The SpaceIn 1996, I added a master bedroom and full bath to my small 1948 Ranch style house in Garvanza (Highland Park Area of Los Angeles) on nearly 1/2 acre wooded hillside lot, now a private and secure Air BnB suite for you in Northern Highland Park, LA's hip and vibrant community which has become one of the nation's most interesting places to live, shop and dine for discerning young culturally tuned - in families!
I maintain a social media page about my area under title Historic Garvanza, Rose Hills, Highland Park & Northeast LA, chock full of information pictures and articles of interest - historical or new, for connossieurs of Highland Park and Garvanza! Search it out!

The private entrance is off the patio which has outdoor relaxation sitting / dining area, a Jacuzzi (you are welcome to partake) and access to the wooded hillside walking path..

Chefs from out of town who are interested in hosting "pop up restaurant" experiences will be happy to find that I have set up the property to accommodate them: The patios, front and back combined seat fifty for dinner and the back hillside is an entertaining park-setting venue consisting of a dance floor, deejay crows nest patio, and outdoor PA stereo system. The dance surface can be repurposed for dining al fresco, yoga retreat, etc. The entire hillside has been decorated with plush artificial grass turf, so the effect is clean and green! I will be happy to discuss very reasonable terms for use of the property for pop ups!

(off the driveway) Interaction with GuestsI live on the property but respect your privacy . I am here if you
need anything and will be happy to address all your questions concerning the location, accommodation, sights and other details. I work as a location scout / manager and have retired from being an Assistant Director on Television Series, so if you want stories and insider ideas on where to go / shop / eat / sight-see, etc., I'm happy to spend time with you. But generally, my guests appreciate being left alone to their own agenda (and if I'm not home when you arrive, I guide you through finding your key & remote control and accessing your suite).
Foreign visitors often appreciate that I offer a 10-minute driving tour of the neighborhood where I can show you all the bus stops and train stations and local collections of restaurants and stores within the immediate vicinity.
Also - I'm happy to pick you up at public transit station or bus stop. One guest was moving to LA and I picked her and her life's possessions at Union Station in my van, as she was using my suite as a base while apartment hunting. If you arrive by plane at LAX, take the flyaway bus to Union Station and I'll pick you up or coach you onto the Gold Line Metro light rail train, which will take you to Highland Park or South Pasadena stations (both are equi-distant from my house and I can pick you up at either).
I've prepared a guidebook to help acquaint you with the area, and I am happy to give you a quick driving tour to show you public transit nodes, area highlights, and local dining spots. Generally, my guests enjoy the privacy and solitude my suite offers. You come and go on your own schedule, park in the driveway, and enter your suite from the back patio's private lockable entrance. Most guests seem happy to let themselves in via hide a key instructions, park in the driveway, and collapse onto the bed to sleep after travelling. YOU WILL DISCOVER HOW SERENE AND QUIET IT IS INSTANTLY! I am gone a lot, so don't be surprised if you barely sense my presence during your stay. The Neighborhood(borrowed/lifted from another Airbnb host in Highland Park: (well described!): "Highland Park is the latest hot neighborhood in East Los Angeles. It's a funky neighborhood, that's building at a rapid pace. It's been written up as one of the most desirable new areas for artistic and creative people. York, Colorado and Figueroa all have wonderful restaurants, bars, coffee, and shopping (These are all just a little far to walk, but in a car they are each about 5 minutes away). We love Footsies bar, Good Girl Dinette, Cafe De Leche, Sonny's Hideaway, The Hermosillo, Civil Coffee, Found Coffee, Block Party (wine and beer) and Public House. Every week something new seems to open. We have a million more LA recommendations if you have the time to hear them! LA is not really a walking city, but we can help you find nearby areas to park and walk a bit.
NOTE: We love our neighborhood, but if a beach vacation is what you're looking for, we're about 35 minutes from the beach.
The metro gold line is less than a mile away and will zip you right into downtown, Hollywood, or Pasadena. It's walkable in about 10-15 minutes, or you can use Uber or Lyft to get down there. It couldn't be simpler. By car, downtown is about 10 minutes, Hollywood 15 minutes, Echo Park/Silver Lake 10 minutes. Pasadena is about 5 minutes, Glendale's about 5 minutes. The beach is 30-40 minutes depending on traffic."
Close to attractions in pasadena and south pasadena as well as my neighborhood, historic Highland Park / Garvanza (newly famous as one of the hippest neighborhoods in the country, with bars, restaurants, art galleries, and hipster adored shopping.)
This is a very quiet and safe neighborhood, with a tennis and racket club, Arroyo Seco golf course, San Pascual stables, soccer and base ball fields at walking distance. San Pascual park is super close, as well as the lower Arroyo seco park great for running and hiking.
Minutes away from South Pasadena's local shops and restaurants, close to downtown L.A and very accessible to surrounding areas.
Perfect place to stay to enjoy the January 1st Rose Parade (walking distance to Orange grove and Madeline at the beginning of the floats). I also offer to give you step-by-step instructions on using the Gold Line from South Pasadena where it's easy to park and take the train up to the parade route where you can enjoy the action and come right back on the gold line to your car only 3 minutes from my house.
This location is also minutes away to the Art Center College of Design, Caltech, Occidental College,Nasa- Jpl, the Huntington gardens, Glendale and Burbank. Getting AroundClose to bus lines and train stations to downtown la and pasadena. Two minutes driving from five freeways in all directions.
Pleasant walk around the neighborhood for a moderate walking workout and sightseeing. Foreign visitors often appreciate that I offer a 10-minute driving tour of the neighborhood where I can show you all the bus stops and train stations and local collections of restaurants and stores within the immediate vicinity.
