The SpaceFool's Gold is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage on Snyder Mountain 8700 feet up. It's a sunny south facing hacienda with a deck and scenic mountain views that overlooks protected BLM land making wildlife viewing incredible. Fool's Gold Cottage is located near the border of Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties, convenient to many outdoor activities including: rafting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, running, mountaineering, mountain climbing, zip lining, elite athletic training, and hunting just to name a few. If you want to visit Denver, it's only a 50 minute drive. There are also plenty of trails right by the cottage. Fool's Gold was built in the 1980s. Her sister, The Gold Mine, the home we currently live in 150 feet from Fool's Gold, was built in the early 1970s and was the first house in the area. The paperwork we have on the home has President Grover Cleveland's signature on it when he signed the land over to be developed! Another fun fact, the former kitchen is featured in the Netflix horror movie, Paramedics! When Fool's Gold was built, it was basically a framed house with water, a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower pan, sink and toilet, and electricity. There was not any drywall or flooring. I used her for a while as my office until a neck injury prevented me for continuing that line of work. We have worked hard over the last ten years to get her ready for others to enjoy. We are currently remodeling The Gold Mine, our current house, who will become a prospective vacation rental the end of 2016. The roads to Fool's Gold are paved until you reach our subdivision. There is less than one mile of dirt roads to the cottage itself. Front wheel drive cars do just fine up here and the roads are well maintained. Rear wheel drive cars, some sports cars, and many Volkswagen brand cars do not do well up here. There are not any street lights in the neighborhood and many of the driveways are steep. We keep the driveways and walkways plowed and shoveled and provide ice melt for guests. *Because we live in Alpine conditions, please make sure that the cottage would be suitable for your family if you have children under the age of six, are elderly, or have a physical disability.* Up to one dog (two dogs with approval) is allowed on the property. We do have dogs on the property and they are in a separate fenced in area and we are very respectful in terms of barking, etc. We hope you stay with us and become a part of the Mile and a Half High Club! Tracey Smith - Property Manager *PRICING INCLUDES TAX. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM ON THE WEEKEND* Guest AccessDetailed directions and access instructions are provided to guests via email one week prior to check-in. Interaction with GuestsAs owners and property managers, we currently live in The Gold Mine; when guest visit, we remain as elusive as possible so the cottage feels like their home away from home. Since we are remodeling The Gold Mine, the only time we would ever interact or see each other is if we are outside at the same time, or if you need us for any reason. We are adding additional privacy barriers between the rentals throughout the summers. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is very quiet and serene and provides nice views should you go for a walk. Getting AroundA car or taxi is the only way to get around in this area. Buses to other areas, like Denver, are available on Highway 74 about 6 miles away from the cottage. Please go to RTD Denver for bus schedules. Other Things to NoteAll of our rentals include fresh eggs from Lazy Girl Farms here in Evergreen! We also provide condiments, tea, coffee, cream and hot chocolate. Satellite TV includes HBO, Showtime,Starz, and Encore along with 250 other channels.

Fishing in the local streams and lake is always a treat for those inclined. An inexpensive but challenging public 18 hole golf course is just a short walk away and a world class private club less than 10 minute further. Tailings is currently being remodeled, so what you see in the pictures will change. **Because the studio is located in Alpine conditions, please make sure that it would be suitable for your stay if you have a child under the age of six, are elderly, or have a physical disability.** No more than two occupants and no pets. Two night minimum stay. Same day rate if available is $55/night. All rates include tax. WiFi is available in the studio - up to 20 mps Guest AccessOwn separate access with off street parking. During heavy snow, the worse case scenario is you may have to park at the top of the driveway and walk 50 yards up and down the driveway. The owners do plow the driveway when it is 3+ inches, but some times they cannot keep up with mother nature. Interaction with GuestsMost guests come to the mountains to get away, so the owners do very little interaction with their guests while offering a friendly, quiet, and inviting atmosphere. If any issues come up, they are on the matter right away. The NeighborhoodTailings is located in a mountain neighborhood and each home in the neighborhood sits on two acres covered with pine and aspen trees so neighbors are not noticeable, but you are still able to see the mountain views. Hiking in the neighborhood offers scenic views as well. Getting AroundThe studio is not close to any public transportation. Four wheel or all wheel drive cars are recommended as their is about 1/2 mile of dirt road to the studio and steep roads; however, front wheel drive cars do fine up here and the roads are well maintained in the winter. Rear wheel or Volkswagen brands are not recommended during the winter. Directions on the flattest way to get to Tailings to avoid steep hills are provided for guests.

The SpaceThis is a wonderfully clean 430 sq ft studio above our detached garage. A comfy queen sized bed (with plush feather bed and down comforters) ensure a great night sleep. This, coupled with room darkening curtains and a huge wood burning stove guarantee a cozy and restful stay. Wireless internet is provided. At this time, we do not have a TV in the studio. If you want to watch movies feel free to bring your computer. Kitchenette includes plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and silverware for 2 guests (other standard utensils included: wine opener, can opener, spatula, knife, ice cream scooper). There is a microwave, toaster oven and midsize refrigerator with small freezer. A coffee maker and coffee are provided (as well as an assortment of tasty teas). The bathroom has a shower, toilet and large utility sink which is the only water source/sink in the studio. Bed sheets, bath towels, soap and shampoo are provided. There is a private deck that overlooks our treed property that begs for you to relax and have a cup of joe. Almost daily we are privileged to be visited by numerous deer and (depending on the time of year) elk. We provide a few pairs of slippers as we ask that people remove their shoes when inside. Most of the space has tile floor that can feel quite chilly on your feet without slippers. You may want to bring your own slippers if you don't wish to wear communal ones. Guest AccessThe studio is not attached to our house, so there are no feelings of intrusion. A flight of stairs leads up to the door. There is one guest parking space in our driveway. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the main house so we are sure to be intermittently available to answer questions and give recommendations on local highlights. We have a very friendly and docile 8 year old golden retriever that may greet you with a stuffed animal in her mouth. We also have 2 young boys that love the outdoors and are often adventuring around in the yard. Rest assured, even though we live on the property the studio offers a lot of privacy to those that are seeking solitude. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is located directly next to Alderfer/Three Sisters park, which is a 750acre open space, with excellent single track trails for hiking and mountain biking. Within a 10 minute drive there are multiple other open spaces available with their own network of trails. We are a 5 minute drive from Evergreen Lake (stand up paddle board rentals offered in the summer and ice skating rentals in the winter). Just below the lake sits historic downtown Evergreen that offers multiple restaurants, bars, art galleries, ice cream shops and breweries. It takes 17 minutes to get to I-70 and, without traffic, an hour to get to the airport or, in the other direction, Summit County ski resorts. Getting AroundYou will need your own vehicle as public transportation is not easily accessible. Other Things to NoteThe main heating source for the studio is a powerful wood burning stove. There is no central electric heat. We have a small space heater that we keep in the bathroom. The wood stove is big enough to heat a 2000 sq ft house. One evening fire produces enough heat to last thru the night. We will make sure that all fire making supplies are readily available. In addition, if we are available, we will start a fire for you before you arrive as a courtesy.

The SpaceStep out of your room into the lovely octagonal family room with 5-Picture Windows worth of breathtaking views - 360 degrees surrounding snow capped mountains, its warming gas fireplace is perfect for the chilly evenings together. 55" TV includes NetFlix, if you just want to kick back and relax. Our guests rave about the Massage Chair too. You're also just two miles away from the best dog park in the country, with over 200 acres of off-leash beauty for you and your best friend (or borrow ours!) to hike. Or cross the road to Elk Meadow Park, aptly named because if you're there early in the morning or at dusk, you'll be treated to hundreds of elk leisurely grazing, for a beautiful hike through the park, or up the mountain to Bergen Peak, one of our moderately challenging climbs. Bring enough of water with you, and you'll be rewarded when you get to the top. Charming “downtown" historic Evergreen is a quick 10 minute drive from the house. First settled in 1859, downtown retains much of its old, wild west charm. Dining options abound as well as wonderful & unique shopping, music, art galleries, and nightlife. The famed Little Bear Saloon in downtown is always a great spot to catch good music, as is the Muddy Buck for great coffee and live music on Thursday nights. The world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater is a beautiful 20 minute ride away down "the canyon road", or Rte. 74, and besides being a great place for a concert, it's stupendously gorgeous, and one of the greatest places for hiking. If you're really up for a heart-thumping workout, you can join the Red Rocks Bootcamp group, bright and early Saturday morning at 7:00. The famous Evergreen Lake is a two minute walk out of town and offers a day's worth of activities, regardless of the season. In winter there's ice skating, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing. The lake was voted one of the “top ten most beautiful skating rinks in the world" by CNN. And if you're here over New Year's, you definitely won't want to miss the celebration on the lake with roasting marshmallows by firelight, ice thrones, and a falling ice star accompanied by a fantastic fireworks display at midnight. And we'll always have a pot of hot spiced cider and cookies at the ready in the colder months. And don't forget the world-class skiing an hour or less away from our door - Breckenridge, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone!!! And an hour further from Breck you come to the amazing slopes of Vail and Beaver Creek!! What more can you ask for - back and forth in a day!! In the summer, you can enjoy fishing, sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing, and more. If that sounds right up your alley you can rent boats, kayaks or paddle boards at the lake (or paddle boards right down the street next door to Big R). There's also a summer music festival, with free music on the lake on Wednesday nights. And depending upon when you're here we've got the Evergreen Bluegrass Festival, Evergreen Jazz Festival, almost weekly Music at Myers Ranch Concerts, almost famous Evergreen Rodeo over Fathers' Day weekend, wonderful local theatre...and NOW - TWO wonderful craft brewers, right here in Evergreen - Lariat Lodge Brewing Co. and El Rancho!! The Evergreen Golf Course is next to the lake, offering an inexpensive but challenging 18-hole course. 14,265-foot Mount Evans is a short drive away – and visible from the house! - offering the opportunity to hike a 14-er (or drive up North America's highest paved road!), rock climb, ice climb, or just enjoy the alpine beauty of Colorado. There's no shortage of outdoor activities around Evergreen. Cycling – both road and mountain – is incredible and right out the door. Skiing and summer exploring is close at hand as well; we're 8 minutes from I-70, which provides quick access to Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Summit County, and Winter Park ski resorts. Or Denver, just 25 minutes down the hill! There is never a shortage of things to do here in Evergreen - it just depends on your mood, energy level, season and weather. Just about every weekend has some sort of theatre offering from the Evergreen Players, Stage Door Theatre, Evergreen Chorale, or a surprise at Center Stage. You may luck out and be here during the Evergreen Jazz Festival, one of our many Wine Festivals, SummerFest, Music at Myers Ranch (held weekly throughout the summer), Barbecues at "the Ranch", the Annual Evergreen Rodeo & Parade always held on Father's Day weekend, zip lining in nearby Conifer (the longest zipline in CO!), a brewery tour at Coors 20 minutes away in Golden - and hundreds of breathtakingly gorgeous hiking and and biking trails. If you love beautiful hiking don't miss Staunton State Park, one of the country's newest State Parks, opened May, 2013, just west of Conifer (actually in Pine). Think mini - Yosemite. Or just relax on your own mountain deck and watch the blue jays, swifts & magpies! Guest AccessUpon your arrival you'll be met by a plate of freshly baked pastries*, bottled water and a bottle of wine (for 2+ night stays). If you've brought along some munchies, there's a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, griddle, coffee maker & coffee, electric burner, and an electric tea kettle & of course, tea for your pleasure. *Sorry, we can't accommodate vegan diets/pastries. ======================================================== PLEASE NOTE: We are dog friendly, but should any guest arrive with a dog that has NOT BEEN PRE-ARRANGED FOR there will be a $50.00 penalty levied upon arrival, plus a $35 per night dog fee charged, both of which must be paid upon arrival. Should the dog weigh more than 30 lb. we reserve the right to turn away the guest, with no refund offered for their stay. ======================================================== Interaction with GuestsBert and I are available to provide guests with suggestions on fabulous places to hike, bike, site see, the best restaurants, where to view elk and deer or where to just chill out and get some terrific local brews and listen to some great local bands. The NeighborhoodThis is a pretty quiet neighborhood, with only 4 houses on our street. It is a wonderful place to take a walk early in the morning, or at dusk, when you are most likely to run into our most populous neighbors - the elk and deer, and the occassional red fox. They're beautiful, majestic and look harmless. But it's not advisable to try to pet - or feed them. This was their neighborhood first. So we always respect them and their turf. If you're driving, please drive slowly. Sometimes they pop up in the most surprising places...like the 6-point bull elk who was standing right in the middle of our driveway waiting for us to come home. Foxes are frequent visitors. They're beautiful, look like big dogs, and tend to dart in front of cars, so just look out for them. Oh, and do resist the urge to pet them. Getting AroundWe are in the foothills/mountains and having a car at your disposal is really the best way to get around. That being said, the RTD and light rail system are terrific and can get you pretty much all over Evergreen and Denver...BUT you have to get to the bus. You can catch it at the corner of Stagecoach and Evergreen Parkway (3.2 miles from our door). If you want to explore Denver, Boulder and points beyond but don't want to drive, the Golden terminal station for the Light Rail is about a 20-minute drive, right down the hill (straight down I-70). It's really simple and a great way to travel (and you don't have to worry about parking your car!) If I'm around, I'd be happy to show you around our beautiful town! Other Things to NoteIf you are bringing a car or bike, don't fret! We have plenty of parking available. We're happy to have you bring your well-behaved, house-broken dog with you. * There is a pet fee of $10 per night for dogs up to 20 lbs; $15 per night for dogs 20-45 lbs. We may not accept dogs above 45 lbs. Please call so special arrangements may be made. * ======================================================== PLEASE NOTE: We are dog friendly but, should any guest arrive with a dog that has NOT BEEN PRE-ARRANGED FOR there will be a $50.00 penalty levied upon arrival, plus a $35 per night dog fee charged, both of which must be paid upon arrival. Welcome to our Next to Nothing, Close to Everything , Rocky Mountain Home in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado! When we were searching for our dream home in beautiful Evergreen, Colorado, we were sold, the second we climbed the stairs into the main living area and set eyes on the view. The sweeping vista is framed by the softly swaying green-tipped branches on the trees that give way to the magnificent sight huge granite outcroppings, snow-capped mountains, and bright blue skies as far as the eye can see. We were instantly mesmerized, a feeling our guests report experiencing themselves time and time again. Here you can rest, relax, and breathe deep, knowing all you need in order to enjoy yourself is the key! Also available, is the unique guesthouse: an open-loft bedroom upstairs provides additional square footage and an overall airiness, mimicking the breathtaking altitude outside. From the walls to the ceiling to the bathroom, everything is custom. This is heaven with a hot tub, and you're invited. In June 2012 we received the first ever short-term rental permit ever issued in Jefferson County. It was a difficult permit to attain, but we managed it, and we work hard to maintain the necessary requirements to keep the permit in effect. To date, there are still only 2 legal short-term rentals in all of Jefferson County! The house, which sits on a sprawling 4+acre estate, measures over 2200 square feet. : • 3 bedrooms, including a master with a king bed and en-suite bath & flat screen TV, guest room with queen bed, Kid's room with full and twin bunk bed plus a sleeping loft with queen bed • 2 ½ bathrooms • A fully-equipped kitchen • Dining room - table for 10, plus 3 barstools at the breakfast bar • Living room - open to dining and kitchen • Loft - a separate living space filled with a TV, games, and music options • Laundry room • Hot tub • A breathtaking view of the sun rising and setting over the surrounding mountains! The main floor features an open-concept design, with the kitchen, dining, and living room areas all connected to allow friends and family to gather and enjoy each other's company. Also on the main floor is the master suite, laundry room, powder room, and a huge deck with dining table, overlooking the mountains. Part of the home's charm is it's feeling of tranquility and privacy – you can't see any other homes from your perch on the deck, except for those on other mountains, far in the distance – but you're still close enough to town (about 3 miles) to conveniently attend to grocery stores, shopping or dining at one of the nearby restaurants. This unique location allows a blend of solitude and opportunities for socialization, making it perfect for most any family, group, or other fun-filled getaway. The outdoor area surrounding the physical property is every bit as enthralling as house itself. The house sits on 4+ acres and abuts parkland that totals over 1100 acres of gloriously untamed wilderness. One of our favorite things to do is just sit on the deck and relax. It's easy to forget your cares when you feel the pine-scented wind softly ruffling your hair as the sun lazily drifts through the clear, blue sky. The sights and sounds here are second to none, with critters of all shapes, sizes, and colors coming and going as they please. We have elk, deer, chipmunks, fox, and all kinds of birds. In September 2012 we saw a mama bear and her two cubs crossing the road, coming home downtown from Evergreen. Hot tub aficionados take note: while drinking in your share of the cool mountain air, you may be visited by Fox E. Brown. Our resident friendly fox has kept us company through a few hot tub excursions and beautiful sunsets, grooming himself from his perch on the rocky outcrop that juts out over the tub as we soaked. Don't worry, he never jumps in! While most people think of mountain destinations like Evergreen as a seasonal experience, there are so many things to do and places to go within a short distance that Colorado Dream Vacation is truly is a year-round destination. Summer time is a great time for fishing, hiking, bike riding, checking out local festivals and mountain parks. Kids have a great time at Dinosaur Ridge, or Heritage Square in Golden! The zoo in Denver is phenomenal too! Right around Evergreen, there's canoeing, paddle boats, and tons of walking/hiking trails in Evergreen and the Lake. In the fall, don't miss the Aspens and the leaves turning to the fire neon gold! Absolutely stunning! There are so many great roads with outstanding scenery to take short trips, up to a full day trip, returning to Colorado Dream Vacation, and the warmth of the hot tub, with the view! Here you can rest, relax, and breathe deep, knowing all you need in order to enjoy yourself is the key! The only other homes you'll see, are on other mountains, not next door!!! The house, over 2200 square feet, sits on a sprawling 4.25+acre estate, joined by over 1100 acres of park land : 3 bedrooms, including a master with a king bed and en-suite bath & flat screen TV, guest room with queen bed, Kid's room with queen bed plus a sleeping loft with queen bed 2 ½ bathrooms A fully-equipped kitchen Dining room - table for 10, plus 3 barstools at the breakfast bar Living room - open to dining and kitchen - flat screen TV Loft - a second living space- Sleeper Sofa, flat screen TV, games, and music Laundry room Hot tub A private breathtaking view of the sun rising and setting over the surrounding mountains! Also available, for extra charge, is the unique Guesthouse: an open-loft bedroom upstairs, with a King Bed, provides additional square footage and an overall airiness, mimicking the breathtaking altitude outside. The living area of the guesthouse offers a queen sleeper sofa. From the walls to the ceiling to the bathroom, everything is custom. The calendar does not necessarily indicate occupancy for the Guesthouse, so call or inquire! The guesthouse is heaven with it's own private hot tub, and you're invited. The outdoor area surrounding the physical property is every bit as enthralling as house and guesthouse. While most people think of mountain destinations like Evergreen as a seasonal experience, there are so many things to do and places to go within a short distance that Colorado Dream Vacation™ is truly is a year-round destination. Summer time is a great time for fishing, hiking, bike riding, checking out local festivals and mountain parks. Kids have a great time at Dinosaur Ridge, or Heritage Square in Golden! Heritage Square Amusement Park in Golden is about 25 minutes away and has a 220 ft double zip line, go karts, boats, golf, an arcade, and rides including a ferris wheel and tilt-a-whirl, and all kinds of fun things to do! There are so many great roads with outstanding scenery to take short trips, up to a full day trip, returning to Colorado Dream Vacation™, and the warmth of the hot tub, with the view! Winter, of course, is skiing for the whole family, about an hour away in Breckenridge, A Basin, Keystone or Winter Park. Nearby Echo Mountain caters to snow boarders, and there's always old fashion sledding on the property. Evergreen Lake is so close and there's still so much to enjoy there! Ice fishing, ice skating, hockey, along with of course snow men, and snow fish, and whatever you can imagine making! Spring brings snow melt, which is a great time for white water rafting! Spring is beautiful with the spring flowers, and the smell of newness in the air! Horseback riding is great fun virtually all year long, and indoor swimming is at Wulf Recreation Center in Evergreen. Don't forget how close we are to downtown Denver too! Professional hockey, football, and baseball are 30-40 minutes away! Red Rocks Ampitheater is about 20 minutes away with a history of world class musicians taking the stage. Don't miss the view of Denver from here, or the museum that in the lower level-it's amazing! I could go on and on about all the great things there are to see and do in the area, so close to the house and cabin, yet you'll feel a world away, when you get home from the day's activities, slip into the hot tub, with a beverage of your choice, watching the sun go down! In June 2012 we received the first short-term rental permit issued in Jefferson County. It was a difficult permit to attain, but we managed it, and we work hard to maintain the necessary requirements to keep the permit in effect. To date, there are still only 4 legal short-term rentals in all of Jefferson County, only 2 in Evergreen. We are the only one within 5 minutes of downtown Evergreen and the Lake House! If in doubt, ask for a copy of the permit! Ask us, and ask others! You'll be surprised how many are illegal! Illegal operators can be shut down at any time. Don't risk your valuable vacation, time, and money! Beds: 1 King Bed, 2 Queen Beds, 1 Double Bed, 1 Twin Bed, 1 Sofa Bed, 1 Crib

Deer and elk can pass through! Guest AccessThe whole main house is offered to rent. We will also come in to to make breakfast in the morning! We stay in detached master suite which sits above the 3 car garage and is separate from the house. The NeighborhoodVery quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Not on main road. No traffic. Right next to historic brook forest inn, restaurant/bar as well as 1 mile to lower maxwell falls trailhead! 4 wheel drive or SUV is not needed to get to our house during end of spring, summer and fall. If you are coming January-April it might be a good to have at least an all wheel car. The road is paved all the way to our street, and then it is a very easy short drive on a dirt road to get to our property. The road leading up there from Evergreen is also a school bus route and is well taken care of during the winter! Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around. Other Things to NoteVerizon has the best cell service at our house, but most carriers will have a little service. Wifi works great! Comcast cable includes HBO, STARZ, Encore. Breakfast is included and is ordered off a menu the night before with things like made from scratch biscuits and gravy, country style eggs with toast and choice of bacon or sausage all served with orange juice and coffee!! We also have two amazing dogs. One is Mia and she is a 9 year old sweet, beautiful malamute. During the winter you can find her laying outside in the snow. We also have Jack, a border collie who at 10 years old seems to never stop licking! While they do not go inside the main house during your stay (unless you want them to!) you will see them around outside sniffing and being dogs as we let them out to go. Feel free to say hi as they are extremely friendly and love kids! We also have two cats. One is Steve and he lives with us in our detached master suite. Steve was added to the family in November of 2015 at 2 months old. The other is Josie. She is a 7 year old, short haired tabby cat who lives in the main part of the house. Josie is a sweetheart, stays to herself and sleeps in her bed under the couch. She also never goes into any of the guests bedrooms as we always keep them closed :-)

Also available, is the unique Guesthouse: an open-loft bedroom upstairs, with a King Bed, provides additional square footage and an overall airiness, mimicking the breathtaking altitude outside. The living area of the guesthouse offers a queen sleeper sofa. From the walls to the ceiling to the bathroom, everything is custom. The calendar does not necessarily indicate occupancy for the Guesthouse, so call or inquire! The guesthouse is heaven with a hot tub, and you're invited. The outdoor area surrounding the physical property is every bit as enthralling as house and guesthouse.
