The SpaceThe Recker House is a five bedroom, 10 guest property available in Alta Vista, Iowa, which is a small town in northeast Iowa. While The Recker House is a great property in and of itself, one of its most unique features is that a second house, Grandma Z's, is located directly across the street and which is also available for short term rentals. Between the two property, there is comfortable housing for 19 guests, making this a great area for families to gather for get aways, reunions, weddings, etc. These are also great properties for use by hunting parties, girlfriend weekends away, short term work assignments and more.
The Recker House is fully equipped with linens, towels, cookwear and dining needs. The main floor of this ranch styled house features two bedrooms, each with queen sized beds, a full bath room with a tub/shower combination (one of the bedrooms also contains a separate shower stall) , a stackable washer and dryer that can be used by guests, a large living room with seating for approximate ten and an open floor plan that allows the living, dining and kitchen areas to flow together.
The lower level of the home features a large family room with a 32" flat screen tv with a built-in dvd player, a kitchen area with a full sized stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc., a bathroom with a shower, two bedrooms with queen beds and a third bedroom with a double bed.
The house has central air and heat, egress window in the basement and has wireless internet access. There is a covered patio area behind the garage with table and chairs and a charcoal grill (guests will want to bring charcoal and lighter).
The doors to the home are coded with a four digit code unique to each group of guests so no need to worry about losing keys.
Our guests tell us they find everything they need here, plus more! There is a pack and play as well as a supply of toys and board games in the closets. The house is equipped with a hair dryer, iron, ironing board, two televisions each with basic cable service, washer and dryer, coffee pots, toasters, microwaves, dishwasher on main level.
When you leave, we ask that you take your garage to the containers in the garage and that you leave the house in relatively clean shape with dishes placed back in the cupboards. By doing so, you help us keep our rates low! We expect to wash the bedding and the towels and perform basic cleaning. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house during their stay. A bike trail is located about four miles from the property. The house is 15 miles from New Hampton, which is home to the annual Davis Bike Rally and about 18 miles from Charles City, where a white water rafting course is available on the Cedar River. Interaction with GuestsWe do not always have the opportunity to see our guests. We will have the house ready for your arrival and with the code you have chosen, you will be able to gain access to the property. While we recognize and respect your desire for privacy, we can generally be reached by phone or email or a stop at our house should you need something while you are staying at the property. The NeighborhoodAlta Vista is often referred to as The Friendly Town. We invite you to visit our community and discover why we've earned the right to use this title. While we are small with a population less than 300, we have a convenience store (that makes a great breakfast pizza and more), two bars/restaurants that offer tasty choices, a bank, post office, grain elevator, accredited library, five station, body shop, hair solon, insurance office, a Catholic church and a Lutheran church, and more. Weddings and other family gatherings are frequently held at the community hall located with in the town. The start of a paved bike trail is located approximately 4 miles from the property. Area communities include Elma, New Hampton, Charles City, and Cresco. If you are looking for a quiet, inexpensive get away, this may be just the place for you and your family! Getting AroundYou will arrive by car and you will need a car to get around. Other Things to NoteOur guests tell us this is a great place to gather when visiting relatives in the area. We also have groups stay with us when they gather as a family--we seem to be a good "middle" place for many families to meet for holidays, etc.
