Fill me in on the details of your trip and I'll see what I can do to connect you with any information and or resources you need.
I am always accessible by text day and night for guest concerns and questions. Whether or not I am personally available, it is important to me that you have everything you need during your stay. Sometimes my room mates assist me in making this happen as well. The NeighborhoodThe Uplands is in the Historic District right in the heart of Peoria. For over 10 years I have enjoyed the friendly and safe community feel and super convenient location of this neighborhood. No matter the season, familiar sights include Bradley students and professors alike walking to and from school, families walking to Bradley Park, and runners and dog owners making their usual rounds.
When the weather is warm I walk the streets and alleys with my dogs admiring the beautifully manicured landscapes and gardens of my neighbors. We usually end up at the fenced in dog park where my boys can run and play. Other times I may meet friends at the very popular frisbee golf course or relax at one of the many picnic areas with a book.
The neighborhood blends seamlessly with the Bradley University Campus which is just at the end of the block.
At least 15 restaurants and coffee shops (yes including Starbucks :) are clustered right next to Bradley's campus (One World and Than Linh are two of my favorites in Peoria).
Downtown Peoria is less than a 5 minute drive down Main Street. There you will find more great choices for food, coffee and drinks! Another popular place for a run is where Main street ends at Peoria's riverfront. Getting AroundINTERSTATE: I-74 is right outside of the Uplands and is the main highway coming in and out of Peoria as well as connecting you to most parts of the city. You can really get anywhere in Peoria in 10-15 minutes or less.
AIRPORT: if you know the secret backroad to the airport you can be there in 7-9 minutes depending on your driving skills...instructions in house manual :)
WALKABLE: Bradley University and lots of great food and coffee shops as well as a couple bars and art studios.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: If you take the bus into town, there is a bus stop at Bradley University which is a block from my home. I am not very familiar with public transport system otherwise. I know there is a full schedule of city buses but it is probably not the most efficient way to travel in Peoria.
TAXI SERVICE: Taxis are always accessible by phone. Beware that during events and certain holidays it may be difficult to get a taxi even by phone.
I may be able to coordinate minor local travel requests as well. Depending on your agenda/length of stay it may be best to rent a car. Other Things to Note- There are no longer pets living on the property. Due to a technical issue the mobile AirBnB app is still showing pets and AirBnB is working on fixing this glitch.
- I have one room mate that lives in a master attic space as well as an AirBnB basement apartment.
- Any other needs/concerns - just ask!
