Built with massive logs and expansive glass, The Silver Lake Lodge faces St. Mary's Glacier and offers amazing views from every room and our massive deck. The lodge features a Fireplace Room with an inviting river rock fireplace, an adjoining Dining Room where meals are served, and a Media Room with an electric fireplace and giant 55-inch TV so you can enjoy movies and games. We provide Free Internet and a computer for guest use. You decide how you want to spend your time here. Year-round hiking, winter snowshoeing, summer picnics, skiing, shopping, sight-seeing, river rafting, hot-air ballooning, golfing, zip-lining, and four-wheeling to name a few. You may instead decide to simply stay in and re-energize at the lodge. In addition to the gourmet breakfast included with your stay, you may order lunch and dinner packages for an additional fee. Take lunch to go on your explorations or choose to stay all day and enjoy meals at the lodge. Our helpful host will happily accommodate your special requests. Room rates range from $169.00 to $279.00 per room, and all-room rental ranges from $1,000 to $1,550 per night. Arrive as guests, but leave as friends. We look forward to hosting you at The Silver Lake Lodge! Guest AccessIn addition to your room and private bath, you can enjoy our Fireplace Room with its inviting river rock fireplace shared with a large adjoining Dining Room (the perfect area to play cards or board games). The Media Room offers comfortable group seating, an electric fireplace, a giant 55 inch TV, and movies and games galore. The expansive deck is a great place to unwind and take in the views. Free internet is accessible throughout the lodge, and a computer is available for guest use. Enjoy discovering the mountain art displayed as you wander about the lodge. We also offer a number of great Colorado-inspired gifts to buy for family & friends. Interaction with GuestsYou will be greeted by our on-site innkeeper/host who will welcome you with a tasty check-in snack! The host will get you settled in and is available to offer suggestions and directions to local restaurants, Colorado activities, shopping, and ski resorts. Most often we find guests enjoy connecting with each other and making new friends, but you can have as much or as little interaction as you want! We have a number of common area rooms (noted above) where you can get away by yourselves. Of course there's also your private room, AND the great outdoors! The NeighborhoodViews, mountains, views, relaxing/quiet... did we mention views? You decide how you want to spend your time here! After enjoying the complimentary breakfast, you're on your own to explore the area choosing from: year-round hiking, winter snowshoeing, summer picnics by one of our many lakes, skiing, shopping, sight-seeing, river rafting, hot-air ballooning, golfing, zip-lining, or 4-wheeling. Ask the host the night before and we will provide a sack lunch-to-go to take with you on your adventure. Have a meal at one of a dozen or more great restaurants only 20 minutes away, or order lunch and dinner right here at the lodge and you never have to leave the property. You may choose to stay in and simply relax by the fire and re-energize! Getting AroundEven at 10,500 feet, we are fortunate to have some of the best maintained roads you'll find in the mountains. Fall River Road is paved all the way from I-70 with only the last 1/4 mile to the lodge changing to gravel. The road is accessible year-round, but we recommend 4-wheel drive if you plan to get out and explore the Colorado mountains! Although public transit is not available in our area, there are plenty of rental car locations. We are under an hour drive from Denver, but you'll feel 1,000 miles away! This is truly a place to escape! (Directions provided at check-out) Other Things to NoteThere's always a hearty, complimentary breakfast each morning, and if you prefer not to leave the lodge, we will provide lunch and/or dinner at an additional cost. We also offer an all-inclusive meal package at a discounted rate (contact the host for details). High Altitude Tips: Denver is truly the Mile-High City at 5,280 feet and our property is located nearly TWO miles high at 10,500 feet. If you are visiting from a lower altitude, it will likely take a day or two to acclimate. Give your body time to adjust by avoiding strenuous exercise the first day, limiting alcohol intake, and by drinking lots of water…LOTS!! The air is drier up here and your body will dehydrate much more quickly. The higher up you go, the more water you should drink. Get plenty of good rest and enjoy yourself!

While I do provide some basic necessities (shampoo, coffee, tea, a few snacks), guests are responsible for their own provisions. There is a grocery store (Safeway) five miles away, as well as many restaurants (pizza, BBQ, mexican, cajun, fast food etc.) Coffee shops too including Starbucks (Idaho Springs) & Dunkin Donuts (Black Hawk inside a casino). All friendly guests are welcome: Young, Old, Straight, Gay, Trans, Naturist, Black, Brown, Asian, White, Democrat, Republican, Liberal, Conservative, Modest, Nudist, Vegan, Vegetarian, Plant Based, Carnivore, Atheist, Religious... Get it? If I missed someone, you're welcome too as long as you're not a criminal :) Pot/marijuana/weed/420 friendly (smoking outside only!) See "House Rules" for smoking policy.

The NeighborhoodIt's pretty much the most desirable spot in Gilpin county. Aspen groves, views of mt. Thorodin, sleeping giant. The neighbors are quiet, being last house at the end of the road makes traffic minimal. We offer rented fat bike electric assist if your are mountain bike savvy A yoga teacher lives on property if you want a personal class If you are not afraid of cold weather and are staying during the winter the host can guide backcountry skiing from the house. Getting AroundNo public transportation along peak to peak highway. Hitch hiking or uber/lyft is possible, if you roll that way. A bus system (RTD) is reliable from DIA to Boulder, then Boulder to Nederland. If you make it that far, for a small fee the host or a friend of the host can help out. Other Things to NoteDon't forget warm clothes no matter what time of year it is. Colorado can be unforgiving! I mentioned this in other headings, but if you are visiting OCT-MAY please rent vehicles with AWD and good tires, lump gulch rd is a long windy dirt road that can be unassumingly difficult in winter. Thanks!

Do reviews tell it all? We think so, especially since so many of our guests have stayed at many vacation rentals, and say that ours is THE best! Check them out under 'Reviews'... Looking for the perfect weekend retreat less than an hour from Denver, but surrounded by the great outdoors? Our stream-side home at St. Mary's Glacier has it all. Romance? The sound of the creek just yards away fills the home from almost every window; the great room with a vaulted paneled ceiling and windows filling the entire southern wall with a view of the stream below and Mt. Evans in the distance; a fireplace nestled in a stone hearth; and warm touches everywhere - knit throws to wrap up in, soft lighting, natural hickory floors, paneled ceilings in every room, and windows that open up your view to the great outdoors. Nature? Stroll through our five acres with our guidebooks and identify the flora and fauna, or gather your own kindling for that evening's fire. Our property goes north to the road that borders Lake Quivera - a perfect early morning stroll to catch the sunrise while waiting for your coffee to brew. From our deck (and sometimes, ON our deck) I've seen moose, deer, coyote, fox, bear, beaver, muskrat as well as 48 different species of birds. We keep food in stock for the feeders so you'll have a chance to view them too. Outdoor adventure? We'll show you the nearby hiking trails; we've got two pairs of snowshoes,, hiking sticks and that extra pair of thick gloves. And challenge you to find the small unmarked gravesite up on Yankee Hill. A retreat for the mind and heart? We have unusual books on almost every subject - find an old favorite or make a new discovery. We have a computerized telescope - take it down to our 'star field' and navigate your way around the incredible mountain sky far away from city lights and pollution. And finally, we've tried to think of the things that will make your visit perfect...there's a large propane grill on the upper level deck; the TV is in it's own room on the entry level so the sports fanatics don't intrude on those upstairs contemplating nature. Lots of room for privacy, with the TV room, bedroom and bath on entry level; the great room, 2nd bedroom, 2nd bath, kitchen and dining area on the middle level, and the loft above it all (perfect place for the kids to camp in the evening).
