The SpaceTwo private bedrooms available in a home with a small permaculture farm. Friendly hosts and great cook make any visit a pleasure. Molokai is an unusual island with deserted beaches and a strong local culture. It is the least spoiled and commercial of all the islands in Hawaii. Everything is very low key and laid back. There isvery little traffic on the island, and no traffic lights, just a few stop signs. It has the tallest waterfall, the longest, most pristine white sand beach in all the islands, and the Kamakou Preserve, a rain forest maintained by the Nature Conservancy. You can use this home as your base to explore the entire island because we are centrally located on the south shore of the island. Life in Molokai can be too quiet for some people! There are very few restaurants, and little to no night life. There is live music at the Molokai hotel and on weekends there are additional venues. It is different, as the primary mission of Molokai residents, the majority of whom are Hawaiian, is to re-weave the thread that connects them to their extraordinary past. Our neighborhood is a development of two acre lots on the East Side of the island. Not too far is the town of Kaunankakai, which has a few grocery stores, a couple of art galleries with wonderful artwork, a hardware store, a wonderful ice cream store called Dave's, a bicycle shop, a dive store, etc., and Kalele Bookstore with the world's friendliest owner who holds all sorts of special interest events such as monthly film screenings, and book signings, etc. Because we are not within walking distance of good swimming beaches, markets, and restaurant, please be sure that a rental car is available before you book with us. Rental cars are available through Alamo and (website hidden). Fyi you may also use the free commute bus system, the schedule for which can be found by searching Molokai MEO for the county of Maui. Also we have limited refrigerator space and generally do not make our kitchen and fridge available to guests. We do make space for guests to put away a few items in the fridge for their lunches or beer, wine, etc. Guest AccessWe do enjoy it if you join us for a chat in the living room in the evening or watch some TV if we are doing that. The lanai with views of Lanai and Maui is a shared space. Guests are very welcome to sit on the lanai at any time. We do not expect guests to use the kitchen except to make sandwiches for lunch before heading out for the day. Interaction with GuestsWe like to interact with guests in the morning before they leave for the day and after they return from dinner in town.once in a while we might all go to the beach together or a hike but that does not happen with every guest because our schedules don't always permit that. The NeighborhoodAll the homes in our neighborhood on 2 acres each. It is a lovely residential neighborhood. Getting AroundWe live up a pretty steep hill hence the need for a car but there is a public MEO bus that runs back and forth on the main ocean frontage road. You can donate a dollar or two and take that. Other Things to NoteWe do charge extra for people other than a couple. Each room is charged at a $100 per night if there are two single people requiring separate rooms.

The SpaceAloha My name is Kalawai, I am 22 years old and I was born on Molokai. I am currently away at college in England. My mom, Clare Seeger Mawae, sister (Josie) 16yrs and brother (Alex) 14 yrs still reside on Molokai and we have to come up with some creative fundraising ideas to one keep me in college and two pay for my siblings extras. My mom is single parent and hard working juggling work schedules just so that she can give us the opportunities that we so want. She was the youngest finisher of Britain’s first London Marathon in 3hrs and 49 mins, with only 6 weeks of training at the age of 15. My mom competed in running, snow skiing, swimming, biathlons, triathlons(swimming running and pistol shooting), and sailing events in the International Cadet, Firefly and the Olympic 470 class. Mom’s love of the outdoors was at a tender age of three, with camping expeditions in the Malaysian jungle, driving overland from Calcutta, India, back to England at the age of six, and celebrating her birthday by roaming the hills of Afganistan. My mom’s Holidays with her family would be walking in the English countryside and sleeping under stars, spending a Christmas on top of Ben Nevis (Britain's highest mountain) testing out mountain equipment, exploring the regions of Oman especially the Jebal Akdar, the Basque mountain region in Northern Spain, camping on skiing holidays, exploring the European Alps in the summer and skiing them in the winter. So it goes to say my mom’s adventurous spirit has been passed down to us and we need to figure out how to help out. So my siblings and I have decided we would take on this project of letting people stay in our bedrooms so that we can fundraise. We are by no means a vacation rental or bed and breakfast. I handle the ideas since I am in England but I will listen to Josie and Alex for input and my siblings are the housekeepers. My mom has a company to handle creative fundraising ideas along with marketing and management so this is how we do it. You come and stay in my room, you become a sponsor…We hope you enjoy your stay and please you have Josie and Alex to go to for any questions you have. . The room comes with the use of the house, the yard, kayak at the harbor, boogie boards, snorkel equipment and discounted activities with your own personal concierge at Molokai Outdoor Activities, the longest running activity and tour company that stays tune with the spirit of Molokai. Molokai Outdoor Activities is owned by mum, Clare and was started in 1999 by Clare on a handful of change. Sometimes there is a car available that is a $35 donation, again part of the sponsor agreement... More pics to follow of the house and yard...... The room has an oversized ceiling fan to keep you cool, a microwave, toaster oven, 2 ring burner, fridge, and wireless internet access. There is also your own bathroom that comes with the room. US phone calls are complimentary. We hope you will enjoy staying in the room, and there is also access to the yard and garden and the home if you plan to cook at the hale... BBQ area coming soon.....However the main kitchen since it is in the main part of the home has an 8.30 pm curfew and no cooking until 7am. However Kalawai's room has the gadgets to prepare meals. The hale is a few minutes from Hotel Molokai heading East and very well located. The yard and garden is an ongoing project about 3/4 acre to bring relaxation and joy for your stay on our beautiful island of Molokai, the birthplace of Kalawai and her sister (Kawailelemakalani) 16 years old, and brother (Kukunaokala) 14 yrs old who have all been immersed in the Hawaiian language and culture. Need we say more that we hope to make your stay memorable and pleasurable on our beautiful island of Molokai... We have been blessed with all of our guests that have come to our home in support of us and those who give us encouragement into fulfilling and attaining our goals. Our home is our home and one that is always in progress but the children have put their hearts into making our home a pleasant experience during your stay on Molokai. We are in on Molokai so thought we should mention that like Kauai we have the jungle fowl (chickens) running around the island and so instead of traffic we get to hear roosters crow in the morning..For many it is not a problem. Perfect alarm clock to get up and enjoy the day!! Our neighbors are awesome all around us.. Some have dogs but they are good and keep in their own yards..We have cats and one puppy called Rosie. Rosie is the most sociable dog and loves our visitors. Mahalo for your support and consideration of myself Kalawai (kaela) Kawailele (Josie) and Kukunaokala. (Alex)…We go by either our Hawaiian or English names/ Aloha, Kalawai Guest AccessWi FI and to be part of our home. The user name is houseguest so if we are not home you can log in instantly to Mawae's guest network or Clare Mawae's guest network. We have a huge yard, so plenty of quiet spots for your enjoyment. We are in the process of setting up little privacy spots in the yard so you can relax when not out exploring the island. Interaction with GuestsWe love to interact with our guests when we are home..We have had many evenings where we cook together. We enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world. Every guest plays an important role in contributing to their future endeavors as a sponsor through CSM. The NeighborhoodOur neighbors are awesome and we are lucky to be living where we do.. We do have many chickens so be prepared for the rooster that crows. Chickens are every where on the island and hard to not escape the crow of the rooster where ever you are...Sure beats the business of the city! Our neighbors also have dogs but they all stay in their own yards. I know some people have a fear of dogs but they do not come into our (URL HIDDEN) you are good there....Hey the cats will protect you!! We do have our puppy Rosie...and she is wonderful! Getting AroundThere is a public bus service called MEO . The schedule is online so please look at it if you are not renting a car. (URL HIDDEN) The bus service is limited but the bus will stop infant of our home, down below by the road. Other Things to NoteWe do recommend renting a car as it can be hard to get to where you want to go with out relying on schedules and other people that can perhaps give you rides.

The SpaceHoa Hele is a boat that was donated Clare Mawae for Youth in Motion. However Alex Mawae her son has taken this as one of his personal projects to use the boat as his fundraising for paddling events and to get her seaworthy again to make trips to Maui. The boat is very basic and Alex is asking that you help him with a little time each day in trying to get her back out to sea . Right now we need the engines to work and that is the big problem and then we need to get the rigging sorted. All the money from this boat is going to Alex’s paddling and helping to maintain the basics to keep Hoa Hele at her slip here in Kaunakakai. Guest AccessBathrooms at the harbor and all the gear from youth in motion - stand up paddle boards and kayaks. Please contact my mum, Clare before going to the boat. We need every one to fill out Youth in Motion membership forms or you can go on line and fill this way, print and bring to us... There's nothing else like it! Some will say it’s 'awesome', others have called it 'amazing', the Hawaiians would say 'No Ka Oi' (the best). Hale No Ka Oi is simply the best home away from home you will find in Molokai and perhaps anywhere in the Hawaiian Islands. This is a top floor suite with stunning views over the ocean to the island of Lanai. This is a heavenly, restful retreat for the mind and body. The ideal central location of this condo is convenient, allowing you to avoid those long 45 minute trips to the east or west ends of the island. Just a short drive from the airport and only minutes into town. The perfect central location on Molokai if you want to enjoy the white sand beaches of the west end or the lush, rugged east end. An oasis of luxury awaits you with the blending of rich cherry and gleaming marble floors. The bathroom is almost sinful with its oversized, dual head, marble and glass shower and double sinks. The cherry kitchen is exquisite with granite counter tops and premium stainless steel appliances and equipped to please even the most discriminating chef. Everything inside is of the finest quality available, including the finest linens, house wares, electronics and European leather furnishings. This is not one of those condos that still sports 20+ year-old rattan furniture. This is the "Ultimate In Accommodations". The Master bedroom features a Cal King bed with direct access to the bath. The large loft bedroom features a Queen bed, leather loveseat and absolute privacy. The custom engineered, stainless steel, spiral staircase is a work of art by a German craftsman, Josef Linzen. Whether you are two, three or four, you will love this place. The perfect location for your honeymoon, anniversary or for any other excuse you can find! The property is impeccably maintained and there is a large oceanfront pool. There are BBQ grills for your fresh fish or your favorite steak. Activities abound on Molokai. This truly is nature’s playground. Kayak miles of pristine reefs, take a guided hike into the tropical beauty of the Halawa valley with its magnificent waterfall or take a journey down to historic Kalaupapa. You can ride horseback through the fields at Molokai Ranch or along miles of nearly deserted white sand beaches. This is the Hawaii of yesterday, a refreshing step back in time. Best of all, you will meet the people of Molokai and come to understand why it’s called 'The Friendly Isle'. Walk into town on a Saturday and see the vendors with their sidewalk displays of crafts, art, fruits and vegetables. The weather is perfect. The days are sublime and your mind will relax on island time! Less than a mile from town, and directly on the ocean front, this condo has one of the best views on the island. The edge of the shore is literally less than 50 feet in front of the lanai. The sunsets over the ocean can be just stunning. The is also the most central location on the island, so if you wish to venture out to the east or west ends of the island, you are already at least half way to where you're going.

(We also offer 2 bedrooms as a separate listing under Spectacular Ocean View (one with a queen size bed and the 2nd with two single beds) Molokai is an unusual island with deserted beaches and a strong local culture. It is the least spoiled and commercial of all the islands in Hawaii. Everything is very low key and laid back. There is very little traffic on the island, and no traffic lights, just a few stop signs. It has the tallest waterfall, the longest, most pristine white sand beach in all the islands, and the Kamakou Preserve, a rain forest maintained by the Nature Conservancy. You can use this home as your base to explore the entire island because we are centrally located on the south shore of the island, 4.5 miles east of the town of Kaunakakai. Molokai is known as "The Friendly Isle." It is also considered the most Hawaiian island. Like stepping back in time 50 years, you won't find traffic lights, elevators, malls, glitz, or night life. If you're looking for rural place for relaxation, snorkeling, beautiful ocean views, quiet beaches, and old Hawaii, you'll find it on Molokai. Some say "only on Molokai", we say "always on Molokai" Come find out why. Molokai is the smallest of the main Hawaiian chain; 38 miles long and only 10 to 15 miles wide. Its west side is arid and dry we beaches the winter great for surfing not for swimming and summer the beaches are calm for snorkeling and swimming The eastern side is more lush and tropical with miles of barrier reef in front. Molokai's north side is famous for having the world's highest sea cliffs which rise some 3000 feet out of the ocean. The 2774-acre Kamakou Forest Preserve on Molokai overlooks these sea cliffs and is home to endangered birds and over 200 Hawaiian plants that grow only in this preserve. Molokai South side is where you will find our main town of Kaunakakai and has a handful tourist and art shops, two full service grocery markets, a health food store, a bakery, and even a wine and cheese shop. You'll also find some shopping in the villages of Kualapu'u and Maunaloa.
