This site is located in an area of Hawaii that has the world's longest active volcano lava flow. A large section of this Hawaiian property consists of a huge volcanic crater estimated to be about 200 years old. We are located close to the Kilauea Lava Flow. It is truly an amazing spectacle of Mother Nature; a side of a mountain on fire and slowly oozing into the ocean - fire and water in a never-ending clash of steam.

The Ma’ukele Lodge consists of three unique bedrooms with private baths and King and Queen sized beds, in a late 1960’s Hawaiian and Bohemian styled beach house. Kaimu literally means gathering (at the) sea (to watch surfing) or silent sea. It was a small town in the Puna district that is still designated as the most famous and photographed black sand beach in Hawaii. The beach, several great surf sites, and park were completely destroyed by an eruptive flow of the Kupaianaha vent of the Kilauea Volcano in 1990. It is fascinating to view the Lava flowing into the sea from the black sand beach that fronts the Lodge, when it is activel above ground. Through storms, Lava flows and high waves, the beach has changed its form, making one realize the dynamics and power of Nature that affects this still pristine coastline..Route 137, off of which Ma'ukele Lodge is located, has the unique feature of many hot springs and crystal clear snorkling spots with a large variety of fish, turtles, dolphins, and coral reefs. E komo mai..The lava viewing is spectacular from my beach!

Interaction with GuestsHaving had much luck with AirBnB's more EXEMPLARY guests, we are blessed to have you stay here with us. It is mine and Michaels' goal to interact as much (or as little) with you as is necessary, and hope our relationship is fun, informative and mutually beneficial. No more and no less. The NeighborhoodHere is a recent quote from one of our guests: "This is probably the coolest house in the coolest neighborhood on the Big Island. You'll be in the Seaview neighborhood, a block from the lava rock shore. Seaview is filled with friendly island folks and retired hippies who say "Aloha" when they pass you, and most everyone knows the Triangle House complex. Some people know it as the " Cheese House," because it looks like a wedge of Swiss cheese lying on its side, with each stained glass window a hole. You're living in a gorgeous jungle, with great ocean access, a plethora of interesting artists, and alternative living folk, with the best neighborhood spirit I've seen. Every Wednesday, practically the whole community of the Puna district ends up at a bazaar on the edge of civilization where the 1970 lava flow literally rolled over the city of Kalapana, called "Uncle Roberts at the End of the Road." I don't know a better way to say hello to a new community than that. Randall is a great owner/manager. He's a craftsman who cares a lot about the building, and has improved its' initial design for the people who stay in it. MIchael, the onsite Innkeeper, is super easy to work with. He's been doing constant gardening and upkeep on the property. It was designed by an architect who had a dream about "round holes and square pegs" and designed a property with a Triangle house, a Rectangle house, a Circle shaped water catchment, and two Square sheds. There's also a real life castle one block away. It's like living in a dream." Getting AroundThere is very limited public transportation here. A bus to and from Pahoa town, and/or Hilo city runs through the area only one block away, but only twice a day. It is definitely suggest that you rent a vehicle for your commute, but more daring folks will hitchhike or walk. Hitchhiking is technically illegal, but is not frowned upon by most locals. Other Things to NotePlease visit (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) for a very good list of the events happening within the immediate area. Kehena black sand beach is only 15 minutes of walking away(URL HIDDEN)Nearby natural hot springs and tide pools offer awesome snorkeling, soaking and swimming in safe warm water, right at the ocean's edge. You can explore the old Hawaiian town of Pahoa a twenty minutes drive away with its wooden board walks, many restaurants, and markets. Kalani Ocean side retreat is just a short walk or two minute drive away offering meals, massages and use of their pools and sauna for very reasonable rates. The neighbors and "locals" in Kalapana Sea View as well as the surrounding areas are relaxed, helpful, and friendly, and I have found, will always give excellent tips on the best current things to do in the local area. So don't be afraid to schmooze a little. At the southwest end of 137, the Red Road, you will find the Kaimu Corner Kountry Store, with most eveything you need locally, beer, food, wine, groceries, local produce and meat. AND don't miss Uncle Robert's Awa Bar and Club next door for a unique island experience filled with music, dance, food and local crafts on Wednesdays nights, with a smaller version of the market Saturday mornings. Kanaka music nights happen on Friday and Saturday evenings. We can also offer local guide services to show you into the hard to get to and little-known killer spots for very reasonable rates. Rates will vary depending on group size, transportation, difficulty, outfitting and duration. Please feel free to inquire. We also offer pickup at the Hilo airport for $45 for up to three people and light luggage. W(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

Halema’uma’u Crater has been active for several years and can be viewed from within Volcanoes National Park, which is forty-five minutes from the house. Pahoa Town is 10 minutes away with quaint shops and delicious dining. The SpaceAloha from Kehena Beach House(URL HIDDEN) Precariously perched high on a lush tropical sea cliff amid a mature coconut forest at the ocean's absolute edge stands this extremely private and totally remodeled electrically gated, secure romantic escape for two which was designed with purely indulgent luxury in mind in every gorgeous detail. The unobstructed panoramic views of Kehena Black sand beach and bay that one can enjoy from the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and both of the covered and uncovered open air oceanfront lanais (decks) coupled with the Tommy Bahama style high end designer furnishings and the 100% Turkish travertine tiled floors that extends to the dramatic upper level lanai with glass railing is guaranteed to leave you in awe. The privileged guests of Kehena Beach House will be treated to the only private residence in this quaint coastal beach community that has no immediate neighbor on either side and has the only in ground oceanfront pool. The beach house overlooks the beach to the left and it overlooks the coconut forest and the agricultural half acre parcel that adjoins the beach house to the right. The agricultural parcel is maintained by the developer to grow pineapple, sweet Hawaiian apple bananas, citrus, fragrant flowers and various species of native plants. It is not occupied or accessible, but it incorporates the 6 foot high lava rock walls that encircle the entire compound of which you are the only guests. Upon your arrival , you will notice that the oceanfront block is secured with 6 foot lava rock walls adorned with a series of elaborate artistic copper gates and matching light fixtures. All were custom designed by famed Honolulu based french sculptor Frederic Zimmer. The entry pillars of the series of gates will be automatically illuminated throughout each evening for your convenience and security. 4 motion sensor lights will provide ample lighting along the street side of the the beach house as well as on the meticulously maintained professionally landscaped yard with a sprawling lawn that greets you with a large variety of colorful and flowering pleasantly scented tropical fauna as well as a cozy hammock that hangs beneath a pair of coconut trees. A spectacular young banyan tree, for which the island is well known, is a central fixture to the front yard. A private garden of exotic fruit trees and over twenty different varieties of flowering heliconia is situated across the street, caticornered to the beach house. Many of the cut flowers found inside of the beach house are, in fact, grown on site. There is a large open air deck at the front door where you can enjoy the view of both the magnificent gardens and the rocky blue pacific ocean from the comfortable Thomasville crafted glass top outdoor table with cushioned seating for up to four. The one thousand square foot beach house features a tropical themed bedroom with a California king bed and a den that views both the pool and the ocean on the lower level. Both rooms access the covered oceanfront lower level lanai through sliding glass doors and directly view the ever-changing seascape of the blue pacific ocean. The bathroom is wrapped in Turkish travertine tile with a glass block shower with a massage feature. The toilet seat is heated and has a built in wash let with both washer and dryer apparatus. A washer and dryer is located adjacent to the bedroom. Upstairs you will encounter a great room concept with a fully equipped kitchen with all modern stainless steel appliances (refrigerator with ice maker, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, disposal), solid granite counter tops. An over sized bistro table capable of seating up to four abuts the kitchen. The living room has 2 large sofas with an ottoman and a large flat screen wall mounted TV with DVD player that can also be viewed from the dining area. Dish network provides access to over 250 channels. WiFi is provided at no extra charge. A private phone line with free unlimited calls to anywhere in the 50 united states is provided. The upper level has designer ceiling fans and a series of sliding glass doors that permit the cooling trade winds to offer excellent cross ventilation. The two oceanfront decks provide dramatic direct viewing of the roaring pacific ocean which is literally crashing below your feet against the 50 foot rocky sea cliffs. It is also an excellent place to sunbathe in the buff. There is no disturbance of noisy neighbors or traffic on this cul de sac which is Kehena beach estate's most exclusive enclave of private gated absolute oceanfront residences. The custom in ground oceanfront pool that abuts the beach house can either be accessed directly from the covered oceanfront lower level deck, or from the lava rock style stepping stones that one encounters in the front yard gardens that lead to a gated 6 foot lava rock wall. The lava rock style concrete pool is a work of art unto itself. It is situated within an exotic tropical garden where a variety of fragrant flowering tropical plants such as gardenia, Queen Emma's lily, Tonga taboo and the ever popular Hawaiian Puakenekene flourish. The pool has a keyed entry via an electrically operated canvas cover that promotes the efficiency of the solar powered heated water to the pool when it is not in use. The pool features a Fastlane device by endless pools which provides one with the option to swim in place at one's desired pace at the touch of a button. Additionally, there is an underwater light for night time use of the pool and a poolside switch to turn on the soothing jets. The pool is so private that one can skinny dip in complete privacy and concurrently enjoy the view at the ocean's edge. It is hoped by the developer of Kehena Beach House that you have been provided with a helpful and accurate portrayal of what precisely you might encounter if you elect to visit here at this splendid one of a kind honeymooner's delight. We look forward to assisting you in enjoying a most memorable , relaxing, yet adventurous visit to one of the world's most intriguing and scenic land and sea scapes and are confident of your return patronage and referral to your friends, family, acquaintances and colleagues. The SpacePua Mana offers a beautifully rustic cabin for visitors to our special place on the island. Large screened redwood room (16'x 20') with new lanai and separate kitchen equipped with all you need for simple cooking. Double (full) bed and bedding, closet, basically furnished. There is also a single bed which can be used as a couch or for a pre- approved child. (note: the cabin is generally not appropriate for children under 8. Please specify if you have a child and what age) Off-grid solar-powered 25 year old permaculture homestead with a huge variety of tropical fruit trees, coconuts, bananas, fragrant flowers and exotic ornamentals. Separate bathroom facilities and shower in an outdoor enchanted fairyland setting under Angel's Trumpet flowers that open their fragrance in the evening. The solar Freezer is a short walk from the jungalow by the main house where you can get ice for the cooler in your kitchen. There is no refrigerator in the jungalow. The main house, where my tenant currently lives ( and I sometimes visit), is close by, but private with tall plants between the houses. The separate bathroom/shower facilities are shared with the main house; there is adequate privacy and we can work around each others' showering schedules. The shower under the giant monkeypod tree on a moonlit night is an experience not to be missed! Guest AccessThere is a gate with a lock that guests must respect by manually ( it's not electronic) opening and closing. Come and go as you please. Bicyclists and walkers can bypass the gate through an opening beside it. There are a couple of other land tenants that also use this gate that you may meet. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy interacting with guests when I am on the island. When I am not my caretaker will be your point person- she lives just down the road. She or I will be available for questions or guidance on how we live in this off the grid and " as sustainable as possible" manner. We are happy to share whatever fruit is in season when you are here. We can advise you of where to go for local swimming, so it will be helpful if you bring or buy a map in Hilo, or the map on your iphone will work. The NeighborhoodKapoho has the best safe ocean swimming on the Big Island. Warm spring ocean lagoons, marine preserve for snorkeling (Wai O'pai), great surfing (Poho'iki), and a freshwater lake are all within a few miles from the rental. Black sand nude beach (Kehena) 12 miles away. Great neighbors and unique Farmers Markets several times a week in Pahoa on Sunday(Maku'u market), Kalapana on Wednesday evenings at Uncle Robert's with genuine Hawaiian music. Puamana is in the small hamlet of Koa'e near Kapoho. Kalani Honua is a retreat center down the road that offers workshops, classes, yoga, ecstatic dance, and music. Pahoa town has a health food store, Island Naturals. Most major conveniences are in Pahoa just a 15 minute drive away from my property. When I am present on the island (winter only), I am offering breakfasts and dinners for a separate fee. Please ask about the menu if you are interested. I use the freshest local ingredients. Eggs from my chickens, milk from a neighbor, my home made yogurt, fish from the dock down the road, vegetables and fruit from my property. I am an experienced healthy foods caterer and have much experience with special diets, be it gluten-free, paleo, raw, or vegan. It's a great place to take walks or bike rides down quiet, scenic country roads. Our neighbors all live off the grid and strive towards some level of sustainability, and everyone you meet is usually quite friendly. Many have said that being at Pua Mana is like being in Old Hawaii... the one that tourists rarely find on their own. Getting AroundThere is limited public transport, the Hele On bus services Hilo, Pahoa, and the rest of the Island and is free. Most guests have rental cars. It is a 2 minute walk from the jungalow to parking. We live just off of the paved road down a short dirt driveway, so there is no need to rent a 4WD. A rental car is a MUST unless you are a serious biker and come with your own bike and a plan to get everywhere that way. Pahoa is 12 miles away. Therefore if you are too young to rent a car, do not reserve with me unless you plan to bring your own bike. There are so many sites to see, and I do not live in the town where you can walk to get your supplies. Other Things to NoteI'm sorry, but we do not allow dogs- although your dog may love cats, my cats do not like dogs. Please be aware that if you are looking for a silent retreat, although we are out in the country, this is a working homestead and there may be people working on the land (although I will try to schedule mowing for times when guests are out swimming), the general sounds of sustainable land practices, occasional vehicles, and sounds from neighbors' property. Normal country living sounds. Since we have screens for windows and some walls, our houses are very open and noises and voices travel easily. The nice thing about that is that the nature sounds; the wind, the rain, the moon rising can all be seen and felt. There are a couple of friendly cats that help keep the rodents away that stay around the cabin, so if you are allergic to cats it would not be a good place for you. For some, the rustic off-grid accommodations can be compared to luxurious camping. Be prepared for harmless creatures like mosquitoes, spiders, geckos, and other critters that live in the indoor/outdoor environment. Living off grid at this point for me means no washing machine, however guests can do their laundry at the laundromat in Pahoa if needed. I provide sheets and bedding but not towels for that reason, and advise that you bring 2, one for bathing and another for beach- going/ salt water. AT&T cell is the only provider that has a clear signal on the property. Some other providers will work if you walk down the road, but with the smaller providers like Sprint or T-Mobile you may have to go to Pahoa to use. If you have cell phone connectivity thru AT&T you can easilyconnect to the internet. Please note, my famous outdoor shower is surrounded by large jungle plants and flowering trees, but there is no shower curtain or wall in front of it. If we happen to be walking anywhere near it, we of course avert our eyes if someone is showering, but if you are very modest you may feel uncomfortable showering amidst the green plants, giant leaved monsteras, and fragrant flowers. The separate outhouse/flush toilet has a screen front so you can view the beauty around you while you sit. Depending upon the time of day and the weather, mosquitoes can be bothersome for some. They are the worst at dusk, and we find that the essential oil- based mosquito repellent products available at Pahoa Naturals, or your local healthy foods store works just fine. If you are especially sensitive to mosquitoes it's a good idea to bring some lightweight long pants and long-sleeved shirt and socks to wear if they are bothering you. Although the jungalow is screened, they can sometimes find their way in thru the cracks. In winter there are few if any mosquitoes at night due to the colder temps. You will also hear the coqui frogs at night- it's quite a cacophony, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. There are no locks on our doors, so please be responsible for your own valuables. I can lock a few things up for you in my shed and give you the key if needed.

We feel so happy to share this with our guests. Our communal kitchen is also available for your use, and less than a mile away is a variety of great restaurants. Interaction with Guests We are a tropical permaculture farm and retreat center, so there will be various people (staff, interns, outside community members visiting for permaculture, yoga or hula classes) on property. Though, due to the large amount of land that we have, you can be as private or social as you'd like. The NeighborhoodWe are located on a 44-acre tropical farm sanctuary on ancient Hawaiian lands in the Puna District, one of the last undeveloped magical coastal regions on the Big Island of Hawaii. The farm is on the windward side, 21 miles Southeast of Hilo - a culturally diverse university town - and less than 1 mile from Pahoa (easy to bike or walk) - a historic town with excellent restaurants, grocery and health food stores, post office and library. Our guests love how close we are to town and how it can feel like we are worlds away from the modern world, yet a gourmet dinner in town can be quick and easy. This district is known across the globe for its cultural richness and uniqueness. We are mere miles away from an active volcano, of which you can go on lava hikes to see real flowing lava when the flow is good. We are a short distance to warm tidal pools, waterfalls, clothing-optional black sand beaches, natural steam vent saunas from the nearby active volcano, surfing, swimming with dolphins, and lots of sweet community events– farmer's markets, ecstatic dances and culture. Getting AroundThere is some public transit, but it is not exactly convenient or reliable. Your best bet is to rent a car. Hitchhiking is very easy around here for those that are experienced and comfortable with the adventures that hitchhiking brings. We are walking distance to Pahoa town, and just a half hour by car from Hilo airport (ITO). Other Things to NoteHawaiian Sanctuary is a tropical permaculture farm and eco-rejuvenation center. We provide experiential education in the areas of yoga/wellness, permaculture, Hawaiian Culture, social dynamics/communication, and much more! We bring local experts to teach us about returning to the land, growing our food and re-connecting to ourselves, each other, and the earth. Please visit our website (found on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)) "Hawaiian Sanctuary" to view our events calendar. There are both paid and complimentary class options available to our guests. Let us provide you with innovative eco-chic accommodations, a health spa, prepared meals from our gardens, family style classes on wellness, permaculture classes, and more. Additionally, we can meet your health and wellness goals for detox, cleansing and rejuvenation while you’re with us. Stay for a few nights, a week or a month and we can design a cleansing program to transform your digestion and overall well being. Single or multiple sessions in massage, colon hydrotherapy, IV therapy and more available for our guests. Please inquire. Relax in style with us. This vacation will deliver community style living with a private retreat experience. Nestle in our sanctuary close to town, yet worlds away from life as you know it!

The SpaceThis cozy cottage is located in the Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community. We are in a beautiful secluded and relaxed rain forest environment. We don't usually have traffic jams here! In fact driving in this area is very pleasant with many attractions nearby. We offer a more back-to-nature alternative to the hotel based 'concrete tourism' that has over developed much of Hawaii. Other FEATURES & BENEFITS of the Jungle Cottage: * Only 4 miles to ocean and outdoor Ahalanui ocean warm ponds! * Parking & Utilities included. * Wireless Internet Access Included * Ensuite: Private Solar Hot shower, Bath & Toilet * As an Eco-Friendly Vacation Rental we strongly encourage Guests to Recycle. * Jungle Cottage has a complete kitchen with most appliances. * Fully furnished with Queen bed. * The location is very unique; the cottage is next to a 250-year old volcanic crater with a trail that descends into the rain-forest below. As a guest on the property you also have access to all the community areas. Usually there are a number of travelers and other eco-tourists to socialize with! However, because you are renting a private cottage you enjoy your own separate facilities so you can go back to your own private space whenever you want! Last but not least the Jungle Cottage is located right beside a gigantic 33 meter deep volcanic crater. It is an old dormant crater with a fully formed jungle at the bottom. We have built a unique hiking trail to the bottom and the lava tube located within. Because it is part of our property, this is a private natural attraction that is not open to the general public. And it is located right next to your bedroom window! Guest AccessThe rest of the community has shared facilities but the cottage has it's own kitchen and bathroom. Guests staying in the cottage are welcome to come join us in the back if they wish to 'hang out' in the general community! Interaction with GuestsThe lodging is part of the Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community. We have a team of community members that run operations and are there to help you with any questions you might have. They will also be giving you a tour of our property that includes edible rain forest plants and our volcanic crater! The NeighborhoodWe are in located in the Puna region about five miles from Pahoa town and five miles from the ocean. Our nearest attraction is the Lava Tree State Park about one mile away. Getting AroundThere is limited public transit in this part of Hawaii but the bus does come nearby a few times a day on it's way to town (Pahoa and Hilo) and down toward the beaches. Guests and Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation. We recommend renting a car as there is only a skeletal bus service in this area. It is the one price of serenity in this secluded corner of Hawaii! Other Things to NoteTAX INCLUDED IN PRICE! For discounted rates on extended weekly stays there is an additional three hour a week community support shift commitment. CANCELLATION POLICIES 1. More than 48 hours notice cancellation fee: 25% of booking. 2. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice then a 50% cancellation fee applies. 3.It is not our policy to issue refunds if a Guest decides to leave after completing more than a third of their stay. However, we will make certain humanitarian exceptions and issue a partial refund on a case-by-case basis. CHANGING DATES or ACCOMMODATION If you wish to change your arrival and/or departure dates or lodgings at Hedonisia Hawaii please note that there is a $10 processing fee. The SpaceCharming oceanview farmhouse, off the grid getaway in Pahoa, Hawaii. (PRICE INCLUDES 13.41% daily Hawaii Transient & Excise Tax.) Located at the end of a private road, our Pohoiki farmhouse (pronounced locally as Po-iki) is a tastefully appointed, off the grid home with magnificent ocean view. The home sits on five cleared acres and is planted with a variety of tropical flowers, exotic fruit trees, and even a testbed for growing tea. This is an off the grid retreat for visitors looking for serenity and a soothing, entirely different sort of Hawai'i vacation. The house features a full kitchen; separate bedroom; large bathroom with walk-in shower and hand-crafted acacia wood counter; cozy living room with TV/DVD player; a dining room that comfortably seats four to six; and a large lanai featuring magnificent ocean views during the day and sublime stargazing at night. This is our home, and although work keeps us away from Hawai'i right now we’d like it to be your home as well. Sit on the lanai in the morning sipping coffee and eating papaya from one of the local markets while listening to the slow distant rumble of the ocean. Easily visit the many nearby wonders of Puna: Ahalanui Park warm pond, Pohoiki boat ramp, the Vacationland tide pools, the Kalapana lava flow, Pahoa Town, mystical Red Road...Wander the yard at sunset with a glass of wine while the sun paints the skies over Puna pink. Fall asleep to the nighttime rains… Because the house is positioned on a hill 400 feet above sea level, the trade winds blow regularly and keep it almost exclusively mosquito-free, which is a bit of a marvel for east Hawai'i. We are less than 10 minutes by car from old Pahoa Town (restaurants, gas, groceries, wonderful olympic-sized swimming pool) and a mere few miles from the Pohoiki boat ramp and the geothermally heated warm pond. Kalapana is 20 minutes south; the Hilo airport about 35 to 40 minutes north; Kilauea crater about 45 minutes. The location is ideal for exploring the eastern side of the island. Sometimes it’s difficult to remember that our farmhouse is off the grid, but it is. We have plenty of county water, which is easily and quickly heated by an on-demand propane water heater. The stove and oven are propane as well, and the electrical is solar. The living is convenient and comfortable, however the experience is decidedly more detached – much less energy consumptive, much less plugged-in. Life on Pohoiki Road is in synch with the rythms of the day. Life is simpler here. It is my and Michaels' goal to interact as much (or as little) with you as is necessary, and hope our relationship is fun, informative and mutually beneficial. Swimming is half a mile away at Isaac Kepo'okalani Hale Park, one of the few safe places for swimming on this rugged, extremely scenic, coast. A body-temperature warm-pond park is just a half mile further, as well as excellent snorkeling in the wave-protected Kapoho Tide Pools with dozens of corals, and thousands of brightly colored fish. The nearly constant lava-flow area is just half an hour to the West of us, and perfect for a sunset, or sunrise, hike where you'll often see a cascade of red-hot lava plunging 50 or 60 feet into the ocean boiling below. Truly awesome! A peak experience for most of our guests. Shopping, a natural foods market, and delicious restaurants are 10 minutes away in Pahoa town. Several large Farmer Markets operate on the weekends too. We have a 1000 square foot Yoga Hale for small groups and events with a phenomenal view of the Pacific. We have a resident yoga teacher that hosts yoga classes for guests daily at 8 am for $12. Our teak Meditation Pavilion was made in Bali and is, to us, a very holy and special place for prayer and reflection. We don't preach, or otherwise "reach out"...., it's simply there if you would like some peace and tranquility - which is, as most people tell us, is our main product. :-) Check-in time is 3 pm or after, and we ask that you please arrive no later than 8 pm to ensure someone is awake and available to show you to your cabin. Late check-ins can be arranged, but you have to let us know ahead of time. Keep us informed in your route to us. KMEC is the best value around for places under $100. Mahalo Nui Loa, Len & the gang Guest AccessGuests have full access to all of the community spaces including: community kitchen with fridge and cooking space, dining gazebo and picnic tables, 3 full bathrooms on property, 1 half bathroom by yoga hale, meditation pavilion open 24 hours, yoga hale, and always welcome to walk throughout the 11 acre organic fruit orchard. Interaction with GuestsWe will be happy to direct you to all of our local wonders and our community happenings. Guests are welcome to come to daily yoga classes for a drop-in fee. The NeighborhoodOur location is pristine. Mango Road is a sacred authentic, well preserved landmark to the ancient Hawaiians and so beautiful. Getting AroundThere is a local bus which stops about 1/2 mile down the road at Isaac Hale Park. Renting your own car makes perfect sense. Other Things to NoteAll of our cabins (unlike a hotel) are open to the elements. They are screened in to protect from pesky mosquitoes and bugs, however the Hawaiian jungle is full of geckos and screens don’t keep them out. They are harmless and just enjoy being around humans, and especially love eating sweet treats if you leave any food out. Please be aware that you may see a few during your stay, but there won’t be a large number of geckos. In case of gecko droppings we do put a painting drop cloth over the bed to maintain cleanliness of bedding and towels until your arrival. These are removed to be washed on a regular basis. This is typically placed under the bed during your stay, in case you choose to cover the bed while you are out during the day.

The SpaceCabin/ antique Bali Hut in beautiful Hawaii on one half acre with ocean views on the Big island of Hawaii on the Puna coast, five minutes walking distance to the black sand beach where the dolphins swim and spin, whale watch in the winter months and play in the surf. My rental is just twenty minutes from Pahoa town where you will find many resturants and grocery and health food stores. This beautiful coastline is one of the most picturesque and oldest parts of Hawaii, twenty minutes to snorkeling and warm pools. This coastline road is perfect for a long bicycle ride to explore this beautiful paradise's hidden treasures. The retreat center Kalani Oceanside retreat is just five minutes from my home, offering yoga classes,a daily schedule of various classes plus a gift shop and resturant with three meals per day. This hut was hand carved in East Timor, Indonesia, sixty years ago and is free standing, open aired, screened with privacy mesh shades. The Bali house is quiet and peaceful, you will sleep to the sound of ocean surf and swaying palm trees and jungle noises. The bathroom and outdoor hot shower are separate from the house and very private, surrounded by trees and plants, their is a privacy fence on the border. The shower is not visible to my home or neighbors. No cooking facilities are available. Please note this is a non-smoking home and grounds (no exceptions please) in a very quiet neighborhood. Wi Fi is available upon request. Please note although I provide wi fi, it is not city fast and sometimes with heavy rains, will drop out but usually restores in a few hours. Also their is no cell phone reception on the property but is available down the road. Many guests come to escape being plugged in. I will be happy to tell you of all the great things to do here on our special and beautiful island. Aloha and mahalo. Guest AccessThe guests will have access to our beautiful coastal road, state parks, jungle walks, hot ponds that are heated by underground lava vents. Tide pools that are great for snorkeling, a black sand beach that is accessible for good walkers and good swimmers. My guests do not have to even leave the area, their are plenty of adventures to be found on this beautiful road. The lava is flowing now and can be viewed by hiking out, taking a boat cruise or a bike ride, watching the lava flow into the ocean is a remarkable site. Interaction with GuestsI am very social with my guests if they wish any information or guidance on their trip. I am always available to them when they need assistance or need anything to make them more comfortable. I strongly suggest that you book three nights, most guests arrive late the first night and only have the next day to see this wonderful side of the island. The NeighborhoodMy neighborhood is peaceful and very quiet, lots of beautiful plants to see on a neighborhood walk. My backyard is beautiful for plants and star gazing. My neighborhood is also very safe, I do have an office if you wish to lock up any valuables. Parking is available in my driveway, safe and secure. Getting AroundI strongly urge my guests to rent a car, their is a public bus but it only runs twice a day and does not make it easy to view the sites here. Please remember my Bali hut is less than one hour from Hilo Airport and three hours from the Kona airport. Other Things to NoteThe Bali hut is in total commune with nature, you can see the plants surrounding the hut, hear the ocean, listen to jungle noises ( sometimes loud) watch the birds fly by, the hut is screened and has privacy mesh shades and with the trees and plants, gives you total privacy. This is the same for the outdoor shower. You will also see our beautiful dancing geko's on the ceiling that are completely harmless, my guests love them and I do also.
