The guest home is located on an acre of land in the backyard of a ranch style home. The 800 square foot guest home, commonly referred to as "The Barn" is a traveler's paradise and an opportunity for one or two people to relax and experience total tranquility. Windows throughout the space offer views of the yard, a wishing well, a bird feeder, a white picket fence, and tall oak and maple trees. The Barn has central AC and central heat. There is a small antenna run TV. WiFi is provided and you will receive the password upon arrival. The kitchenette has basic essentials. There is a tea kettle, a small refrigerator, and small functioning vintage stove with pans and a pour over with fresh coffee. Freshly laundered bed linens, blankets and towels as well as wood for the fireplace,are provided. A grocery store is conveniently located about two blocks from the Barn (as are some awesome restaurants, all in walking distance). The bed has a down comforter. A key will be provided for the guest(s) to check themselves in after 3pm. Hosts are available by text/email or phone during their stay if there any problems or questions. The Barn is located on the south side of Des Moines (one mile from the airport) and a short 5-10 minute drive to downtown or to the bypass, which connects easily to West Des Moines.
Please note there is an approximately 100 yard walk from the driveway to the cabin.

The home is located less than a mile from Gray's Lake, which hosts a beautiful walking trail, and about a mile from Waterworks Park which includes a series of biking and hiking trails. The neighborhood is safe and has things to do within walking distance. Guest AccessIn addition to the entire guest home, there is off street parking, various bikes (including tandems) if requested prior to arrival, option for airport shuttle pick up and drop off, and if desired -- a local tour guide or two! There are also other amenities available upon request or desire (gym pass, breakfast, or more...) just ask!!! Interaction with GuestsAt guest's preference. We may have no interaction or be involved in the comings and goings, at the AirBnb-er's discretion...however, we are a very friendly bunch and are happy to accommodate whatever you need! Sometimes, guests come in to our home for breakfast, lunch or dinner but only if interest is shown! The NeighborhoodDes Moines as a whole boasts a growing, dynamic economy. With restaurants and local retail abound, there is an abundance of things to do and see in Des Moines. Numerous recreational activities exist, on local lakes, trails and more. The home is close to Waterworks Park and Gray's Lake, Skip's Restaurant, Francie's Lounge, Fleur Cinema and Cafe and much more! Getting AroundOff street parking. Having a car is necessary in a place like Des Moines although Uber exists. No trains are available though the city has a well-planned bus system. Other Things to NoteWe've hosted many parties, bands, campers, and more in our back yard and would be happy to do any of the above for you! Rates are negotiable.
