The House is right on the beach with a small boardwalk to cross the dunes. Easy to have a bonfire on the beach. house
4br house
Built about 1760, this perfectly preserved colonial home is one of the key historical houses in Greenwich, "The Williamsburg of New Jersey." Greenwich is one of the oldest towns in the Garden State, and was once a busy shipping and shipbuilding center. Today, it is a peaceful and friendly town where everyone knows each other. Don't be disappointed to learn that cellphone service hasn't come to Greenwich yet - you'll have to drive a mile or two out of town to get enough bars to make calls, receive texts and post photos on Facebook. Also, much to the disappointment of some visitors, the nearest beach is quite a long drive from Greenwich, and Atlantic City is a good 90 minutes away. There's not much to do in Greenwich, which is why we like it so much. Aunt Betty's restaurant is open until 2pm, and I've never actually seen a clerk at the Post Office. No snack bar, no gas station, no theater, no cafe, no rave club, no bookshop, no antique store. If you're looking for nightlife, this is the wrong place for you. Inside the front door is the Clockmaker's Shop - just the way it would have looked before the Revolution. Benjamin Reeve was a talented craftsman, and when you came to commission a clock for your home, there were lots of decisions to make before the project got underway. You could also buy maps and surveying instruments from Mr. Reeve. Past the Shop is the Library, where we keep an eclectic collection of New Jersey history books and many a volume of quaint and curious lore. Beyond that is the Kitchen and the Back Porch where you'll probably spend most of your time. Upstairs, the Master's Bedroom features a rope bed (modernized) in a size that hasn't been made since the early 1800s (it's a little narrower than a Queen). Aunt Jane's room is down the hall, next to the bathroom (tub/shower). If you're the last one into the bath in the morning, you're not likely to get as much hot water as you'd like. The third floor is divided into two parts - The Playroom (two single beds) and The War Room (two single beds). A fine place for kids to watch movies (Bose home theater system) and roughhouse. We keep a pair of jet skis in the barn, so if you have a boat endorsement on your drivers license and a tow hitch on your car, you might enjoy exploring the endless system of tidal inlets and creeks where the smugglers used to hide out. The Clockmaker's Shop is our private museum, filled with old and valuable relics of New Jersey's colonial heritage. It is a very small house, and eight guests are likely to get kind of cramped. The ideal party is three adults and four kids. There's plenty of food in the house and you're welcome to everything, including the adult beverages, at no additional charge. That's just Greenwich hospitality. A few days before your arrival, we'll send a larder inventory and a suggested shopping list. We insist that if there are guests under 18 years of age an adult must be on the premises. We will not tolerate underage drinking on the property, and if this is observed by one of our neighbors, the Cumberland County sheriff will order the premises closed (vacation over).

However, set up is your responsibility. Mature landscaping surrounds the house. There are five queen beds in three bedrooms. The family room has a futon and the living room has a queen. Therefore, the house sleeps seven. Bed and bath line is provided along with soap/shampoo. If you have more than five the guests, I charge $25 per guest per night. Children count as guests over five I have very nice cots with mattresses, sheets pillow etc that I can set up as well as a crib. I need 48 hour advanced notice for additional beds. I try to take my cue from you if you want information. I grew up here and know the area well. I don't serve breakfast unless you make specific prior arrangements. I have also done other meals at market pricing The NeighborhoodVery rural but close to shopping. I know that sounds odd, but this area was sparred from development boom east of Route 1. Dover Downs is two miles away and close to Firefly and the festivals. The beach is 45 mins (Lewes) to an hour away (Rehoboth). The farm has three miles of trails through fields and woods. Abundant wildlife. Several great destinations in the area. Try the Biggs Museum or the DE Agricultural Museum. I really like the Dickinson Plantation. Bombay Hook NWR is close by. You can also travel to many of the great towns on the eastern shore of maryland. Chestertown is an hour away and one of the best spots on the Chesapeake The Delaware beach towns are a nice trip and very drivable. Many guests will stay here and visit the beaches. Several of the states top rated restaurants are in town and Dover Downs is five mins away. It is the best casino in Delaware. Plenty of fun things to do at the farm. Help us care for the animals up close and personal. Getting AroundNearest public transportation is on Route 13. I do not provide transportation for guests. I live an hour away. You will need a car when you to stay here. Other Things to NoteThere are many animals on the farm. They are there to enjoy but please don't go in with them. Ask the caretaker April to assist. She is there every morning (outside only) to take care of them. The grounds are so large you may never see her unless you walk down to the barn There are also five dogs at the farm. Please do not open the kennels. They are happy to have visitors. If you check in with them they don't bark too much. If they bother you, I can move them to the barn. There is a small can with milk bones but no more than one treat each per day. They will be your best buddies after that. Our dogs work at the hunting preserve in the winter and are English Pointers. Hunters may be in the field during the winter. No hunters are within a mile of the house and will have no impact on your stay. This is a real farm in the spring and fall tractors will be in the fields planting. The animals make noises and in the summer they smell like, well animals. You are by the Delaware Bay and certain times in the summer the bugs can be bad. The house has screens in the windows but bug spray works great especially at dusk or windless days.
