The SpaceIMPORTANT QUICK SYNOPSIS: I have two Airbnb rooms. This room has a private bathroom, high-speed Internet, Queen-size bed, bistro seating, fridge, microwave, Keurig, and toaster, is right across the highway from Redwood Shores where you'll find companies like Oracle,Electronic Arts, Dream Works. San Carlos is 30 minutes from San Francisco and San Jose, next to Redwood City, Belmont, and Redwood Shores, and very near San Mateo, Atherton, Palo Alto, Burlingame, Woodside, and Foster City. San Carlos is 15-20 minutes from Mountain View, Santa Clara, Millbrae, South San Francisco, Hayward, Fremont, Portola Valley, Saratoga, Half Moon Bay, and Daily City.
The Room has hardwood floors, private bath, big white fluffy towels, a "smart TV," two corner windows, heated mattress pad, WiFi, really comfortable bed, pillows of all types including down, ceiling fan, quality clothes hangers, and more.
Here’s what’s unique about my rooms: if you are a bit uncomfortable using your host’s kitchen area, you won’t need to use the kitchen as much with my set up. I have provided bistro seating in the room, along with a large mini fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, flatware, dishware, paper plates, glasses, wine glasses, napkins, and various accouterments. With all that, you should be able to enjoy private breakfasts, and reheated leftovers from all the fascinating places you’ve visited.
Also unique to my place is that I am, when available, willing to pick up my guests from the airport (SFO) and take them to their rental cars or back to my home.
Another unique feature is I speak Italian pretty fluently, having lived in Siena, Italy, and will be glad to translate for any Italian guests.
Sorry, I generally don't host children. Guest AccessWhen I am not away traveling, guests have access to most of the house and backyard. When no one is here that represents me, guests that I have no previous acquaintance with may have less access.
To date, I have had one oven fire, and two burnt pots, all three almost started fires that may have to fire damage. For this reason, I limit use of the stove and oven. Interaction with GuestsI love playing hostess. I am a native to not only California, but also to San Carlos. I can tell you about our area, popular visiting sites, and California, in general. I know a lot of great places to eat, and can direct you to well-known sites, and secret sites. If I don’t know it, I will certainly try to find it. Can even sometimes accompany you to give you the "local" treatment. If I’m going out with friends, I often invite my guests. I want you to feel like you’ve come here to stay with a friend and see our area. The NeighborhoodI bought the home my Mother designed, my Father built in 1948, and that I grew up in. San Carlos is one of the safest cities in the San Francisco Bay Area. I don't know why, but it's just safer and quieter here. I know all my neighbors - all good people. Our downtown still has that quaint small-town feeling. Getting AroundSan Carlos is located almost in the middle of the Peninsula between San Francisco and San Jose along Highway 101 and 280. I can let guests use it for $85 if they have extra people in their party.
Just give me a 30-minute notice before your arrival, and I will meet you at my front door. I have a large circular driveway which you are welcome to use that provides more security.
I have a ramp for one of the entrance doors, so we are wheelchair friendly. Also, I have a shower chair if desired.
I have central heating, and have ceiling fans in all the rooms except the kitchen and living room. I provide throws for the bed, and electric mattress pads to help warm up the bed, if you like.
The house sits on 5/8 acre.
There are two places to eat in the backyard; when the weather is nice you can use them as often as you like.
I clean the bedding between each guest.
