The SpaceOur 1885 vernacular farm house has been lovingly restored and furnished with eclectic pieces collected from small towns across Georgia. High quality bedding, towels, fixtures, bath products, central air and wifi provide modern comfort in an historic setting.
With our full kitchen, you can cook as much as you like and have access to our garden produce (seasonal) and fresh eggs from our chickens. We provide ground coffee and a coffee maker. Guest AccessGuests have full use of the farmhouse except for the fireplaces. Interaction with GuestsThis is our weekend house, so we will give you the keys and then head back to our house in town. We stop by the farm daily to feed the animals, mow the grass, and work in our garden or woodshop, so if you have any questions you can catch us then. Our son occasionally stays in our barnhouse loft, so you may see him around when he's not at work. The NeighborhoodOur farm is located on 150 acres about 20 minutes from Douglas. We have cows, horses, chickens, guineas, goats, sheep, and sometimes hogs. Our sunsets are beautiful and the skies are totally clear at night thanks to zero light pollution from cities. We have two ponds for fishing and a bait/worm/compost - just ask us for the poles.
If you need anything from town, we can probably bring it to you if you let us know in advance. There are some small grocery stores and restaurants in Broxton, but most amenities are in Douglas. For groceries and other miscellaneous items your best bet is probably WalMart. Our recommended food stops are Bobby's Treat Shop, Holt's Bakery, J&D Cafe, and Zaxby's. If you'd like to do some small town shopping, shameless plug here, come see our boutique in Douglas - Becky's Gifts & Antiques. :) If you like nature, try to schedule a visit to the Broxton Rocks (reservation needed) or visit General Coffee State Park. Getting AroundSadly there is no public transit here, so you'll have to have a car. Other Things to NoteThere are three full bedrooms with full beds. The fourth bedroom is a loft above the kitchen with two twin beds. There is also a sofa that can be used for an extra person. Note that the Internet can be slow since we're in a rural area and the infrastructure isn't great.
