The SpaceWe have 2 Rooms for Resting. One is called French Camino de Santiago Room for Resting, and the second bedroom is called Fisterre-Galicia Room for Resting. This means we can have either 2 people (a couple) in one bedroom, or we can now accommodate up to 4 people traveling together, e.g., parents with 2 children or two couples. PLEASE NOTE: We will not have 2 separate couples who are not traveling together stay with us to avoid anxiety over the use of shared facilities.
We believe in the Orientals' book of a strict no-(outdoor) shoes policy inside the house. Therefore, we request that all guests remove their shoes upon entering. Our guests MUST wear indoor house slippers OR wear socks while inside the house. The exception, of course, is within your bedrooms and restroom facilities.
We have 1.5 restrooms that are dedicated to our guests (we have our own facilities in our master bedroom). One restroom has full tub/showers (with new shower head even) with toilet and wash basin, and the other restroom, when we have 4 people, has a wash basin with toilet with excellent lighting and mirror. All of our Kohler toilets are new, highly efficient and quiet. The full restroom with bath/shower has organic Nature's Gate Henna shampoo and conditioner, Dr. Bonner's lavender soap, organic soaps, and glycerine face bars. There will be cotton swabs and balls, facial pads, and Q-tips. There will also be equipped with personal feminine products and extra toiletries. Our Airbnb rooms have dedicated, high quality wash cloths and hand and bath towels (unlike the usual second-hand towels we experience at other Airbnbs). We have soft water for luxurious baths/showers.
The bedrooms have new double beds with American late 18-century Colonial-style metal frame and new organic cotton firm mattresses. The beds have luxurious organic cotton sheets and new pillows with Allergy-Luxe pillow protectors. Each bedroom has a full-length mirror. The space is very private with art décor and artifacts of our walk on The Camino de Santiago and Granada and Córdoba. The windows look out to our beautiful, fenced back yard with exceptional privacy. The bedroom is immediately adjacent to bathtub/showers and facilities.
Each bedroom has a framed, full-length mirror. The rooms have a table with hot water kettle for coffee/tea and with amenities (water, snacks, cups, wine glasses (if needed), etc.). A quiet, small refrigerator is available in each room to provide guests with cold water and juice. We have a coat rack for your coats in the hallway and another rack in each room for you to hang purses, clothing, and/or your hand/bath towels for drying. If needed, each room also has a small, efficient heater to provide additional warmth during cold nights.
The hallways and restroom have high-quality, sensitive motion detector lights for your safety at night. There is a flashlight in each room in addition to Lucy--an exceptional genius lantern used by backpackers (for emergencies).
A Guest book with information about Moscow and the Palouse will be available. Information about restaurants, shops, the surrounding Palouse area, and our efficient, free bus system will be provided.
Although not necessary, both rooms have keyed locks to provide piece of mind and extra security for your belongings, something lacking in most Airbnb rooms. Be assured your belongings are very secure regardless of whether or not you use the locks.
Both Rooms for Resting have ECHO DOT so you can communicate with Alexa about 1) setting an alarm, 2) getting the local weather, 3) obtaining the most recent news from NPR/BBC/CNN, and/or 4) playing music. You will enjoy meeting Alexa of ECHO originally sold only by Amazon to Prime members. Guest AccessGuests will have access to our living room with couch for resting and with reading materials or for just enjoying the view of beautiful Moscow mountain. A small table with chairs next to the balcony is available for eating and/or for use with laptops and such. Sue provides freshly made breads and fruit for you each day. Kitchen, rooms with closed doors, and our downstairs area are not accessible to guests, unless permitted by us.
You may come and go as you wish. Travelers--during excellent weather mid-spring to mid-autumn--will be able to access either the front balcony with great views of Hopper (the artist) and Moscow Mountain or the back balcony for super quiet and beautiful garden to watch quail and pheasant. We have quail nests in our yards that we don't disturb.
We have an excellent bus system. NOTE: The bus stop is 0.4 mi from our house (just down the street). Alternatively, given 24h notice, they will stop across our cul-de-sac for you at an appointed time (we will provide you with the schedule and help you with reservations). Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy our house. Guests will be able to interact with us if our paths cross, which is very likely, but please know that we respect the privacy of our guests. We enjoy meeting others with similar interests in education and the arts and travel and reading. We will be more than happy to offer advice and suggestions regarding our surroundings in the Palouse as well as Moscow and neighboring Pullman, WA. We will help our guests in any way, if we can. As an aside, Room(s) for Resting and all rooms of our house are filled with artifacts and museum pieces from all over the world. The NeighborhoodWe hope you enjoy the pictures of our house, the neighborhood, and of our experiences on The Camino de Santiago. Our neighborhood is special because it is 1) very quiet; 2) safe and secure; 3) great for strolling and jogging; 4) walking/running parks very close; 5) great views of surrounding area; 6) minutes away from historic downtown Moscow (1.4-mi from our house) and shopping areas and restaurants (yes, we do have very good restaurants); 7) a paved bicycle trail from Moscow to Troy and to Pullman; 8) the very high quality Gritman Medical Center/Hospital is right next to downtown area and easily accessible; 9) our exceptional Farmer's market, and 10) the bus stop is close and down the street from our house (0.4-mi) and/or bus can stop across from our cul de sac given 24-h notice (easy). We are accessible to you all of the time should you need us. Getting AroundIf arriving by plane, airport has car rentals available. Taxis are plentiful; Campus Cabs are the best. If traveler does not have a car rental, walking is safe and not far from all destinations in Moscow including downtown, the U. Idaho campus, grocery stores, pharmacies, [the superb] Gritman Medical Center, etcetera.
Also, we have an excellent bus service. Bus stop is 0.4-mi from our house, and/or the bus will stop across our cul-de-sac given 24-h notice. In emergencies, be assured that we will do our very best to assist and transport guests to medical emergencies and, if possible, to and from airport. We have a large driveway that can accommodate one Airbnb vehicle. Moscow, ID has 4 seasons with winters experiencing winds and accumulation of snow that travelers must prepare for. Our first significant snow accumulation the past 3 years has occurred the first week in November. NOTE: If you do not have an automobile, we have an excellent bus system. The bus stop is only 0.4-mi from our house. Alternatively, given 24-h notice, they will stop across the cul-de-sac from our house. Given advanced notice we will assist you with transportation from and to the airport.
If our guests are here between April and October, Moscow has one of the finest (recently ranked in the top 20 nationwide) farmer's market in the country (yes, we believe this!) that you may enjoy. It is awesome and a must experience. All year around the drive on the Palouse from Moscow to Lewiston is spectacular.
Importantly, the medical facilities both in Pullman, WA and in Moscow at the Gritman, should you need them, are state-of-the-art and excellent. Out-patient clinics are also available.
