The SpaceThis unique home perched on the waters edge can comfortably sleep five. Guests have two private waterfront decks overlooking a garden with firepit and seating for four. The first floor deck has two loungers and a dining table that seats six. The third floor deck has two comfortable adirondeck chairs looking out over the water and enjoys views of the abundant wildlife of Farm Creek, a protected preserve. The view from the third floor is exceptional and our favorite place on the property. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee, evening cocktail, or sit with a laptop or tablet to work or hop on the internet. There is cable television in the living room and each bedroom and also air conditioning and wifi throughout the grounds. We usually see about two tide changes per day and at high tide you can launch one of our two kayaks or a paddle board right off the back deck. We live here year round but we feel like we are constantly on vacation : ) Another notable aspect of the property is a private courtyard between the house and the garage. The entire property is fenced in at the front of the house too, so it's set up to allow your dog to roam freely without worrying they will get into the street. The first floor is an open format and very family friendly as you can always have your eyes on your little ones. The kitchen was updated with brand new appliances only two years ago and is perfect for the home chef. From the kitchen island you can look out onto Farm Creek and enjoy the water view at high tide or sunset in the evening. What we find most appealing about the property is the location. We are a short 1-2 minute walk from two beautiful private beaches on the Long Island Sound. Our favorite is East Beach, which looks out over a mooring field and onto nearby Tavern Island and Sheffield Island. Both islands are navigable by kayak or paddle board if you are willing to expend some effort and get a good workout in! Another great aspect of the location is a large private park a couple hundred yards from our front door. The park has a backstop and some benches along the water and is a perfect place to take your kids or your morning coffee...or espresso from our Nespresso esspresso maker! Then there is Rocky Point, a truly magnificent private park about a five minute walk from our front door. The park juts out into the sound and on a clear day you will enjoy exceptional views of Long Island and the NYC skyline about 35 miles away. As for the general accommodations, the master bedroom on the 2nd floor has a queen bed for two. The space can accommodate a crib at the foot of the bed but a crib would also fit in the master bathroom which is quite large, about 12ft x 8ft, and only steps from the bed. The third floor has another queen bed and a single bed and there is an aero mattress in the closet should you need it. We've also had guests sleep on our couch in the living room, which is deep enough one might refer to it as more of a daybed than a couch. So all in, the house can comfortably accommodate five people; two in the master queen, two in the 3rd floor queen, and then one more in the 3rd floor single bed. But if you needed to, you could fit two more on the aero bed and another on the couch in the living room. From NYC, our house is about a one hour train ride on the New Haven train line out of Grand Central Station. Guest AccessOur guests enjoy access to three bicycles, two kayaks, two paddle boards, and access to two private beaches on Long Island Sound. The house has two full baths (one off the master and one in the 2nd foor hallway) and and two half baths, (one on the first floor off the living room and one on the third floor). The back patio has a large three burner grill and is an incredible atmosphere for a BBQ. Interaction with GuestsHow much we interact with you is up to you. You can reach us if you have questions but our goal is to truly let you enjoy the comfort of your temporary home. The NeighborhoodWe live in a private association called Bell Island. We are surrounded by incredible views of Long Island Sound and Farm Creek Preserve and our beaches are reserved for use by residents and their guests only, so you never have to worry about crowds. Getting AroundThere is not public transit but taxi's are available and parking is included with your stay (up to four cars). The best way to get here from the airport is a taxi or rental car. As for local transportation, a bicycle or kayak is the best way to get around and explore the area, and we have three bikes, two kayaks, and a paddle board that you are free to use. You can also easily walk to main street where there is an ice cream parlor, a country market, post office, hardware store, pizza shop, and two incredible restaurants. Other Things to NoteThe private deck faces west and we think the sunset from the deck is one of the best in the world : )

The SpaceBedroom in main house with en suite bath in turn of the century Victorian home. Two queen beds and sleeping loft, bathroom and small living space in renovated barn which we call “The Farmhouse” (hopefully available after 1 September 2016). Full cottage adjoining the property with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, lovely living area and fully appointed kitchen with private outdoor patio. Guest AccessWhen using the Main House or The Farmhouse, guests have made use of our kitchen and living spaces with prior arrangements. The cottage is self contained and fully private. Interaction with GuestsGuests will be personally welcomed with a snack, lemonade, tea or a glass of wine. Our practice is to offer privacy and to make ourselves available when needed. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is part of a charming New England beach town. Restaurants and small shops are within walking distance. The Saugatuck is right across the street and we often suggest a morning stroll up the river with an expansive view of Long Island Sound. Entrance to the local beach can be arranged by the host and maps and directions to nearby sights and adventures are available. It is a 45 minute train ride into New York City by Metro North from both Darien and Rowayton. Getting AroundYou can walk into the picturesque village where there are a number of restaurants, a gallery, wine shop and a small bit of shopping available. There is ample parking on our property and it is a 15 minute walk to the Metro North train station which travels both North and South from here. (It's a 45 minute ride into NYC.) Other Things to NoteDue to higher guest volume in the summertime, from the dates of August 1st - September 2nd the cleaning fee is $100 per reservation.

    The SpaceThis house is ideally located within walking distance of town and biking distance to one of the nicest beaches in the area. Close to Rowayton, it really offers the best of all worlds and is only 50 minutes from Manhattan. Quaint shops and great restaurants are a stone's throw away. Quiet neighborhood and private roads.     The SpaceThe house has a huge yard and lots of lounge chairs for lounging by the pool. You can take a walk through quiet neighborhoods or go into town, where there is the infamous Rowayton Seafood, Rowayton Pizza, and other options. The busy and popular area of SoNo is just a few miles away. You will find it to be a nice escape from the city or an easy commute into the city. *In the winter the view is restricted by boat storage. The pool is also closed. Guest AccessAlong with your room, you can certainly enjoy the pool and back yard. Pets are welcome on an individual basis and at an extra charge. They must get along with my 3 dogs. Interaction with GuestsI am indepandant and often have a busy schedule. I value my privacy and will honor yours. I will certainly be more than happy to help with recommendations or ideas of what to do whenever I can. The NeighborhoodTotal privacy! No neighbors for a mile both ways! Getting AroundWe are a 5 minute drive from metro north, but there is no public transportation from there. You would need to rent a car or take a cab. For a few I could arrange a pick up. Interaction with GuestsI try to let my guests set that tone. I prefer to stay out of guests space and allow for their privacy, but do see them in the shared driveway as we each come and go. The NeighborhoodBeautiful neighborhood, lovely end scenic. Great for walks to the beach and town. Close to 95 and town. Easy to get to restaurants and shopping- major malls and stores in larger cities of Norwalk and Stamford but not a lot of traffic and congestion locally. Very cute and unique town and neighborhood! Getting AroundBus system runs by very close to the house and the Metro North train station is 2 mins away. Other Things to NoteThe library is brand new and within walking distance. It has a tech center with the latest 3d printers and many other unique technology for patron use. Must see!

    The SpaceYou are renting the entire house. There is an apartment over the garage that will be kept open for the owner's use when needed. Guest AccessThe entire home, including decks, porch and yard. You have access to 2 private beaches within the association. Interaction with GuestsOwner will be available by phone and email when needed. The NeighborhoodBell Island is a private association located in Rowayton. Bell Island offers 2 sandy beaches, several parks including one with a playground suitable for small children and Rocky Point which is a gorgeous spot to sit or fish for stripers or bluefish during season. Rowayton is a picturesque village, and the Rowayton Civic Association hosts a variety of activities and events throughout town during the year. You will find a calendar listed on their website. This homes is perfect for family reunions, or group getaways. It is family friendly and relaxing. Getting AroundA car is recommended. There is off street parking for 3-4 cars at the house. The center of town, with a market, post office, hardware store, seafood market and two restaurants is a short walk or bike ride from the house. South Norwalk (SoNo) and Darien offer a variety of restaurants, shops, nightclubs and movies. The Maritime Aquarium and Stepping Stones Museum for Children are both a 10 minutes drive away in SoNo. Uber cars are readily available if you choose to not drive.

Close to supermarkets, restaurants. 10 minute drive to downtown Stamford. Getting AroundPrivate driveway for parking (no more than 2 cars). Metro North train station 2 miles away. Other Things to NoteNo smoking in the house. No animals. Only 3 people max allowed in the house at all times.

    The SpaceThe main floor is open with oversized professional-grade kitchen for all you foodies. We like to cook and to entertain so our kitchen is the main focal point with top-grade appliances and a professional feel to it. But we love our other spaces too - the back wall of the house opens up completely letting you slip from indoors to outdoors seamlessly. We love sharing sunset cocktails and snacks with our neighbors on our front porch. And morning coffee out on the back deck or the firepit as the sun starts to the light up the house is a great way to start the day. And it doesn't get much better than grilling fresh tuna or salmon from the local Rowayton Seafood Market on our 6-burner grill and eating al fresco under our Pergola, especially when the hanging Wisteria is in bloom above it. And of course the day wouldn't be complete for the kids if we didn't make smores over the fire as the stars come out (along with the fireflies). The bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, with a Master suite and 3 additional bedrooms (1 is fairly small and best for a young child). The basement is finished and contains a gameroom (WiiU). The entire house has been newly renovated (2012). The street is known as one of the best in town since it is quiet yet only 1 block from "downtown" and Pinkney Park which lie on 5 Mile River. You can easily walk to everything the town has to offer - Bayley Beach, Pinkney Park, Village Restaurants/Bars and even the Metro North Train to NYC (15 min walk to station and 55 train ride into NYC). Guest AccessThe entire house will be accessible. We have adult and kids bikes that you are welcome to use during your stay. We also have a Cedarworks swingset in the backyard and a basketball net on the street that our kids use all the time. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available by phone/email/text throughout your stay to answer any questions and make sure you have a great time. The NeighborhoodRowayton was voted a Top 10 seaside town by Coastal Living Magazine (2013) for good reason. It feels like Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard but you're only 1 hour from NYC. The town comes alive in the summer with frequent events like the live Sunday concerts at Bayley Beach or down the block at Pinkney Park (see (website hidden) for event details). Bayley Beach, the town beach, is a main attraction and bridge-jumping off the Farm Creek bridge is always popular. Kayaks or Stand-up Paddleboards can be rented down the block at 'Downunder' (below Rowayton Market). Rowayton Farmer's Market is held at Pinkney Park each Friday afternoon. 'The Restaurant at Rowayton Seafood' is a fantastic restaurant right on the water in town - great for sunset cocktails out on the deck too. 'Sails' is another popular restaurant and even closer to the house. 'Rowayton Pizza' has fantastic outdoor seating for a nice casual experience and you can walk across to 'Brendan's 101' for ice cream after for your walk home along the river. 'Brendan's' and 'Rowayton Market' are both extremely popular for breakfast and lunch - the Market also has deck-seating out back that overlooks the river. Rowayton Library and the town dock are also a quick walk from the house. Getting AroundAlthough tucked away out on a peninsula in the LI Sound, the house is only 1.5 miles away from the Metro North train station that takes you into NYC and is only 4 miles from I-95. There are other great seaside towns surrounding Rowayton as well - Darien, Westport, and Greenwich to name a few.

    The SpaceThough quaint and coastal, the town of Rowayton is just a train ride away to NYC. Our house is in walking distance to the train. Our house is unique because it offers a sense of privacy being the last house on a dead end street yet is very much in the heart of town. We have a yard and access to all this amazing town has to offer, including summer concerts at the park and access to boating of all kinds. The town beach feels private and is very child friendly. Guest AccessWe will allow access to all our house with the exception of our garage. Interaction with GuestsWe will be away during the rental period, but can easily assist and help with anything via phone or email. The NeighborhoodRowayton is special and unique as it is just a 50 minute train ride to New York City yet feels like a town far away from the hustle and bustle. Driven by a strong sense of community, Rowayton attracts many who desire to work and live in a way that is balanced and joyful. Getting AroundGetting to Rowayton is easy. From car, it is right off I-95 and by train, there are many options, including a direct ride from New York City right to Rowayton Station which is walking distance from our home.

    The SpaceThis is a gated private community with a beach club , tennis court . Golf cart usage available for extra fee. We provide a MAID SERVICE 2 times a week for 3-4 hours. For additional maid service our trusted personal is available $30/hour on a daily basis. She would clean bathrooms kitchen, vacuum etc take trash out, change sheets ,towels etc. Kayaks, life west also ready for our guests. Local market ,post office , restaurants and bars are in 5 mins drive in Rowayton Downtown. For delivery available, pizza, sushi, Greek, etc. Patio has large Grill outdoor furniture ,dining table, Loveseats. Beach we designed a bar. Which is fully equipped with refrigerator, freezer, bar stools etc. Dry cleaning service also available for additional cost. They will come to pick up on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Interaction with GuestsProperty manager will be available daily. Owners are available via email as well. The NeighborhoodWilson Point is a Private community Amazing neighbors very friendly. Left neighbor is never here. Right neighbor is a friend of ours. Rowayton is filled with young professionals , young children amazing town. Beach playground is in 6 mins. SONO (SOUTH norwalk is 8-10 mins drive, filled with Night and Bar life, Washington Prime restaurant , Barcelona restaurant, Loft Martini Bar, Match our favorite restaurant. and other italian, asian ,peruvian, mexican restaurant on one street. Right by washington st there s the MARITIME AQUARIUM ( sharks, seals etc) Movies in the hart of SONO 7mins from us. Getting AroundTrain to NY- Grand Central is 8mins drive. Rowayton station. It s a 1hr 10min train ride to Grand Central NYC.

              Classic, Charming Rowayton Victorian circa 1898 with modern, bright, clean, cheery, elegant feel, with views of the Five Mile River. Primary residence, well maintained with quality furnishing, home features gourmet kitchen, renovated baths, original moldings, hardwood floors, and many period details. Well furnished and decorated. Great flow for family and relaxing on the porch. Beautiful border flower and rose gardens enclosed by a picket fence. One to five minute walk to restaurants and markets and shops and Rowayton Arts Center in Rowayton Village. Nature Preserve and Library nearby. Escape the city for a week or long weekend! This past Friday, I spent the afternoon at Crockett Johnson’s house — 74 Rowayton Avenue (Rowayton, Connecticut), where he and Ruth Krauss lived from 1945 to 1973. Though I wrote their biography and had seen (and photographed) the house from the outside, I’d never been inside. I’ve seen all of their homes from the outside, but — hesitant to intrude on residents’ privacy — not actually been into the homes themselves. Since I was in town to give a talk that evening, Gil and Kim Kernan (the current owners) kindly invited me to spend some time in their home. My visit was one of the happiest events occasioned by my Johnson-Krauss biography. Feel free to inquire about dates not currently listed.

              We live in a private association called Bell Island. We are surrounded by incredible views of Long Island Sound and Farm Creek Preserve and our beaches are reserved for use by residents and their guests only. Our home is on a tidal estuary called Farm Creek. The creek is fed by the Long Island Sound and the rear porch faces west for incredible waterfront sunsets. Bell Island is a private community and the perfect place to relax and unwind! This unique home perched on the waters edge can comfortably sleep five. Guests have two private waterfront decks overlooking a garden with firepit and seating for four. The first floor deck has two loungers and a dining table that seats six. The third floor deck has two comfortable adirondeck chairs looking out over the water and enjoys views of the abundant wildlife of Farm Creek, a protected preserve. The view from the third floor is exceptional and our favorite place on the property. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee, evening cocktail, or sit with a laptop or tablet to work or hop on the internet. There is cable television in the living room and each bedroom and also air conditioning and wifi throughout the grounds. We usually see about two tide changes per day and at high tide you can launch one of our two kayaks or a paddle board right off the back deck. We live here year round but we feel like we are constantly on vacation : ) Another notable aspect of the property is a private courtyard between the house and the garage. The entire property is fenced in at the front of the house too, so it's set up to allow your dog to roam freely without worrying they will get into the street. The first floor is an open format and very family friendly as you can always have your eyes on your little ones. The kitchen was updated with brand new appliances only two years ago and is perfect for the home chef. From the kitchen island you can look out onto Farm Creek and enjoy the water view at high tide or sunset in the evening. What we find most appealing about the property is the location. We are a short 1-2 minute walk from two beautiful private beaches on the Long Island Sound. Our favorite is East Beach, which looks out over a mooring field and onto nearby Tavern Island and Sheffield Island. Both islands are navigable by kayak or paddle board if you are willing to expend some effort and get a good workout in! Another great aspect of the location is a large private park a couple hundred yards from our front door. The park has a backstop and some benches along the water and is a perfect place to take your kids or your morning coffee...or espresso from our Nespresso esspresso maker! Then there is Rocky Point, a truly magnificent private park about a five minute walk from our front door. The park juts out into the sound and on a clear day you will enjoy exceptional views of Long Island and the NYC skyline about 35 miles away. As for the general accommodations, the master bedroom on the 2nd floor has a queen bed for two. The space can accommodate a crib at the foot of the bed but a crib would also fit in the master bathroom which is quite large, about 12ft x 8ft, and only steps from the bed. The third floor has another queen bed and a single bed and there is an aero mattress in the closet should you need it. We've also had guests sleep on our couch in the living room, which is deep enough one might refer to it as more of a daybed than a couch. So all in, the house can comfortably accommodate five people; two in the master queen, two in the 3rd floor queen, and then one more in the 3rd floor single bed. But if you needed to, you could fit two more on the aero bed and another on the couch in the living room. From NYC, our house is about a one hour train ride on the New Haven train line out of Grand Central Station.
