The SpaceYou will enjoy a queen-size bed and your own 1/2 bath (toilet and sink) in my apartment-home, which is spacious, cheerful, light and airy, and, IMHO, pleasant and homey. Wireless internet is available, as well as a cable-connected HD TV in my living room. My apartment can be warm during our infrequent heat waves and cool in the winter, even with the central heating. A fan and space heater are available when needed. Bedroom quiet-time is between 10:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. as a courtesy to my neighbors. Towels are provided and changed after three or four days stay. Guest AccessYou will receive the front-door key upon check-in. You have access to your room and half-bath (of course), the shower in the full bathroom, living and dining rooms, the deck, and the kitchen for microwave and toaster oven cooking, plus refrigerator space. Using audio is OK in the common areas at almost any time. Many guests have used the dining room table to spread out, plug-in, and enjoy coffee and snacks. Ample closet and drawer space is available in the bedroom. There is a laundry room where washing and drying costs $1.00 each. Visitors are not permitted without prior notice and approval, and are allowed only in the common areas. No land-line is available for guests. Interaction with GuestsIf you have read my reviews, you know that I love talking to my guests and have learned much from them. However, many guests are very busy and highly scheduled, and I'm just fine with minimal communications, such as a "good morning" and "good night. I also expect a reasonable amount of communications about your planned comings and goings. Will you have to leave early? Will you be returning late? I text and hopefully you do too. I provide a comfortable bedroom for sleeping and relaxing; it is not an office nor a suite. If you are someone just looking for a cheap hotel room and are expecting the anonymity and the unfettered access of a hotel, you might be happier staying elsewhere. The NeighborhoodCollege Terrace is a quiet and charming neighborhood, fronting the Southern perimeter of Stanford University. There are many nearby places to walk and run, including the Dish on Stanford property. It's about an eight-minute walk to California Ave, where you'll find many good restaurants; Molly Stone's super-market; Country Sun, my favorite health food store; the chic boutique Leaf and Petal. And, of course, the ubiquitous Kinko's and Starbucks, but Zombie Runner has the best coffee in Palo Alto. On Sundays, there is a marvelous farmer's market on California Ave. which bears witness as to why we foodies love it here. Getting AroundI am three short blocks from the VTA 22 bus, which runs from East San Jose to Palo Alto on the El Camino Corrider (it's a few blocks more to pick up its express counterpart, the 522); .9 mile to CalTrain, which goes to San Fran and to San Jose; a few steps from Line C of the Stanford free shuttle, the Marguerite; walking distance to Cal Ave (see neighborhood); a few blocks to two bike rental shops; walking distance to Stanford's Zip Car locations. Other Things to Note1. Don't book without a profile and photo. 2. Please tell me the reason for your trip to Palo Alto. I want to be prepared to aid you with directions or suggestions, as well as get some idea of your schedule. 3. If you are taking breakfast here, please tell me of any dietary restrictions or dislikes. 4. Will you have a car?

This private Guest Room, has four doors: Front Door, Dining Room Door, Hallway Door to bathroom and kitchen; and a Closet Door. The room is 18' X 16 ' with an additional 3' X 5.3' closet Front Door is the private entrance directly into guest room. It is used only by Guest. Guest parking is on the street right in front of the house and guest room. Parking is always available. Host enters the house only through the back door on other side of the house, which is direct access to the back patio and garage. Host parks in the driveway by the garage which is at the back of the house. Dining room is off guest room. There is a portable 4" thick arched door to Dining Room which is easily opened or closed by guest as desired. Guest Room is fully furnished with a daybed, couch, desk, dresser, assorted lamps, live plants and a low pile cotton rug. The day bed is a firm single mattress daybed, most suited for one person. For two people there is a queen size pullout couch bed – which is best for only temporary short term visits since it fills the room when it is set up as a bed. There are six windows in the room so there is a lot of morning and afternoon sunlight in the room. The historic fireplace is not functional due to degradation of chimney, so a bookshelf is placed in front of the fireplace. WIFI internet is available through out the house. There is only one bathroom; it is shared. It has two sinks, a shower and tub. Kitchen is basic with a small refrigerator, modern gas stove, and no dishwasher or microwave. Guest has full use of kitchen and all dishes and appliances. Guest is expected to wash own dishes using provided gloves, soap and hot water. Shared laundry area includes front loading energy saving washer & dryer that requires particular detergent that is provided. Cute Dining Room has lots of windows, plants and some original artwork. Parking is free, and easy in this quiet residential neighborhood, in front and all around the house. Neighborhood is safe, neighbors are kind and friendly. Lots of people walk or jog here. There is a park and trail by the creek less than ten minute walk away, where you can walk, enjoy nature, or visit two famous donkeys or other assorted farm animals. A few blocks away you will find Driftwood Market, a fantastic deli that is open Mon-Sat; a Mexican restaurant, and other amenities such as a small store / florist, a gas station, an all night doughnut shop, Happy Doughnuts, and a Starbuck's Coffee, as well as gas stations. The main street is where you can catch bus service going north and south. California Avenue Cal Train Station about a mile away, is about a twenty minute walk north east. In ten minutes you can get to Stanford University, "Stanford Dish" hiking trails, or east to The Baylands which are all lovely paths to walk. Prepared food options are plentiful in the local area. Great Restaurants close by, on California Ave: Cafe Brioche, The Counter for great burgers, Joanies, famous for brunch; La Bodeguita Del Medio for Mojitos. As well as a health food store, Country Sun, and a market, Mollie Stone's. California Avenue is where the Farmer's Market happens year round on Sunday mornings from 9 am -1pm. Great place to get fresh produce, flowers, specialty cheeses, fresh meat and fish, rotisserie chickens, fresh baked pastries and breads, and all around fun event with music. Downtown University Avenue and Stanford Shopping Center are about ten minutes away. Both are lit up and bustling day and night with lots of great places to eat or shop. You will find a WholeFoods Market & Trader Joe's Market downtown Palo Alto near University Avenue. Host is an Artist and Certified Massage Therapist, who repairs builds and fixes things around the house and for others off site or in the back patio. Her work schedule varies between long or short hours of work sometimes in home office, or patio, and other times offsite on location at a clients residence or office. This house is very sweet and homey, it is a refurbished storybook-like home the size of a roomy cottage with a long bathroom. The house is generally quiet. Gentle use of doors is greatly appreciated. Host is generally quiet, though, does at times play the radio to listen to NPR or Prairie Home Companion, or books on tape while doing the dishes or cleaning typically when no one is home. There are times when I am up for listening to some enjoyable music, mine or others at an increased volume. However, I would appreciate a mutual agreement about acceptable volumes and want to know any time something is too loud or undesired. Talk to me, make requests; help me meet your comfort needs. A few times a week I see clients in my office and will post on the door that I am in session. Though guest still have full use of the house and I am not opposed to their presence, while I see clients, or need to sleep, is not a good time for "party volume" music or other unnecessary loud noise. There is no TV here. Playing music, or watching movies on a computer at a reasonable medium to low volume level, (or with headsets) is fine. However Xbox use in this house is not acceptable due to the invasively loud violent sounds of video gaming and those playing it. Loud or aggressive noise is not conducive to desired peace and serenity here. There is currently a one speed cruiser bike for guests use around town. I do on occasion cook food to share. If you want prepared meals, that can often be arranged. Let me know. If I offer food to you I have fixed there is no cost. If you request prepared lunches or dinners there is an extra fee. Therapeutic Massage sessions available by appointment. Guest AccessGuest room, via front door. Dinning room, (accessed from arched door). Shared bathroom, (through hallway door). Shared kitchen, (via hallway and dinning room). Shared laundry, (via kitchen). You are welcome to be in the yard or patio or move outside furniture where you want it as long as you return it when done. Interaction with GuestsI am flexible. I love meeting new people and spending time learning about their lives and getting to know them, as well as sharing myself and experiences. I am often available if guest want to interact or share meals or share time together. However, sometimes I work late long hours, so it is good to plan or know desires or expectations so we can plan around busy times. I am willing to go fun places, share the area (when I can). I am also willing to help with transportation to and from local train station or if a special need arises, call or text me. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is a sweet quiet area, mostly families. Easy parking. Flat easy neighborhood walk to the park and creek where there is shade from large oak trees and tall redwoods. There are many stores including Happy Donuts, Starbucks, a small market with in walking distance as well as a fantastic Deli, a Mexican Restaurant, and a gas station block away. Getting AroundThere is easy access to buses one block away, train station is 1.5 miles away. To get to and from the airport, it is easy to book a "Door to door shared ride" via the internet with "SuperShuttle" for about $30. Other Things to NoteThe guest room is a private room for the guest. It is not used by host, nor is it shared by other guests or strangers. There is only one guest room here.

The SpaceThis condo was built in 2011 and has hardwood floors in the shared living spaces, carpeted bedroom and still has a very new feel to it. Sleep peacefully on high thread count cotton sheets and dry off with our fluffy cotton towels. Enjoy a Nespresso coffee in the morning or select from a variety of teas. A private room with a full bed, a hall bathroom right next door to the room, use of the kitchen and street parking. Screaming fast WIFI. I am happy to talk with you about local things to do that you might find interesting or leave you to relax after a long day working in Silicon Valley. Since I have a teen daughter my preference is to rent to women. Midtown Palo Alto is quiet, has tree lined streets and is safe to walk around. Nearby you can find Philz Coffee, Safeway, Piazza's Gourmet Market, dry cleaners, neighborhood restaurants, etc. Winter Lodge, a local treasure, has one of the only outdoor skating rinks on the West Coast and is a mile away. Drive 3 miles to downtown Palo Alto for a selection of 50+ restaurants. Downtown has a Cal Train station for travel to San Francisco. You can rent my bike if you are working at a famous Internet search engine and don't want to drive. It is just over a mile walk (one way) to the Midtown shopping district with shops, places to eat and coffee houses. Taxis are not easy to get in this town, if you are here for meetings you will need to rent a car. (Enterprise Rent a Car will pick you up, ZIP Car, Lyft, etc.) We are 12 miles by car from the San Jose airport and 20 miles from San Francisco airport. I have a dog. She is a rescue and is shy of new people. With time and treats she warms. She will bark at first but is very gentle. I can also arrange a local bike rental (the preferred method for getting around Stanford given the scarcity of parking on campus.) Stanford main gate is about a 20 minute walk away. I have two kids, but they never seem to be around anymore as they are chock full of school, sports, and other activities. Jake, our 20 lb ball of cream fluff pretending to be a dog, keeps me company as I work from home in my artist studio. He is a rescue we have determined to be a "mutta-doodle" (we know he is part poodle and hypo-allergenic with hair vs. fur.) If you are around for a couple of nights, I can arrange laundry access and some kitchen access. I can arrange for guest passes to a local gym and make reservations at the nearby massage spa. Also happy to be hired for airport pick-ups and drop-offs. Hablo castellano (de Argentina). Je parle Francais aussi. I have lived in Palo Alto since 1993, am very familiar with the area attractions, and more than happy to make suggestions for how to spend a free hour or half-day. I hope to make your visit as comfortable and fun as possible. Guest AccessWe have three outdoor seating areas surrounded by a colorful native and drought-tolerant garden for the guests to enjoy. Guests are also welcome to lounge in the living room with couches, piano, and friendly dog companion. The porch rockers and a comfy yard swing are other favorite hang-outs. Very limited kitchen access (guest coffee/tea area with fruits and treats plus a guest fridge and microwave) unless otherwise arranged. Bike rental (with helmet and lock) and laundry services available for an additional charge upon request. Interaction with GuestsI work from home and am very available to help you plan out your adventures, chose the tastiest dining sites, and otherwise enjoy your visit. The NeighborhoodVery quiet residential neighborhood with sidewalks and white picket fences and neighbors who know each other. Safe and peaceful. Parking is free and plentiful on the street right in front of the house. Outside of school hours, there is also a small parking lot across the street. I park my car on the street and neither I nor any guests have ever had issues with security/availability. There is no parking actually on the premises (small lot covered with garden and house). Easy access to everything you could possibly want: Five blocks from the "happening" center of town University Avenue, eight blocks from the Caltrain station, two supermarkets (Whole Foods and Trader Joes) within 5 min. walk, Stanford an easy 15 min. walk, .... REALLY well situated :-) Getting AroundWe are 8 blocks from the Caltrain station in downtown Palo Alto. There is a major North/South bus route a block away and the Stanford Marguerite shuttle stop is about five minute walk away. I can arrange private car transport from/to the airports (SFO, SJC, OAK) and around town for very reasonable fees. Other Things to NoteEach room is for ONE guest only. We do not allow children or other additional guests in the room. We have a 20lb muttadoodle (hypo-allergenic) rescue puppy named Julie who is very affectionate and loves laps. While she may bark at strangers approaching the house, it is usually with her tail wagging up a storm and she is exceedingly friendly to our guests. The SpaceThis apartment is located very close to all the restaurants and shops in downtown Palo Alto and yet it is tucked away in a quite street in front of a park. You really do get the best of both worlds. Within 3 to 5 minutes of walking you can reach several restaurants and shops in downtown. It is also just about a 10-12 minute walk to cal train station and Stanford University. The apartment itself has two bedrooms with a bathroom and a living room. It is also convenient to have the washer and dryer within the apartment. It is fully furnished with a big screen TV (with direct TV) and high speed wireless connection. If you are looking for a room because you are in the area for a couple of days or if you want to spend a few weeks/months at Stanford or if you are looking for a temporary room until you find your own place, this would be a great spot because of the location. If you have a car, you will not have any difficulty finding a parking spot as there is designated parking as well as plenty of street parking available.
