The SpaceNestled among some of the oldest Ponderosa Pine trees, and with magnificent views of the red cliffs of the Animas Valley, the Ponderosa House is the perfect get-away destination for those who seek to discover Durango, Colorado and the Four Corners region. The Ponderosa House is our home and not a sparse, time-share space nor an impersonal hotel room. Originally built in 1938 as a one-bedroom cabin, two renovations have increased the living space and added a master bedroom and bath. Many of the cabin’s original character points still remain including bead board ceilings, rustic built-ins and a 1950’s metal kitchen cabinet. The Ponderosa House is approximately 1500 sq. ft., sleeps 6, has a great room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office/reading room, open concept kitchen, a utility with new (2012) washer and dryer, wrap around deck and a small fenced yard for your dog’s convenience. The newly updated kitchen has granite counter tops and a 5 -burner gas stove with griddle and a convection option oven. The full size refrigerator includes an ice maker. Cabinets are stocked with bake ware, pots and pans, an abundance of cooking utensils, Fiesta table ware and an assortment of spices, flour and coffee. There is a large microwave, 10 cup coffee maker, toaster, a large crock pot, casserole and serving dishes. The great room’s wall of windows fills the room with natural light and provides views of Missionary Ridge. The floors are Saltillo tiles from Mexico, have in-floor heating and are warmly covered with rugs. A 42" HDTV flat screen television, DVD player, DISH Network with HBO, WIFI with high speed internet, an extra HDMi connector for your gaming unit, and an iPod speaker bar keep you entertained and connected. Relax on the full size couch or the love seat sleeper sofa and expect to fight over two of the most comfortable leather recliners on the planet! Our Ethan Allen British Classics dining room table will seat 10 guests when two leafs are added. Hanging above the table is a 1900’s stained glass light. A stained glass panel sitting in a window adds warmth to the room. Our French Country designed master bedroom features a Sterns & Foster queen sleigh bed with a Tempurpedic mattress pad, Ethan Allen dresser, original artwork, and black out drapes. Plush linens, additional 500 count sheets and comforters are provided. The on-suite bath was remodeled in 2012. Step out onto the deck for magnificent red cliff views, and enjoy the seasonal stream. The Cabin room is a rustic bedroom decorated with family antiques and collectibles. It has a queen size bed and a window that sports a views of the San Juan Mountain range. You will find books to read, movies to watch, a cozy nook next to the gas fireplace to sit and contemplate and a roll top desk to use if you must! Your host is located in a suite next door and can provide you with FAX and printing service as well as help with any questions or concerns. CLEANING: Guests can expect a clean and welcoming space with clean towels and sheets, dusted furniture, disinfected bathrooms (sinks, showers, toilets) kitchen counters, stove, refrigerator & appliances. We disinfect light switches, door knobs & remotes. Floors are swept & mopped. Carpets are cleaned four times a year or as needed. Year-round opportunities for adventure are just outside our door: an old stagecoach trail begins at the front door and winds up the mountain to Hidden Valley. It is a local favorite for hiking and mountain biking. Nordic adventures are just 20 minutes north at the Durango Mountain Resort (Ski Purgatory). Trimble Hot Springs Spa, open year round, has a swimming pool, hot springs pools, a full service spa and is located ½ mile south. One of Durango's most beautiful golf courses, Dalton Ranch, is within a mile. Historic Downtown Durango and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are 12 minutes south. Durango's nightlife is legendary with many local breweries and gourmet restaurants. Floating down the Animas River on a hot summer day is truly a bucket list experience. Just a couple of miles north is James Ranch, a sustainable working ranch with the best burgers and organic produce in the area. History lovers will find the ancient dwellings of Mesa Verde captivating. Movie buffs can stand where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid jumped off a cliff at Baker’s Bridge or at the historic Strater Hotel, see the cash register where Clark Griswold stole money in National Lampoon's Family Vacation. Make sure your camera is charged, as our home in the mountains is also home to deer, elk, bear, wild turkeys, an assortment of chipmunks and hummingbirds. Rock hunters, there are thousands of closed mines with tailings waiting for you to sift through them! PJ's Gourmet Grocery and a liquor store are located within a mile. Ask about our pre-arrival grocery service and your favorite snacks and beverages will be waiting for you. Your host is a retired hotelier who chose this remarkable property as a place to retire. Guest AccessMORE DETAILS ABOUT THE HOUSE The home is well suited for 4 people (an ideal spot for couples traveling together), but can accommodate 1 or 2 more people with the day bed and trundle in the Reading Room (and another 2 people in the attached Tree Ghost Studio…inquire about additional cost for this option). The Verde Suite with king bed provides spectacular east, south and west facing views of the Animas Valley. The Terlingua Room has a queen bed and is cozily tucked away on the first floor with views to the east and north. Exquisite granite, natural stone and tile designs adorn both bathrooms. The house is fully furnished and stocked with linens, towels, cookware, kitchen utensils and a BBQ grill. The outdoor fire pit is perfect for a roaring blaze and making s’mores. There is also Wifi, a TV with DirectTV satellite service (including movie channels), a full stereo system (with outdoor speakers), and a Sonos player in the Verde Suite. Safely store bikes and other gear in the spacious garage. CANNABIS CONSUMPTION Guests are welcome to consume marijuana on the premises, but there is no smoking indoors (vaporizers okay). I sometimes stay in the attached Tree Ghost Studio, (the apartment with separate entrance on opposite side of house; also available for rent to sleep another 2 people) and will always inform guests if I plan to do so. I may also need to occasionally access the garage and greenhouse while working the garden, as well as the main house to water indoor plants, or perform other maintenance duties. Entry times with estimated lengths of stay are coordinated with guests ahead of time by text to ensure respect of privacy. Questions? Please send! The NeighborhoodThe people who will love this house are those who: A) Are looking to unwind in a healthy home designed to please the senses. "Restored, relaxed, refreshed" are common phrases from our guests. B) Want to enjoy the amenities Durango has to offer but also want to be a little closer to the back country. You probably will not like this house if you: A) Want to engage heavily in the Durango night life (windy road with water-filled ditch to the side...stay in town and walk instead...DUIs = bad vacation). B) I can't think of any other reason why. Getting AroundYou will need your own transportation. There is plenty of parking around the house. Other Things to NoteIMPORTANT: During certain winter conditions the road up to the house can get quite icy. It's only 50 yards from CR 250, but you will need 4X4 and good tires to safely navigate it.

The SpaceWhen our family travels we generally stay in vacation homes and we do our best to make ours everything we would want in a vacation home. We hope you love it and have a great stay. We live on the property and will stop by and say hi when you check in. We are always happy to discuss ideas for things to do, places to eat, etc. in the area. Originally rural farmland, this area is developing with more homes and neighborhoods but still retains a rural feel with open fields, national forest, wildlife and orchards. The house sits in a fruit orchard near the original farmhouse. The house has beautiful red cliff and orchard views and plenty of space for the adults to relax and the kids to run around. It has a large covered porch looking into the orchard and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gage train can be seen on it's daily run in the distance. It is a newly furnished smoke free/pet free house. The master bedroom has a luxurious king size bed and master bath. Down the hall and past the second bathroom are two rooms; a queen bed in one, and the “kids” room that can sleep up to five comfortably. The kitchen boasts granite counter tops and is fully equipped with everything you might need. We have a large gas grill on the covered porch for the outdoor cook. Down stairs the open floor plan has abundant south facing windows and includes the kitchen, dining, and living room areas. A TV room sits just off the living area. We offer Wi-Fi Internet and a large library of classic movies. We are in the perfect location for outdoor fun and just short drive to Durango for “city’ activities. Minutes from the Cider House are hot springs, hiking and biking trails in the San Juan National forest and skiing at Durango Mountain Ski Resort. Just up the road you will find a grocery store, pizza place, and liquor store. Natural beauty abounds. High mountain peaks and ghost towns to the north, Anasazi ruins and the desert sand stone canyons to the west. This is a perfect base location to enjoy everything the South West has to offer. In the Fall (October) you are welcome to join us as we pick the apple orchard and make fresh apple cider on weekends. July brings fresh cherries and August plumbs and apricots you can eat right off the trees surrounding the house. Our boys are 12,12, and 14 and love making new friends and playing outdoor games. Guest AccessGuests are welcome pick fruit in season. We do have a couple mountain bikes you can use. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting new people and enjoy hanging out with guests. We have lived here 20 years so if you have questions about what to see and do, where to eat, etc. we are just a few house away and always happy to help you plan according to what your interests are. We have 3 boys that love to play with new friends. Aged 14 and twins 12. The NeighborhoodHermosa is just a great area. In the summer there are always lots of people biking, walking, etc. A breakfast and lunch diner, a liquor store and gas station are within easy walking distance and Trimble Hot Springs and Spa is just 2 miles down the road. Getting AroundWalking, biking, free trolley will get you just about anywhere in Durango within minutes. Other Things to NoteWe can accomodate larger groups if needed as we actually have 3 bedrooms, each with beds, a full-size sofa couch in the living room and a twin-size pull out couch in the upstairs living room. The SpaceTHERE IS A SMALL SITTING AREA UP FRONT, AND A SMALL BEDROOM IS ADJACENT TO THE MAIN BEDROOM, SO YOU MUST WALK THROUGH THE SMALLER BEDROOM TO GET TO THE BATHROOM. THE SMALLER BEDROOM SITS JUST OFF OF THE KITCHEN. THERE IS A TWIN BED IN THE SMALLER ROOM AND A KING IN THE MAIN BEDROOM. THIS HOME WOULD BE PERFECT FOR A COUPLE TRAVELING THROUGH DURANGO. The SpaceWe built our new home in 2006. It is a very confortable 2100 square feet with the main living area including the kitchen, living room and master bedroom on the street level. Downstairs are two more bedrooms and an offfice with internet that opens onto the lower patio, barbeque area, yard and garden. Our home sits on a hillside and commands a "Million Dollar View" of the La Plata Mounatins of Southwest Colorado. Our home features hardwood floors, granite countertops, tile entries, two car garage and a large deck to enjoy breakfast and sunsets. The gourmet kitchen has stainless steel appliances and a gas range, all the conveniences to make your stay very pleasurable. Guest AccessEntire home. The NeighborhoodOur home is located in a family oriented neighborhood about a 1.5 miles from Fort Lewis College, Hillcrest Golf Club and a neighborhood park for the kids that include two tennis courts. Hiking and mountain biking trails are easily accessed from our front door and if you wish to drive a short distance there are numerous trails systems to explore including the famous Colorado Trail the runs from Denver to Durango. Durango is a famous Old West tourist town that features the Durango & Silverton narrow-gauge coal fired train that runs to the historic mining town of Silverton daily. Dont't forget the world class trout fishing on the Animas River that runs through town or the San Juan River just one hour away. Archaeological ruins of the ancient Puebloans are found throughout the region, highlighted by Mesa Verde National Park. Geologists in the family will be thrilled with 5 National parks to visit including: Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Bryce Canyon and The Grand Canyon. And don't forget, for a weekend there is always Santa Fe, New Mexico or Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Our three bedroom town house has a private yard and backs up to the San Juan Mountains with great views of the mountains and Narrow Gauge Railroad. You can view from the yard, Master bedroom balcony or climb the stairs behind the unit for up close pictures. Our renters say they meet every train when they are home. The unit sleeps 10 and is 2,100 sq. ft. with 3 story cathedral ceilings in the large great room and cathedral ceilings in each bedroom with fantastic mountain views in all directions. Sip your coffee and watch the sunrise on the deck in front or watch the sunset from the patio with gas grill while having dinner. The great room has TV, DVD, Stereo, wood burning fireplace (firewood provided), eating area for 8 with sliding doors to outdoor patio and wildlife watching. We have a resident deer family that will put on quite a show. The kitchen is furnished with EVERYTHING, spices, crock pot, coffee bean grinder, pantry, coolers. Second eating area for 6 off opposite side of kitchen, laundry room with W/D, soaking sink, garage, ski storage, ½ bath on first floor. Second floor has Master Bedroom with queen, private deck, master bath with 6x6 ft. Jacuzzi tubs., double sinks, TV, DVD. Second bedroom has queen and twin bed, TV, DVD with full bath tub and shower adjacent. We are pet friendly. We live just Ÿ mile down the road on the river so obviously think this is the place to be with easy access to town, ski area, outfitters, hiking, biking, and historical sites. We love to share our local knowledge of the best outfitters, what to see and do, where to relax, shop and where to eat. Give us the ages of your group, interest and we will make your Durango vacation the best it can be. So get your family and friends together and give us a call. Stay 7 nights and pay for 6, except holidays The Townhomes are located 10 miles from Durango and 13 miles from Durango Mountain/Purgatory resort. The unit is is easily accessed from Highway 550 (about 100 yards), and has a one car garage. Additional parking is available. There are only 10 units in The Pines with mountains in the back and a buffer in the front for a quiet stay.

      If you have not been to Durango before, you are in for quite a treat. Our two bedroom sleeps 6 and backs up to the San Juan Mountains with great views of the San Juan’s and the Narrow Gauge Railroad from a shared deck between the bedrooms. Wave to the Engineer and passengers and get some great pictures. We decorated the unit in a cowboy motif which renters love. The great room looks out on the gazebo and tennis court with a back drop of Missionary Ridge Mountain. A large great room has a wood burning stove, TV, DVD, Stereo ,commercial queen sofa bed , love seat, large chair & ottoman. The eating area seats 6 with sliding doors to second balcony and a gas grill. Adjacent is an extremely well furnished kitchen with an illuminated ceiling and everything down to the spices, coffee bean grinder and pantry. The laundry room off the hall to the Master bedroom has a front loading washer/Drier. The master bedroom suite has a queen bed, TV, DVD, balcony and bath with Jacuzzi tub. Second bedroom has a queen bed, balcony,and private access to a second bath. There is a heated garage for vehicle, ski storage, bike or motorcycle storage. We are pet friendly but dogs must be walked on leash and picked up after. We live just down the road on the river so we obviously think this is the spot to be with easy access to Durango downtown, ski area, many outfitters, biking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and area sites. As locals we love sharing our knowledge of the best outfitters, what and how to see our many treasures and where to relax, shop and eat. We love “happy Renters” and enjoy helping you plan your trip, depending on ages and interest, to make your Durango experience your best vacation. Stay 7 nights and pay for 6, except holidays Pine Acres is located 10 miles from Durango and 13 miles from Durango Mountain/Purgatory resort on highway 550 North. The unit is is easily accessed from Highway 550 (about 100 yards), and has both a one car garage and a carport. Additional parking is available. There are only 32 units in Pine Acres with mountains in the back and a buffer in the front for a quiet stay.

        Hermosa is just North of the City of Durango in the Animas river valley and is the perfect location for a great vacation. Hot springs, restaurants, grocery, etc. are all nearby. The area has a rural neighborhood feel with houses scattered about and lots of open space, forest and farmland. We live in a house on the North side of the 6.5 acre property and are available anytime if you need anything. The Cider House is a custom net-zero energy home that generates all the energy it uses. It was built with green and low VOC materials and paint throughout. The master bedroom has a luxurious pillow top king size bed and is connected to a master bathroom. Also upstairs there is another full bathroom, the 2nd bedroom with a queen bed, and the 3rd bedroom that can sleep up to five with two full beds (bunk) and a pull out twin trundle bed. This beautifully furnished smoke free house has a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops and bar, custom cabinets, high end appliances, coffee-maker, micro, toaster, large gas bar-b-q, etc. etc. It has everything you need to make a great meal. A high efficiency boiler provides In floor heat throughout the house. Additional bathroom heaters and south facing windows make this a warm, bright and comfortable home. The house has a large yard/orchard with beautiful mountain and cliff views. The covered porch with bar-b-q grill and seating opens to a large yard and orchard. In the yard you will find a horse shoe pit and ping pong table and chairs to sit under the trees. Cherries, peaches, apricots, apples, and plumbs are available to pick in season. Past the orchard and fields you will see the D&SNG Train pass by on its way to Silverton several times a day. The Cider House is just 2 miles from Trimble Hot Springs with pools, massage, and great outdoor space. Drive 2 miles North and you are at James Ranch, the #1 rated restaurant in the area where you can also buy vegetables, meat, eggs, and cheese fresh off the farm. For breakfast or lunch the Hermosa Creek Cafe is just a short walk away. There is also a nice local grocery and a liquor store a few minutes away. The house can sleep up to 9 in beds. There is queen sofa bed in the TV room that can be closed off via pocket doors from the living room if desired and a pac-n-play for the little ones. We often stay in vacation rentals and strive to make ours one of the best. The Cider House has an open floor plan, new furniture, high speed Wi-Fi Internet and a large library of 200+ movies. The shelves are stocked with area maps, guide books on hiking, biking, and area activities and historical books on the train and Durango history. It is the perfect location for outdoor fun and just short drive to Durango or Purgatory. We are local owners that live on the property a few houses away so you can be sure if you need anything or have any problems, we can accommodate your needs. We have 3 boys ages 11-13 that love making new friends, playing soccer, hide and seek, tag and other outdoor fun on the property. 8 Miles north of Durango, the house sits with other houses and has a rural neighborhood feel, homes are not close like in a town, but there are homes in the area around the Cider House. It has a huge yard/orchard on the porch side. Trimble Hot springs is just down the road for swimming and soaking. Hiking, biking, lakes, rivers, etc. are just minutes away from the house.

                The SpaceAs our nearly 200 positive reviews attest, Our Ranch is a great place to stay, but know that we cannot accommodate young children or pets (no exceptions), nor do we offer laundry or kitchen privileges. No reservation request will be considered without a complete Airbnb Profile, including the About Me section where you describe a bit about yourself; ID Verification alone is not enough. If that works for you, please read on... Our closest neighbor is 1/2 mile away so the view from every window is that of mountains, fields and forests. The sunny, south-facing bedroom windows are nearly floor to ceiling, so don't be surprised if you awake to a deer or bunny peeking in at you! We have plenty of space for parking multiple vehicles including trailers with easy turn-around access. Our Ranch has a private trail that weaves through the woods on which morning or evening strolls are great for spotting wildlife. For mountain bikers we're only a couple of miles from a public trailhead that leads to endless miles of riding. These same trails are open to horses, so if you're here to ride, we're where you want to be! Our dog Zeke, a lovable, yellow Labrador retriever, has never met an Airbnb guest he didn't love. He'll likely greet you with enthusiasm--but doesn't bark, lick, sniff, jump up or bother--he just wants to meet new friends! Horses are welcome to overnight at Our Ranch for an extra charge of $25 per horse per night (summer only): We have two, large irrigated pastures each with a pond and trees. We have easy trailer access and parking. We have a round pen, so your horse is ready for a quick get-away in the morning. Ginger rides extensively in the local mountains, so she can give you directions to many different trails. Jeremiah spent years working as a Park Ranger at Mesa Verde, Hovenweep, Canyonlands and Mt. Rainier National Parks, so if you're interested in visiting any of our nearby, world-class parks (and who wouldn't be?) he can answer your questions. Getting AroundWe're situated half-way between the DRO airport and downtown Durango. Driving time to either destination is 15 minutes, all on paved roads. Durango is full of great restaurants. There's no public transit from our location into town, but you can ride your bike to a bus-stop a couple of miles down the road (the bus carries bicycles or you can lock it up there). Taxis are available from the DRO airport to our place ($27), but you'll have to use your airbnb-provided directions to find us. We’re connected to the electrical grid (so there’s no need to worry about running out of juice), but all of our power comes from clean, renewable energy.                 The SpaceOur guest house is very cozy with a wood burning stove for the fall/winter months, and outdoor fire-pit and BBQ grill for enjoying spring and summer. The house consists of a living room, dining area, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and kitchen. Each bedroom has a full size bed and closet. Clean bed linens (sheets, blankets, pillows), iron, ironing board, and hangers provided. The bathroom has a stand up shower (no tub) and serves as a laundry as well with a stackable washer/dryer unit. Perfect for long vacations. We provide towels, hand towels, toilet paper, soap, and hair dryer. You will need to bring your own toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste,etc). The Kitchen has a fridge/freezer (ice trays provided), medium size stove/oven unit, microwave, and coffee pot. There are pots, pans, utensils, and dinnerware for 6 people. It is also stocked with some essentials: salt, pepper, other spices, olive oil, sugar, and foil. We just ask that you clean up after your meals, and do the dishes before you go. The living room has a wood burning fireplace (wood provided in the winter), dining room table that seats 4, and a futon sofa (queen size) that can fold to a bed, accommodating 2 more guests. There is no TV, however there is wifi for streaming if you bring a laptop and we provide a speaker system that plugs into an mp3/iphone/computer. There are also some local guide books to help you choose your adventure as well as some board games. There is a fenced in yard, so pets can be accommodated. However, pets needs to be discussed before the reservation is accepted and a extra $15/night (per pet) cleaning fee is required. This is a great place for that feeling of being in a rustic cabin out in the country, but with QUICK access to town and wifi! House DOES have a heat system in the living room, not just a wood burning stove. Pack and Play crib available on request. Guest AccessThe guest house and the main house share a fenced in yard. This yards has a fire pit and a BBQ grill (charcoal). Both are yours to enjoy. Have a cookout around the campfire, or just sit and roast marshmallows. Fenced yard is also where your pets can run around and play. Durango is a very scenic and outdoor mountain community. We are located close to 100s of hiking/biking trails, whitewater rafting, Durango Mountain Resort, Wolf Creek, Telluride, Mesa Verde National Park, great restaurants, lots of microbreweries, and the historical Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Please let us know if you need any help planning your trip. We know the area very well. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the 4 acre plot and can be available for questions or any issues, but we rarely see our guests if they do not prefer to. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is only 7 miles to downtown Durango, yet you feel like you are in the country. A great location for peace and quiet but still close enough to drive or get a quick taxi into town. Getting AroundNo public transportation except a trolly in town. A vehicle or taxi cab to and from town is necessary. Also, in the winter, 4 wheel drive is highly recommended. It can be difficult to get up our driveway with only 2 wheel in winter snowy weather. Other Things to NoteWe are pretty laid back and want you to enjoy your time. We are cannabis friendly, but do not allow in the house. In the winter, wood is provided for the fireplace and our kitchen is always stocked with the essentials.

There are numerous restaurants including my favorites: Tequila's (Mexican cuisine); The Himalayan (East Indian cuisine); Guido's (Italian cuisine); CJ's Cafe (Great for Breakfast, not open on Sundays); College Cafe (Great Breakfasts and is open on Sunday.)                 The SpaceThis apartment has been a labor of love for my wife and I and serves as our own weekend getaway from our jobs on the Navajo Reservation. It is lovingly appointed with favorite artwork and furnishings from the Southwest, giving it a personal touch. The views from the balcony of Animas City Mountain are classic Durango. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the apartment and condo facilities including remodeled gym and beautifully landscaped outdoor space with views of the San Juan Mountains. The outdoor space is equipped with a gazebo, bike racks and picnic tables with grills. Interaction with GuestsI am always available by phone or email if there are problems. However, we live about 3 hours away and you will only interact with us for instructions on getting the key and to answer other questions. The NeighborhoodThis condo is only a short bike ride to the Animas River Trail and is at the edge of town for easy access to the mountains and Durango Mountain Resort Ski Area. The location is also a great base for exploring other ski areas in the area (Telluride - 110mi, Wolf Creek - 84mi, Silverton Mountain - 54 miles). Durango also has world class rafting and kayaking outfitters, offering access to the rapids of the Animas, Piedra, Delores, San Juan, and San Miguel Rivers. Mesa Verde National Park is 30 minutes west of town. Of course, the famous and historic Durango and Silverton Railway is a year long favorite. The county road we are on is also a great starting point for road biking in the region. Getting AroundThe trolley stop is immediately out front of the building and operates until 10pm daily in the summer and until 7p Mon-Sat in the winter. Other Things to NoteDurango is an exciting town with more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, 5 breweries, great night life and world class outdoor recreation. The proximity to Fort Lewis College gives the town a great flare and diversity not found in other mountain towns. Please note that you have access to TV with DVD player only through the internet and apple TV. There is no cable. We have netflix, hbo, and showtime set up under our account. You can feel free setting up apple tv under your account to rent movies.

We are on the outskirts of Durango, yet a short 12 mile/ 20 minute drive to the town center. This charming, studio style guesthouse has everything you need for privacy, convenience and comfort, but you will need a car to access area attractions. The Adobe offers you dining in possibilities " just like home!" The fully stocked kitchen includes cookware, utensils, silverware, dishes, toaster, blender, stove, microwave,electric kettle, and a full size refrigerator/freezer. " You will also find condiments,spices, and a few staple items in the cupboards for the option of preparing your own meals. Our guests are also provided with ingredients for a self serve Continental Breakfast... Morning beverage choices include pekoe, green, or herbal teas. The drip coffee maker can be set to brew, or the french press is available for customized servings of coffee. Breakfast is SELF SERVE. We will provide light refreshment in the refrigerator for your continental breakfast- such as bread, bagels or English muffins, cream cheese, butter, and jam. The spacious bathroom has a walk-in shower and dressing area with a roomy closet. (Iron and ironing board are handy to freshen your clothes.) Dormers allow natural light, windows open to views of pasture and mountains. With so much space in the bath and dressing area, we added a comfortable chair and a lamp for quiet time apart from the main room. Your queen sized bed has a pillow top memory foam mattress. Tom's custom made twin size daybed provides an additional sleeping area. Enjoy a dvd from our guest library for viewing on a 32" flat screen .(We do NOT have tv /satellite service). In cooler weather, a cozy flame warms the room from the propane fireplace, adding a touch of convenience and ambiance, with thermostat settings for a comfortable temperature. SEASONAL OPTION If you'd like to sit outside and enjoy the beauty of sunrise and sunsets on the Mesa, we have outdoor seating for you right behind the Guesthouse. A barbecue grill is available for your use, by request. CHOOSING WHAT TO DO... There are beautiful places and scenery to enjoy on foot, motorcycle, a bicycle, or the back of a horse, and many events such as barrel racing and rodeo in this area. (We also have public indoor arenas for winter equestrian activities.) Durango is well known for excellent fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, zip lining, jeep and atv tours, skiing, and even dog sled tours in the winter!! How about Santa Fe or Taos? 4-5 hours..This is why the "4 Corners" of America is so unique--lots of choices! Durango LaPlata Airport- 12 miles away. Albuquerque Sun port is 4 1/2 hours drive by car...we are easy to get to! The Adobe Guesthouse is a one room studio style accommodation, with sleeping and dining area sharing the living space. Our main goal is comfortable for sleeping, and convenient for cooking. PLEASE NOTE: We must limit our guests to people and not pets. Although there are animals elsewhere on the property, we maintain a pet-free environment within the Adobe itself. NOTE ABOUT WIFI AND CELL RECEPTION IN THE 4 CORNERS: Cell reception has sometimes been described as "spotty" by guests who are enroute to various locations. Wifi may seem slow to visitors from urban areas..this is part of the "technical environment" of visitng and living in mountain and desert areas. People plan ahead when they are passing through wilderness areas, and sometimes, even here on site, internet runs slower than desired. There is a 20' wide driveway that separates the guesthouse from the side porch entrance to our other listing,the Aspen Suite. Our interaction with guests varies according to our work schedules, which are full time , and whatever your preferences are for privacy...sometimes there is a gathering at the table, sometimes a quick meet and greet. in passing, but always the hope that you will feel at home and comfortable. Because of our outside work, we may not be here when you arrive. We offer you a flexible "self check in" option, which is described in the welcome email sent to all of our guests. The NeighborhoodWe love the stars at night, the birds singing in the morning, and the wide open fields with horses and sometimes sheep along the Mesa. The road that we are situated on is conducive to a morning or evening stroll. Across the highway, there are county roads that lead down to the Animas River for serious runners or joggers! We also recommend the River Trail that follows the Animas River on both sides of Durango for about 9 miles, is paved, and user friendly for bicycles, joggers, and foot traffic. The River Trail has many access points throughout Durango, and also from the Santa Rita Park and Visitor Center. For delicious deli, bakery and natural food "grab and go" choices for your outdoor excursions, we recommend "Nature's Oasis" on Camino Del Rio, just alongside HWY 160 on your right as you approach the Santa Rita Park and Visitor Center. For Indoor dining, there is a restaurant guide in your accommodations to review menus, prices, and locations of our many local restaurants.Some feature ordering online to go- such as "Serious Texas BBQ", with locations at the north and south end of town. Getting AroundWe have plenty of onsite parking . You will need your own vehicle to explore the area. The Durango LaPlata Airport is 15 miles from the Guesthouse-with rentals from National, Alamo, Hertz, and Enterprise. Other Things to NoteIt is our hope that if you use the kitchen for cooking, you will show us the courtesy of cleaning your own dishes and putting away or disposing of food.Please wipe up grease or spills. Aluminum foil is in the cupboard to line pans for easier clean up of broiler pans and baking sheets. Recycling is encouraged- feel free to separate your items of glass, plastic, and cans that are recyclable from other trash. We'll take care of getting it to the recycling center. There is a smaller waste basket under the kitchen sink that is especially for recycling. Getting AroundFlorida road hosts local trolly, bike lane and bike path for easy access to downtown. Very close to 550 and Northbound adventures including Purgatory and Silverton. Other Things to Note Women or couples preferred. There is one free parking space designated for you. We get up early on weekdays to get ready for school and work; I work in an elementary school so I leave by 7:15-the house is all to you after that! Weekends, quiet mornings until 9 are appreciated.
