Guests can also access facilities without entering the front door by walking down a short grassy slope and entering through the sliding glass doors in guest living room. Interaction with GuestsWe love to host people, but our work at the university keeps us quite busy. We look forward to meeting everyone and expect our interactions with guests to be primarily limited to check-ins, check-outs, and short conversations in passing. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is very quiet and safe. Our house is immediately adjacent to a popular community park with a children’s play area and three-quarter mile walking loop that circles a restored wetland prairie. The guest backyard faces a wooded area and cornfield. Getting AroundOur house is a five minute walk from the bus station which provides direct access to the University (2.5 miles away) and downtown Urbana (3.7 miles away) for $1. The bus runs in the morning and late afternoons on the weekdays only. For travel 9am to 3pm or after 6pm, and for bus travel on the weekends, guests will need to walk to the bus stop at the nearby grocery story (Meijers on Philo Rd) which is 0.8 miles away.
Bicycling in town is relatively easy. We have a bike stand and tools if guests need some bike maintenance equipment. Other Things to NoteWe live on the second level above the guest facilities with our 10lb hypo-allergenic Maltese poodle. The previous owners of our house had cats, but we have thoroughly cleaned to remove cat dander. We have hosted many people with severe cat/dog allergies without issues.
