The SpaceMarla and I work hard to keep our Superhost status and we recently became certified as an Iowa Bed&Breakfast Home so you are definitely in good hands. NOTE: You will most likely encounter other interesting visitors during your stay because we have three different Airbnb listings. 1) "The Ridgewood Ravine RnR: King + Bath" This room accommodates two people and has a private bathroom. 2) "The Ridgewood Ravine RnR: Queen Room" This listing accommodates two people with a shared bathroom in the hallway. 3) "The Ridgewood Ravine RnR: Double Room" with a shared bathroom in the hallway. Guest AccessYou will be comfy and set up in your private room but feel free to enjoy the common areas upstairs: living room, dining room, and kitchen. Make yourself at home on our big beautiful deck, in our back yard, and take a dip in our hot tub as long as you follow some basic rules - this way, we can keep it functioning properly and we wish to stay on good terms with our neighbors. Interaction with GuestsAll of our rooms are often booked so you will get to meet other guests during your stay which always makes more a more interesting experience :) NOTE: Apparently, the sound carries upstairs! If there are other guests present during your stay, please use common areas for chatty hanging out so the rooms can be quieter areas. Thanks! The NeighborhoodWe live on a quiet street on the North side of Iowa City. There's a great vibe up here in our neck of the woods. However, we'd like it to stay that way so please be quiet and respectful of neighbors when coming and going. Getting AroundWe are down the street from Hancher Auditorium, just 8 minutes drive from Kinnick Stadium + U of I Hospital and only 5 minutes from downtown Iowa City. It is a short walk (down our hill) to the free Cambus (the Mayflower dorm stop) which will take you throughout the entire university campus. Note: Construction is pretty insane around town right now. You can still access our road off of Dubuque Street but we will send you alternative directions once your booking is confirmed just in case. Note: There is no sidewalk going down our steep hill going down to the main road and it's pretty dark at night. People frequently walk there with no issues but just giving you that heads up in case this is a concern. Other Things to NoteFYI: There is no TV available for guests. The WIFI works well throughout the house so many people choose to watch programs on their phones/tablets. Just be aware of the volume if other guests are present. NOTE: The lower level is where we sleep. We also keep our two cats downstairs and therefore all downstairs doors must remain closed at all times. The cats are NOT allowed upstairs so that we can keep our house allergy-free and clean for our guests. You may see our cats outside when we are home; we supervise them with special collars on but please don't ever let them out on your own.

The NeighborhoodThe Historic Phillips House is located in the historic neighborhood of Goosetown, named after Bohemian who immigrants settled there and raised geese in their yards in the 1850’s. Originally built in 1923 for University of Iowa Dean Chester A. Phillips and his wife, Mary, the house is one of the many colonial-style properties in the area. Today, our location on N. Linn street is just a few blocks away from some of the best restaurants in Iowa City, such as the Hamburg Inn, a diner frequented by campaign-bound politicians and celebrities alike, and the Motley Cow, a farm to table café. From the window, you can see the newly built Hancher Auditorium, a 192,000-square-foot performance venue with shows almost every night, as well as the local City Park. Though public transportation via bus can be easily accessed, truly the best way to see Iowa City is by walking around. The Historic Phillips House is a short stroll away from downtown Iowa City and the University of Iowa main campus, yet far enough that the neighborhood is quiet and family-filled. Getting AroundClose to public transportation via bus.

There is a comfortable den with television on the same floor which we will use in the evenings to watch a movie or read. Guests are welcome to help themselves to a book from our bookshelf or use the TV (no cable, just Netflix). Upstairs there is a common living and dining area as well as a functional and spacious kitchen which guests are also welcome to use. Guest AccessEntrance to the bedroom is semi-private. Other Things to NoteFall is a very busy time of year for us. We of course want to host everyone who would like stay with us, and in order to do this we sometimes need to be flexible with room assignments during this time of year. While we will do everything in our power to keep you in the room you reserved, it might be necessary to move you into a suite of comparable or greater value (for no extra charge!) to accommodate all of our guests. We would notify you of any changes before your arrival, and would allow you to cancel with no penalty if this wasn't suitable for your needs.

The SpaceVery clean space available to guests. Guest AccessGuest can access bedroom and connected private bathroom, living room, kitchen area, and hallway coat closet. Kitchen use will be explained in Guest Guidebook. Interaction with GuestsI'll be in town most weekends, so guests can text/call me whenever during their stay with any questions. My roommate will be in the apartment while guests stay in case of any emergencies, but will remain out of the way for the most part. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood mainly consists of apartment buildings and houses occupied by a mixture of college students and permanent residents. The area is mostly quiet from the apartment, and typically doesn't see very much foot traffic. Getting AroundThe apartment is about 5 blocks from downtown Iowa City, and about 8 blocks from the Pentacrest. Very easy to walk around the downtown and campus area, even at night. Very upbeat downtown area during football games. Apartment is about 2 miles from Kinnick Stadium, or about a 35 minute walk through downtown and UI campus. Once downtown, UI Cambus provides free bus transportation around UI campus and locations. Coralville and Iowa City Transit buses also provide transportation from downtown Iowa City, but for a fee. Bus schedules may be different during Saturday UI football games. I would recommend guests to avoid driving around Iowa City downtown or Kinnick Stadium for an hour or two after football games end due to traffic (both cars and pedestrians). Other Things to NoteFree street parking available on both Dodge St. and Bowery St.

The SpaceApartment is perfectly situated minutes away from downtown Iowa City + University campus - I'd say 5 minutes by car and a 10-15 minute walk depending on where you're headed. Many of my neighbors do not have a car. It's nice to be slightly out of downtown because you'll experience less noise. You'll always find an immaculate apartment in a building that only rents to graduate students/working professionals. Guest AccessParking on site, washer and dryer in basement. Interaction with GuestsI will not be in Iowa City while guests are staying at apartment but will be completely accessible by phone. My boyfriend lives across the street, and is available should anything arise during your stay! The NeighborhoodJust across the river from downtown Iowa City, you'll get some peace and quiet over here. The view from the third floor is lovely! You'll hear the wind blowing in the trees right outside the window. And because parking is included out back, you never have to drive around looking for a spot - which is tough downtown! Getting AroundVery close to public transit as well as free university shuttle (open to public). Other Things to NoteI do not have Cable TV (or get any stations, period).
