I work most days, as does my husband. We both enjoy some hobbies and have a lot of family in town. In short, just let us know how much you want to hang out and well see to it. The NeighborhoodAbout the town:
Clinton is a scenic town on the banks of the Mississippi River which provides spectacular views and opportunities for recreation such as fishing, hunting, birding, kayaking, camping and boating, to name a few. There are tons of natural areas, trails, parks, and biking or walking areas nearby. We are 2 blocks to the 14 mile continuous trail from Eagle Point Park to Camanche, IA (the Discovery Trail, or Bike Path as it is more locally called). Eagle Point park is very close to our home and stunning! The park area includes: basketball, cross-country skiing, playground equipment, picnic tables & grills, restrooms, shelters. Picnic, hike or cross-country ski around this 200-acre park of spectacular bluffs along the river in Clinton. A 1937 Stone Tower provides a spectacular view of the Mississippi River and surrounding area. Children’s playgrounds are situated throughout the Park. The North end overlook provides a panoramic view of the widest part of the entire Mississippi River.
Visitors and citizens alike enjoy the Bickelhaupt Arboretum, Historical Society Museum, Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center, Class-A professional baseball games, and the Showboat Theatre.
Situated at the crossroads of the Lincoln Highway and the Great River Road, Clinton is the Eastern-most point in the State of Iowa. During the late 19th Century, Clinton was regarded as the lumber capital of the nation. Clinton was a pit stop for lumber to be cut and then shipped to growing communities east, west, north and south via the river and railroads. The railroad and the river continue to provide economic diversity in the area, attracting manufacturing and heavy industry to the community. Other Things to Note--We do have another spare room available with an air mattress. This room is set up as my office, thus would be an air mattress between two desks, although there is still plenty of space.
