The SpaceOur one bedroom cottage located in the Santa Cruz Mountains on a gated property, is a beautiful and comfortable place to relax and unwind. It sleeps 2 - 4 people, with 2 in the queen bed in the bedroom and 1 or 2 in the (full size) fold-out hide-a-bed in the living room There is also a single pad with bedding available for inside or outside deck sleeping. Inside the cottage there is a large flat screen TV with cable, a DVD player, and a selection of movies and DSL Internet. There is also a stereo system and a collection of CD's. We have a full kitchen with an antique gas stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, an assortment of tea's, coffee, basic condiments, and the tap water from our well is safe and excellent to drink. There is a wood burning stove in the living room with plenty of wood and the walls are adorned with vintage rock & roll posters. On the deck we have a jacuzzi hot tub, a gas barbecue, and patio furniture. There are large, clear skylights that afford a view of the redwoods while offering beautiful lighting. All linens and towels are provided. Adjacent to the cottage are two hammocks and a Chartres labyrinth in the middle of a redwood circle. For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A cozy cottage nestled in the redwood forest, 10 minutes off of HWY 1 (Pacific Coast Highway), the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz, and 6 minutes from HWY 17. People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world-class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day, you can return home to your private cottage nestled in the quiet redwoods. The weather here is excellent. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off at the ocean early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day. The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. It is truly amazing to stand on the labyrinth in the middle of 200 foot redwoods. There are 4 or 5 excellent restaurants within 15 minutes of our home. The caretaker/owner Jay and Linda live on the property, along with 2 young cats. We are excited about sharing this slice of heaven nestled in the redwoods. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy meeting our guests when they arrive, showing them the cottage and answering any questions they may have. We then give our guests their privacy however remain available should they have additional questions.

Six minutes to Capitola Village's restaurants, shopping, dancing, bars, BEACH and events. Twelve minutes to Downtown Santa Cruz, the Beach Boardwalk and all they offer in that wild west college town! Quieter towns and beaches one half hour to the south like Moss Landing, Carmel and Monterey. Travel North one hour to Half Moon Bay, Atascadero, and Ano Nuevo State park to see the elephant seals or whale watching! Guests love to stay at the Villa Soquel because it is private, peaceful, naturally beautiful but NOT located in the middle of nowhere. Guest AccessGuests who rent the Villa Soquel will have the entire 4 bedroom single story ranch style home for their exclusive use. Includes mountain side: outdoor swimming pool (NOT heated), patio, fire pit, barbecue, jetted spa, south facing deck with expansive valley views and use of the maintained walking trails through old redwoods, oak, pine and bay trees. Plenty of parking for 10 - 12 cars. Note: for stays exceeding three nights, there will be an outdoor maintenance visit by a staff member every third day. Interaction with GuestsWhen the Villa Soquel is rented in it's entirety, I welcome and orient our guests and will only interact when invited. The Villa is theirs to enjoy as they please in private. The NeighborhoodOurs is a beautiful, lush, green and serene valley located between Capitola Beach and the Los Gatos Mountain communities. We have wineries, horse boarding ranches, a quaint general store, attractions near by like The Mystery Spot! Gotta see that one if you haven't already. Only a short, easy drive to the beaches, and the many antique stores in lovely Soquel Village. Convenient food shopping (Nob Hill, Safeway, New Leaf, Whole Foods etc.) So many restaurants within 20 minutes! Pretty much everything but Korean. Getting AroundNo public transit to the Villa Soquel at this time. Parking for 10 vehicles easy off street at the house. Other Things to NoteThe kitchen is ready for you. Have had dozens of guests prepare their meals here and there have been no requests for any kitchen ware in addition to what is provided! This house is lived in when not rented. It feels like a home, not like a rental!

The SpaceCute cottage in the country--detached 1 bedroom cottage behind owner's home. Large, private deck under oak trees and overlooking Carbonero Creek. Full kitchen and bath.. Bedroom has queen bed with a beautiful brass bedframe. Living room has couch and kitchen farm table & chairs. We'll provide an assortment of teas and coffee and a bowl of breakfast items upon your arrival. Please let us know if there is any way we can make your stay comfortable. The cottage is perfect for 2 as a private getaway. We are located just outside Scotts Valley. One minute from the highway 17 corridor. Ten minutes to Santa Cruz beaches, boardwalk and other entertainment. Just over the hill from Silicon Valley. Plenty of parking on site. Quiet country neighborhood within 5 minutes of shopping, movie theaters, restaurants, and parks. We can offer you tips on hiking, cycling, and restaurants in the area. We intentionally have no TV in order for guests to rest, relax and rejuvenate. Please no smoking on the property. Although they are in place for the 1% of renters who need them for guidance. If you have a problem with any of them, please let me know right away so corrective action can be taken. 1. Villa Soquel is available to rent for residential purposes only. The Villa is NOT a party venue. Daytime events are allowed with specific prior written approval of the owners. 2. All  renters must provide a photo of their ID prior to their arrival. Email a photo of your state ID to (email: hidden) at least three days prior to your arrival. You will be asked to show your state ID upon arrival at check in. Renter must be at least 25 years of age. 3. Villa Soquel may be occupied overnight by the number of registered guests only. Non registered guests and visitors up to 8 in number may be on the property until 10 pm. Non-registered guests are trespassers after 10 pm and are subject to eviction. 4. Parking is available for up to 8 vehicles. No more than 8 vehicles may be on the property at any time. Excess vehicles will be removed at vehicle owner's expense. 5. Outside quiet time is 10 pm every night. Noise complaints from neighbors or from my on site caretaker will result in immediate eviction. There are no refunds of rents paid in the case of an eviction. 6. Driving speed on the driveway from Soquel San Jose Rd up to the Villa is 8 MPH. If a neighbor reports vehicles traveling at a speed above 10 mph, $100.00 will be kept from the rental security deposit for each report. 7. Renter is responsible for the actions of all guests, whether said guests are registered or not.  This includes damage and losses to persons, property and vehicles brought on to the Villa Soquel property or allowed on the property by the renter. 8. The security deposit is exactly that, a deposit. Damages in the amount of or in excess of the security deposit are the responsibility of the renter no matter the cause of the damages. The Villa owners only have to provide evidence of damages in order to recover the replacement or repair costs. 9. Renter accepts the property in good condition, and is responsible to notify the owners of any deficiencies, or damages within two hours of arrival. Call or text Daniel at (phone: hidden) to report deficiencies. 10. Children under the age of 16 are to be supervised by an adult at all times, especially when in the pool / spa area. The is no lifeguard on duty. There is no diving into the pool. It is not deep enough to safely act as a diving pool. 11. Tenant is responsible to maintain the cleanliness of the pool and spa while staying at the Villa. A brush and net are provided for tenant's use. 12. No one in diapers may use the swimming pool or the heated spa. 13. No eating or smoking allowed in the spa or the swimming pool. 14. Tenants use the swimming pool and heated spa at their own risk. 15. The outside pool deck area is officially closed to use at 11 pm everyday. 16. Parents are solely responsible for the safety and welfare of their children while staying at the Villa. The Villa is NOT childproof. Parents are responsible to monitor and control their children regarding all hazards which may be present at the Villa including sharp objects, poisons, hot water, falls, water hazards, etc. and agree to indemnify the Villa owners against any liability arising from such hazards. 17.  In the event of loss of electrical power, heating or water service, the tenant will have the option of early check-out. Un-used nights will be refunded in the amount of rent and tax paid by renter for unused nights if the renter checks out of the property prior to the final night of paid rental. 18. If for any reason the Villa is not habitable upon arrival due to unsuitability for occupancy, the Villa owner's liability will be limited to a refund of the rental fees and taxes paid by the renter. No additional expenses or losses to renter are the responsibility of the Villa owners. 19. No animals are allowed in the Villa house at any time. 20. Smoking, candle burning or incense in the Villa is not allowed and if detected will result in $200 kept from the renter's security deposit. 21. Tenants must not disable any smoke, CO2, fire, or flammable gas detector for any reason. 22. Tenants please follow the checkout instructions outlined in the house manual. 23. If your stay exceeds two days, be advised that there will be a maintenance visit made to the villa property by villa personnel every third day. The visit will be made between noon and four pm. Items to be attended to include the pools, hot tub and landscape features. Entry to the house is not required. 24. Please take all of your belongings with you when you leave. Check each bedroom and all bathrooms twice before leaving. If you leave personal items behind, they will be held for 7 days for tenant to retrieve said items. After which time said items will be donated to the Goodwill Industries. The Villa management will not mail or ship items left behind.

    The SpaceThis listing has been recently been updated to be the entire house while we are out of town. In our guest room you will enjoy a very comfortable queen size bed with a comfy down comforter and plenty of pillows to suit your needs. The view from your room and the living room both face the back yard where you can see high into the trees and beyond - it's quite serene and relaxing. There is HDTV in both the living room and your room with plenty of cable channels to choose from. Our home is filled with our favorite local artist work, paintings, pottery, and photography. We have also put together complimentary package of wine tastings for our guests to enjoy at some of our favorite local wineries, all of which are located within just a 10-12 minutes drive from the house. Wines coming out of the Santa Cruz mountains offer comparable quality to Napa Valley (some say better), just without all the tourist traffic :-). We recommend setting aside half of a day to enjoy the tastings and the wineries...you can even bring a picnic lunch to eat and take in the scenery at the vineyards. Just let us know in advance if you would like to take advantage of the wine tastings so that we set aside the passes for you. If you prefer not to drive, there is also a local wine touring company that can pick you up at the house and give a guided tour of our wineries. Ask us for more details so you can book in advance. Want to see the local redwood forests and other nature trails? We can recommend some amazing local hiking spots or you can also book a local hiking guide with packages ranging from 2-6 hours. Or you may want to ride steam engine through the redwoods, sail on the bay, go whale watching, all of these are right here in our back yard!       The Space2 private rooms and a spa bathroom with private deck and entrance occupying the lower level of our home. A ridgetop retreat, peaceful, private, home in the Loma Prieta area of the Santa Cruz Mts. An ideal location for business and pleasure. You can have your toes in the sand on the Monterey Bay or be in Silicon Valley in 20 minutes. We offer a Guest Suite that is the entire downstairs area of the house, 2 private bedrooms and a big spa-like bathroom. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed, sitting area, private porch, and a TV. The smaller bedroom has a set of bunk beds, a desk and a big deck off of it. For your comfort and convenience there's a small microwave oven, coffee maker, utensils, plates, glasses, cups, and a filtered water pitcher, everything you need to prepare a quick breakfast or snack. Satelite TV and WiFi connectivity are also available. Cell phone reception here is good also (AT&T & Verizon). Our home is situated on a sunny ridge top with views of the surrounding hills, Redwood forests with incredible sunsets and a huge deck to take it all in. Plus lots of outdoor living space including a spectacular bar area and outdoor living room, or sit out by the Koi pond and be lulled by the sound of falling water. The beautiful garden is featured in the community's annual spring garden tour. Check out some of my works on "Ridgetop Studio" on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). Your room has a comfy queen bed, sitting area, and small private deck with forest views. The second room, separated by a hallway and bathroom, has a set of bunk beds and a desk. Your private deck is off this smaller bedroom. The large bathroom has double sinks, water closet and shower. Off the hallway there's an alcove with a small "kitchenette". the kitchenette has a coffee maker, small microwave, and all the things you need to have a snack in the room. There's a separate entrance from outside through the second bedroom so you can come and go as you please without worrying about disturbing us. The rooms are located downstairs from the main house, you'll have a quiet and private area all to yourselves, or come on up to join us and share our hospitality. Weather permitting, there's plenty of outdoor living space if you are so inclined and want to accommodate more people outdoor sleeping arrangements can be made. There's a queen sized bed on the outdoor deck if you'd like to sleep under the stars, the night sky is quite spectacular up here. We want you to feel welcome, this isn't a chain hotel after all. Part of the fun of airbnb'g is meeting new friends! Bring your favorite beverage(s), the outdoor bar area is a great place to spend summer evenings, getting to know new friends and sharing ideas about what to do next. We're natives here and happy to share our insights based on your desires. For convenience there's a great market with a wonderful selection of prepared gourmet foods to go, a great butcher counter, and local wines only 2 miles away. Speaking of wines there are several great boutique wineries located within just a few miles including Burrell School, Loma Prieta, Silver Mountain, David Bruce, MJA and several more. While only 20 minutes to downtown Los Gatos at the Southwestern end of the Santa Clara (aka: Silicon) Valley the Loma Prieta area is rural with towering Redwoods and open spaces. To get to the beaches in the Santa Cruz area; simply release your parking brake and you are on the way, its all downhill from here. We are approximately 13 miles from Capitola Beach and you only need to turn left out of our driveway to get there as the road we live off of goes directly to Capitola. Capitola is a funky little beach town that borders Santa Cruz to the south with excellent dinning, shopping, nightlife and surfing. Capitola Beach itself is an excellent place to take the family for a day of fun in the sun as it is well protected and Capitola Village is steps away. Turning right out of our driveway takes you towards the Silicon Valley and all it has to offer. 12 miles from our home and you are in Downtown Los Gatos, the best little town in Silicon valley with great dinning, shopping and nightlife. If you have business to attend to during your stay, the heart of Silicon Valley's technology industry is approx. 30 minutes away but of course you can be fully "connected" or disconnected here if you like Both San Francisco and Big Sur are easy day trips. San Francisco is 70 miles to the north, Big Sur 90 miles south. Monterey and all it has to offer is about an hour's drive south on California's Hwy 1 with Big Sur another 45 minutes drive south of Monterey. Don't miss the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium. Hwy 1 south of Monterey is one of the most scenic drives in the world and the Big Sur area is magical. Nature lovers will appreciate Big Basin and Henry Cowell State Parks as well, both renowned for their old growth Redwood groves. If you have never been in an old growth Redwood grove, it’s a truly spiritual experience. While we have lots of beautiful Redwoods on the property they are mere pups in comparison even at over 100 ft. tall. If you're a golfer, besides Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach, and Spyglass in the Monterey area, close by is one of the best courses anywhere; Pasatiempo Golf Club and the DeLaVeaga Golf course is just down the road, which incidentally also boasts one of the best Frisbee golf courses to be found. For family fun there's The Santa Cruz Boardwalk with a great wooden roller coaster plus many other rides and attractions. Roaring Camp Railroad with trains and a zip line tour of the Redwood forest's canopy. "The Mystery Spot" is always a hit with the kids. World-class surfing, sailing, fishing and whale watching are all within a half-hour's drive. If you’re a Mountain Biker, there’s world-class single tracks in near-by Soquel Demonstration forest. Of course if all you want to do is relax and decompress just hang out here by the pond and let the sounds of flowing water wash your stress away. Surfers, great breaks like Pleasure Point, The Hook, and Steamer's Lane are all close by. Car lovers and gear heads this is heaven! Laguna Seca Race Track is less than an hour away. This is a perfect base to take in the Monterey Historics, Concours Italiano and the Pebble Beach Concours D'élégance. The way down to the Monterey Bay from our house is Soquel/San Jose Rd. S/SJ Rd. is great drive/ride, with beautiful scenery and wonderful twisties for those of us who enjoy a well executed apex. Motorcyclists will love the ride on Soquel/San Jose Rd. and many others we can suggest. The weather in the Santa Cruz Mountains is about as perfect as you can find. Summer brings cool foggy early mornings followed by warm sunny days and cool evenings. It almost never rains in the summer here so no worries there, make your plans. Winter, the temps are moderate, with frost only occasionally, but it can rain very hard at times. Spring and Fall are glorious, our favorite times of the year. Lots of fall color in the yard and surrounding area. Spring brings a profusion of green and blossoms. No matter what time of year, it’s always a good idea to have a sweater or light jacket handy as the evenings can cool off quickly because of the costal influence (or as I like to say "our life giving fog"). Redwoods only thrive where there's regular fog. It is not unusual to see temps in the 80 - 90 range during the day and 60's in the evenings. We can also arrange for a couples massage on the deck if you're so inclined. My wife and I can whip up a family style dinner, an evening BBQ or we can have a guest chef prepare a wonderful candlelight dinner served under the stars. I'll bar tend, fixing up tasty cocktails to enjoy the sunset with. Want Breakfast? A lunch packed to go? Dinner? The NeighborhoodWhat we love about our neighborhood is that we don't live in a neighborhood. Our house sits on a sunny hill top surrounded by the Redwood forest with the closest neighbor's house a couple hundred yards away. While we live in a rural area, Silicon Valley is 15-20 minutes to the north and the Monterey Bay is 15 minutes to the south, great for business and pleasure. Levi Stadium is 40 minutes away. Getting AroundThere is no public transit available in the area, so if you are coming from afar, plan on renting a car. San Jose Airport - 40 minutes, SFO and Oakland airports - about an hour away (all times dependent on traffic conditions in Silicon Valley). Other Things to NoteOur little road (a meandoring 1/4 mile) is one-lane but has very little traffic so we toot our horn to warn others as we go up the road. If you do encounter another car there are places to pull off to pass. Usually the car going downhill must back-up to yield right-of-way but sometimes that's not practical so be courteous. We've lived here 19 years and I've encountered another car going to other way maybe a dozen times so no worries, just be aware and drive slowly and be courteous to our neighbors. There are no restaurants in the immediate area but Summit Center Store is near by and they have everything you may need from prepared meals, great deli sandwiches, an excellent butcher counter and a wonderful selection of our local wines.

      The SpaceOn a ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, private bedroom with a queen bed, cotton sheets, and comfortable furnishings, that looks out on a spectacular coastal view of Monterey Bay. The four-acre property is close to walking trails that take you deep into a redwood forest, bike trails in the Soquel Demonstration Forest, or a 20-minute drive to the Santa Cruz coast. Wineries within a few miles in any direction. Amazing view that changes with the light and the weather. Bathroom with shower / tub next to bedroom. Must be able to navigate a few stairs (entryway and 3 steps down to the bedroom) and be OK with our cat Charcoal. Wireless internet. Satellite tv with basic cable. You won't hear traffic, instead you will hear the chickens next door. Private and quiet. Homey, casual living. You need a car to get here, no nearby public transportation. There's a store about 3 miles away that is open until 8 PM. A few restaurants are in the mountains. Most are either near the coast (Soquel, Capitola), south on Highway 17 to Scotts Valley, or north on 17 to Los Gatos (13 miles). The room is good for one or two people. If there is a third, there's an extra fee and they can sleep on the comfortable living room sofa, for short visits. Other notes: You can take route 17 from San Jose or Santa Cruz to the Summit exit to get here, or to/from Santa Cruz area, you can take an easy and pleasant back road and avoid the "fishhook" and 17 altogether. It's 45 min - 1 hour from here to the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel, and Pacific Grove. Guest AccessKitchen, living room, and deck access. The NeighborhoodWant to get away from traffic, urban noise, pollution? You'd never know you are within reach of the SF Bay Area and Silicon Valley, even though you can get here easily. This is a quiet, natural setting with spectacular views, peaceful neighbors, and entertaining wildlife - birds, including wild turkeys sometimes, deer, next door chickens, owls hooting at night. Nice place to hang out or as a base for attending weddings or other events in the mountains or at the coast. You will not be hearing traffic, city noises, loud neighbors. Space to breathe. Easy 40 minute hike among redwoods within walking distance. Cyclists and hikers also enjoy the Soquel Demonstration Forest, nearby. Wineries are open on weekends, some of them during the week as well. Good to call ahead for specific wineries as some of them have limited tasting room hours. You'll find a restaurant list for the area in the guest room, along with brochures and maps about local towns. Everything from casual to world-class cuisine options are available for dining in Los Gatos or at the coast in Capitola or Aptos. Getting AroundNo public transportation - you must have a car or other independent vehicle. There is plenty of room to park (outdoors). Airport shuttles come up here, for a substantial fee. Rental car usually a better choice. There's some uber service, though I haven't tried it. Other Things to NoteYou might want to plan your food and bring it with you, or you can drive down to the local store before 8 PM. Also there are great restaurants within 20-30 minutes.       The SpaceUnlike most homes in the Santa Cruz mountains, our little cottage is flooded with sunshine all day long. Every single window looks out onto the stunning landscape. We outfitted the home with brand new furniture in October 2013, and often wish we could stay there ourselves. The clawfoot bathtub is my favorite part of the house. The cottage shares the 90 acre property with 2 other houses, so even though you'll feel a million miles away from city life, you can still ask your neighbor for a cup of sugar. Guest Access90 acres of meadows and forest Telephone Full Kitchen Full Bathroom Private Bedroom There are 2 other homes on the property, so pretty please don't sit on their front porches *laugh*. You are welcome to walk all around the property and explore the hiking trails, but please keep out of the barns (there are 2). They aren't that interesting anyway (currently just used for storage). *Important note for Guests with dogs* One of the other houses on our property has a dog. Her name is Gretel and she is the sweetest, most excited to see you dog in the world. The only catch is, if you have a dog with you and go near her house...she feels a bit uncozy about that. Please take care when walking your dog by Gretel's house (the house at the end of the road) by not lingering by her fence too long. If Gretel comes to visit you at the Fairy Tale Cottage, she is totally fine there because she doesn't have a need to 'protect' it. We have had many guests come with dogs and never have a problem at the cottage. We have had an issue in the past, however, if the guest's dog comes into Gretel's space at her own house. Interaction with GuestsWe will leave you alone! In fact, you can't even see our house when you're inside the cottage. If you do want to pop over and say hello, that is absolutely fine. We have 2 young children (under age 3), so we will most likely be playing with bubbles or cleaning up toy trains. Most of the time we are home in the evenings, and enjoy having campfires after the kids go to bed. Feel free to join us if you see us outside! The NeighborhoodEvery time I get out of the car and take a deep breath, it smells like heaven and my shoulders relax. Country living at it's best. If you wan to go for a walk, roam around the Great Meadow ( you can see it from the cottage), or walk down past the barn and turn left to take a little stroll through some very old redwoods! Getting AroundYay for cars! You can technically ride your bike here (all flat roads from town), but, it is a bit scary because the cars aren't very good at sharing the road. Other Things to NoteWe do have the internet, but because of our mountain location, it isn't the best for streaming movies and such. It works for basic email, and is a bit spotty at times. This is usually a good thing when you're trying to be on vacation! *laugh* CHECK OUT: Pretty please turn off all the heaters when you go, and don't worry about locking the door. Just leave the keys on the kitchen table. We want your vacation to be lovely, so we will take care of cleaning as long as you promise do to your dishes and take any food that you purchased along with you before you leave *wink* (our trash can is very small and can't handle too much more than normal trash). An easy 15-minute drive on Highway 17 will take you to the popular Beach Boardwalk area, the UCSC campus or downtown Santa Cruz, with its many brew pubs, coffee shops and eclectic shopping. A bit further are Wilder Ranch, Pescadero, and Half Moon Bay and San Francisco to the North; Capitola, Aptos, Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur to the South. Silicon Valley (Los, Gatos San Jose, Palo Alto) is 30 to 40 minutes away- so if you need to do some business while still being able to hit the beach nights and weekends - this apartment is an ideal launch point. We have 3 full size grocery markets, drug stores, coffee shops (Peets, Starbucks and Surf City Roasters), a renowned skatepark and a fabulous seasonal farmers market on Saturday mornings. Though there is not really much "night life" in our fair city - there is a fabulous calendar of music at Don Quixotes in Felton (less than 10 min away) You can find the calendar with your favorite web search tool. Felton also has the Roaring Camp steam train, great hiking and a zip line park as well. Our neighborhood is quiet and well-kept, with very little thru traffic and our home has several fruit trees and vegetable patches to enjoy seasonally. If you want to be close by to all the "Surf City" fun, action and ocean activities, great places to socialize and eat but but also be able to get away from it all or just relax, this mountain style home is pleasantly rustic yet very private, gated and exudes a very relaxed atmosphere. Just kick-back on one of the decks and enjoy a natural environment that's just right for you to be peaceful, unwind or just plain take it easy. Other guests have commented that you'll get some of the best sleep in your life with amazing dreams in the Master bedroom. We think it's because of being so close to the World Famous Mystery Spot! Enjoy high-speed internet for those that need fast connectivity or tap into the world of NetFlix using the AppleTV connection. Guest AccessThe home is ideal for one or two but could easily handle four adults or a couple with one or two kids. It has all the modern amenities with a large bathroom and laundry and the kitchen is set up nicely if you are a rock star at the range. On the front deck you could also be a champ on the "old-school" BBQ. This is my home, yet you'll have access to everything in the home and yard except the adjacent cottage. The basement will be locked but if you need a tool or something related, I probably have one or can get one in a hurry, so just let me know. The NeighborhoodThe home is really a relaxing retreat location yet a short quick drive to either Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley or places to the south and just minutes to the main arteries, Highway 17, to Silicon Valley and Highway 1 along the coast. You're nestled in a Redwood Mountain Valley with a stream that floes in the Winter, yet the home is situated in an open meadow with lots of light and views all around of the valley forest. Redwood Drive is just that, a 2.5 mile long drive, one lane-ish mountain road with a cul-de-sac. So no annoying traffic noise or city hustle bustle worries and not to close to any of my great neighbors. It's very safe, "over the top" peaceful easy living where you can go walking or biking or just hang out. Getting AroundYou'll need a vehicle of course and there is plenty of room to park on the gated property. Lots of people bike in Santa Cruz and in this area, so that's cool and it's easy to travel locally or get out of town as well. If you are flying in then there is plenty of local airport transit or just rent your ride at the airport. Other Things to NoteThe Redwood House is exceptional in that although it is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, unlike other valley, canyon or remote locations that don't open up to daylight or a have a view because of the forests, this location is naturally open, airy, light and spacious with great views of the hills and on a clear evening, our beautiful Monterrey Bay starry night sky.

We have a great commute location to Silicon Valley (45 minutes or so) and superb hiking is nearby in Felton and Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is a 15 to 20 minute drive. The Monterey Bay Aquarium and Carmel are a 1 hour drive. Getting AroundWe are located close to a bus station which services Silicon Valley as well as Santa Cruz locations. There is also very quick access to Highway 17 from our location. Other Things to NoteThere are shared walls with the studio, so it is likely you may hear water running, some quiet conversation within our house, and normal residential comings and goings. The first is a studio configuration with light duty kitchen but with a fabulous large walk-in closet with tons of built-in storage, plus a master bath. This is essentially a converted master bedroom which lives like a studio apartment. Very spacious and cleanly outfitted. The 2nd unit is a 1 bedroom w/walk-in closet, full bath with shower/bath combo and double sinks, separate living room, huge desk and a small deck area w/BBQ. This unit has a fully outfitted kitchen with all pot-pans, dishes, etc. Both units would include all utitlies, cable TV and fast wifi. These units are upstairs in a two level family home in Scotts Valley, accessed via an outdoor staircase. We are in a prime commute location for Silicon Valley. The units are suitable for one to two people in each space ideally, and no more than two cars. An all-in-one compact washer/dryer is on site and laundromats are closeby. Street or driveway parking provided. Prefer monthly rental up to 6 months; minimum rental timeframe is two weeks. ** These units are availalbe to rent stand-alone as well. This one-of-a-kind house on an acre was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright overlooking Henry Cowell State Redwood Park in the distance, featuring a large stone fireplace, pillow-top mattresses, down pillows (thick comforters in winter), spa robes, hair dryers, TVs in both bedrooms and TV/DVD in living room that also plays CD's. We even have a piano! 4 adults maximum and NO children under 12. We are in the Santa Cruz mountains, on the West side of the summit, only 2 minutes off of Hwy 17 and a 10-15 minute drive to Santa Cruz beaches and downtown. The fully-equipped ROUND kitchen includes granite countertops, eating area, filtered water, and as a bonus a Continental breakfast is also provided in the refrigerator for you which ordinary rentals do not provide. Step out onto the private, expansive, circular redwood deck and view 20,000 acres of Henry Cowell State Redwood Park below. A brand new 2011 Hot Springs Spa hot tub for four completes the setting.         The SpaceThis is our home and we love our home. The home is new construction completed in Fall 2013. We think you will find the accommodations to be very comfortable. You have room to spread out, relax and enjoy the area. The kitchen is a food preppers delight. There is ample counter space to make the most elaborate meals, and the dining table seats 6 very comfortably. Our dear friends live in the 4th bedroom on the bottom floor. They do not access the main house and you will likely not see them. They are very friendly and can be helpful if you need anything. Guest Access1 master bedroom with California King bed 1 bedroom with queen bed 1 bunk bed room with optional queen air mattress. 2 car garage. Let us know if you have 2 cars. Outdoor patio. Interaction with GuestsWe will either be accessible by phone and will have an emergency contact in the area or we will be occupying the attached 4th bedroom on the bottom floor. The NeighborhoodThe home is really a relaxing retreat location yet a short quick drive to either Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley or places to the south and just minutes to the main artery, Highway 17, to Silicon Valley. You're nestled in a Redwood Mountain Valley with a stream that floes in the Winter, yet the home is situated in an open meadow with lots of light and views all around of the valley forest. Redwood Drive is just that, a 2.5 mile long drive, one lane-ish mountain road with a cul-de-sac. So no annoying traffic noise or city hustle bustle worries and not to close to any of my great neighbors. It's very safe, "over the top" peaceful easy living where you can go walking or biking or just hang out. Getting AroundYou'll need a vehicle of course and there is plenty of room to park on the gated property. Lots of people bike in Santa Cruz and in this area, so that's cool and it's easy to travel locally or get out of town as well. If you are flying in then there is plenty of local airport transit or just rent your ride at the airport. Other Things to NoteThe Redwood House is exceptional in that although it is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, unlike other valley, canyon or remote locations that don't open up to daylight or a have a view because of the forests, this location is naturally open, airy, light and spacious with great views of the hills and on a clear evening, our beautiful Monterey Bay starry night sky.

However, every once in a while you can appreciate a rooster call or a coyote howl at night. Rest assured, it only adds to the character of country living and never lasts more than a few minutes.

Getting AroundCell phone reception is limited when you are in the cottage but text messages will come through. Voice calls could be spotty outside if you are not with Verizon wireless service - they have a stronger signal in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Other Things to NoteWe are located right in the middle of the historic town of Glenwood. This old western town was a hub for travelers taking the Southern Pacific Railroad to the San Lorenzo Valley and Glenwood Resort Hot Springs. In fact, the old train route used to pass right behind the cottage and through the tunnel (now closed) that goes through the mountain that Highway 17 goes over.

              The SpaceWe have been told our home reminds one of the house in the new version of "Father of the Bride". To get to your room you climb 12 stairs that go up to a very large deck ( 15'X25'). In Spring and summer there are abundant blooming flowers on the deck and gorgeous views of the greenery and trees that surround the house . From the deck --you enter your room through your own private entrance. The room is light and airy and has cathedral ceilings. The Queen bed is an antiqued bronze canopy-bed. Sumptuous designer comforters and pillows make it extra-comfy. There's a gas fireplace in one end of the room surrounded by built-in bookcases with a large variety of books. Nearby is a table and chairs where you can enjoy the delicious full breakfast that will be delivered to your door on Saturday mornings (other mornings you will find a continental breakfast in your refrigerator). Hot coffee is always available from the Keurig and if anything gets cold you can heat it up in the microwave. It really has the quality of a regular B&B without the high price-point. Guest AccessYou are welcome to use the deck and your room/bath as your private space...however the rest of the house is off-limits. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help you with directions and advice on where to eat and where to play! We love chatting with people but we can also leave you completely alone if you crave privacy. It's up to you. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is upscale country suburb living. We are across the street from some of the nicest semi-mansions in the city. Yet we are in a setting with trees and deer. It's a great combination. Getting AroundTaxi and Uber services are just a phone-call away. There is a bus-stop about 3/4 of a mile away at the bottom of the hill that is Granite Creek road. Other Things to NoteThe City of Santa Cruz is 15 minutes away. Most beaches are 20-30 minutes away. The wineries on The Summit (off of 17) are 20-30 minutes away. Scotts Valley shops and restaurants are a short walk away--but it's still very quiet.

              Treehouse with a view of the entire Monterey Bay and located on Lago Lomita Vineyards. It was built on giant Douglas Fir trees. Up the ladder/staircase leads to a 400 sq. ft. platform with a real bed, electricity, and WiFi in a tent! Since it's not too romantic to have a port-a-potty up there, you've got a full bath on the bottom floor of the main house, immediately inside the French Doors. See pics! Half hour to San Jose, 15 miles to the Capitola beach, and an hour from SFO or Monterey.

They are also invited to enjoy Happy Hour on specified evenings at the host's residence. The NeighborhoodOur property borders the highway but it goes 20 acres into the mountains. When on the property, it seems like there are no neighbors, but a few exist beyond the trees. We are in unincorporated Scotts Valley - which is 5 miles south of the actual town of Scotts Valley. We are located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but 5 miles south you'll find a grocery store, Starbucks, and some additional shopping. Los Gatos is 12 miles north of us and is the last town you will pass on your way in from San Jose. Be sure and check it out - darling town with great restaurants and shopping! Getting AroundThere is a city bus that is accessible less than 10 minutes away in the town of Scotts Valley with a Park & Ride lot. It can bring you anywhere in Santa Cruz County, as well as take you into the Silicon Valley where you can connect with buses, shuttles and taxis to the San Jose Airport. Taxi cabs are are also available, but Uber tends to be cheaper in this area. Within Santa Cruz there are bike, segue and car rentals, as well as a Trolley that can take you to the Wharf, Beach, Boardwalk and Downtown shops and restaurants for only 25 cents! Other Things to NoteOur property is located on Hwy 17 - less than 20 miles from the beach in Santa Cruz. Hwy 17 is a heavily traveled highway. Contact us for the best times to travel and information on backroads. In addition to our location being a retreat for humans, we also have a canine retreat on the property. Barking is kept to a minimum, but guests should be aware that they may see or hear leashed dogs from time to time. At this time, the Airstream is not dog-friendly. Note: You will be inhabiting the Santa Cruz Mountains along with wildlife, i.e. coyotes, deer, etc. Just be aware - they were here first!

              The SpaceThe one-room cabin is directly on the hiking trail leading up the hill on our 18-acre wooded ocean-view property. A toilet and shower are available a short walk away. Spring water from our property included, as well as fresh sheets and towels. The doorway is 6'10"; the cabin is 8' tall at the lowest places, which are the rafters, and some of the ceiling is much higher. The dimensions of the cabin are 10'x11'.
