The SpaceThe Circle Garden Guest House is spacious (1100+ sq.ft), tranquil, comfortable, and very private with its own entrance and covered patio area for your use. The apartment is on a separate level from the rest of the house and includes a bedroom (king bed), bathroom with shower/tub, living/game room (comfortable full-size sleeper sofa sleeps 2), and TV room with large couch (comfortably sleeps 2 adults with twin-size futons, provided). Enjoy original artwork in every room--and views of the circle garden outside your space. Kitchenette area includes compact refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, microwave, dishes, and utensils. You will find a variety of breakfast items on hand: coffee/tea, granola/cereal, oatmeal, bagels, bread, milk, yoghurt, and fresh fruit (including seasonal fruit from our garden, when available). You are welcome to use anything in the kitchenette area during your stay. Guest AccessYou have a separate entrance and private access to the terrace level (bright, daylight basement). You have shared access to the laundry (upstairs), and back gardens/fire pit. Firewood for the fire pit is available in the fall and winter.
If you would like to do laundry, let us know and we'll show you how the machines work and where to find the detergent, etc.
Off-street parking for one car at the beginning of the driveway and a second space at the end of the driveway. Additional parking on the street in front of the house.
If we have guests staying before you, check-in is after 2pm. Otherwise, check in is flexible with advance coordination.
No-access areas: weaving room (basement) and all upstairs living areas (except shared laundry room). Interaction with GuestsWe live above the apartment and will do our best to meet you upon arrival and orient you to the space. After arrival, we are always available by phone or email and happy to answer questions or provide assistance, if needed. The NeighborhoodThis is a small, family-friendly neighborhood near Watkinsville in Oconee County Georgia. Watkinsville is a charming Southern town with a classic small-town main street including antique shops and art galleries. You are just a mile from historic Ashford Manor (B&B), local shops, and restaurants.
Local fare includes: Chops and Hops, Barberito's, Jittery Joe's Coffee Shop, Kiki's bakery, The Traveling Hobo Cafe, Girasoles, and Mirko Italian restaurants. Enjoy the local farmer's market downtown on Saturdays (spring through fall) for farm fresh produce, local honey, jams, homemade bread, etc.
Watkinsville is a regional artists' hub and hosts a variety of art events throughout the year, including "Perspectives," the largest pottery show in the southeast. The Oconee County Arts Foundation (OCAF) is a vibrant art center in downtown Watkinsville with frequent exhibitions.
Sunshine Cycles in Watkinsville hosts a weekly ride (BYO bike) along the beautiful country roads of Oconee County. And enjoy beautiful curated gardens (free entry) at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, just 10 minutes away by car. The garden also offers many miles of well-maintained hiking/walking trails though native piedmont hardwood forests and along the Oconee river. Getting AroundWe are 1 mile from downtown Watkinsville (20 min walk or very short drive). We are a 9-10 miles from UGA/Athens, and 1.5 hrs from downtown Atlanta. Uber serves Athens and is available to our area as well.
For UGA football games: free parking and free game-day stadium shuttle at the UGA Intramural Fields: 330 River Rd, Athens (8 mi from our house). Other Things to NoteWi-fi is included. Netflix, HBO, and DirecTV Now (100 channels) are also available in the TV room.
Quiet hours from 10pm - 7am. Normal activities and music/TV are fine at any time...but please be mindful of volume levels after 10pm. Sorry to have be specific, but this means: no foosball, high volume TV, loud conversations, etc. after 10pm.
Stays longer than a week are restricted to families, couples, or single guests (with no more than 2 cars). We will arrange times with you in advance to change the sheets/towels and replenish the kitchenette on a weekly basis.
Children of all ages are welcome. However, the space is not toddler proof and may not be suitable. There are games with small pieces; no child locks on cabinets and drawers in the kitchenette/bathroom; accessible cleaning supplies in bathroom cabinet; etc.
