The SpaceOver the years, I have collected fun flea market finds from my international travels to local junk stores. Our house is definitely not catalog material but we appreciate the unique and eclectic feel and we hope that you do too. Guest AccessFeel free to enter through the front door and spend time out on our back porch, when weather permits. The guest room, kitchen and guest bathroom are upstairs on the main floor. We do have a gear room and a garage where you can store any of your outdoor adventure gear when staying with us so just let us know what your needs are so we can prepare in advance. Help yourself to tea, coffee or any of the snacks we have out in the basket. If you need to put any food or drinks in the fridge, feel free. Interaction with GuestsFor the most part, we are a quiet, peaceful and adventurous couple that goes to bed at a reasonable time. This next summer, we will have chickens and a garden so you can expect us to be in and out and around. We love sharing good convo and coffee in the morning and are happy to give recommendations to local restaurants and hidden gem adventures. We do work varied schedules and depart the house around 8 am most week days. On our days off, we are usually playing somewhere in the mountains or the high desert. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is safe and right outside of downtown Rifle. We back up to open space but do have a neighbors on our west and South side. Overall it's a very quiet street also known as Sunset Point because of our beautiful views from being up on the hill. One block to the north, we have the Morrow Draw path which is a nice, quiet and wooded 3/4 mile walking trail.
We do love the BrickYard Pizza house for fresh salads, pizza, pasta and Calzones. In addition, we recommend the Whistle Pig for coffee, pastries and breakfast sandwiches to eat in house or to go.
In the surrounding areas of Rifle, we have fun and challenging mountain biking, a hike to an arch (the Rifle Arch), a golf course, The Rifle Gap, Fish Hatchery, Ice caves in the winter, National Forest access, Moto trails, a shooting range, world class rock climbing, back country skiing and the Rifle State Park. Getting AroundOur town is small and easy to navigate via car, walking or cycling. In addition, we are 4 minutes from I-70 by car and we are only 4 blocks from the RFTA bus stop which takes you from Rifle all the way to Aspen. Other Things to NoteWe do have two dogs and a cat so our house is open to animal lovers and those with no pet allergies. Our older dog can be finicky (bark at you until she trusts you) with certain people, why? I am not sure. If you are not a confident dog person, this may not be a good match for you.
We pride ourselves in being tidy but we are definitely not spotless. We do recycle. We try our best to be environmentally conscious as often as possible.
