The SpaceThis is a country setting. An older farmhouse on about an acre of ground. The sky view is outstanding including great sunsets and night sky. Open fields and country neighbors surround the house. A friendly tavern with good eats, good drinks, flat screen TVs, and good company next door. Real farmers and retired contractors tell great stories. Bambi and Bob, owners, will welcome you. Bedrooms are simple and roomy, clean and comfy. Many of the locals gather at the tavern next door to share a beer and a story or to watch the news or sports on the large flatscreens in the establishment. The hamburgers are hard to beat and the prices are reasonable. They also serve a nice wedge salad. There is a beauty salon/barber located in the tavern building. She does a great job. St. Philips Catholic Church is just up the road to the north. This is an old German Catholic community full of hardworking people and large families who have lived here for decades. There is no crime to speak of. People are friendly and helpful. This is country living at it's best, yet located just a few minutes from shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, work sites, or school in Evansville or Mt. Vernon. Both cities have lovely river fronts on the Ohio River. The beautiful USI campus is nearby with 200 acres of green space including biking and walking trails. Historic New Harmony is 20 minutes north. John J. Audubon State Park is 30 minutes south and across the river in Henderson, Kentucky. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. This is a rural setting. However, there is medical care, shopping, markets, theaters, restaurants, and more just a few miles away. Pizza is delivered to The Farmhouse and of course, the tavern is just next door. Other Things to NoteThe farmhouse is usually very quiet except for the rooster next door and the local train that rumbles by three times a day. The intrusion is brief. The community dog is Otis, an older black lab who visits and likes a bit of attention or a treat. Country living, yet close to shopping or work sites in Evansville or Mt. Vernon.
