The backyard, while a work in progress, is available for use by the guests and is shared by both homes. Interaction with GuestsI love visiting with my guests over coffee or a beer, but I also understand most people are coming to Moscow to visit family or friends or often have an existing agenda and are strapped for time. I'm available if needed but respect your privacy too. The NeighborhoodThe home is located in a residential neighborhood consisting of older, small homes. It's a short walk to downtown Moscow and the University of Idaho. Its proximity to the U of I allows you to avoid the nuisance of parking on campus mid-week. The whole town is quite bikeable although there are some hills. Bikes can be rented from Paradise Creek Bicycles. There are also quite a few taxi companies in town for those that don't arrive with a car. Uber doesn't have a presence on the Palouse yet, although ironically, I'm registered to drive for them :) Other Things to NoteSpecial event rates are charged for U of I and WSU Mom's and Dad's weekends, homecomings, and graduations. There is a 2-night minimum for these event weekends, and I only accept bookings for these special weekends directly through my website. For more information, please visit my website, or send me an e-mail.

I enjoy staying in unique, interesting accommodations and love learning about cultures and the people I stay with, but may not want to eat breakfast at a certain time, or interact without choice, so Haystack B & B was created with the guest's needs in mind; foods are stocked in your suite & breakfast may be enjoyed at your leisure. The SpaceThe home is very comfortable. There is a gas fireplace in the living room along with tv (with Wii and Netflix) and built-in ceiling speakers hooked up to the stereo and the tv. The kitchen has butcher block countertops and a gas range. The entire downstairs has radiant heat in the floors and feels great in the winter. The master bedroom is upstairs and is cozy with sloped ceilings and skylights. It has a queen-size bed. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed as well as its own connected bathroom. There is additional sleeping space in the downstairs nook which converts to an eating nook, and this space would fit 2 people. The house most comfortable accommodates 2 couples, and is priced as such, since there are 2 bedrooms with bathrooms attached. If there are 2 people sleeping in the nook, they would not get their own bedroom, plus if the sleeping nook is used, the eating nook could not be used. But I have had 8 people stay here before, with 2 of them sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags. Guest AccessThe guests will have access to my entire house. Interaction with GuestsSince I live here, I will need to vacate the premises when my guests arrive, but I will be available by phone wherever I decide to go while the house is rented. I prefer to meet my guests before I leave town, and will make every effort to do so. The NeighborhoodThe home is located in a residential neighborhood consisting of older, small homes. It's a short walk to downtown Moscow and the University of Idaho. It's proximity to the U of I allows you to avoid the nuisance of parking on campus mid-week. There are also quite a few taxi companies in town for those that don't arrive with a car. Other Things to NoteThis house is also available for a home exchange, but I am unable to exchange with families with indoor pets because of allergies. House exchanging is where we swap houses and no money is exchanged. I have been doing this for years and have had excellent experiences.

Downtown has many eateries, including our favorites "Bloom" for breakfast and lunch at 402 s main st. and Nectar 105 w 6th st. for dinner and drinks. Moscow Food Co-op is a great place to meet, grab a coffee and baked good or some picnic fare. Getting AroundThere is a free public bus system in Moscow, and a stop at the bottom of our hill. The property is unusual and absolutely enormous. The University of Idaho is just blocks from the front and acres upon acres of rolling hills provide an amazing view out the back. The SpacePeterson Barn has the character of a mountain hide-away with all the comforts of home. Peterson Barn is the perfect way to get away from it all without ever leaving town. In the tradition of English cruck frames, the Peterson Barn was built by hand in 1997 from curved timbers. We felled and milled the trees, cut the joinery by hand, and did a barn raising with about a hundred of our closest friends. Many of the timbers are rescued urban hardwoods and each has a story. And the barn is gathering its own stories... honeymoons, anniversaries, holiday dinners, and even a home birth. We know you'll enjoy your stay. Cyclists: From the end of our driveway you can go east 14 miles on the Latah Trail's paved railbed to Troy, ID or west 8 miles via Moscow's Paradise Path to the Chipman Trail's paved railbed to Pullman, WA. There is also off-road biking on Moscow Mountain. Guest AccessYou are renting the main floor and sleeping loft of the Barn. We have a two car garage and greenhouse below which is private. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be around to greet you; we live in the 100 year-old original farmhouse next door. The NeighborhoodWe are located only a mile and a half from the University of Idaho, on the Latah Trail / Paradise Path bike trail. Ride or run 14 miles east to Troy Idaho, or west through the UI campus and 8 miles to Pullman WA and WSU. Getting AroundIn addition to the trail, there is a city bus service with a stop near Blaine St & White Avenue, a couple blocks away. Other Things to NoteWe provide one parking space for guests. Additional cars need to be parked on the street. The driveway is used by others, please be thoughtful.

The SpaceWe offer 2 spacious BR's from which to choose, located in a private wing of our house on the 2nd floor . Each room comfortably sleeps 2 guests (with room for a Pack 'n Play if required); both offer a luxurious pillow-top mattress and fresh linens. This is a family-friendly safe environment. We can provide a pack'n play, baby swing and changing table, and children are entertained in the "play closet" located outside of one bedroom. The Peacock Room is our beautiful master bedroom with a Cal-King bed and a view of our poplar grove and forested pine trees. The Rabbit Room offers a Queen bed and a stunning vista of the Palouse. It overlooks a bird feeder (a popular spot for a variety of birdlife including our regular visitors, the local rafter of wild turkeys). Both rooms share the 1.25 bathroom suite which includes a shower and Jacuzzi. We ensure our guests' privacy as these rooms are located in a private wing of the house. We also offer a spacious living room on the 1st floor with soft couches for our guests to relax, visit or simply curl up with a favorite book. The lawn is the perfect place to sit and chat, all while enjoying the rolling hills during the day or the stars at night. We highly encourage a cup of tea, a glass of wine or a cigar when doing so to enhance the experience. Combining any two of the above with a stretch on the hammock will only improve the memories. And lastly, a basketball hoop is available for shooting baskets. Guest AccessGuests will have full access to the private bedroom wing located on the 2nd floor (an easy staircase), the family living room (piano included, just lay off "Chopsticks"), and all the outdoor areas and walking trails. A light continental breakfast with juice and freshly ground coffee will be provided each morning in the dining area. Interaction with GuestsOnce we show you around and point you in the direction of Bunker Hill (our favorite hiking location) you are afforded your privacy. We can offer advice on the best coffee shops, dinner locales or spots to pick up a bottle of wine. One in our family loves to bake so if you smell fresh cookies or a loaf of baked goodness, an item may be offered. While we promise to give you privacy, we can't say the same for our outdoor "Peeping Toms" (referring to the aforementioned turkeys, who have been known to hop onto the deck, walk right up to the low windows and impertinently stare inside). The NeighborhoodWe are tucked in a subdivision located 5 miles north of Moscow, Idaho, off Hwy 95N on Steakhouse Hill. The "neighborhood" consists of elk and deer that graze in the green valley at the edge of our lawn, an occasional coyote pack and the rafter of turkeys that hang out in the yard, pecking at the fallen birdseed and quite hilariously courting one another. (On any given day it's like an episode of the "Bachelor: Nature Edition".) We've also been visited by moose and a rare bear in the cherry tree. And did we mention the view yet? Oh, we did? About ten times? Well, make it eleven because that baby is not to be missed! We have a beautiful hike behind our house that leads to "Bunker Hill," a grassy hilltop offering a near panoramic view of the Palouse. It's a favorite destination and running spot for the few human neighbors that make up our community. Getting AroundWe are conveniently located a stone's throw from Moscow (5 miles), and less than a mile off Hwy 95N. This is close enough to "run into Moscow" but far enough that you feel like you're having a mountain-top experience. A large gravel driveway offers safe parking for your vehicle, and easy-to-follow instructions will help you find the place. You will need your own transportation. Other Things to NoteOur view. Bam. That's twelve.

Comfortable cottage close to the Univ of Idaho and downtown. The guesthouse has a very usable, well-equipped kitchen in which to cook meals. Candles throughout the house and the private setting create a nice retreat or romantic getaway. No cleaning fee is required, and damage deposit is fully refundable. I get asked a lot about the damage deposit, so here is FlipKey's policy to its guesthouse owners: "The traditional refundable security deposit will be held by FlipKey. When your guest checks out, we will send you an email reminder. We automatically release refundable deposits once 10 days have passed after check-out. This holding period gives you 7 days to access the property after your guest checks out to ensure that there are no damages. The additional 3 days allow ample time for us to process a claim and reimburse you if necessary. Please note, the traveler's credit card provider is responsible for how long it takes to process the refund once it has been released by FlipKey. For this reason, it can take an additional 7-10 business days for travelers to receive their credit." Additional fees may apply: - Tax | 8% of rent The guesthouse is located in a safe, residential neighborhood, yet is only a few blocks away to downtown Moscow, the University of Idaho, and Gritman Medical Center.

The SpaceYou will have full use of the guest bedroom with bathroom within our home. The window provides a fresh, open feeling, and can be opened. Relaxing, clean, and meditative, while being warm, comforting, and familial, you will experience the Guest Room on Moser as you desire. Perfect for a single on business or a couple looking to enjoy all the Palouse has to offer. The space is rejuvinating and fresh. A nicely appointed bedroom sleeps two in a cozy full-size bed. (Not a queen bed. A Full size bed is considered a fairly petite queen or a very very spacious twin.) Enjoy coffee or the wine provided in the chair in front of the window. Guest AccessPark in the driveway, open the front door with your own key, and enter the bright entryway to immediately turn right to enter your Guest Room space. You will be delighted with the room, and comforted by the good vibes of a happy home. Come and go as you will. We will leave the lights on for you and your wine will be waiting. Interaction with GuestsOur Guest Room is inside our home and has a short hallway that takes you to your private bathroom. The laundry room opens onto this short hallway, so if you'd like to run a load of laundry, just let us know. The laundry room connects to our garage. Due to this, you will be in some contact with our household as they enter the garage, but it is not often. You will be able to hear us while you are in the hallway. While in your room or bathroom you should not hear us. Our family has completely different parts of the house to 'hang out' in. If we are on the deck enjoying the firepit and sunset, you may want to join us for some socializing. Enjoy the deck anytime when we aren't home or when it's not in use. You may be invited to join us for wine in the living room in front of the fireplace. You are welcome to enjoy coffee from the coffee station in the kitchen and ice and water from the dispenser in the refrigerator anytime. Let us know if you would like a shelf in our refrigerator for your use. We have a teenage boy and girl, and a busy household often with guests. We will leave you to your own devices unless you initiate conversation or social engagement. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is atop a hill and is quiet with well established homes that have beautifully developed yards and tremendous views of the Palouse and the mountains. We know almost all the neighbors, many have older children. Moscow is the home of the University of Idaho and has all the activities ad amenities associated with a university. Also, Washington State University is only 7 miles west! Moscow is rich in cultural events, excellent restaurants (we will be happy to recommend our favorites) and art galleries with a quaint downtown, walking/bicycle paths, a mall, a city pool, and fun shopping. Take day trips into the mountains for hiking, fishing, skiing, and picnicking, or have a great time sight seeing. You will be glad you came! Getting AroundRight at the bottom of our hill (a nice 5 minute walk), there is a walking/bicycle path that takes you into town and indeed, all the way to Pullman or Troy if you like. The bottom of the hill has a city transit bus stop that will take you anywhere you want to go, a great city water park in the summer, a skateboard park, a soccer field, an indoor recreation center (basketball courts), the middle school tennis courts and track with the practice fields for both football and baseball. In the other direction, there is a walk along a waterway to a city park with amenities and a pond, a school with a playground, and lovely neighborhoods. Just ask and I assure you, you can do it from here! Other Things to Note(website hidden) Maps will try to take you to Moser COURT instead of Moser STREET. These are the same place. Look at the location map on this listing to get directions or call me, or don't worry if your map changes the location to Moser Court, as it will get you here anyway. Due to our busy household, only select dates are available. (2 night minimum) However, if you require a longer stay, contact me and it might be possible. Please note that we don't provide breakfast. There are many great breakfast restaurants we can recommend, as well as bakeries to pick up pastries, etc. Just let us know if you want a shelf in our refrigerator for your use. We provide a quality, full coffee service with travel cups & lids, a bottle of Red or White wine (you must specify- default wine choice is red) with opener and glasses, and sometimes chocolate chip cookies. Our water is filtered and delicious, so bring your refillable water bottle! Your private bathroom is large and nice, but not directly connected to the bedroom or lounge. Since we may walk through the space infrequently to get to the laundry room or garage (and for your own modesty), you may wish to bring a robe from home. Allergy Alert: We have a cat. She may wander into your room out of curiosity. We want you to enjoy your stay, so if you need anything, let us know! *We will make all possible effort to not do any laundry during your stay. However, if we do, the washer and dryer are quiet and we will only do washing during the daytime hours so your sleep isn't interrupted.

The SpaceWe have 2 Rooms for Resting. One is called French Camino de Santiago Room for Resting, and the second bedroom is called Fisterre-Galicia Room for Resting. This means we can have either 2 people (a couple) in one bedroom, or we can now accommodate up to 4 people traveling together, e.g., parents with 2 children or two couples. PLEASE NOTE: We will not have 2 separate couples who are not traveling together stay with us to avoid anxiety over the use of shared facilities. We believe in the Orientals' book of a strict no-(outdoor) shoes policy inside the house. Therefore, we request that all guests remove their shoes upon entering. Our guests MUST wear indoor house slippers OR wear socks while inside the house. The exception, of course, is within your bedrooms and restroom facilities. We have 1.5 restrooms that are dedicated to our guests (we have our own facilities in our master bedroom). One restroom has full tub/showers (with new shower head even) with toilet and wash basin, and the other restroom, when we have 4 people, has a wash basin with toilet with excellent lighting and mirror. All of our Kohler toilets are new, highly efficient and quiet. The full restroom with bath/shower has organic Nature's Gate Henna shampoo and conditioner, Dr. Bonner's lavender soap, organic soaps, and glycerine face bars. There will be cotton swabs and balls, facial pads, and Q-tips. There will also be equipped with personal feminine products and extra toiletries. Our Airbnb rooms have dedicated, high quality wash cloths and hand and bath towels (unlike the usual second-hand towels we experience at other Airbnbs). We have soft water for luxurious baths/showers. The bedrooms have new double beds with American late 18-century Colonial-style metal frame and new organic cotton firm mattresses. The beds have luxurious organic cotton sheets and new pillows with Allergy-Luxe pillow protectors. Each bedroom has a full-length mirror. The space is very private with art décor and artifacts of our walk on The Camino de Santiago and Granada and Córdoba. The windows look out to our beautiful, fenced back yard with exceptional privacy. The bedroom is immediately adjacent to bathtub/showers and facilities. Each bedroom has a framed, full-length mirror. The rooms have a table with hot water kettle for coffee/tea and with amenities (water, snacks, cups, wine glasses (if needed), etc.). A quiet, small refrigerator is available in each room to provide guests with cold water and juice. We have a coat rack for your coats in the hallway and another rack in each room for you to hang purses, clothing, and/or your hand/bath towels for drying. If needed, each room also has a small, efficient heater to provide additional warmth during cold nights. The hallways and restroom have high-quality, sensitive motion detector lights for your safety at night. There is a flashlight in each room in addition to Lucy--an exceptional genius lantern used by backpackers (for emergencies). A Guest book with information about Moscow and the Palouse will be available. Information about restaurants, shops, the surrounding Palouse area, and our efficient, free bus system will be provided. Although not necessary, both rooms have keyed locks to provide piece of mind and extra security for your belongings, something lacking in most Airbnb rooms. Be assured your belongings are very secure regardless of whether or not you use the locks. Both Rooms for Resting have ECHO DOT so you can communicate with Alexa about 1) setting an alarm, 2) getting the local weather, 3) obtaining the most recent news from NPR/BBC/CNN, and/or 4) playing music. You will enjoy meeting Alexa of ECHO originally sold only by Amazon to Prime members. Guest AccessGuests will have access to our living room with couch for resting and with reading materials or for just enjoying the view of beautiful Moscow mountain. A small table with chairs next to the balcony is available for eating and/or for use with laptops and such. Sue provides freshly made breads and fruit for you each day. Kitchen, rooms with closed doors, and our downstairs area are not accessible to guests, unless permitted by us. You may come and go as you wish. Travelers--during excellent weather mid-spring to mid-autumn--will be able to access either the front balcony with great views of Hopper (the artist) and Moscow Mountain or the back balcony for super quiet and beautiful garden to watch quail and pheasant. We have quail nests in our yards that we don't disturb. We have an excellent bus system. NOTE: The bus stop is 0.4 mi from our house (just down the street). Alternatively, given 24h notice, they will stop across our cul-de-sac for you at an appointed time (we will provide you with the schedule and help you with reservations). Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy our house. Guests will be able to interact with us if our paths cross, which is very likely, but please know that we respect the privacy of our guests. We enjoy meeting others with similar interests in education and the arts and travel and reading. We will be more than happy to offer advice and suggestions regarding our surroundings in the Palouse as well as Moscow and neighboring Pullman, WA. We will help our guests in any way, if we can. As an aside, Room(s) for Resting and all rooms of our house are filled with artifacts and museum pieces from all over the world. The NeighborhoodWe hope you enjoy the pictures of our house, the neighborhood, and of our experiences on The Camino de Santiago. Our neighborhood is special because it is 1) very quiet; 2) safe and secure; 3) great for strolling and jogging; 4) walking/running parks very close; 5) great views of surrounding area; 6) minutes away from historic downtown Moscow (1.4-mi from our house) and shopping areas and restaurants (yes, we do have very good restaurants); 7) a paved bicycle trail from Moscow to Troy and to Pullman; 8) the very high quality Gritman Medical Center/Hospital is right next to downtown area and easily accessible; 9) our exceptional Farmer's market, and 10) the bus stop is close and down the street from our house (0.4-mi) and/or bus can stop across from our cul de sac given 24-h notice (easy). We are accessible to you all of the time should you need us. Getting AroundIf arriving by plane, airport has car rentals available. Taxis are plentiful; Campus Cabs are the best. If traveler does not have a car rental, walking is safe and not far from all destinations in Moscow including downtown, the U. Idaho campus, grocery stores, pharmacies, [the superb] Gritman Medical Center, etcetera. Also, we have an excellent bus service. Bus stop is 0.4-mi from our house, and/or the bus will stop across our cul-de-sac given 24-h notice. In emergencies, be assured that we will do our very best to assist and transport guests to medical emergencies and, if possible, to and from airport. Other Things to NoteWe are the first Airbnb to be certified and approved by the Board of Supervisor, City of Moscow, Idaho. Guests must be at our Airbnb between 2PM and 5PM of day of arrival. Accepting guests after 5PM may incur an additional cost upon arrival, so please inquire. We have a large driveway that can accommodate one Airbnb vehicle. Moscow, ID has 4 seasons with winters experiencing winds and accumulation of snow that travelers must prepare for. Our first significant snow accumulation the past 3 years has occurred the first week in November. NOTE: If you do not have an automobile, we have an excellent bus system. The bus stop is only 0.4-mi from our house. Alternatively, given 24-h notice, they will stop across the cul-de-sac from our house. Given advanced notice we will assist you with transportation from and to the airport. If our guests are here between April and October, Moscow has one of the finest (recently ranked in the top 20 nationwide) farmer's market in the country (yes, we believe this!) that you may enjoy. It is awesome and a must experience. All year around the drive on the Palouse from Moscow to Lewiston is spectacular. Importantly, the medical facilities both in Pullman, WA and in Moscow at the Gritman, should you need them, are state-of-the-art and excellent. Out-patient clinics are also available.

The SpaceThe house is a rustic roundhouse. The split level offers two daylight basement bedrooms and large shared bathroom*(see guest access) on the lower level, along with a family room and laundry, separate from the main (host) floor. In winter we heat with wood and lofty comforters. Guest AccessBoth floors are accessed via stairs to the common front entry. *the guest bath has hand held shower/jacuzzi tub. Host shower on upper floor is available if needed. Interaction with GuestsI greet my guests upon arrival and look forward to interacting with them as their/my time will allow. I have recommendations for dining and area activities, if needed. Since this is "home" and not a hotel, I greatly appreciate it when you tell me when you will be arriving and leaving--it helps me navigate my space while accommodating you. If you would like breakfast, please let me know in advance, along with any menu requests/special needs you may have. Thank you. The NeighborhoodThe house is an octagon, rooms angular and interesting. Numerous neighbors live along the county road, but evenings are usually very quiet. The brightest lights in the area (besides your headlights), will be the stars in the clear night's sky. Getting AroundPersonal car is necessary from my location. Please exercise caution leaving my driveway and entering the county road. Quick and easy access to both U of I, WSU, and the Moscow/Pullman airport. There are many interesting activities in the region that vary from season to season. Other Things to NotePlease text me when you are headed my way, if possible. From sunset into evening, slow and careful driving is best the last mile before reaching the house (the deer cross the road frequently). In winter there may be more snow here than Moscow (we are an additional 500' elevation). Enjoy the drive!
