The SpaceOur home boasts 270 degree views of the Sangre de Cristo & Collegiate Mountain Ranges. Guests have the run of 40 acres of private trails on our property. There are absolutely no visible neighbors unless you count the local wildlife walking past your bedroom window. Guest AccessGuests have a private driveway and entrance. The lower level is comprised of 3 bedrooms with comfy queen beds and one mini bedroom with a full-size memory foam mattress. One of the main bedrooms has a full size bunk bed set and a twin size bunk bed set, perfect for a gaggle of kids. The guest suite is complete with a large shower. The other large bath has a separate laundry room with tons of storage should you stay a while. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a living/dining room which includes a flat screen TV, dvd player, movies, games, books and plenty of tourist info and maps for your pleasure. Interaction with GuestsWe live full time in the upper level of the home. You won't see us much unless you need anything. We can offer advice on sites to see, as well as answer any questions guests may have about the area. We each hail from different parts of the country, Connecticut and Kansas, and happily collided in Colorado where we are enjoying a productive retirement. Our family consists of six adult children and six grandkids with one more on the way, so we are used to having a full house. We're an easy-going couple and enjoy doing home exchanges around the world, designing the pergola and green house we'll build next and sharing our home with people from around the globe. The NeighborhoodAltitude and attitude are attributes unique to Colorado and we think you'll agree. At 9300 ft. you'll often be above the clouds here. Hiking our 40 acre property with 270 degree views of the Sangre de Cristo and Collegiate Mountain ranges, your attitude will soar. Our new home faces south with stunning views and lots of glass to absorb the Colorado sun. We've got radiant heat beneath tile floors and a comfortable environment year round; two levels, each 2000 sq. ft., ours above and yours below; separate driveways, private entrances, hot tub and fire-pit to enjoy while you gaze at the stars.. Best of all, no neighbors in sight. Find us by heading west up the scenic pass from Colorado Springs on Hwy 24, about a 35 minute drive. You'll pass glorious Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak Cog Railway and the charming town of Manitou Springs where you can hike the very vertical 'Incline' if you dare or eat and shop till you drop. Play at the old-fashioned Penny Arcade in Manitou and then proceed west again on Hwy 24. You'll pass a few more quirky and sweet mountain towns and arrive in Woodland Park, the largest of the local mountain towns. Stop for an apple fritter the size of your head at The Donut Mill and notice many other dining options. Also find the Dinosaur Resource Center, a Friday Farmer's Market in summer, and beautiful Rampart Reservoir hidden above town. Continue west on Hwy 24 with a quick photo-op stop at Edlowe Rd. on your left, where you'll see Pike's Peak in a picture postcard setting. Back on the road, still heading west through the town of Divide, look toward the left at the light and intersection, as that road, 67 South, will take you to the mining and gambling town of Cripple Creek (lots of history there) and along that route, to our favorite short hike, "The Crags", with amazing rock formations, slick rock and canyon views and a lone tree at the top that has been so twisted by the wind that it looks like an ancient olive tree. The trail also joins the Pikes Peak trail system. Mueller State Park is also in that direction. Back to our route. From Divide, continue west on Hwy 24 and turn left at Twin Rocks Road in 1.5 miles. Pass the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center where you can take a tour and howl with the wolves. Go another half mile and turn left onto Trout Lake Rd. (not Trout Haven Rd. which comes first). Almost there. Take an immediate right and follow Kutsu Ridge Road to the top and drive through two open gates. Another 100 yards or so and you'll arrived at The GreenHouse at Kutsu Point on your left. Once you've settled in, check out the Florissant Fossil Beds, 11 Mile Canyon where our adult kids go rock-climbing, and try your luck at fly-fishing in the 'dreamstream' or (South Platte River). If you are really ambitious, Breckenridge, a gorgeous ski resort town lies 80 miles west of us and another trek, The Royal Gorge in Canon City, a scenic 70 minute drive. When you've conquered all that there is to see and do, (ours was the short list), come on back to the GreenHouse. Relax around the fire pit, take a deep breath and truly savor the exquisite Colorado Altitude with your newfound Colorado Attitude! Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around, as our home is in a rural, private area. During snow season, 4-wheel drive is recommended. Other Things to NoteWe looked at a lot of parcels upon which to build our solar home and when we walked this property, we both said, "THIS is IT!" All of our 40 acres are easily walkable and we've had lots of fun making trails and naming them. Don has drawn a map and labeled all of our trails so guests can easily navigate them and find their way back home. All taxes are included in the rental price.

The SpaceWe moved to Colorado from Minnesota 12 years ago and discovered family and friends like to visit us now ;-) As the home we purchased is a bit small we decided there was a need for another space for guests so we built this studio apartment. It's a cozy little space for 2 with all the conveniences for a short trip away from home. Interaction with GuestsWe are here if you need us but if you want your privacy we are just fine with that too. We've tried to make this as self service as possible so if you like, you can just show up, enjoy your stay and head out or if you want to stop in and say hey just come up and knock on the door of the house. We work from the house but we do come a go quite a bit during the day. Welcome to our “Cabin in the Woods” located on five rural acres in beautiful Divide, Colorado! From the moment you enter through the secure iron gate and drive down the winding driveway to the cabin the peace and tranquility of the area will settle upon you like a blanket. The gentle wind blowing through the grove of Aspens and fir trees whispers a sweet “Velkommen”! I was born and raised in Hammerfest, Norway, known as the northernmost town in the world! There the winters were long, dark and extremely cold. The summers were short, lasting perhaps 4-6 weeks, but balmy and brightened by the Midnight Sun. After immigrating to the United States I missed the mountains and scenery of my homeland, which is why I love living in Colorado so much! The majestic views of Pikes Peak and the Rockies remind me of my childhood home. When you enter our cabin you will notice the beautiful natural hickory hardwood floors on the main level as well as rustic décor and touches throughout. The living area has a comfortable leather recliner/rocker and sofa. There is a 46” HD flat screen TV and cable programming offered by DirecTV as well as a Blue Ray DVD player. Enjoy a cozy fire in the convenient gas fireplace. The dining table seats six people when the extra leaf is used. Additional seating is provided by four barstools at the kitchen counter. There is a propane grill on the deck for your use if you wish to grill your dinner. The cabin is located on 5 acres of forestland covered with mostly Aspen trees, wild flowers and all natural vegetation and tall grasses. We hope our guests will enjoy the cabin, the natural vegetation and forest life and setting so totally different from life in the city. There is so much to experience and enjoy at our Cabin in the Woods! The Aspen trees on our acreage remind me so much of my childhood home in Norway. Here my wife and two children take long exciting “nature walks”. We thoroughly love exploring our own land as well as nearby national forest. Wildlife abounds everywhere. We often see deer, some accompanied by their newborn fawns. There are elk, foxes, rabbits and occasionally we might see a mother bear with her cubs! Majestic eagles soar, as well as hawks, owls, songbirds and humming birds. In the evening as the glorious Colorado sun sets enjoy a family meal on the spacious deck. Here feel the cooling breezes of approaching evening rustling the leaves of the Aspen trees, watch families of deer come close to your private gathering, and watch hummingbirds hovering close and hear song birds serenade. Be sure to have your camera ready. You might just get pictures you will treasure for years to come. Our children (7 and 4 years old) cavort outdoors from early till late. They catch butterflies, pick wildflowers for their mom and wonder in amazement over dragonflies, grasshoppers, caterpillars, huge tiger moths, and smaller moths and butterflies with wings of every hue. This last summer they found many bird’s nests, including a humming bird nest with the mother bird tending her tiny eggs. Many educational hours were spent spying on hatching birds, bunny babies and other wild creatures! The kitchen is stocked with dishes, glassware, flatware, pots & pans, etc. Besides the glass top electric stove, refrigerator and dishwasher you will also find smaller appliances such as a hand mixer, waffle iron, blender, rice cooker and coffee maker. The master bedroom is located on the main level and features a comfortable king-sized bed. There is a 40” HD flat screen TV with DVD player in this bedroom for your enjoyment. The full bathroom on the main floor is located just outside of the master bedroom and offers a tub/shower combination, sink vanity and toilet. Just beyond the bathroom is a laundry closet where a full-sized washer and dryer are available for your convenience. Upstairs you will find the second bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed. Also located on the upper level, the third bedroom has the capacity to sleep three people in the twin bunk beds and additional twin sized bed. The bathroom on the upper level has a shower, sink vanity and toilet. All bedrooms are furnished with quality linens and bedding and the bathrooms are stocked with soft bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. Each bathroom has a hair dryer provided, and you will find an iron & ironing board in the laundry closet. Outside there is a spacious wrap around deck where you can enjoy your meals “al fresco” or your morning coffee while soaking in the beauty of the natural surroundings. There is a propane grill on the deck for your use if you wish to grill your dinner. The cabin is located on 5 acres of forestland covered with mostly Aspen trees, wild flowers and all natural vegetation and tall grasses. Grasses and wildflowers and other "natural" vegetation grow in wild profusion and provide food and shelter for the abundant wildlife in the area. You will be within easy distance of many attractions in and around Colorado Springs, the old historic Cripple Creek, the majestic 14.115 ft. Pikes Peak and enjoy fishing in crystal clear mountain lakes and streams. I once took the cogwheel train from Manitou Springs up to the dizzying heights of Pikes Peak, where Katharine Lee Bates in 1893 received her inspiration to write the song America the Beautiful. You can also drive to the top of the mountain for a modest fee - that is if you are not too faint of heart! Finally toward evening as the glorious Colorado sun sets, come home to your Cabin in the Woods and enjoy a family meal on the spacious deck. If you enjoy unspoiled nature, fresh mountain air, privacy and a chance to “get away from it all”, this is the place for you!

Altitude and attitude are attributes unique to Colorado and we think you'll agree. 9300 ft. of altitude at our place and there's no arguing that you'll be in the clouds here. Hiking our 40 acre property with 270 degree views of the Sangre de Cristo and Collegiate Mountain ranges, your attitude will soar. Our new home faces south with stunning views and lots of glass to absorb the Colorado sun. We've got radiant heat beneath tile floors and a comfortable environment year round; two levels, each 2000 sq. ft., ours above and yours below; separate driveways, private entrances, hot tub and a fire-pit with firewood provided to enjoy while you gaze at the stars. While you'll not see or hear us unless you'd like to, we'd be happy to point you in the right direction or answer any questions you may have about the area. We are Valerie and Don, how-do-you-do, a retired couple with a friendly dog named Chance. Our avocations include home exchanging around the world, building things and thinking about the pergola and greenhouse we are going to add next. A game of Scrabble and a glass of wine on one of our patios is as wild as we get. You'll be quite comfortable here; lots of light, three bedrooms with comfy queen beds, plus a bonus room with a double bed. One of the bedrooms has a full-size bunk bed set and a twin-size bunk bed set in addition to the Queen bed. There is tons of storage should you stay a while, two large bathrooms, a separate laundry room, kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and a great room with dining area, outfitted with flat screen TV, DVD player, WIFI, books, games and movies. Best of all, no neighbors in sight. Find us by heading west up the scenic pass from Colorado Springs on Hwy 24, about a 35 minute drive. You'll pass the glorious Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Pikes Peak Cog Railway and the charming town of Manitou Springs where you can hike the very vertical 'Incline' if you dare or eat and shop till you drop. Play at the old-fashioned Penny Arcade and then proceed west again on Hwy 24. You'll pass a few more quirky and sweet mountain towns and arrive in Woodland Park, the largest of the local mountain towns. Stop for an apple fritter the size of your head at The Donut Mill and notice many other dining options. See the Dinosaur Resource Center, a Friday Farmer's Market and beautiful Rampart Reservoir, hidden above town. Continue west on Hwy 24 with a quick photo op stop at Edlowe Rd. on your left, Just past the new hospital, where you'll see Pike's Peak in a picture postcard setting. Back on the road, still heading west through the town of Divide, look toward the left at the intersection, as that road, 67 South, will take you at some point to the mining and gambling town of Cripple Creek. Lots of history there. When you do go, stop at 'The Crags', our very favorite short hike, with amazing rock formations, slick rock and canyon views which just may rival parts of the Grand Canyon. There is a lone tree at the top that has been so twisted by the wind, it looks like an ancient olive tree. Mueller State Park is also in that direction. Back to our route. From Divide, continue west on Hwy 24 and turn left at Twin Rocks Road, pass the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center where you can howl with the wolves, go another half mile and turn left onto Trout Lake Rd , (not Trout Haven Rd. which comes first). Almost there. Take an immediate right on Kutsu Ridge Road, at the top, drive through two open gates and another 100 yards or so and you've arrived at The GreenHouse at Kutsu Point on your left. Once you've settled in, check out the Florissant Fossil Beds, 11 Mile Canyon where our kids go rock-climbing, and fly-fishing in the 'dreamstream' or South Platte River. If you are really ambitious, Breckenridge, a gorgeous ski resort town is 80 miles west of us and The Royal Gorge, a scenic 70 minute drive you'll not want to miss. When you've conquered all that there is to see and do, (ours was the short list), come back to the GreenHouse, simply sit back, take a deep breath and truly savor the exquisite Colorado Altitude with your newfound Colorado Attitude!
