DirectTV cable service, Wifi. Parking in front of deck. Washer/dryer, ironing board, iron in laundry room near the Green Cottage which is up the steps to the left of the drive.
Excellent location, private, easy to find. Tropical gulch on one side & great ocean view from the deck. You can walk to town, short drive to Waipio Valley, 45 minutes to Hilo or Hapuna Beach, the best beach on the island. Just an 1.5 hrs to Kona. The famous Akaka Falls is about 20-25 minutes away. The Blue studio cottage is perfect for a couple but sleeps 4. The cottage is beside a gulch with rainy season waterfalls. We also have a Koi pond.The cottage does not have a stove/baking oven. It has a 2 burner hot plate, a microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, coffee pot, blender, electric frying pan, dishes, etc. No air conditioner, usually not needed. There is a ceiling fan and a portable fan. There is also a portable heater if needed. The toilet has a bidet attachment for better personal hygiene. There is a queen bed and a fold down futon sofa. Flat screen HDTV has Direct TV cable service. With the Smart DVD player you can access Netflix, Amazon, etc. Beach towels are provided
Washer/dryer, iron & ironing board are shared by two cottages and is located in a separate building. You will need your own laundry detergent. The garbage & recycling cans are beside the laundry. Feel free to pick the citrus when in season. This in not a B&B, no food provided. Minimum supplies, salt, pepper, some tea, coffee, sugar, possibly things other guests have left that I feel were good, clean & edible. There is also a hair dryer for your use.
We live between California and Hawaii so we may or may not be on island when you arrive but are always available by phone & email. If necessary, our local handyman, and/or housekeeper can handle urgent needs.
Great little town, friendly people, library, community pool, theater, great shops and restaurants and farmers market on the corner. Tennis and Golf are near by. Beach, Diving, Surfing, Hiking and Fishing are also easy day trips.
If you are not renting a car, for $2 you can take a bus to or from Hilo or Kona. Bicycle rentals are available and tours can be arranged.
There is an on demand hot water heater. The switch is on the wall by the mirror near the bathroom. You will get all the hot water you need in 10 minutes. Remember to shut it off if you will be out all day and when you leave. Coqui frogs make noise at night. Some people enjoy the sound. Do not feed the fish or the feral cats. Ceiling fan only, air conditioner not necessary, usually a nice breeze blowing. If the cottage feels damp because it has been raining a lot, there is a space heater that warms the place up nicely. 3 day minimum stay and Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) of 13.42% should be collected after your arrival/before you leave. The NeighborhoodThe cottage is on a small road, usually quiet, but very close to town. You can walk up to town with it is a little hilly. Getting AroundIt is best to have a car if you really want to see the whole island. Otherwise, there is a bus that goes to Kona and Hilo. Other tours can be arranged, including bike rentals. Other Things to NoteDon't feel the stray cat.
