The Space A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a live tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it. Please read entire description before making a reservation request. It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course. There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat. The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area. There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from. Redwood Treehouse comes with its own cat, Grey, who lives outside. She is employed as a mouser and does a fine job. She is friendly and loves attention. For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor. People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet. The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day. The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region. Come and visit our amazing part of the world and experience something special about the California Coast. All linens are provided. The kitchen has the basic items for cooking, i.e., spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, and tea. Two-night minimum on weekends. THREE-DAY MINIMUM on HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. A 60.00 cleaning fee will be charged per each stay. We are a green establishment. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. We ask our guests to consider using fewer towels during their stay and not requesting a sheet change unless your stay is longer than a week. I have a moderate cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you read it thoroughly. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period.

The SpaceOur cabin is situated in the beautiful Corralitos Redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains. Where you are surrounded by nature at its best. Our house is located in a small mountain community of the Santa Cruz mountains called Corralitos. Corralitos, is a well know cycling hub, as well as an up and coming wine country. After a wonderful and rigourous ride, or day of wine tasting stop at the Corralitos Meat & Sausage Market for some of the finest smoked meats around. This cabin is a small studio that contains a queen size bed, a mini fridge, microwave, large toaster oven, hot plate, and crock pot. And a sofa bed that can accomodate two. It has a nice bathroom that contains a stand up shower and a dry composting toilet from Biolet, which we clean throughly before and after each guest. There are numerous wineries within 5-10 min and we are only 30 min away from the Santa Clara Wine Valley. Our property is 20 minutes to the closest beach including Manresa and Sunset State Beaches. We are 30 minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz and the Beach Boardwalk as well as the Mystery Spot. We are located 25 minutes from Capitola Village and Historic Watsonville. Monterey and Cannery Row are 45 minutes South and Big Sur is about an hour South. There are 3 golf courses within 15-20 min and Pebble Beach and Carmel are within an hour. We are 45 minutes away from San Jose and an hour and a half away from San Francisco. We can set you up with what ever amenity or information you may need to make your stay more enjoyable. We are also 15 minutes from the wetlands that are famous for bird watching and nice strolls There is space to relax and BBQ outside to enjoy the scenery. The cabin is completly separate from the main house and we will leave you alone for the duration of your stay unless a request is made. My family has lived on our property for over 30 years and we are more than knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Though we ourselves have dogs we ask that you please leave your pets at home. You may want to have a car as there is no close public transportation. If alone time and some good ole' peace and quiet is what you are looking for then our cabin is the place for you. Guests will be able hike the woods and relax among the redwoods Our home is located on the same property as the cabin but we are separated by a hill and a large driveway. We are within walking distance and can be available when needed. However we are far enough away that you will have your own space and quiet area. We live in the beautiful Corralitos area. We are within walking distance and can be available when needed. However we are far enough away that you will have your own space and quiet area. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around, as the nearest bus stop is more than 3 miles away. Other Things to NoteThere is no cellular reception at our home but we do have WIFI internet but due to the location of our home it can be spotty. It is mostly for email and text messaging and cannot support streaming or large downloads, however there are quite a few free WIFI locations in town and not too far away. Please be aware that because of our remote location, internet service is limited. Thanks! ******************************************************* Cozy 3 bedroom cabin with wood interior and open floor plan. Wonderful for couples, families or small gatherings of friends. Enjoy relaxing inside, making a meal in the full size kitchen, eating at the large dining table or sinking into the sectional couch with a good book or watching the large flat screen TV. Large selection of older DVD's available. Better yet take it outside onto the large deck in the middle of the Redwood Trees! Or if you'd rather spend the day out exploring, it's a scenic 25-35 minute drive to Aptos or 35 -45 minute drive to Santa Cruz. Both locations have great restaurants, beaches, and shopping. Want to go a little bit farther? Head to Monterey and the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take a look at our guidebook for more nearby activities. The kitchen is typically stocked with the basic items for cooking, i.e., pots, pans, cooking utensils, spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, tea and much more. Please help yourself. Along with everything shown in the photos, also available for your use are additional folding chairs, 1 large rectangular indoor/outdoor table, a large free standing hammock, air hockey table under queen bed upstairs, and an X-box with a few games and a large screen TV across from the twin bed upstairs (this TV does not have reception and is only for the x-box). In case you forget to bring your own, the bathroom is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and other sundries. As with most A-frame houses with an open floor plan, the two downstairs bedroom walls are free-standing. This means the bedrooms are not private and have an open ceiling. The rooms have large open doorways with curtains instead of doors. Bathrooms have folding doors. Also, the upstairs is only accessible by an outside staircase or an inside ladder that goes to a landing with a very short railing. My concerns for children at the cabin are that they are watched closely on the ladder and the second floor landing, which of course is the favorite place of every child that visits the cabin. The landing has a very low railing which I have kids keep away from. When they are on the landing, I have them sit or be on their knees only. Makes it easy to keep them from leaning over the railing. Another concern for children is the electric wall heaters that are very easy to turn on and get extremely hot. Kids LOVE the cabin and I am not trying to discourage anyone from staying. I just want to make as many details of the cabin as clear as possible and keep everyone safe. ***WATER USAGE**** Currently our water spring is running but if you are there and the water pressure drops at all simply conserve water. We are on a shared spring with our neighbors and if the pressure starts to drop and you continue using water, it will temporarily run out for both the cabin and our neighbors who live there full-time. If the pressure does start to drop, limit flushing, skip showers or take "navy showers" and make all other efforts to conserve water. For back-up emergencies, there is a drinking water dispenser and several 5 gallons jugs of water. The cabin is down a private, bumpy country road, less than one mile. We travel it in our minivan and Honda Accord, however, I would definitely not recommend it for low riding cars or if you are concerned about road dust or mud puddles when it rains! I have a "strict" cancellation policy. You must cancel a full seven days before your reservation. Please make sure that you check your dates carefully. You will be charged 50% of your stay if you cancel after the grace period. **A larger deposit is required for monthly rentals. And for our returning guests, please ask about our specials. Thank you so much! Guest AccessGuests have access to the cabin, driveway to wood bridge, wood bridge and (careful) parking for 3 cars in front of the cabin. The cabin is surrounded by Redwoods AND nearby neighbors who are not expecting to have guests exploring or hiking on their private property. Please be respectful of our wonderful neighbors to ensure the privacy of everyone in the canyon. Interaction with GuestsI am a phone call away and happy to answer any questions or address any concerns at anytime. The NeighborhoodThis is a remote property in a redwood forest on Mt. Madonna down a private gated road with a small community of nearby neighbors. It is a beautiful area, especially right at the cabin with all the Redwoods, but please do not forget, as with any rural California area, you are in the wilderness and should be aware of your surroundings and on the look out for anything from poison oak, yellow jackets, and ticks that may carry Lyme disease to Mountain Lions. There is lots of poison oak on the hillsides, I've taken two ticks off my sons, and there have been mountain lion sightings in the area. If you are unfamiliar with these things, please ask, and I am happy to discuss or direct you to websites with more information. The road into the cabin is for driving only, not walking/hiking, since the road passes through our neighbors' "front yards". Please do not use the trail by the barn as it meanders onto our neighbors property and the road going past our bridge is our neighbor's very long driveway, not a walking trail. The SpacePlease read ALL the details in this listing (especially the "House Rules") before inquiring to book! If you are looking for a place to party, this is NOT the place for you. Adults enjoying drinks around the campfire is one thing, but drunken parties are NOT allowed. Offering 375 sq. ft. of floor space, this clean and cozy 22 ft. Geodome easily accommodates 4 people. It has a huge bay window overlooking a private meadow in the redwoods and a wood stove for heating. The dome is not the only thing unique about this lodging for it is located on a private campground complete with a campfire area, outdoor showers, nearby hiking trails, and more. We provide four comfortable cots for beds, and require that guests bring their own sleeping bags or blankets and pillows. There is a small refrigerator, a microwave, an electric hot plate, and a Keurig coffee maker with a stash of coffee and tea and basic kitchen supplies. There is also a small grill outside the dome for guest use. We provide fresh drinking water from our spring fed well. For your enjoyment, there is a collection of board games, a TV with a DVD player if you want to pick up a redbox or borrow from our collection of movies, a stereo with a docking station and a few musical instruments. We also provide our guests with a guide to nearby hiking trails. Guest AccessGuests enjoy private use of the geodome and the surrounding campground, which includes an outdoor campfire pit. There are hot showers and a clean composting toilet just outside the dome. Interaction with GuestsThe dome is located a short distance away from the main house on a 4.5 acre property. We live on the property and we will be present during our guest's stay. We like to meet our guests and give them a brief orientation to make sure they are comfortable. The NeighborhoodThis lodging is in a private forest setting. It is an ideal location to intimately connect with nature. However, on occasion during the summer months, the retreat center located right next to our property hosts weddings, so you may hear the music from the reception at night if there is a wedding scheduled during your stay. It's important to arrive with everything you need for your stay...food, drinks, firewood, etc, since it's at least 15 to 30 minutes to the nearest store or town. There is parking for 2 cars on site. Other Things to NoteGuests should come prepared to cook their meals in the microwave, on the gas grill, or on a grill over the campfire. There are grocery stores nearby that offer prepared foods such as the Corralitos Market & Sausage Company and the Summit Store. Guests are responsible for bringing firewood to use in the wood stove as well as for the outdoor fire pit. Artificial fire products such as Duraflame logs are prohibited in wood stoves but are acceptable in the outdoor campfire pit. Winter lodging.... It can get very chilly up here in the mountains during the winter. We recommend that you pick up at least two to three boxes of wood to keep the dome cozy through the night. During storms, we sometimes lose power, so check the local weather before booking to see what's in the forecast!

The SpaceEscape enjoy Redwoods and privacy. Think writers retreat. World class bird watching and photography. Library, board games and a creek with a seasonal waterfall round out the off grid like experience. Remote and quiet. Bicyclist dream spot. Birds. World class bicycling amongst Redwoods and the Corralitos creek figure largely as visual backdrops. Jaw dropping nature without the crowds, privacy abounds. Not child friendly. No wi-fi, almost no cellular connectivity.. If you're looking to disconnect, look no further. World class cycling at your doorstep. Hiking trails. The Corralitos Sausage Company is your local market. I'll give you a video tour upon booking. This is due to the complex nature of private roads, driveway and uniqueness of the property. Redwoods, Private drive and no neighbors. Parking is nearby, and if you need to transit from SJC airport (one hour away) I can offer some guidance. We market to our built in fans who travel far and wide to experience our fantastic backyard. This is off the beaten track. Deep in the Redwoods. Quiet abounds. If your idea of remote is the Ritz Carlton, I'd look elsewhere. Guest AccessThis is a cabin built into the redwoods. The top perch is more tree house than cabin. The property is currently a retreat for writers and working creatives seeking a space to finish a project. There is an extremely long private driveway. Access with certain high end vehicles not encouraged due to the condition of the roads. Longer stays can be considered with a discussion and dates. Interaction with GuestsThere is a care taker nearby that can answer questions and offer guidance. My art studio is located in the garden area up a footpath about 400 yrds away. Mosiac artists and sculpture artists may use this additional space with a conversational provision. The NeighborhoodCorralitos is famous for the beauty of apple orchards and rolling hillsides. This is amazing territory for a bike. Small planes can land at the nearby Watsonville Airport ( we can help arrange travel.) San Jose Airport is 45 min, San Francisco Airport 1.5 hrs non commute hours. The Corralitos Sausage Company is the main market and an amazing place for locavore treats. The Sunday Farmers Market is held behind the Community center. Getting AroundWorld class cycling center for weekend road warriors. Local wine tasting and open studios for those looking to venture out. Redwoods soar above your heads and the sun shines down upon the nearby Corralitos creek (runs thru the property, we wade daily.) San Jose Airport is 40 min over a twisty road. Lots of steep terrain and did I mention the jaw dropping Redwoods? Other Things to NoteSteep terrain and miles of trails can offer you the opportunity to get very lost. A GPS or compass is a good tool to carry. Poison Oak is prevalent in this part of the world. Caution to those walking at night, a head lamp is a solid investment as there is no light unless there is a moon. We have a great Dobsonian telescope to enjoy the splendor of these night time skies. We do live in the house, but, are quiet and will respect your privacy. The NeighborhoodWe are located in sunny, Corralitos Village across from public tennis courts and park, around the corner from the famous Corralitos Market (fabulous sausages, local fruits and veggies.) There are picnic tables in front of the Market where bicyclists and hikers may drop in for lunch or snacks. A block further are both a tacquiria and pizza parlor. Drop in to eat at their picnic tables or take your food with you as you wander the country roads. The roads are fairly quiet, flat with the odd hill. You will ride through old and new orchards, go by the berry farms that Driscoll has planted along Corralitos Road. You may want to stop at Alladin Nursery on the corner of Corralitos and Freedom. They have a unique gift shop, fabulous flowers and plants owned by the same family for several genertions. Roses of Yesterday down Brown's Valley Rd is an old, 1920's, family owned, peaceful, multiacre heritage rose garden. They host a special Mother's Day tour annually. However you are welcome anytime to stop, tour, have a picnic at one of their tables, and buy a rose on the honor system if you see one you like. You can bike the Corralitos Wine Trail, stopping for a tasting at Nicholson, Alfaro, Pleasant Valley Vineyards with Windy Oaks a bit further. Of course we are only a few miles from the ocean or Aptos's Nisene Marks State park with second growth redwoods and hiking trails that can go up into the mountains. Aptos boasts several fine and fun restaurants, Cafe Sparrow, Au Midi; Zameen, Burger and of course, Aptos Barbecue (music most nights.) Further afield, another 15 minutes lies Santa Cruz, the Boardwalk, University, surfing, beaches galore and of course, some excellent restaurants. Forty minutes South is Monterey with its fabulous Aquarium and from there to Big Sur. Getting AroundAs we are in the country, a car or bike, or your two feet are probably the best way to get around to see the sights. There is a county bus that stops at the Market, hourly that takes you South or North. Other Things to NoteTaxes paid to the county are included in the per night price. We are in the third year of a drought. We are on drip irrigation and do try to be careful with water use. You will find that our county conserves water, may only offer water by request at restaurants. We have a plastic bag ban and stores will sell bags for your goods for a quarter.

The SpaceOur home is just outside of the city of Santa Cruz, between Aptos and Corralitos. If you're looking for a less touristy location and quiet long stretches of beach, Aptos is the place for you. You can also experience the excitement of Santa Cruz and then come home to this more country-like setting. The third bedroom is unattached from the house in our backyard which you will access through a gate from the side yard. Please note we do accommodate one-night only stays, but at a premium rate. Once you request our place we will send you an offer, this will vary with the seasons. Guest AccessOur guests will have access to fresh eggs, organic fruits and vegetables while in-season, that you can harvest straight from our backyard chicken house, garden and greenhouse. Interaction with GuestsMost often we do all interactions virtually. The NeighborhoodI love that I can be in my car less than 10 minutes and be in the redwood forest or on the most beautiful beaches of the Central Coast. I love that in less than 1.5 hours I can be in the lively city of San Francisco or in Big Sur exploring the most breathtaking waterfalls and beaches in the world. I love that when I look out my kitchen window I see cows roaming the hillside. Getting AroundYes, the bus stop is right across the street, 500 feet from the house. Other Things to NoteWe have chickens in our backyard that are self-sufficient and should not negatively impact your stay. They will have all they need and have an automatic door that lets them in and out during your stay.

The SpaceA cozy and romantic fireplace will greet you in winter or other cold days. The kitchenette has a refrigerator with ice (and we can always give you extra from ours). It has a large microwave, a toaster, an electric tea kettle, electric drip coffee pot and a Keurig automatic machine. Outside on your deck we just put in a nice small gas barbecue. We do not have a hot plate for fear of fires inside. The kitchen area has a generous counter, cabinets and sink. You will find all the basic utensils and dishes needed. Regularly needed condiments include, coffee, tea, salt, pepper, vinegar, oil, mustard, mayonnaise, sugar, butter, and milk for coffee. We will be near by so anything simple can be requested from our kitchen to help out. And by the way, the water here is considered the best; I have a friend who comes here to refill her gallon containers! The bathroom is part of the suite/studio space with its own door and has a handsomely tiled shower, counter and floor. The ceiling is raised like the rest of the place, and has both a skylight and a window. Guest AccessYour studio/suite is private and a separate building from our house. We are near to help as needed, and respect each other's privacy. The spa/hot tub is located in its own garden space with a view to the oaks and redwoods. We use it early each morning but after that it's yours when desired. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available to greet, and acquaint you with the place for your stay. We have two small Scottish terriers. They are very friendly, though they might bark a greeting when you arrive. They live in our main house and patrol the gardens a few times per day. The front entrance has a simple latch at the top of the gate. It's there to keep deer from entering our gardens. If you arrive late, please be sure to relatch it. My art studio downstairs is used only by me, so when in use, my activities should not affect your stay in any way—no loud noise from me etc. The NeighborhoodPrivate and welcoming to long walks and cycling. Our road forms a comfortable, scenic 3 mile walk through an apple orchard and wooded areas. You can hear a small waterfall from Valencia Creek as you walk though the orchard area. Our home and guest suite are very private and surrounded by redwoods and oaks. Getting AroundFive minutes by car to Hi. 1 the "Coast Route". Ten minutes to beach and groceries etc. Thirty minutes to Monterey. Fifteen minutes to Santa Cruz. Forty minutes to San Jose International Airport.
