The SpaceGarden studio available for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation. The space is 400 sq.ft. with a full kitchen and a tiled bath with tub and shower. It has a queensize bed with a pillowtop mattress, a new flat screen T.V. and wireless. There are French doors leading to a fenced garden. It also has offstreet parking and laundry facilities. This studio is on a double lot with two houses that we have owned since 1976. I am available to answer questions and help guests get settled in. It is in a neighborhood of single family homes and townhouses and is a mile from downtown. It is also a mile from East Beach. There are many good restaurants within walking distance and public transportation is right around the corner. This studio is unique--it's in a private corner tucked away in it's own garden but it is also close to everything. Guest AccessGuests have their own parking space and fenced yard for privacy. The studio is completely self-contained. The laundry room is available if needed. Trash and recycling is inside the garden gate. There are ripe oranges on the tree in the yard a good part of the year. Interaction with GuestsI greet guests and get them settled in. John and I live in the rest of the house but the studio is well-insulated for sound and very private. We are there to answer questions and solve problems should any arise. Otherwise we leave guests on their own--most people value privacy. Sometimes we cross paths and have extended conversations with the guests. The NeighborhoodThis is an interesting neighborhood. I have lived here for 35 years and seen it change from all single family homes to a mixture of homes and townhouses. Since it is one mile from downtown it is close to restaurants and even some wineries and breweries. Just last year "The Fresh Market"opened two blocks away. It has organic produce, fresh baked goods, and a deli. And of course Trader Joe's is 6 blocks away. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop right around the corner and also a 50 cent shuttle. There is a MTD schedule in the studio. Many people just leave their cars and walk everywhere.

The SpaceYou can't get any closer to all the action in downtown Santa Barbara and the beach without having to pay hundreds of dollars a night. Our home is only minutes walk away from State Street, the iconic Mediterranean open-air walking street with shops, restaurants and all sorts of weekly events such as the Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. As you can tell, this is where most of the action occurs in Santa Barbara. Guest AccessAs a guest, in addition to your own room, you will have your own space in the fridge, pantry, and bathroom. The room has one queen-sized tempur-pedic mattress and can be fixed with an additional queen-sized air mattress to comfortably sleep 4. Fresh towels and sheets are of course provided and you're always welcome to join us for our weekly barbecue on Wednesdays. The kitchen and backyard are fair game so feel free to cook your own meals, party in the backyard and sleep in the incredibly comfortable hammock (it's very popular). We have a GIANT wall map of the World where every guest has pinned their home location. It's always fun to see how far some people have come and don't forget to put one on there yourself! Interaction with GuestsOur home has a very relaxed atmosphere. I have 3 roommates, each with their own room, that work diligently on their own companies throughout the week and sometimes even on the weekend. When we are around, we're usually relaxing. We also love to read books, surf and just hang out. You're always welcome to join us and we're always open to giving suggestions about what to do in Santa Barbara. Other Things to NoteYou may notice that we have another room available listed on airbnb. This is a new posting for a second bedroom that we are now also renting out. If you are traveling in a large group and would like both rooms, please let us know so we can check availability. **To check out the other listing and also our reviews, please visit this page on airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/3569321?checkin=11%2F11%2F2014&checkout=11%2F20%2F2014&s=HYD9

The SpaceThis property is an amazing nature retreat. It is located near the beach, yet is adjacent to 27 acres of wilderness with hawks, amazing birdlife, wildlife, trees of all kinds, and foliage to make you feel like you are away in a private park. You look onto a lawn of about 1 acre with tree swings, hammock, zip line, tether ball, all at your beckoning. You have a private entry, down a stairway for your treehouse stay amongst an oak grove on your left and the expanse of the yard to your right and before your feet. There is a historic rose garden of 33 specimen roses saved from extinction, cut them for your stay. Some, never to be bred again. Oranges, lemons, avocados, apricots, plums, and more are planted around the expansive yard. Hummingbirds and butterflies abound. Beautiful 2 Bedrooms and 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6) The Master bedroom has a king bed, the other bedroom is on the opposite side of the property with a Queen bed. For parties of more than 4, there is a rollaway bed, and a fold open futon in the closet in the master bedroom for 2 more sleeping spaces (or the big couch). Lots of extra linens. The living room is in between both bedrooms. HD TV's in each bedroom and in the living room, Free Internet, DVD players in each bedroom and in the living room. There is a spacious deck with a BBQ and Table for outside dining adjoining the oak grove and over looking the rose garden and magnificent lawn. Nature in all it's glory. The property is the downstairs floor that is completely separate from the upstairs floor. There are two units on the property. This unit is the lower unit by the oak grove. Each are separate units. Each's entry are very apart from each other. The above property is available too, and sometimes the owner occupies the above unit. Each unit has a gated deck for pets to be contained so doggies can go in and out, and have a gate to keep them from wandering into trouble. The yard is mainly fenced, but not 100% for escape artist puppies! The yard is in a bowl which keeps it far away from the street for kids or pups. The kitchen has a full refrigerator, gas range/stove, dishwasher, fully equipped for you to cook, blender, coffee pot, dishes, cooking equipment are all there. Lots of spices and dry goods. Terrific comfort, very clean, in a rural upscale neighborhood, between Hope Ranch and the Mesa, very close to the beach at a great value. The neighborhood is very low density houses. This unit is very children and pet friendly, original impressionist oil painting collection. Toys, games and books are there for kids of all ages. No neighbors can see into unit, quiet, peaceful. Birds and wildlife viewable from every window. Enjoy playing in the expansive yard! Great for croquette, and other sports, equipment provided for you, your children and pets - it feels like a park, yet so private -- the property is unique in it's very large size and setting. It overlooks 27 undeveloped acres of wildlife, trees, and just beyond the beautiful hillside view is the beach. Behind fog line, so SUNNY! If you have ever been to Santa Barbara, you know it can be foggy, but this property is just beyond the fog line, so we get less coastal morning fog! Very quiet area, and very quiet unit. There is another unit above this unit on the property. The property is built in a way that each unit, this one your inquiring about is the lower unit, and the upper unit, are completely private with separate entry ways, and built into a hill, so they are quite well insulated for sound. A caretaker is available to help if needed. It is a 2 minute drive, 10-15 minute walk, to a scenic surfing beach that has on one end a dog beach, and one of California's most scenic oceanfront restaurants 'The Boathouse'. It is 5 minutes to downtown by car, the harbor, pier, etc., and 5 minutes by car to Montecito, 10 minutes to the Santa Barbara Airport. King & Queen beds, with 2 futons with bedding for 6 sleeping total. The bedrooms are on opposite ends, with the living room in between the bedrooms. The bath has a shower/tub combination. Relaxing is easy with all the serenity around you and in the unit itself. For stays of one week or more, there is a cleaning helper that will come one day to clean your unit and do wash and fold laundry for free. It really makes your stay a vacation...! DOG RUN: Newly installed chain link secured dog run so you can let your doggie (s) rest comfortably while you sight see. Shaded area, big enough for multiple dogs. This is a very special unique property which makes your vacation stay here special - very very few properties in Santa Barbara have this type of amazing yard, (URL HIDDEN) really like a private park, it's a wow. Deposits are promptly refunded upon departure through AIRBNB with no damage to unit. This is a non-smoking unit, feel free to smoke on the outside deck. This is not a party house, and not available for weddings or events. No wild student parties. This is for the enjoyment of those staying at the property. Keywords: Close to beach, secluded, large yard, children & pet friendly, private unit, country living, oak trees, wildlife, views of nature, close to downtown, close to tourist attractions. Guest AccessGuests have access to the huge yard from your private, gated balcony deck. The yard is shared with the upper unit, which also has a gated private balcony deck. There are dog parks nearby, at Hendry's Beach, and The Douglas Preserve, maps in the property. Parking for 1 car in driveway, and lots of free street parking. Interaction with GuestsGuests enter property with a lockbox, so check in at any time is fine. Owner is available by text, email and phone all the time. Attractions and area info is in welcoming book. Upon booking, please send your direct email so owner can send you specific check in directions and a nifty handbook about the property and area. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a very low density rural feel, but just 1/2 a mile from the beach. Downtown, State Street, the Pier and Harbor, the Mission, Courthouse are only a 5 min drive away. It's an amazing anomaly in Santa Barbara to be in such a ranch like area with huge lots close to the beach and town.. Getting AroundThere is a public bus stop down the street, Route 5. Uber to downtown is about $10, and 5 minutes. From the Santa Barbara airport, take a taxi for about $20, or rent a car (cars are used in SB). The SpaceCozy, private bedroom located at the back of our vintage 1930s cottage. Twin bed outfitted with all-cotton bedding and hypoallergenic down comforter. There is a desk, closet, full length mirror, and additional storage space under the bed. This a small room--8.5'X6.5'--but it is quite inviting, like a being in a little seashell. Small, private bathroom with white cotton linens, hair dryer, sink, toilet, and a stall shower. Shower is smaller than standard and, we believe, was crafted by a handy homeowner in the 50s. It is somewhat funky, but clean, and you will get clean! Flooring is vinyl with clean area rugs. The room is accessed from the outside through a separate, rear entrance. Guests walk through an office/laundry area to get to the room. This entire area is separated from the rest of the house by a door. Guests will have access through the back door of the cottage, through an office/laundry room. This area is common to the guest and host family, but you won't see much of us except around mealtimes, when we will be getting into the fridge located in this room. This area has a snack/drink table for use of the guest, with an electric kettle, and basic utensils, and serving ware. We will put out a tray of coffee for you in the morning. We leave a shelf in the refrigerator for our guests to use for leftovers or whatever. Kitchen use can be arranged for stays of four or more days; please contact me to discuss. You are welcome to enjoy the front porch, with wicker chairs; the front yard, and umbrella-covered picnic table. There is a Flying Pigeon Chinese commuter bike available for your use. This is a single speed cruiser with a hand brake and a basket. Fits those 5'6" and taller! On the day of their arrival, I greet guests, give them keys and help them settle in. As the guest area is separate from the rest of the house and accessed through a separate door, you can choose when and how much interaction to have with us. We love chatting with our guests and learning about other places and sharing insider info about our hometown. . Our cottage is located on a tree-lined street amid a charming mix of older cottages and small apartment buildings in the friendly, bustling, diverse Oak Park neighborhood, just two blocks from the oak-studded, grassy park itself. This is not a silent suburb, and there is a lot within walking distance: One of the best bakery-cafes in town is two blocks away, along with great Mexican, Italian, and Japanese food. Cottage Hospital is 3 blocks away. Downtown is 1.5 miles from here, an easy walk or bike ride through the posh, historic Upper East. The Old Mission is 1 mile away. The SpaceIt's in a beautiful, peaceful setting. The studio itself is quite small but has a large window looking out onto a charming, private, covered patio. The usual necessities; bathroom, shower, comfy bed, clean linens, place to unwind. All at a great price! I work a lot as a chef and my hours vary but I'm always glad to be of service when I can. And love meeting new people. It's so peaceful above the hustle and bustle of the city with nice views to boot. But still very close to all the fun of downtown and beach The city has a bus stop at the natural history museum, about 3/4 mile down the hill. Taxi service is quick and reliable. The studio is adjacent to the main house on the property. We share the large driveway. I have a Labrador retriever in my house who is very friendly. The drive way is a bit hidden from the main road but has large address sign and lights at night. The usual necessities; bathroom, shower, comfy bed, clean linens, place to unwind. The SpaceSanta Barbara Beach Chic is for rental of a private room in a house (not the entire house). About the Home: This Santa Barbara Beach Chic (called this because of the beachy decor) 1920's home sits on a park and has amazing views. The house is close to dining, shopping and public transportation- downtown is a quick drive or Uber away. Can you walk downtown? Technically yes it is 2 miles from the house- it isn't up any hills, but most guests perfer to drive. It is about a 5-6 minute drive and there is loads of parking downtown. The house is very clean and well designed, hardwood floors throughout, loved and cared for. About Your Room: The bed is newly purchased and the sheets and towels are all of very high thread count and quality. No detail is left unturned and if you should have any suggestions to make a guests stay even better, please let us know. About the Location of the House: There is easy and abundant street parking available- sometimes on the weekend there can be more visitors to the park, but in general you will never park further than a block away. There is a closet for hanging clothes and luggage storage, luggage racks. The bathroom is located right next to the room and is shared. Cotton towels, shampoo, conditioner and blowdryer are all available for guest use. We think 2 guests is the best number for the room and house, however if you have a question regarding a 3rd guest or don't want to share a bed please contact us in advance. An additional guest is $25 per night and we have a twin size tall air mattress with bedding available for an additional one time fee of $20 (for the entire stay), should you need more than one bed in the room. Please let us know in your initial comment if this is needed and we can let you know if we can accommodate your request. Guest AccessGuests will enter through the front door. Their private room is immediately on the right and can be locked with a key when they are out exploring, should they desire. If host can not meet and greet guests then key will be placed in lock box and code will be messaged to guests on day of arrival, before check in time (3pm)- we have found this easiest for our guests to be independent and able to arrive without having to coordinate a specific time with the host to meet them. Guests will share the bathroom with host, housemate and the house with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who are very well behaved. We travel often, so it is possible that you could be in the home alone, but the rental is still only for the room, not the entire house. Occasionally my long distance boyfriend is in town. We all work together to make your stay pleasant and try to accommodate bathroom and shower needs- hasn't been an issue thus far. No kitchen privileges come with the room, aside from making coffee and tea. You are booking a room in a house not the entire house ;) If you feel like we are repeating this, we are, but we have been told many times that guests didn't understand what they were booking, so we were advised to state it many times. We promise, we aren't that repetitive, normally. Coffee machine and hot water available. Interaction with GuestsOn the day of arrival we will do our best to greet guests, if possible. If host can not meet and greet then keys will be placed in lock box and code will be messaged to guests before check in time- we have found this easiest for our guests to be independent and able to arrive without having to coordinate a specific time with the host. After that they can decide how much interaction they desire. We are available throughout the day to answer any questions you might have about Santa Barbara (I am a Santa Barbara native) and where to go and what to do. Airbnb allows us to travel often too, so there may be times that we aren't home during your stay. We make sure we are still available via text, cell, email, airbnb should you need anything. We will let you know our plans as your trip approaches. The NeighborhoodOur home is located on a tree lined street amid a mix of older craftsman homes, condos and apartments in a very friendly and bustling neighborhood. We are located right across from a park which has picnic tables, bbq's and a kids playground. This is not a silent neighborhood during the weekend days there are often birthdays in the park, occasional French, Greek and other festivals, it is much calmer than the hustle and bustle of downtown, but again it isn't the mountains, so if peace and tranquility is what you are after I would seek a bit more north. Bakeries and cafes located two blocks away, Thai, Mexican, Italian and Japanese food all within walking distance. Cottage Hospital is a couple blocks away. Downtown is an easy 1.5-2 mile walk from the house (30-45 min), the beach is a short drive or bike ride less than 1.5 miles away and the historic Santa Barbara Mission is a gorgeous walk to take at only 1 mile away from the house. UCSB is apprx 7-8 min by car. We suggest having a car or being prepared to Uber or Lift around town. Getting AroundFree street parking directly in front of the house. The surrounding blocks all are open for street parking as well. The only time there may be an issue is Thursday if you arrive at 3pm, because street sweeping is posted until 4pm (they usually finish earlier) and sometimes on summer weekends between 12-5pm if there is a party or larger festival (there are only three festivals a year). There is street sweeping Thursday between 1-4pm. Please check street signs and park on the opposite side of the street during that time. ***Please make sure that you only park on the park side and facing the direction that traffic flows. We have had a few guests park the wrong direction.*** Most of the bus lines stop within one to two blocks from the house with easy transportation to all parts of town, including the downtown area and the waterfront. Biking and walking are easy to do from the house as it is mostly flat terrain. Here in Santa Barbara we love to use UBER (code: ubermagnoliaed ) which is an on demand taxi service. If you don't have the app we suggest you download it and enter our promo code: ubermagnoliaed and they will give you $20-30 credit for your first ride! We also have LYFT- use this code- LINDSEY350217 and get $20 free Other Things to NoteThis is a charming 1928 home with new heat and water pipes, but we do not have air conditioning. Each room has it's own ceiling fan and windows that open for ventilation in the warmer months. The house swells when it is hot out and shrinks when it is cold- we call it charm and character. If a sticky door might bother you, then this may not be the best house for you in the summer time. We do have a dogs on premisses, but they aren't in the airbnb bed/linens or room, so pet hair shouldn't be an issue. The house is professionally cleaned and we have a Roomba- Best invention ever, that being said, the guests often ask them to say "hi" and they will go in the room then. If you don't want them to visit that is totally okay, but if you are allergic to dogs, I would probably not chance my trip to SB. They have hair, technically, but I would hate for you to be all sneezy. Parking is on street only. There is street sweeping Thursday from 1-4pm. Please always park only in the direction that traffic flows and remember do not park in RED as that is for emergency vehicles only. We often wake up to find rental cars parked in red and hate having to knock on your door early in the morning to tell you to move before you get a ticket. We have had to do this far too many times, so please use caution when parking.
