The SpaceGlamping at its Best! Situated in my private backyard off a country road, "Ms Amelia" is a 1975 Airstream Trailer. She is a graceful dame who has been thoroughly updated and refurbished. At 30 feet long, there is ample space. She has a private bedroom with a queen size bed on a raised platform. The bathroom has a toilet, basin, a travertine floor and a cozy aromatic cedar-paneled shower. There is a large (well, large for a trailer!) closet to store your suitcase and clothes. In the living area, there is a marbled-topped kitchen counter, small refrigerator, air conditioner/heater and coffee maker. I provide dishes, glasses and a french press coffee maker. There is a small couch, coffee table and a chair. This trailer is probably best for people 6 feet or under - though I was told that those over 6 feet will usually know how to duck around the lights! Please note that Ms Amelia has a camping aspect to her. She is not a hotel room but is a charming trailer with all that that would imply, and is certainly gloried camping! She is 40 years old, which in trailer years is equivalent to 90+ years old. Please respect her and understand that, as with older individuals, she takes some care and kindness! Outside is a table and chairs, a propane grill and garden area for relaxing. Park in my driveway. There is also an outdoor shower with hot and cold water in my very private backyard. Wifi is available for your laptop or notebook. "Ms Amelia" is on a private country road, quiet and secluded, and my yard is a certified Wildlife Habitat. I feed the birds and have a lovely garden. At night, you may hear the owls hooting or the buoys sounding on the water. Keep a lookout for the hummingbirds that feed outside the door! Pets, smoking, drugs are not allowed. Polite, reasonable behavior is expected. Quiet time is from 11 pm to 7 am. There is a 2 night minimum in the summer months. Off season there is a two night minimum during the weekends, one night during the week (Sunday through Thursday). Ms Amelia is not available to rent in the colder months - Dec. 1 through March 31. In the morning, I will provide muffins or scones and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, water, and juice are stocked in the trailer. Should you wish, I can provide a delicious dinner (vegetarian or fish) with wine for an additional $20 per person. The Borough of Stonington, chartered in 1651, is a beautiful and historic seaside village that is a couple of miles away. It has great restaurants, bars, shops and art galleries. Mystic is about 5 miles down the road, with shopping, coffee shops, bookstore, restaurants, Amtrak station, and bars. Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are about 5 miles away. There are opportunities for hiking, kayaking, biking, boating and exploring the shoreline. Watch Hill and the beautiful Rhode Island beaches are 20 minutes away. A wonderful vineyard with wine tasting is just down the road. Before booking, I would appreciate you setting up an AirBnB profile. Or send a message - I would like to get to know you a bit and be sure that this is a good fit. I look forward to hosting you! Guest AccessYou are welcome to use our backyard. We have a lovely gazebo to dine in, or you can play one of the many lawn games (Corn hole, Petanque, Croquet). Interaction with GuestsI am available for all your needs. However, I respect people's privacy and will not disturb you unless absolutely necessary. The NeighborhoodMs Amelia is situated in my private backyard/garden on a country road. You will be surrounded by greenery and birds. Getting AroundThere is no convenient public transportation. A car is really needed to get around. Other Things to NoteMs Amelia is located on a country road in a wooded section of Connecticut. Please let aware that there may be ticks, mosquitoes and poison ivy on the property. I provide insect repellent and mosquito repellent lanterns.

The SpaceThis cottage is a perfect example of the historic charm and character of Stonington Borough. Built in the early 1900's, it is one of the older cottages in the Village, peering over accents of the harbor from both floors. A 45 foot dock is available across the street with special arrangements if you have a boat you would like to dock. The cottage has a large backyard with a Weber charcoal grill, and includes three bicycles with quick access to the beach and point (about a 5 min bike ride). The house is 1500 square feet and has two floors, with a covered, sunlit front porch. On the main floor there is a large living room with a cozy fireplace, a bedroom and bathroom, and a beautiful, sunlit kitchen, well-equipped for cooking delicious food. You can buy fresh fish and seafood just down the street. The second floor has classic hardwood floors, a reading/play room and two bedrooms and another bathroom. The cottage has three bedrooms and can sleep up to 6. The Borough is a great summer getaway with wonderful amenities - a library, playground, restaurants, marinas and farmer's market every Saturday morning just one block from the house.

The SpaceOur house is located in the heart of this fishing village near Little Narragansett Bay, flanked by grand 18th century clapboard mansions yet very private, modest and quiet. Shops and restaurants are within a three minute walk from the house. A three-story Victorian built in 1902, it is a house full of character and recently renovated comforts with two new full bathrooms and a new kitchen. Enjoy breezes off the bay sitting on the rear deck or in the cottage garden. The third floor is an entirely private suite with two sleeping areas divided by a stair case, one containing a comfortable twin bed and the other an antique full-sized bed with a twin trundle roll-out bed beneath it. The space can accommodate three guests comfortably. (Please Note: The staircase is steep by today's standards and can be difficult to navigate for the unsteady.) The sunrise will waken you as the windows on the eastern side face the water directly and the windows let in full sunshine, so pull down the shades to sleep in after dawn. Stunning views of Watch Hill, Little Narragansett Bay, Fisher's Island Sound and Stonington Harbor can be seen from vantage points throughout the space. There is a small yoga and meditation room attached to the sleeping areas via an open doorway complete with a yoga wall with ropes, for those who wish to begin or end their day with yoga practice. Feel free to use the bicycles, kayaks, and beach chairs during your stay. LOGISTICS of NOTE: It is important to be aware that the stairs to the third floor are steep and somewhat narrow with a nautical rope railing. Please see the photo of the staircase if this is a concern. Also, the ceilings in the dormers are 5'11, so one must mind one's head in places. PETS: We recently adopted one short-haired cat named Vance. He is not allowed in any bedroom areas and he keeps to the first floor. Guest AccessWe prefer guests to use the front door. Guests may use the rear deck and garden. Guests have exclusive use of the 2nd floor bathroom which will only be shared if there is a guest in the Red Room on that floor. Interaction with GuestsWe are relatively new Airbnb hosts and we expect our hosting to evolve as we go along, responding to the needs of our guests. We will be delighted to give you tips about the area but we also respect visitors' need for privacy. Life here is casual and my husband Stuart and I generally leave our guests to their own devices. We are happy to help guests get set up with the kayaks, bikes, beach chairs, etc. During the quieter, slower seasons we often lay out a continental breakfast for our guests, but it is not formally included in our amenities. The NeighborhoodStonington, CT was listed in Yankee Magazine's Top-10 Coastal Towns in 2015. The Borough is a unique fishing village situated on a small peninsula with public access to the shoreline throughout. With its history extending back to pre-Revolutionary times, the houses and architecture here span almost three centuries. Main St. is a charming place to stroll, window shop on Water St., enjoy great restaurants, visit the Point with its vistas of the Harbor, Fisher's Island, Watch Hill, Mystic Seaport and Groton in 270 degree views. Visit the beach or walk out on the old stone pier, take a sailing lesson at NESS, or pull in to Dodson's Boatyard on your own boat. The Lighthouse Museum is down the street and offers walking tours of the historical village. The area is chock full of antiquing, thrift shops, farmer's markets, lobster and seafood shacks, and don't miss the Velvet Mill which contains a whole variety of craft artisans, a brewery, a cheese shop, a bakery, galleries and shops in an old brick textile factory on the village outskirts. Mystic Seaport and Village, Pequot Museum, Mystic Aquarium and the vibrant town of Westerly, RI are all within a few miles of Stonington. And in the Autumn, leaf peepers make a pilgrimage to this lovely area to take in the stunning New England Fall foliage display. The stone walls themselves are numerous and mysterious, and seem to give this magical place its true name. Stunning beaches of Rhode Island are within a 20-minute drive, for swimming, surfing and sunbathing. But boating seems to be the favorite sport hereabouts and there are plenty of coves, harbors and miles of shoreline to explore. Barn Island is a wildlife sanctuary full of trails for hiking, boating, hunting and fishing. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation, so you will need your own two feet, plus a boat, bike, or automobile to get around. Uber taxis are available, Enterprise car rentals and the Amtrak train stations connecting Boston to DC are close by in Mystic, CT, Westerly, RI, and New London, CT. Southeastern CT Coastal train lines connect to New Haven and NYC. Other Things to NoteIn summer the Borough of Stonington is busy and full of people, cars, especially on the weekends. Street parking can get tight, though we have a driveway which can accommodate two vehicles when necessary. The week days are much more quiet here, especially between mid-October and April, when the pace and population of the village slows down to only its year-round inhabitants.

The SpaceTucked away at the end of the street, you will have the privacy you desire yet Stonington Village is just a quick 20 minute walk away. Also the home is located down the street from The Velvet Mill, which has been transformed into artist studios, and houses a variety of small artisanal shops including a bakery, cheese - maker, and brewery and more. Plus, every Saturday in the fall and winter, the Stonington Farmer's Market is held in the Great Hall of the Mill. Talk about convenient! This spacious home boasts 3 bedrooms, a living/dining room, gourmet kitchen and large family room. But wait, that isn't everything. The home also has a private outdoor shower (seasonal) off the back porch and wrap around porch in the front of the home with rocking chairs for evening gatherings. The garden has a lovely pergola with comfortable chairs and a couch for lounging as well. And if you get in the mood for a game, there are horseshoe pits in the front yard. Unlike the borough, this home also has plenty of parking options. We own the slip of property across the street, so not only do you have 2 parking spaces at the top of the hill by the house, there is also plenty of space in the gravel parking area for 2 more cars. No need to bring linens or towels (including beach towels). **note there is air Conditioning downstairs and a window unit in the Master bedroom. The other bedrooms have window fans. Because the home is on a hill and we have such nice breezes we almost never use the AC. Don't seem to need it. Guest AccessYou have access to the entire home. There is a washer and dryer in the basement which you are welcome to use. You are also welcome to use anything in the refrigerator in the kitchen and any food in the pantry if needed. Please let us know when items are depleted though so that we can resupply. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I live and work in New York City and travel back to Windy Hill as much as possible, But, while we are away, we hope that you enjoy our home as much as we do. With that, we have a manager, Lori Moore, who will be happy to greet you when you arrive (if you choose) and will be available throughout your stay to assist you if needed. Prior to your arrival, we will connect you with her so that your stay will be as smooth and relaxing as possible. The NeighborhoodStonington Village/the Borough are a special place. The village centre has a European feel filled withs boutique stores and restaurants. Just a short drive away is Historic Downtown Mystic, where Mystic Pizza was filmed a long time ago (yes, there really is a Mystic Pizza) and in the other direction you have the beautiful beaches of Rhode Island and Watch Hill where the wealthy and Taylor Swift have their summer "cottages." Our house is a 20-25 minute drive to Rhode Island beaches depending upon when you go. Getting AroundWhile there isn't a lot of public transportation, we are right on the Amtrak line, so it is easy to get here via train from either Boston or New York. You have the choice of arriving here at New London, Mystic, or Westerly. A cheaper way to travel by train from New York is to use MetroNorth to New Haven and then take Shoreline East to New London. Check the schedules since the train only stops in New London periodically. Otherwise, we are a car friendly town, just off I-95 (exit 91) and you will see people walking and riding bikes everywhere. Our home has enough space for two cars at the top of the driveway and 2-3 at the bottom. Please do not park in the dirt road as that does not belong to us. Also, on Thursdays the Landscaping company comes to mow the lawn so the car at the top of the driveway closest to the house will need to be moved to the lower parking area so that the mowers can get into the back yard. Other Things to NoteOnce you arrive, you will find that we have left a manual filled with helpful hints in the kitchen, including instructions on how to run certain appliances, wifi, and suggestions for fun things to do and places to eat.

Interaction with GuestsWe are relatively new Airbnb hosts and we expect our hosting to evolve as we go along, responding to the needs of our guests. We will be delighted to give you tips about the area but we also respect visitors' need for privacy. Life here is casual and my husband Stuart and I generally leave our guests to their own devices . We are glad to help guests get set up with the kayaks, bikes, etc. Or simply walk 2 minutes to DuBois Beach on the Point. Boating seems to be the favorite sport hereabouts and there are plenty of coves, harbors and miles of shoreline to explore. Barn Island is a wildlife sanctuary full of trails for hiking, boating, hunting and fishing. Getting AroundOn and off-street parking are available. There is virtually no public transit, so walking, biking, boating and driving are the main modes of transportation in the Borough and its surroundings. We have bicycles which guests may use to get around the village. Other Things to NoteIn summer the Borough of Stonington is busy and full of people, cars, especially on the weekends. Street parking can get tight, though we have a driveway which can accommodate two vehicles when necessary. The week days are much more quiet here, especially between mid-October and April, when the pace slows down and the population of the village shrinks to only its year-round inhabitants. We live here year-round.

As the oldest original structure in Watch Hill Village the Watch Hill Inn was built in 1845 and was known as the Narragansett House. Listed in the National Historical Landmark Register in Washington D. C. the Inn was the first building to be built as an inn from conception and reported to be the oldest of its kind in the country. Along with the Ocean House the Watch Hill Inn was one of only two Watch Hill original hotels to survive the hurricane of 1938. In 2007 renovations we completed that converted the Inn into a collection of luxury condominiums. In 2014 it was again renovated combining several units into luxury duplexes ranging from 650 to 4000 square feet each with terraces overlooking the Watch Hill Bay. It features a contemporary sophisticated design where each suite is equipped with that latest technology. Each of Watch Hill Inns 18 residential-inspired suites and duplexes range in size from 650 to 4000 square feet and are beautifully decorated in a contemporary style fitting of the propertys magnificent coastal setting. Offering full suites equipped with Full Kitchens TVs Washer and Dryers Fireplaces Terraces and Private Bathrooms.

Located opposite Stonington harbor, the house offers spectacular waterfront views. It reflects the Borough's history, having served as an ice storage facility for the clipper ships, then storing coal for the railway, and then becoming an artist's studio and residence. Renovations over time have modernized the residence, but many old elements remain including old ship planking floors on the second floor and the high ceiling on the first floor, giving the living/dining area its airy ambience. The house occupies three stories with an elevator and stairs connecting the floors. The first floor is dominated by a two story open ceiling and large windows. The living area has comfortable seating and both sofas fold out into double beds. The dining area can seat 6 comfortably. A good sized kitchen with "breakfast nook" completes the first floor. The second floor offers a spacious living area with large windows providing spectacular views of the harbor leading out to Long Island Sound. The room is comfortably furnished with numerous chairs, sofa, loveseat, tables, lamps, plus a large library. There is an additional private "reading" area on the landing, which overlooks the living/dining area on the first floor and the courtyard entrance to the house. The master bedroom with double bed and a full bathroom with shower/tub are also on this floor. The third floor has two bedrooms, each with floor to ceiling windows with panoramic views. The bedrooms are connected but each are separately accessed by either the spiral staircase or the elevator. One with a single bed (plus pull out trundle mattress), seating area and a bathroom with shower stall. The other with a double bed, seating area, and a half bath (toilet and sink). The courtyard entry has a charcoal grill, small table and seating, and is ideal for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while enjoying the scenery and grilling. This has been a family home for over 30 years. When my parents retired from the U.S. diplomatic corps they wanted to live in a place that looked out on the water and which offered the charm, culture, and history they experienced during their many years of world travel. They found it in this house and the Borough - panoramic views from the house of Stonington Harbor and Long Island Sound and the surrounding historic houses, museums, shops, restaurants, and cultural events - all literally a short walk away. There are many happy family memories in this house. The house still contains items they collected from travels around the world. We want to share with our guests its very special character and the story it tells.
