We just finished having some plumbing work done, so our calendar is open at this point. Flowers from spring are still in bloom in the hills, but its summer and fishing season! Give yourself a summer get-away weekend (or week), or plan a vacation for your family. Weather is great for hiking and picnics., The cabin has wrap around decks looking out on a forested area. Great mountain cabin getaway that's cozy for 2 but can sleep up to 10 people all in beds make this a versatile winner! $150/night or$550/week. Slightly higher seasonal pricing for holiday periods. BBQ outside, read on the deck, take a walk to Sugar Pine Lake, and build a crackling fire in the fireplace during the evening. Staircases that can't be shut off make it inappropriate for families with very small children. Our great mountain getaway is centrally located to all of the things that this wonderful area has to offer. In the springtime, the mountains are just gorgeous, with wildflowers abloom, redbud and dogwood trees, rolling green hills. For the summer time, we are members of the Sugar Pine Lake Assoc, so you have a private swimming lake (w/ sandy beach) only a block from the cabin. Pinecrest Lake and Day Park is an easy 20-30 minute drive up the hill. Our privately owned cabin is in a nice wooded area of Sugar Pine, just 3 miles above Twain Harte. There is a great ice skating rink in Long Barn, only 8 miles away at a very reasonable cost. In the winter, you'll be a mere 22 miles from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort and 25 miles from Leland High Sierra Snow Play. There is a great ice skating rink in Long Barn, only 8 miles away at a very reasonable cost. We have some inexpensive “snow toys” in the basement just waiting for you! Our cabin is at approximately 4500 SF, high enough to be fairly cool in the summer and close to Dodge Ridge for winter sports, but low enough you rarely have to deal with snow on the roads during the winter. Our cabin is fairly secluded, with only the Sugar Pine "Fishing Lake" across the road and the Sugar Pine Swimming Lake less than a block away. We have plenty of parking with a large carport and 2nd drive so you can easily get vehicles off the road. It's easy to find, right off Highway 108, only 3 miles past Twain Harte, and we'll send you an easy for follow map with directions when you reserve the cabin. There's golf in Twain Harte, historic mining town in Colombia, and amazingly good theatre arts productions in Sonora in addition to all the outdoor activities inherent in a mountain stay. The SpaceThis secluded cabin is heaven for (almost) everyone... It's heaven for you and your significant other if you want to get away from it all (incl. the kids - don't forget grandma's long-standing offer ;- ). Spend some quality time together. Go hiking in woodsy Mi-Wuk or in the Emigrant Wilderness - the number of trails is unlimited. Explore Sonora's colorful Farmer's Market. Go wine-tasting in Murphys. Or just relax at your new-found home which with its abundance of light just exudes peace and tranquility. You really can't find a more romantic getaway! The cabin can also be heaven for you and your kids. You can swim, rent a boat or just lie on the sandy beach at Pinecrest Lake (free, no membership required). You can go river rafting, skiing at Dodge Ridge, sledding, or ice skating in nearby Long Barn. And there is fast and reliable WiFi, cable TV and a DVD player for when you come home after an activity-packed day and just want to chill. The cabin can be your own personal retreat if you feel the need to unwind and decompress. When was the last time you were alone? Go hiking, read a book, listen to music and your own thoughts - experience the power of solitude and come home to your family and job entirely refreshed. The cabin is definitely for everyone in San Francisco who wants to escape the eternal summer fog, see some blue skies instead of layers and layers of grey clouds, and soak up the rejuvenating sun. Yes, there is a real California out there - and it's less than three hours from the city and the trip is shorter and definitely more relaxing than driving to Tahoe. A note of warning though before you get too carried away and start daydreaming about booking a weekend in this little piece of paradise. You may not want to bring your teenaged children! Mi-Wuk is not South Tahoe, Sonora is not San Francisco. Our son loved coming with us to this area until he was 16 when all of a sudden computer games and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) became all-consuming and "nature" was just a big bore. I give him 10 years until he realizes the foolishess of his ways! What our son is missing is a two-floor cabin that with its 1300 sq. ft. feels cozy yet spacious. The main floor has cathedral ceilings, a kitchen that is stocked with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal, a dining area seating six, and a bathroom with shower and tub. There is a washer and dryer and we provide you with plenty of linen and towels. In the open living room you can enjoy the cozy comfort of a wood-burning stove (wood provided). There are two sofas which turn into comfortable beds. A sliding door leads out to a large wrap-around deck where you can always find a sunny spot and enjoy the incredible views over pine and cedar trees. A queen-size bed is in the spacious loft. Wake up to the chirping birds or the gentle sounds of the stream running through the property. Yes, this is heaven and you are more than welcome! Interaction with GuestsWhile you're enjoying the beauty of the Sierras we're slaving away in the Bay Area ;-( But if your travels take you to San Francisco or Berkeley before you head to the mountains we'd love to meet over a beer (Peter) or a cup of coffee (Alison).

The SpaceOur remarkable Mi-Wuk Village "cabin" (as it's called, though it has 1600 square feet) is 15 miles east of Sonora on Highway 108 in the heart of the Western Sierra Nevada at 4400 foot elevation. Two large bedrooms upstairs, plus sprawling downstairs. Visitors complain they have trouble leaving the deck, since the cabin directly borders and dramatically overlooks the Stanislaus National Forest--our 'backyard'. I am newly listing this on airbnb, but have been doing so on VRBO for many years. Please check out the reviews there for listing six six six three three. It is the best reviewed cabin in the entire Tuolumne County. We've had hundreds of visitors over the past twenty years and five guest books full of their joys and discoveries. The house is very warm, friendly, well-equipped, quirkily aesthetic, book-lined and clean, but please know that our family and guests use it extensively, so don't expect a pristine showplace home. I need to emphasize this point; please expect a rustic cabin not a manicured condo. The cabin is equipped with outdoors hot tub, wireless broadband, fireplace, washer and dryer, DVD/VCR extended Cable TV (on an older TV), full kitchen, piano, pingpong table, dartboard, foosball table, a jillion books, guidebooks galore, and lots of kids' and nature art. The house is technically on half an acre but is actually on many thousands of acres since it is perched on a hill bordering and overlooking the national forest. There are unobtrusive neighbors on adjoining side lots but the backyard vista is completely natural... and accessible. There is a wonderful feeling of privacy and solitude. Deer, birds and even, once, a bear have been spotted in our yard! A 90 minute hike (of some steepness) takes you to a gorgeous nook of the North Fork of the Tuolumne River. Many other mountain treats are available within short car ride. Dodge Ridge Ski Resort (and cross-country trails) and Leland Snowplay (sledding) are 13 and 16 miles respectively up the road, with other sledding closer still. The Sierra in summertime offers wonderful fishing, hiking, lake (or pool) swimming, river rafting, bicycling, etc. Yosemite is a scenic 90 minute drive from the cabin. There are local tennis and golf facilities easily available too. Guest AccessThe cabin is well stocked. Everything in it is at your disposal. I just ask that if you use the last of something, you let me know so I can restock Interaction with GuestsMy notorious "Endless Screed", which I will email you upon confirmation, provides copious (to a fault!) area info--hikes, skiing, fishing, shopping, resources--as well as all the basic info. I am available by phone and email to assist and advise you The NeighborhoodMiwuk Village itself is basically a wide spot in the road, with a convenience store, mediocre restaurant and nice little cafe (Andy's). Our cabin is at the very back of the development with nothing but national forest out the back door. You don't need to drive to experience the Stanislaus National Forest when you stay here. Our neighbors are great and willing to assist in a pinch. Getting AroundYou will want to have 4-wheel-drive and/or chains in the winter if snow or sub-freezing nighttime temps is the case, which it usually is. I will provide more info for winter visitors. The Space(Note: Bedroom 4 has 6 single beds. The listing only allows for 5 beds max in the description) As this rental is a full home, the guest must return a signed rental agreement and application to complete the transaction following payment to Airbnb. It should be noted that linens and towels are not included in the cleaning fee. Guests are encouraged to bring their own sheets/sleeping bags, etc. The cabin does have adequate linens and towels however they must be laundered and put away prior to the guest's departure. The reason laundry is not included is the additional $150 it would add to the cleaning fee and many past guests prefer to keep the price affordable. If you do wish to have laundry handled by the cleaning crew following your stay, please include that information in your booking request. Guest AccessSugar Pine Cabin has a few locked spaces that may not be accessed by the guest. Interaction with GuestsPlease feel free to text me (Eric - ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) if you are in need of any assistance during your stay. The NeighborhoodThe cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood on a cul de sac. The residences here are both seasonal and permanent. Approximately half of the street is full time residents. If you arrive during the summer months, the lake you have access to is located behind the house across the street from Sugar Pine Cabin. Please do not walk through the property across the street to access the lake. You'll find instructions in the cabin for walking and for driving there. Getting AroundThis location is semi-rural and as such, public transportation does not exist nearby. Our driveway has parking for up to four vehicles. The parking capacity of the driveway may be further limited in the winter months due to snow. Other Things to NoteThe TV's have remote inputs for anything you may need. The bottom floor TV has cable only. Please do not attempt to connect any game system or other item to this TV. The main floor TV has 2 HDMI outlets located in plain sight on the wall unit as well as component jacks. Do not attempt to connect directly to the TV. The same applies to the loft TV. Do not attempt to connect directly to the TV. Doing so will frequently disable the use of the TV for subsequent guests and I live three hours away. Garbage day is Monday. Please maximize the amount of trash to put in the cans on Sunday night so that subsequent guests do not arrive to full trash cans.

The SpaceThis 1150 square foot home has two bedrooms and two full baths and is not your typical old rundown cabin. This updated home has tons of mountain charm with knotty cedar ceilings, plank bamboo floors. It has been cosmetically remodeled with fresh paint, new floors and granite counters in the kitchen. The two bedrooms have brand new queen mattresses and very nice/new “lodge” style furnishings. Check out the pine log bed in the upstairs master bedroom! My home is about a 2 minute drive to “downtown” Twain Harte, 15 minute drive to the Black Oak Casino and an easy 30 minute drive to Dodge Ridge Ski area. There are many nearby lakes and streams for fishing or a hike! The home is on a level lot with easy access to Highway 108. We have private lake access in Summer! In the Living room you will find a “lodge” patterned couch and loveseat as well as a brand new full futon which can be used as an additional sleeping area. The wood stove, 40 inch flat screen TV and DVD/Blue ray player makes this room very comfortable to hang out in! I have a small number of Dvd’s that you can feel free to watch or you can certainly bring your own to view. I have basic Comcast cable programming as well as High Speed cable Internet. The large kitchen is fully equipped with brand new appliances and tools for most basic cooking needs. It also contains a brand new kitchen table which can seat six. You will also like the mason jar lighting fixtures with Edison style bulbs! In the Summer months you can enjoy the nice deck out back which includes tall cedars, seating and a BBQ. Also, I have private lake access at Sugar Pine Lake which I can offer to my guests. Note: The two Queen beds have new mattress covers and bedspreads that are frequently laundered. We provide sheets, blankets and pillows and they will be clean and folded on the end of the bed upon arrival. We also provide each guest a bath towel and wash cloth when you arrive. Please bring your own beach towels in summer. If you are using the futon for additional guest sleeping, please bring sleeping bags and pillows or your own sheets as we do not provide them. Please compare apples to apples when booking your twain harte vacation home as most do not provide sheets or towels. If you find anything that is out of order or not up to standard, please let me know. I am generally available by email for non-urgent matters and phone or text for urgent situations. I rely on positive feedback from my guests. After your stay, it would be greatly appreciated that you post positive feedback to VRBO! I ask that you treat my home like it is yours and take care of it. I love it here! You will not be disappointed with your stay at my home. Again, compare Apples to Apples when choosing where to stay in the Twain Harte area. Thank you so much and enjoy your stay in beautiful Twain Harte! Guest AccessThe whole house! The SpaceBlack Bear Cabin is an old structure with previous lives: once a doughnut shop and long ago a logging office. Before our renovation it was the office for the old Sonora Pass Resort, which was a motel and restaurant/bar. Very poorly taken care of for many years, we've started a long renovation to save this lovely place and the cabin was our first remodel. Since then the restaurant has been remodeled into our beautiful home. We plan to begin the next stage soon. The cabin has two sort of small bedrooms; one with a queen bed, table and chair, and the other with two twin beds, a dresser, and a rocking chair. The main room has the kitchen, a dining table that accommodates six, a futon, an upholstered rocking chair and a love seat with a large matching ottoman. Very cozy. The bathroom is accessed through the queen bedroom and has a shower and toilet. The heat is provided by a free standing propane fireplace that is thermostat controlled. We provide a child gate to keep small children safe. The floors are bamboo which is easy to clean and wipe up snow puddles. The covered front porch is a good place to take off boots and towel off a snowy dog. There is a fence around a small front yard that is a safe place for small children and pets. Guest AccessThe parking area is big and we invite guests to park anywhere in that space. For loading and unloading guests may pull up to the several steps that lead to the cabin. We own all the property surrounding the 1 acre pond and guests are welcome to any part of that and the small boat dock. Fishing is allowed catch and release with crimped hooks. You must carry a license. The row boat is also available but we are missing the oars and currently have paddles. (we're looking for oars). The large meadow is also ours and guests are welcome there as well. Our property includes the dirt road behind the cabin. Interaction with GuestsWe prefer a phone call if you need assistance. If you see us around outdoors of course we are available to assist you at any time. Just ask. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is full of older cabins, many of which are second homes. There aren't a lot of people around but you'll see neighbors out walking their dogs on the roads. The roads are dead ends and are safe to walk on or to ride bikes. Neighbors are respectful of both dogs and people and drive slowly. It's easy to find a dirt road to walk on into the forest. We ask that you mark your way so you can return safely. Yes, there are wild animals here at any time of the year including bear and cougar. Take precautions especially at night. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation in the National Forest. You must have a car to get places. During winter you will benefit from an all wheel drive car when storms are expected. Check the weather before you leave home. You can avoid putting snow chains on your car in snow storms if you have all wheel drive with snow tires or all weather tires. Other Things to NoteIf the pond is frozen please don't just go out there to slide around without having us test the depth of the ice. We'll drill a hole in it to make sure it's thick enough to walk on. If you see a large wild animal please retreat to your car or into the cabin. They're not friendly. Saying that, we've been in residence here for 4 years and only seen 1 cougar.
