The SpaceThe room is large, with vaulted ceiling, two private entrances, private full bathroom, & private lanai (porch). Decorated w Asian Art and Antiques from across SE Asia. With one queen bed and a sleeper sofa that is a size between a full and Queen, you settle in for a deep sleep after playing in the surf or hiking the ridges or jungle. Two large closets w shelves keep your belongings organized. You have your own small lanai and access to the pool in back and the Buddha Garden with hammock. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. The magic word is thoughtfulness. Free use of yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, snorkels, beach mats, umbrellas (beach & rain). Access to rent Kayaks, Bicycles, Body Boards (see 'Guest Access for rental rates). Parking is off street, right in front of studio, but outside security gate. Guest AccessGuests have access to the lanai/porch outside the French Doors of the unit. Access to BBQ grill. The also have access swimming pool and lanai by the pool, the hammocks in the Buddha Garden in the back, and the laundry in the main house (use once per 4 days stay please, conserve water and electricity, 3rd most expensive in the world, highest in US). You have free use of yoga mats, blocks & bolsters. I will provide bath towels, beach towels, daypack, cooler w blu ice packs, and beach mats. Upon request you can rent bicycles (3 mt, two cruisers), kayaks, surfboard, body boards. There is only one surfboard, a 9'3", and it rents for $20/day. Kayaks are $20/day (have a one person and a two person, same rate), also have straps and padding for car to carry them. Bikes are $10/day pp for 1 day, $8/day pp for 2-3 days, $6/day pp for 4 days, $30/week. Body boards are $4/day or 2 for $7/day. Always willing to work out a package deal if you want bikes and kayaks, or any combo - the more items and more days, the better the deal. Interaction with GuestsThis unit is separate from the main house so interaction is up to the guest(s). I work a lot, and travel a lot, so I am often not home, but when I am home, I am accessible to the guests, but also respect their privacy. I strive to be a gracious host and will do my best to meet your needs. The NeighborhoodEnchanted Lake is a safe, clean, & quiet neighborhood, out of the hustle/bustle of Waikiki, and it is even quieter than Kailua proper - though it is a stone's throw away. You can easily access 3 of the best beaches Oahu has to offer: Lanikai, Kailua, and Waimanalo. Getting AroundWe are located about 30 minutes from the airport. You can take a taxi but it is soooo expensive ($90). We offer a service for $45 when available- please inquire. Or I can recommend one of 3 airport transport services ranging in price from $55 to $60. Oahu has a bus system that has won an award - the bus stop is a 3 minute walk down Iana street. We also have bicycles for rent (cheap) and Kayaks as well. Other Things to NoteKailua is a great launching place to discover the entire island because it is cooler, quieter, greener, and less crowded than most of the island. Its a small island - I have raced around it on foot or a bike (112 miles). So it is easy to visit even the most remote corner (Ka'ena Point) and return in time for supper and sunset walk. Many guests who stay, do so for at least a week, and settle in, yet see the entire island. Every minute here is precious so you won't want to spend it moving from place to place because there is no need.

The SpaceThe house is in a very quiet and safe neighborhood - we have not locked our doors in 12 years. The Olomana Room (named after a mountain nearby) is a private room with a brand new Queen bed, 100% pima cotton sheets. The bathroom is right in the room (like in a hotel), it is yours and only yours, shower, sink, shelves, and commode. A swimming pool, large lanais (porches) await you. Lots of large windows throughout the house. The place hosts a large well equipped kitchen, wifi, high ceilings, and more. For the adventurous or those who like to kick back and lounge around the pool. Many guests have started with hikes to waterfalls, stand up paddling, kayaking, and then settled into lounging around the pool. Guest AccessGuests have parking right in front of the house. Guests have access to large kitchen, dining, and living rooms, laundry facilities (max once/4 days, Hawaii has most expensive electricity in the US, and high water bills); large lanais outside, swimming pool. In your room is a flat screen TV w plenty of DVDs (most guests know how to use the TV but if you de-program it then I sometimes cannot reconfigure it). There is a large kitchen, you will have half a large fridge for you. We have 4 bicycles for rent (very affordable) by day or week. Access to BBQ grill. Interaction with GuestsIn the house there is only myself and my 12 year old daughter, Lili, lives with me half-time. I used to rent out the 2 rooms, but I have had such a good time w Airbnb guests, I am interested in renting these rooms out to Airbnb only. However, I work a lot when in town, and travel at least one week per month. So when I am in the house you will see me in mornings, and a bit on weekends when I am not out bicycling, hiking, or doing yoga. Lili and I will play ukulele or mbira for you if you wish. On one night you stay, we have a tradition of making homemade ice cream, healthy style w coconut milk, or decadent w cream, and fruit of your choice. I have loads of guide books, maps, and brochures on things to do: everything from the Mokulua Islands, Byodo-In Temple, to Polynesian Cultural Center, to snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, and more... The NeighborhoodI love the quiet - so crystal quiet at night. It is on a dead end street so only residents use the street. It is extremely safe, we have not locked the doors in the 12 years I have lived here. I love the proximity to the best beaches in Hawaii- white sands that stretch on forever (Kailua, Lanikai, Waimanalo) and the small town peaceful feel of Kailua (far from the maddening crowds of Waikiki). Yet, in 25 minutes one can be in Waikiki for shopping or people watching, and can come home to the soothing silence, ahhh…. Getting AroundWe offer a shuttle pick up at the airport for $45, if available, and advance notice is given. Otherwise I can recommend 2-3 shuttle services whose prices range from $55-90. The Bus won a national award a few years back. It comes to the end of the street at Keolu, which is about a 3 minute walk. It can handle bicycles too. We offer bicycles for our guests, for rent, mountain bikes/ or cruiser type (see rates in Guest Access section). Other Things to NoteWe also rent "The Sunroom" on Airbnb, and seem to host a lot of Europeans. They will have their own bathroom, so you will have yours. So on occasion you might share the pool with those guests. The large second refrigerator is shared half/half with the other guests when they are present.

The Space“This feels more like a hidden resort!" one guest exclaimed. Kayak to offshore islands, hike to Maunawili Waterfalls, visit the serene Byodo-In Temple. Climb the Lanikai hills to see the sun rise over the Mokolua (twin) Islands. Do yoga in the yard, lanai, or living room – we have all the mats or accessories you need. Or just relax in the hammocks in under the he'e tree. Feel the aloha in this very large Sunny Bedroom in a large house. Situated on a dead end street, there is ample street parking and no through traffic. At night you hear the breeze and smell the plumerias and crown flowers. No horns, no revving motors, no motorbikes. Kailua is small enough for quiet, yet only 25 minutes to all the nightlife you could ask for in Waikiki. On the Windward side, Kailua is very green and cooler than the hotter Honolulu side. Kailua hosts the most beautiful white sand beaches of all the islands: Lanikai Beach is featured in many articles on the top 10 beaches of the world, Kailua beach is very long with white sand, and Waimanalo Beach is very long and even less crowded. There are several hiking trails very near: Maunawili Falls, Olomana Mountain, 'Pali' trail, Lanikai Pillbox. The room has a brand new Queen Size bed that most couples sleep in, and a second Single Bed for mates or family who travel together. It has sliding French doors, shelves, desk, vanity w mirror, ceiling fans, and nightlite. Plenty of plugs for charging your electronics. WIFI high-speed internet. Windows on 2 sides of the room open onto the pool and lanai so you can feel the windward breeze as you sleep. An important note - the bathroom is not directly attached to the room. It is on the other side of the living room; exclusively yours. Cool off in the 13,000 gallon swimming pool. Dolphins in the tile are very social. Relax in the hammocks in the Garden in back. Solar heated water for your showers. One-half a full sized refrigerator for storing your groceries. Limited use of washer/dryer (see house rules). You can eat on the garden lanai (porch) or in the dining room. The magic word is Mahalo. You have access to bicycles in good shape (lock em up plz), 2 ocean kayaks (one 2-person, one solo), rental rates are described in 'Guest Access' section. So you can bike to get coffee, shop, or go to the beach. But you might want to put the kayaks on top of your car and paddle to the nearby Flat Island off Kailua Beach or the twin Mokulua Islands off Lanikai Beach, both minutes nearby. You are very likely to see sea turtles as you paddle; take your camera. Be sure to stop at the famous Kalapawai Market for coffee and snacks. Green conscious hosts, please recycle. No Smoking. No cats or dogs (bird, fish, rhinos okay). Street parking right in front of house. Cable and WIFI high-speed internet. I love the view of the Lanikai mountain and the plumeria flowers in the neighborhood. A 2 minute walk brings you to the end of Iana St, where 'The Bus' stop is. The Bus has won awards for its convenience, modern buses (hybrids), and routes. It is quite easy to use; you can even put a bike on the front of the bus. We are a non smoking household, my 12 year old daughter (half-time) and myself. The magic word is Mahalo. If you are a smoker, kindly smoke out front on the far side of the garage - depending on the wind of course, downwind. Guest AccessWe provide bath towels, beach towels, beach mats, daypack, wifi, umbrellas, maps, and guidebooks gratis. Sunroom guests use Right Half of the full sized refrigerator in the pantry/laundry room. You have a designated cupboard for your dishes (which are dark green ceramic) on the right, above the coffee counter. Below on the right you have your own drawer with silverware that is unique to distinguish it from others. The other cupboards that are labeled contain the pots/pans/cooking utensils for guest use. You also get use of the coffee maker, coffee, teas, yoga mats, blocks & bolsters. Laundry facilities on premises - once per 4 days max. We have locks, some helmets, some bikes have basket. you do rent the bicycles, do not ride them in the ocean, nor on the beach. Lock them up with the locks provided - you are responsible for their safety as well as your own. We do have a few helmets available. PLEASE clean bikes before you go home (if needed, use Simple Green Cleaner in garage). The KAYAKS AND ALL GEAR should be RINSED THOROUGHLY on the lawn to the south of the garage, before putting away. The SpaceLilikoi House is a 3 bedroom two bath home. It has a large tropical back yard that is ready to lounge and play in. The large open kitchen is fully equipped with high end stainless steel appliances and top of the line cookware. You will be comfortable preparing family meals ranging from a simple cookout on the propane BBQ, to a six course dinner that would make bon Appetite proud! The master suite is large and airy with two ceiling fans and two exterior french doors that lead to the lush back yard. Sleep comfortably on the king sized bed with high end linens. The master bathroom has a large walk in glass shower, double sinks and plenty of counter space. The two guest bedrooms (queen size bed and two twin size bed kids room) are tastefully decorated with modern and comfortable island style decor. They share a whimsical yet sophisticated bath that has a shower tub, pedestal sink and a large vanity. The T.V. room opens to the backyard and patio areas and offers a day bed that is comfortable for snuggling up with the family for movies on the provided Netflix on the 60" flatscreen. The day bed can also sleep two more if needed. Lilikoi House has high ceilings and is very breezy. The tropical trade winds blow through the house keeping the entire space cool. The house hosts a more formal living room off of the designer kitchen and both interior and exterior dining areas. There are vegetable gardens there for your use as well. This home can be your home away from home while in Kailua. Lilikoi House is about a mile from 3 different grocery stores and the center of Kailua town. Kailua is a lovely beach community with cute shops and a mixture of kid friendly and more adult restaurants. We host 3 separate farmer's markets a week with spoils from fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, and prepared local foods. Lilikoi House is located 1 block to two separate Kailua Beach accesses (about a five minute stroll). We provide boogie boards, surfboards, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, sand toys, and bikes for your convenience. We hope that you choose to make Lilikoi House your home away from home while you enjoy your vacation in Kailua. The SpaceThis is the top floor of a charming cottage. I call this my home most of the year. (The bottom floor is occupied by quiet, permanent occupants and is not a vacation rental). There is an ocean view and mountain (sunset) view from this unit. The style is Hawaiian beach house décor with with a hint of French countryside. Guest AccessPrivate access to decks and the main part of the cottage which is the top floor including 1 bdrm, 1 bath living room, dining area and full kitchen. Washer and dryer in garage are shared. (A second bedroom will be locked off to store my personal items and will not be accessible to guests.) Interaction with GuestsI will most likely be out of town when my home is occupied for vacation rental, so our interaction will be minimal except as needed by phone or text or email. The Neighborhooda beach community with lots of opportunity to enjoy the sun and fun of stand up paddle boarding, surfing, site surfing, kayaking, swimming, with walking and biking paths. Many restaurants and shop in Kailua will add to the variety offered In this little town. Getting AroundThe public bus stops down the street. Best to have a car to get around in as the entire island has much to offer.

The SpaceWalk to nearby Kailua Beach.The Garden Suite has a bedroom and a living/ dining /kitchen room. Kitchenette has microwave, toaster oven, electric frying pan, half size refrigerator and blender. Paper towels, bath towels and beach towels are provided. It has a private entrance and a private bathroom with ocean blue tile floor shower. Queen size bed and queen size futon couch. The Garden Suite has it's own private garden area with a table for outdoor eating/living under a white shower tree. A charcoal grill is provided in the garden area. Beach chairs, a boogie board and beach mats are provided. Located 10 houses from Kailua Beach with beach access at Ka'apuni Street. Off street parking is provided. We are also located only 13 houses away from an Olympic sized public pool and tennis courts in the Kailua direction. Tropical trade winds bring cooling breezes almost all of the time. Ceiling fans are in the rooms. However, there is a quiet wall mounted split system AC. The Garden Suite is on the ground floor. For the chemically sensitive we disclose that we do employ a pesticide company. Note: We have been in business 25+ years. Cable TV, phone and Free Wifi are provided. $159-199 per night for a party of two. $20 per night/ per extra person. Note: Christmas and Holidays it rents for $179 per night. Jan. - Mar. $174 per night. Complementary FIRST morning breakfast provided in your room of muffins, fruit and juice coffee and tea. After the first mornings breakfast you are on your own to try Kailua's many breakfast spots. A major bus stop for The Bus is about 1/3 of a mile away from Kailua Sheffield House. It will carry you straight into town to Ala Moana shopping center. There are two laundromats down the street in Kailua Town for your laundry needs. The SpaceA separate structure behind main house. Main bedroom has a double bed but there is additional room w twin bed. Kitchenette has full refrigerator, double burner cook top, micro, toaster oven, coffee maker, your lanai is covered with a full size glass table and extra space to relax. Bathroom has a shower and all supplies....you don't need to pack hairdryer, or even sunscreen.You have washer and dryer (in car port area), cable TV with DVR, DVD/CD player, and wireless internet access. No smoking inside or outside the unit. The hillside behind the house is landscaped and provides a nice setting for extra outside relaxing space. We are a 6 minute drive to Kailua beach, 6 minute drive to Waimanalo beaches. (Not walking distance) Located in a quiet residential neighborhood near Enchanted Lake. Access to beach chairs, beach towels, beach supplies and equipment. A queen bed, which comfortably accommodates two guests, sits atop a rustic platform with plenty of space underneath to tuck your luggage out of the way during your stay. The bathroom has a shower and a small closet to hang your clothes. We provide towels, including beach towels, shampoo, soap, blowdryer, iron and ironing board. Use the granite countertop to prepare your breakfast or snack. A small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker are available for your use. Plates, bowls, cups, utensils, can/bottle opener, wine glasses, cutting board, dish soap/sponge, and kitchen towels are provided. We are happy to welcome our guests with seasonal fruit, including organic mangoes and papayas from our own trees. The bay is protected by an off-shore reef and is ideal for swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, kiteboarding, bodyboarding and surfing. Kailua bay is a renowned windsurfing and kiteboarding spot. The SpaceAloha, come and relax at our tropical Kailua home located in one of Kailua's finest neighborhoods. Kailua Beach hale is located across the street from the beach access (300 feet to the access and about 700 feet to the waters edge) to a quiet sandy section of Kailua beach. It is a great spot for boogie boarding and snorkeling. Use the kayak, boogie boards and snorkel gear to cruise Kailua bay. Towels and beach chairs provided. We also have two bikes for you to explore the area, just a mile to Kailua town. The hale has an open air design, with high ceilings and plenty of windows. The wall dividing the living room and the bedroom does not reach the ceiling as it is a high domed ceiling. It has a modern kitchen with dishwasher and a washer/dryer in the bathroom. Enjoy your coffee in a tropical garden area with comfortable chairs and patio table. The living room has a flat screen TV and DVD player with cable and free WiFi internet available. The living room also has a single size bench seat that can be used as a bed for 1 small person. A playpen is available for little ones. No sofa/bed. The unit has a common wall with the main house but against a storage area so you have complete privacy without feeling like you have a neighbor. You entrance and yard are on a seperate street from the main house giving the cottage a feel of being on it's own. Kailua is great for snorkeling, kayaking, biking, swimming, diving, windsurfing, boogie boarding, surfing, paragliding or enjoying a good book. The property is very private, fully gated and has 1 parking space and a private entrance. Being close to a popular beach you can hear some car noises durring the day, although the beach is sparsley populated compared to Waikiki. Kailua beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. It has something for everyone. Kailua town has great restaurants, lots of shopping and is away from the Waikiki crowds. There are plenty of supermarkets close by for groceries. You do not have to drive round and round in a parking garage . You do not have to wait for an elevator to go to your room. The Sheffield House Ginger Studio has a breakfast bar with a microwave, toaster oven and a coffee maker and under counter refrigerator. There is enough cooking supplies for light food preparation such as: to fix a cup of coffee, or microwave something, or put sodas in the frig. A grinder and coffee beans are provided if you want a very fresh cup. We put a complementary FIRST morning's breakfast in the room for you to enjoy on your own schedule. It is Kailua lodging with a cool, sunshine lit room with windows opening to a bank of Areca palms. There is a "Secret Garden" with a place outside for you to sit and enjoy the balmy Hawaiian air. Just outside the door in the garden, is a bubbling fountain in a Chinese steamer pot. There is a comfortable queen size bed. There is a bookshelf built into the wall with enough books to please any bibliophile: Hawaiiana, children's books, self help, beach reading, mystery, and more. The beach is calling and a boogie board is available and there are activities galore, a perfect Hawaii vacation. Bath towels, beach towels and paper towels are provided. There is a hairdryer provided. There is a charcoal grill in the secret garden area. Kailua Beach access is at Kaapuni Loop by Sheffield House is a perfect boogie board spot. There is an Olympic sized pool behind the fire station which is 13 houses toward town which is available free of charge for your use. The Ginger Studio is a self contained vacation rental with everything there that you might need. The bathroom has a shower but no tub. While there is quiet wall mounted split system AC; with the tropical trade winds and a ceiling fan you often do not need the AC. It is a ground floor unit. A single bed can be added to this room so it can sleep three. It has a private entrance and a private bath. The breakfast bar has a microwave, coffeemaker, blender and under counter refrigerator. We do provide a complementary first morning's breakfast of pastry, cereal, coffee tea, juice. We do use pest control. A major bus stop for The Bus is 1/3 of a mile away. Walk into Kailua Town and have a piece of pizza or try a different coffee or smoothie every day: Morning Brew, Lanikai Juice or Cinnamon's are waiting. The location of the Ginger Studio between Kailua Town and Kailua Beach is just about perfect. Paul and Rachel live and work on the property. We are both talkers, however, we have finally come to the realization that people are in Hawaii to vacation and we do respect your privacy. Yes, we provide clothing irons and a hair dryer. Yes, we provide beach towels. Yes, there is free high speed wifi. Better than most hotels that charge for the service. And no, there is no charge for parking. There are two laundromats down the street from us. One behind McDonalds and the other is across the street from the Kailua Pub. Chen's Store right down the street provides computers , fax internet access , and computer printing services. It is right next to Bowles Burritos. (I know I listed the restaurants beside the tasks.) Your bedrooms have large closets with mirror sliding doors and ceiling fans. The master bedroom comes with a Samsung 32" LCD TV with digital cable.         The SpaceOur cottage is bright and airy with a lovely backyard. It has two nice size bedrooms. It is perfect for a small family on a great vacation. The base price is for two adults and two children. Each adult is an additional $20.00 per night. The cottage has a comfortable size living room with cable TV and Netflix. We also have free Wi-Fi for your stay. The kitchen table is located so that you can watch TV. The backyard is a great space to wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the two beds in the bedrooms, one is a queen and the other is a full. If you would like to have access to the futon as a bed it will be an additional $40.00 per visit. Guests will have access to a relaxing backyard with a table for eating, drinking your favorite tropical drink, or reading before you take off for an adventure. The backyard is a common area, but my kids mostly hang out in the front playing with their friends on the street. We also have everything you need for a day at the beach: chairs, masks, boogie boards, cooler bag, and sand toys. I have also stocked one of the bedrooms with toys, books, and games for kids. I also have a pack and play for infants available. We also have extra scooters and bikes that the kids can ride around on our dead end street. The kitchen has everything you need to cook or bake your meals. Interaction with GuestsMy interaction is up to you. I am here for you to ask questions and provide insight into my favorite spots. Otherwise, I try to give you your space. The NeighborhoodOur cottage is located in one of the original Kailua Town neighborhoods called Coconut Gove. It is a very safe, quiet,and kid friendly neighborhood. You will see kids on skateboards with surfboard in tow on their way to the beach. When I ride to the beach I feel as if I have gone back in time when life was more simple. People here stop to let you cross the street. We are also close to our quaint downtown area that boasts some of the best local boutiques, art galleries, and shops. We also have Wholefoods, Safeway, Foodland, and other specialty markets within a three minute drive. Getting AroundAs a guest you are provided with one parking space at the property. The street that we live on does not have any public parking. Oahu has one of the best public bus systems in the nation. You can get almost anywhere on the island from a bus stop conveniently located a block away. We also have taxis. Other Things to Note GET / TAT GET / TAT Hawaii General Excise Tax (GET - currently 4.712%) must be paid on ALL gross rents collected by any person renting real property in the State of Hawaii. Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT - currently 9.25%) must be paid on rents collected for transient accommodations (defined as tenancy for less than 180 consecutive days).
