of a stone patio - has a lovely bedroom, a generous bath a dining alcove (with a terrific ocean view) , flat-screen TV and, on the patio just outside the door, a large hot tub Back to the main house... the kitchen, with a dining area, is spacious and great for “gathering-round” at lunch time or for the cocktail hour... the sunset hour. Visitors come to Mendocino even in the winter and some live for the storms... to watch them roll in, wind-driven with huge waves. Storms can be awe-inspiring whether you're out walking along the Mendocino Headlands or standing on the bluff above the raging ocean at Bluff House ... or warm and cozy inside, at the huge picture windows ... or with a glass of wine in front of the fireplace. OR ,,, Go ahead... brave it out on the point at the gazebo. That fresh rain on the wind does wonders for the complexion. But you might have a better idea... You're on vacation... Settle back in the soft chairs, get lost in a movie on the large, flat-screen tv above the fireplace or - and maybe this is the best idea take a wonderful nap Out on the point there's a charming gazebo above the ocean… a great place to sit and stare west towards Japan... out past the Mendocino Headlands... watch the surf roll in or, in the evening it's a great place to sip a glass of wine and glory in the sunset. And once in awhile, a mysterious, magical fog hangs over the coast making for a beautiful wonderland... and you’ll be humming that Gershwin tune, “… ‘S Wonderful, ‘S Marvelous…” Taxes and fees included in rates. 3 or 4 day minimum stays over holidays. On the northern edge of Mendocino... in a dramatic, oceanfront setting. Less than a mile to the center of Mendocino Village.

PINE BEACH HOUSE -PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CALENDAR IS NOT ACTIVE- you can call us directly for availability Most oceanfront homes along the Mendocino Coast are built on bluff edges high above the ocean and the rocks at the base of the bluffs. It is rare to find homes sited above or with access to a beach. Pine Beach House is one of those rare breeds.... pleasantly sited above Pine Beach with a gentle walking trail leading down to the beach and ocean. From the House or from the Beach, there are outstanding views out over the beach to the rolling ocean, or for watching a sunset... or the raging, dramatic ocean during a storm. With two bedrooms, two baths and a pull-out couch, Pine Beach House is suitable for up to six people and, for even larger groups, Windrift Cottage, immediately next door, can also be reserved - a studio with a queen-sized bed plus a pull-out couch - with both the House and the Cottage - up to 10 people. Pine Beach House is, without a doubt, a real find. It's a piece of magic on the Mendocino Coast. Cozy and comfortable are words often overused.... BUT... it's the best way to describe Pine Beach House. .... and cozy and comfortable are what people are looking for in a vacation rental. You've found it.... Pine Beach House at Mendocino - perfect for a couple or for a amily or friends up to a total of six people. The kitchen, with a large center island (4 bar stools) plus a small dining table is spacious and great for gathering-round at lunch time or for the cocktail hour... the sunset hour. Guests at Pine Beach House naturally gravitate to the large deck equipped with a terrific hot tub where the ocean views are even more impressive, drawing everyone to views of the ocean and to the sandy Pine Beach. The ocean, always beautiful and impressive, can be spectacular during the stormy season, with huge breakers crashing in to the beach. The days, whether they be stormy or calm and beautiful are a part of every guest's time at Pine Beach House - all to become memories. One of the highlights in being at Pine Beach House is the beach down below and the lovely walk down the hill to get to the beach where you might stroll and explore. Then there is Jughandle State Preserve with its beautiful headlands.... just a short two-minute stroll away. If you aren't the hardy type, you can be excused if you choose to sit by the fire with a favorite book and a cup of tea or a glass of wine. But don't forget to take in the views, especially in the evening.... those sunsets can be mesmerizing. Set on a bluff above the ocean and above Pine Beach, its namesake, Pine Beach House is one of the more-sought-after vacation rentals on the Mendocino Coast. Cozy and perfect whether for two, four or six people... so gather round for breakfast... with a view, for lunch... with a view, for dinner... with a view, or for cocktails & stunning sunsets. PINE BEACH HOUSE ... a perfect getaway !! Located just south of Fort Bragg (just 2 miles) & north of Mendocino (6 miles). Sun, sea, sand, whales, birds... and you.
