The NeighborhoodSanta Paula, California is a small town of 30,000 residents that's in a very unique location. It's an easy 15 mile (24 km) drive to the Ventura coastline, yet far enough away to escape the marine layer, which lends to more sunny days in the year here. Our neighborhood is close to modern conveniences such as Vons (grocery store), Kmart (department store), Big 5 (sporting goods), a small movie theater, and CVS or Rite Aid (drugstores); yet removed enough to experience occasional wildlife. Over the years we've experienced deer, hawks, skunks, raccoons, opossums, doves, fox, hummingbirds, squirrels, rabbits, a weasel, yellow orioles, snakes, gophers, woodpeckers, owls and many other species of birds we haven't identified yet. We're always happy to share a memorable story or two with the encounters we've had! Stroll around the property in the morning to the sounds of welcoming birds singing, with a hot cup of coffee or tea in hand. Seasonally, enjoy a unique variety of avocados or delicious apples from our own trees during your stay with us. In the afternoon hawks gently glide above with the wind beneath their wings while making a majestic screech or two. At dusk, we have the privilege of watching a family of deer graze on the neighbor’s property across the street. Then, on an occasional special evening we'll catch a pair of owls perching on the peak of our roof hooting at the night under the starry sky. We love it here and hope you will too! Getting Around~Complimentary transportation will be provided to guests arriving/departing the Santa Paula Airport upon request. The airport is located 1.5 miles from our home.
