The SpacePLEASE NOTE: I have 2 nice bedrooms that I share. Most of the time only 1 is occupied at a time. So even if it appears booked here, please send me an email to see if the other room is open. You may find rentals for less money, but you won't find any places in a nicer, safer, or more convenient spot for such an affordable rate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ why would you want to stay here? *you prefer the comfort of a cozy 50s home in a lovely walking community. *you think big sweet orange tabby cats are wonderful (and they are). *you like to awaken to the view and sounds of nature: mainly owls and birds, and an occasional coyote howl in the distance. *you like eclectic decor and the privacy of a home yet comfort of sharing space. *you like the option of eating home cooked meals and having access to a kitchen. why would you NOT stay here? *you prefer hotel art and daily maid service *you enjoy ordering room service. *you are allergic to or don't like cats (there's just one, but still) *you don't like funky old houses. *you don't like to share space. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ share a bedroom in my home. i work from home and am here a lot, but it is quiet and plenty of room for you to have your privacy. there are two spare bedrooms, both cozy and comfortable with plenty of closet space and a full bathroom in the hallway. so if the one is occupied, then we may share a very large bathroom (with a jacuzzi). this works better with female tenants. one room has paneling as photographed. you also have use of nice living room/dining room, a sun room and kitchen, plus a huge private 800 square foot yoga studio overlooking a flowering, lush private yard. The studio is set up with plenty of extra mats and props for your convenience and if i happen to be teaching a group, your attendance is welcomed for no additional charge. wireless internet and long distance and local domestic phone calls are available. i no longer have pay TV, but there is a dvd player if you want to rent or watch movies. feel free to use the kitchen...there's a health food store and grocery stores within walking distance. there's an oven/stove, refrigerator to use, microwave. no dishwasher. i work at minimizing the amounts of chemicals in the home, so i use natural soaps, dishwashing detergent, cleaning products, avoid candles and air fresheners, etc. i keep a huge assortment of organic herbal teas, black and green tea, and also have fresh ground coffee available at your request. and, as a healthy bonus, i have a whole-house water filter with an additional reverse osmosis filter for drinking water. so avoid buying commercial water and feel free to borrow one of my stainless steel containers for water if you'd like. i eat at home and prepare meals with mostly organic, whole, plant based meals. I'm not vegan nor a vegetarian, but i eat mostly fish (not so much poultry or meat and when i do it is non factory farmed).... i do not require that guests eat the way I eat, by the way! just that you clean up after yourself if you eat and cook here. there's parking in the driveway or the street in front of the house, and the area is very safe and quiet. I have a washer and dryer for your convenience. i have a sweet, big orange tabby named Leo who love to have yogi visitors. he is an indoor kitty so i ask that visitors be mindful to not let him outside..and he will try! so if he does happen to slip out, he generally just runs out a few feet to chew the (URL HIDDEN) please just scoop him up and put him back inside . you can walk to the historic downtown Decatur square, experience the famous Dekalb farmer's market, check out health food stores, local parks, the YMCA, and have at least 6 yoga studios within a mile or so. this is a pretty liberal, LGBT friendly home by the way. ask me if you'd like a free pass for the newly remodeled YMCA (up to 1 (URL HIDDEN) a 5 minute walk and has a pool, sauna, classes and cardio/weight equipment. From the Decatur Square, you can catch a train to travel all over the city...$2.50 will get you to downtown, Buckhead, the ATL airport, all around metro ATL etc... this is a safe neighborhood that has been described as Berkeley meets (URL HIDDEN) in the Emory and Agnes Scott area and after your yoga classes, there are galleries, restaurants, and shops to unwind and relax. Little Five Points, Candler Park, Morningside, midtown, Va. Highlands, and downtown Atlanta are all within 5-15 min. away, depending on traffic and time. The Emory shuttle is free and picks up 2 blocks away, so this is perfect for visiting Emory students, teachers and doctors. if you would like me to provide food and/or local transportation, if my schedule allows, I would gladly try to do so for a small fee. I'm also happy to provide some fresh bananas and other fruit for you to snack on. I have this listed for one person; however, a couple or an adult with a child may be okay too...just ask. More than 2 people and it would probably be a bit crowded. Contact me for rates for more than one person. no pets or smoking in the house. No incense or candles allowed. I just know you'll love your stay here and will do what i can to help you make the best of your stay. I've lived in this area my entire life and am happy to be your concierge! Guest Accessliving room, yoga/meditation studio (except during a class), sunroom, kitchen, dining area. Interaction with Guestsminimal to moderate interaction depending on the needs of my guests and my work schedule. The Neighborhoodlovely community with a sweet small-town vibe, beautiful homes and landscaping, walk-friendly, great neighbors Getting Aroundwalking, Decatur Marta rail, (1 mi/15 min walk) plus Marta buses, FREE Emory shuttle. Other Things to NotePLEASE DO NOT ALLOW LEO THE CAT OUTSIDE! Pardon the (URL HIDDEN) just that this is important. He loves to run out and chew (URL HIDDEN) IF he gets out, PLEASE grab him and put him back inside. He generally only runs out about 4 or 5 feet and stops, and he doesn't bolt away when you go to pick him up. PLEASE: He must NOT be left outside!! he is an indoor kitty and could be killed by a car or even a coyote (they say there are some in the woods and can attack small pets. I have never personally seen one). (please note: security deposit is based on a one week to one month stay. If you are staying longer, the deposit is $350, if you are staying shorter than a week, the deposit is $150)

The SpaceWhile there are some shared spaces, contact with the host will be as minimal as guests would like. The owner will only use the kitchen to quickly heat pre-cooked meals and prepare a coffee or get a drink from the fridge. The basement is fully furnished and it is a private apartment. The only thing it lacks is a kitchen. Guest AccessOur home has three levels. Guests will have shared access to main floor which has the kitchen, dining and living room. Guests will have exclusive access to the floor which has two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. The basement is occupied by the adult son of the owner. He will only come up to heat food or retrieve something from the fridge. The basement has access to the outside and while hosting air bnb guests, the owner's son will not come through the house to leave or return. Interaction with GuestsYes, I will be able to assist guests with discovering Atlanta. The NeighborhoodOur house is 15 minutes from downtown Decatur on a quiet residential cul de sac. Getting AroundWe are 15 minutes walk from the Decatur Marta station and the Decatur Marta bus stops at the end of our cul de sac. Other Things to NoteThe house is very spacious and the fact that the owner's son lives in the basement will impact privacy in a very limited way only.

The SpaceThis "ITP" 1950s bungalow boasts hardwood floors throughout, mid-century decor, southern porches, and is walking distance to public transit, restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, yoga and more! Sleep like a dream on a comfy queen sized Simmons BeautyRest. The room also has a nightstand, a full length mirror, shelves, a small closet, small work table and is located across the hall from the shared bathroom (which has ample room to leave toiletries in there and "unpack" a little.) Guest AccessThis listing includes use of the bedroom and bathroom, plus you will have access to a mini-fridge to keep a few perishables in, as well as microwave access. If you feel you'll need kitchen access, you may visit our other listing, which includes kitchen use...https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5339355?checkin=03%2F08%2F2016&checkout=03%2F09%2F2016&s=DT-QUY6e One complimentary load of laundry each week is included in your stay. Because the laundry room is in my bedroom, I ask that you book a day in advance and don't do laundry too late at night. You may come and go as you please, there is no curfew. You will be issued a key and an alarm code (you must turn alarm on when leaving, and off when entering). Quiet hours are typically 12am–8am. Interaction with GuestsYour hosts are Megan & Jason and we are a pretty fun team. Megan is a graphic designer who also teaches yoga and piano and goes to a lot of burlesque events in town, and Jason is an avid rock climber and slackliner. We are free spirits, travelers, and we love to hike and cook. We are also night owls, but are quiet when our guests are sleeping. We both work from home most days, so we are usually around. We often work on projects in the living room and dining room, so sometimes those rooms are messy :) Your room and bathroom, however will be spotless on arrival. We have one fat cat Harper who most guests quickly grow to love. We have two rooms rented out, so it will typically be us and one other guest. We like to think we have a knack for attracting awesome renters, so the house usually has a pretty fun, communal atmosphere. The NeighborhoodThis is the perfect spot for the lone and adventurous traveler. If you don't Atlanta, you should know that it's very important to stay ITP (Inside The Perimeter) while here, or you're not really in Atlanta! Despite Decatur address, we are ITP, meaning Decatur functions as one of Atlanta's charming neighborhoods. Only about 5 miles to all the good spots in town and a short walk to MARTA (our public transit) makes this a very convenient location. You can Uber to just about any of the popular Atlanta neighborhoods (where you'll find our best bars, restaurants, coffee shops, parks and boutiques) for about $6-12. Also, one stop away, or about a 15 minute walk is Downtown Decatur, which is a pretty happening spot for a craft beer or a farm-to-table meal. Decatur is more like an Atlanta neighborhood since we are ITP, but we have our own little culture here. It's a very educated and progressive part of town. We have a festival for everything (beer, wine, bluegrass, books, art...) and I think our food is some of the best in town. We are an active community, so if you decide to go for a run or bike ride, you'll have plenty of company on the side walk. Very LGBTQ-friendly, very family-friendly, very youth-friendly, very kale-friendly. Getting AroundThe MARTA bus stop is at one end of our street and the Avondale train station is at the other end (you can get there straight from the airport). MARTA is NOT the most efficient way to get around this city, I would recommend Uber or Lyft (first time users, ask me for a discount code), which unless you're going far, doesn't cost a lot more money and will get you there twice as fast. Renting a car is also a good option. Other Things to NoteI occasionally ask guests to feed Harper when I have a late rehearsal or if I go out of town for a few days. He is very easy. If this presents a problem for you, please let me know at the time of booking. Street parking is available ACROSS the street from my house. When you arrive, my house is the one with the picket fence, and entrance to the fence is on the driveway to the RIGHT of the house if you're facing it.

The SpaceThe key feature of this 750 square foot garden suite is its location (described under Neighborhood). The suite is newly remodeled and new on the market. It offers a private entrance off an elevated deck overlooking a large greenspace. The main room offers 11-foot cathedral ceiling, skylights and patio doors. Brand new hardwood floors throughout. A clean, contemporary bathroom offers custom ceramic tile and a walk-in glass shower. Kitchen area includes cooktop, full fridge, microwave with a grilling element (i.e. small pizza) and double stainless sink. Eating areas include round oak table or outdoor table on the deck. We envisioned the space as an executive suite and offer a separate workspace for a laptop. Bedroom includes brand new Sealy Posturpedic hybrid queen size mattress. Sleeping is also possible in the living room (main room). Two children or one adult can sleep on the futon bed in the main room. The space is very quiet at night. The bedroom is very dark. Main room is very bright. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire suite through a separate private entrance off the deck. It requires one flight of steps. We offer a private hotel-like experience where you can come and go as you please. Interaction with GuestsThe host works from home and is available for much of the day if needs arise. The NeighborhoodDowntown Decatur has become a regional draw due to its fabulous pedestrian and culinary scene. There are pubs, a brew pub, nationally-renowned restaurants, Eddie's Attic music venue, breakfast spots, multiple coffee shops, and festivals on the Square. All within an easy walk. Getting AroundThe Marta station is right in the neighborhood. You can travel directly from the Airport with a change of trains at Five Points. The World Congress Center is single train ride, approximately 20 minutes away. A free shuttle takes you directly to Emory University and the CDC. Uber is usually a 3-8 minute wait. We are located on the Stone Mountain Trail -- a 20-mile long bike route that connects Atlanta to Stone Mountain. Half of the route is off-road. We have bikes available for guests. The SpaceCheerful, comfy and airy! Spacious BR with king platform bed. Cozy sunroom with mini-fridge and coffee/tea essentials. Wifi. Private covered porch off BR is a great place to read, relax, have coffee, watch birds, unwind. Large sunny bathroom with walk-in shower. (Note: lovely tub in bathroom is NOT operational at this time.) All of the rooms are restful and uncluttered. It's a relaxing, peaceful space and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Guest AccessPark in driveway and walk through gate to access private entry on back deck. (You're also welcome to use this open deck if you want some sunshine!) Interaction with GuestsAvailable as needed and happy to chat or help with questions, recommendations, etc. I live in the house and work from home most days. I'm outside quite a bit if possible when it's nice out. The NeighborhoodDecatur is a fantastic area. From my house, you're in walking distance of both downtown Decatur and Oakhurst. Nearby are many great restaurants, two excellent breweries (Wild Heaven, 3 Taverns), Decatur town square, Eddie's Attic live music venue, local shops, parks, community garden, chicken coops(!), bike path and more. Lots of big old oak trees make for a great walking environment if you feel like a stroll. Also within 5 miles of lots of other great neighborhoods including L5P, Inman Park, Candler Park, Midtown, Grant Park, VA Highland, O4W and the fantastic Atlanta Beltline! Getting AroundUber and Lyft are great. Also there are 3 MARTA rail stations nearby. The closest is the downtown Decatur station which is 1 mile from my house. Other Things to Note1. We have a cat! She's roughly 80% indoors / 20% outdoors. 2. Our street at times has some aggressive drivers, in spite of it being a residential street in a historic neighborhood. Be sure to use your turn signal! Traffic on the street is typically heavier during the morning and evening commute hours.

Decatur being used for either the PRE-apocalyptic scenes or the sole remaining unspoiled Post-apocalyptic refuge) From NY Times April 2015--- Equal parts molasses-drawled Southern and au courant, Decatur, Ga., has in the last 20 years recast itself from the sleepy DeKalb County seat catering to commuting government nine-to-fivers to one of the South’s trendsetters. Residents say the township, six miles from Atlanta proper, is where “Mayberry meets Berkeley.” Bordered by Emory University and Agnes Scott College, Decatur is anchored by a late 19th-century courthouse (now the DeKalb History Center) and a leafy square dense with some of the state’s best restaurants, pubs and shops. Decatur High School is a 8 minute walk. Dekalb County Courthouse is a 7 minute walk. Groceries from Kroger (or Sat and Wednesday farmers' markets) are a 8 minute walk. Other Things to NoteLate check-ins are never a problem since we'll assign you a door code, and you don't need to meet for your 'key". The Honey pot in the kitchen is from my bees! It's a triplex, the other two apts are long-term tenants. You share NO walls, but Very Civilized Behavior is expected. Tons of families and little kids; not asking anyone to be a mentor but... just sayin' From NY Times April 2015--- Equal parts molasses-drawled Southern and au courant, Decatur, Ga., has in the last 20 years recast itself from the sleepy DeKalb County seat catering to commuting government nine-to-fivers to one of the South’s trendsetters. The Space*NOTE: will be traveling most of May and will not be there most of the month, while Jason will be in and out, so I can only accommodate monthly stays for that month (since I won't be present to clean between guests) and you will also have the hole mostly to yourself! Stay in a 1950s bungalow with all hardwood floors, southern porches, and charming decor. Rental includes a two beautiful bedrooms — one with a queen size Simmons BeautyRest and the other with a comfy double bed (with feather topper). Both rooms have a full length mirror, a small desk, a small closet, tasteful decor, and are located next to the shared bathroom (which has ample room to leave toiletries in there and "unpack" a little.) If you're only looking to rent 1 bedroom or want to read more reviews, check out our other listing: https://airbnb.com/rooms/5343730?s=8&user_id=3178579&ref_device_id=1b346a4f8a39c1f4ba5769397594c620c8a56ec6 The living room has a smart tv, already logged in to Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc. The kitchen has a mini fridge at your disposal. Guest AccessI typically rent both rooms separately, but thought there may be need for larger groups to rent both rooms. This home is 18 & up :) Please keep in mind that this is our home and where we cook our meals and live full time so please limit kitchen use and wash, dry and put away dishes after use. One complimentary load of laundry each week is included in your stay. We both work from home most days, so we are usually around. We often work on projects in the living room and dining room, so sometimes those rooms are messy :) Your room and bathroom, however will be spotless on arrival. We have one fat cat Harper who most guests quickly grow to love. We do host dinner parties and get togethers sometimes, and will usually include guests in on the fun. We like to think we have a knack for attracting awesome renters, so the house usually has a pretty fun, communal atmosphere. The NeighborhoodIf you don't know Atlanta, you should know that it's very important to stay ITP (Inside The Perimeter) while here, or you're not really in Atlanta! Getting AroundThe MARTA bus stop is at one end of our street and the train station is at the other end (you can get there straight from the airport). We are between the Decatur and Avondale stops but much closer to Avondale. MARTA is NOT the most efficient way to get around this city, I would recommend Uber or Lyft, which unless you're going far, doesn't cost a lot more money and will get you there twice as fast. Other Things to NoteI occasionally (rarely) ask guests to feed Harper when I have a late rehearsal or if I go out of town for a few days. He is very easy. If this presents a problem for you, please let me know at the time of booking. Street parking is available ACROSS the street from my house. When you arrive, my house is the one with the picket fence, and entrance to the fence is on the driveway to the RIGHT of the house if you're facing it.

The SpaceThis sunny and clean, two-story loft offers a queen bed upstairs and a sofa/futon in the living area that converts into a full-size bed. The large kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, hot plate, coffee maker (no stove) and cafe seating for two (there is additional kitchen bar seating for two). A quaint rock garden outdoor space includes a patio table that seats four. Upstairs offers a wardrobe to hang clothes, plus four shelves. We also have an iron and ironing board. As of April 2016, the loft has a Roku TV with local channels, Netflix access, Amazon Prime access, Roku access, etc... (NOT cable TV) — and wifi service is available. The loft is best suited for adult guests — due to a large wall opening on the second floor (and a lack of baby-proofing measures) —the space isn't recommended for young children under 6 years of age. Guest AccessGuests will have full access to the studio except for a small sewing corner (upstairs) and a storage shelf (downstairs). The NeighborhoodWe are located within an 10-15 minute walk from downtown Decatur, known to locals as The Square. The Square is a bustling hub of retail, restaurants, arts and culture. Decatur is approximately a 25-minute drive to midtown Atlanta. We are located only 2 blocks from the Avondale Marta station. Getting AroundAn easy walk to downtown Decatur and a one-minute walk to the Avondale Marta Station. On-street parking for only ONE vehicle is available in front of our residence (must park close to the curb). Other Things to NoteOn street parking is available for ONE car only. The street is narrow and guests will need to park directly in front of our house and close to the curb. Additional cars may park overnight at the Avondale Marta station, 2 blocks away.

The SpaceThis room is in a craftsman style home in fantastic Oakhurst. Our home is on a quiet street in the middle of several fun neighborhoods and has a cozy style decor. A spacious porch and backyard, eat-in kitchen, fresh coffee, and cozy nooks are all yours to enjoy. You are just a short trip away from Atlanta's coolest neighborhoods. Check out the pictures and feel free to message us with any questions. We love our home and want you to enjoy it! Guest AccessGuests have full control of the bedroom, which has a desk and a great collection of books. You also have access to the living room, kitchen, spacious back porch, backyard, and shared bathroom. Guests are also welcome to use our washer, dryer and fridge. You'll have a key and be able to come in and out when you like. Interaction with GuestsDaniel and I are both friendly people-people, and we love Atlanta. We are here to welcome each guest. We appreciate that some guests may have a lot of questions and some guests like private time. That said, we'll be happy to tell you about our favorite spots, love answering questions, and will most likely be around for a cup of tea or some nibbles at some points during your stay. We are both fairly busy and so mostly out of the house during the day and often in the evening. The NeighborhoodOakhurst is one of the best neighborhoods in Decatur, and greater Atlanta more broadly. Stroll along the leafy streets and say hi to neighbors, check out great local digs like the Imperial Pub or Kavarna Coffeehouse. Pick up your next read in our mini-libraries located on almost every street. Getting AroundThere is plenty of street parking in our neighborhood, which is less than a 25 minute drive from most of the things that you want to do! We are an easy 10 minute drive to Emory, and 5 minutes to downtown Decatur. Downtown is a 40 minute bike ride and 25 minute drive. If you aren't driving, we are also bikable to the Atlanta Beltline and a host of other neighborhoods. If you are getting around on MARTA, Atlanta's public transit system, we are about a 7-minute walk to the East Lake Station. Other Things to NoteEvery airbnb listing is different and has its strengths and weaknesses. We put our energy into the overall positive experience of our guests which we believe is created by having friendly conversations, offering breakfasts and snacks, and giving advice on making the perfect trip to Atlanta. Our house is home to a snuggly feline, Ada Fay, as well as us. She does not go in the guest bedroom, so if you are not a cat fan, she shouldn't bother you.

With wall to wall carpeting, you feel the coziness the moment you walk in. Storage for whatever groceries you have is provided as well. This leads out to our peaceful fenced in outdoor space, complete with dinning & seating, tiki torches, and a gas grill. There are two separate couches, one located on the main level and one on the lower level as well. For those traveling with larger parties those are welcome to sleep on as well for a small additional fee. Just inquire. There is a dog that lives on the property so please let us know how you feel about dogs beforehand. She is super friendly and playful, and loves to interact with people so if you're not into that we will keep her out of your way for the duration of your stay. Guests can rest assured that help is only a text, call, or shout away. Contact information provided upon reservation. The NeighborhoodThe immediate surrounding area is peaceful and welcoming. The house is located on a cul-de-sac so not much traffic comes through, making it the ideal place to relax and get away from it all. Kroger and Publix are just a 3 min car ride away or a 15 min walk if you like to stretch your legs. A short walk up the road is Chapel Hill park which has a small lake that you can fish on. A bunch of fast food places are a nearby drive away. Once you arrive we will be happy to recommend all the best places to eat and visit while you're here . Getting AroundThere isn't much public transportation nearby, but an UberX ride to downtown/midtown is about $15-$20. If you have your own vehicle(s) parking at the house is not an issue as there is a driveway as well as curbside parking space. Other Things to NoteThe house is located about 20-25 min away from Downtown Atlanta, just outside the perimeter. Guests will receive a key to the door and their room upon check in. There is plenty of parking either in the driveway or along side the lawn, so large vehicles need not worry.

The SpacePrivate bedroom and bathroom. 10ft tall ceilings. Queen bed, shower/tub, and funky artwork! Located on the third floor, clean and spacious, and has incredible amounts of light throughout the day. Working, wood-burning fireplace. The space was recently renovated, nearly everything is new. Guests have access to the modern kitchen and washer/dryer as well as an on-site gym (weight machines, ellipticals, treadmills) and two on-site pools. We ask you to please take a look at the pictures carefully before you book. We try to advertise the apartment as fairly as possible, both in the pictures that we display, and in our use of the word "upscale." We list the apartment as upscale based on our experience of local apartments and the apartment complex's own listing. However, guests expecting a room belonging to a $400 5 start hotel will likely be disappointed, and everyone has a different interpretation of "upscale". The finishes of the apartment include carpet with laminate flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms, higher-quality faux granite countertops, and black kitchen appliances. Guests should expect a clean, welcoming apartment that is true to pictures! Guest AccessGuests will have access to all common areas including fully functional kitchen with all the amenities, living area with large television (hooked up to Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime), and a third-floor deck. Guests will be provided with a gate key that provides access to onsite gym and swimming pool. Interaction with GuestsWe would love to show you all the wonderful things Decatur and Atlanta have to offer, including great restaurants, parks, events, museums, theater and much more! Just let us know if you need anything, otherwise we'll stay out of your hair! The NeighborhoodLocated in beautiful Decatur, just a couple of minutes drive to charming Downtown Decatur. Right across from Emory's Clairmont campus our location is ideal for guests attending Emory events. .8 miles from the Toco Hills shopping area. Getting AroundParking is free and plentiful on location. We are on the free Emory Shuttle route that can take guests to Emory's main campus and from there to the Oxford Campus, Executive Park, Georgia Tech, and Emory Hospital Midtown. We are within walking distance of Toco Hills and Emory Commons, both of which have grocery stores and restaurants. We are also located on the Marta 19 bus route. Other Things to NoteWe have two well-behaved kitties. We pride ourselves on keeping the space as pristine as possible, but guests with cat allergies may not want to stay. We give guests a gate key for entrance, but guests will have to walk a short distance (less than 5 minutes) to let Ubers, cab drivers, delivery people, etc. through the gate. The space is on the third floor, without an elevator, so is not wheelchair accessible.

The SpaceMy apartment is the upper-floor of a small cottage behind the main house on the property. It is a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment with a large living room and large kitchen/eating space. This listing is for sleeping space on the couch or air mattress in the shared living room. Please note that the living room is the main room (first room from the entrance), and that the bathroom can only be accessed via my bedroom. Please ensure that you are comfortable with this arrangement, and that you ask any questions about this before booking. Walking/Driving times to nearby destinations/amenities: Emory University: 10-15min/5min CDC: 20min/5min Publix grocery store, liquor store, coffee shop: 20min/5min Downtown Decatur (nice shops, etc.): 30min/15min A perfect secluded refuge set in a bamboo forest. Guest AccessYou'll have full access to the apartment, including use of the shared laundry facilities (located in the main house), if needed. Your sleeping space will be the couch or an air mattress in the living room, and we'll share my bathroom (accessible only via my room). Interaction with GuestsVaries depending on the guest. I'm happy to include you in my (usually vegetarian) meal preparations, and to socialize during my downtime from classes/work if you'd like a more social visit. I'm equally happy to keep to myself if you'd like your own space. As you prefer! The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a lovely and quiet residential area with many families. There is a small park within a short walk, for guests with small children. Emory and the CDC are only a short (10-20min) walk away. Getting AroundAtlanta buses (MARTA) operate along North Decatur Rd. which is a short (5min) walk from the apartment. There are a number of amenities within a short walk, including a grocery store, pet store, gas stations, Emory and the CDC (all within a 20min or so walk), but driving/Uber is still your best bet for getting around in Atlanta. Downtown Decatur is a short (10min) drive away, and there you'll find many restaurants, shops and cafes, as well another grocery store, CVS pharmacy, post office, etc. To get here from the airport, Uber is definitely your best bet. It's cheaper than a cab ($20-$30), and much quicker than MARTA (public transit). One-way takes about 20-45min, depending on traffic. I would recommend Uber over public transit if you're tired, stressed, have a lot of luggage, don't want to walk more than 5min, or uncomfortable in new cities. If you'd like to take MARTA, it's not too complicated - just longer - and it will save you a bit of money, if that's your priority; a one trip ticket is $4.50, including the $1 cost of the "breeze" fare card. In the airport, make your way to Ground Transportation, then follow the signs for MARTA. Take either the Red or the Gold line from the airport to Midtown station (11th stop from the airport), then transfer to the #6 bus and take that all the way to North Decatur Rd. and Ridgewood Dr. (about 20min - just past Emory - ask the driver if s/he can let you know when it's that stop, or pay attention for an announcement for Clifton Rd. - Ridgewood is two blocks after Clifton, right as you reach the top of the hill). Get off the bus at Ridgewood Dr. and walk down the hill (i.e., don't cross North Decatur Rd.). Keep walking (about 2 blocks / 5min) until you get to my address. On weekdays, the whole trip usually takes about 1.5hrs. When I'm not in a hurry, this is my preferred means of transport because you get to see more of Atlanta than you do from the highway (the Uber route). It's definitely not for everyone, though. If you're not sure, please feel free to ask me for a suggestion for your particular case. I'm happy to make recommendations, given your needs. Depending on my schedule, I may also be able to come pick you up from the airport/drive you back for a nominal fee ($25). Please discuss this with me before booking, if interested. Other Things to NoteI live with two cats, so my place will not be a good choice for guests with allergies. Both felines are very friendly and completely nonviolent (one is skittish and can be shy around new people, but she's still quite friendly when you see her; the other is a big softie). I usually keep them in my room at night when I have guests, but guests should be aware that they may be noisy (scratching at the door at night, running around the room, etc.), as they are crepuscular creatures and are most active around bedtime.
