This is our 100+ year old shotgun bungalow located in the historic and vibrant Volker neighborhood. We called this home for better than 10 years. During that time, we completely renovated it, while keeping the historic charm. Two kids later..... we're now offering it to you. You get the place all to yourself. No noise annoyances above, or below. Just a nice, quiet, and peaceful home to call your own. The home has one bedroom with a Queen size bed, as well as a sleeper couch in the front room/library. Ideal for 2. Happy to accept up to 4. The home has all the amenities of a fully functioning place. Including Wifi, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Pandora, (no cable). A full size washer and dryer. A library of books and movies. A bicycle, helmet, and lock. Even a sewing machine. There's no shortage of things to do nearby, many within walking distance. 39th street - boutique shops, excellent international restaurants, bars. (URL HIDDEN) Westport - more eclectic shops, restaurants, and lots of nightlife, including live music. (URL HIDDEN) Plaza - 3 minute drive. Shopping, Restaurants, and great people watching. (URL HIDDEN) Union Station/Crown Center - less than 10 minute drive - historic train station/shops/restaurants/activities. (URL HIDDEN) and (URL HIDDEN) Power and Light District - 10 minute drive. Restaurants and nightlife. One of KC's newest hotspots. (URL HIDDEN) .....and those are just some of the biggies. The list goes on. We just love the midtown energy. Hope you will too

I can grocery shop for you for an extra $10 if you need a few things but won't have the time to grab them yourself. For breakfast, I will leave out some fruit, bagels, cream cheese, and cereal - just let me know if you have any dietary needs and I can try to accommodate. The TV in the guest room isn't exactly modern, but it's all I have for now; better this than nothing, right? please refrain from drinking the booze or eating the food in the house. I would be more than happy to leave a few things out for you that you can have. there are some warm and cozy slippers for you in the suitcases under the tv. (i learned this while living in europe.) Interaction with GuestsYou will have a little local refreshment greeting you when you arrive. Depending on when you are visiting, I will be here, or you can have the place to yourself. I am on the go a lot, but would love to get you settled in even if I can't stay. The NeighborhoodWelcome to the city of fountains, jazz, and BBQ! I love the location of my neighborhood and its diversity. Kansas City, KS is basically the same city as Kansas City, MO, just separated by the state line. I am just a few streets west of the state line. We have the best KC BBQ - Oklahoma Joes! One of the best patios in town is walking distance; a little taco joint called Taco Republic. The new IKEA is just a hop, skip, and jump down the highway. My street is relatively quiet with nice neighbors and 10 minutes away from just about everything this town has to offer. Getting AroundWe have Uber and Lyft and a local bus line to help you get around. KC does have a bus system you can connect to if you don't have a car. I will have that map in the room for you. If I am able, I can pick you up from the airport for an additional $30. I do have off-street parking available if you have a car. Other Things to NoteMy family has a farm where we specialize in grass fed beef and farm-to-table dinners. If this is down your alley, I can have some local beef available for you when you arrive to purchase or some of our crazy good preserved food. (My favorite are my mom's jams;)) Ask if you have more questions. The bathroom is a shared bathroom located between the bedrooms.

The SpaceRoom 5: "The Backyard Bungalow" , downstairs, includes a QUEEN SIZE bed, night stand, dresser. Has bathroom attached, which is shared ONLY during wake hours. -------------------- This house is located within a five bedroom house, two bathroom house in historic Hyde Park in Kansas City, Missouri. This house offers a beautiful kitchen, comfortable porch swing, a growing vegetable garden, peaceful backyard, large living room with working fireplace. It is within five to ten minutes of Westport, the Plaza, downtown, 39th street, and Brookside. Easy bus line access, Troost/39th Street. I call my house "The Circus" because of all the coming and going that happens around there. (I'm also a clown). It is not uncommon for there to be a meditation circle or rehearsal for a play in the living room or upstairs. It is a peaceful place, filled with healing. Guest AccessLiving Room, Sitting Room, Kitchen, Front Porch, Back Porch, Yard, Meditation Studio (if available), basement/laundry, house pets! Interaction with GuestsYou become one with the house when staying here. I'll often be around the house, cleaning, gardening, living. If timing works out, I'd love to connect with you. Sometimes I'll be feeling less talkative, it's nothing personal. The experience here can be very social or very quiet-- it'll likely be just right for what you need. The Neighborhood(mostly) Quiet streets with big beautiful trees. Like any city, Kansas City can be dangerous, although I find the neighborhood to be comfortable, be aware of the block to block nature, and lock your cars. Getting AroundEasy access to the Troost and 39th street bus lines. Uber is great for poppin' about town. Super Shuttle is great in getting to and from airport. Book in advance. I also am happy to offer rides/let you borrow my car, if timing so allows. Gas money or an exchange of some sort is always appreciated. About 25 minutes driving from airport. About 8 minutes from the the Union station (trains). About 15 minutes from the MEGABUS Station. About 10 minutes from the Greyhound Station. About 12 minutes from KC Convention Center/downtown. Other Things to NoteWho to expect at residence: Hailey (host): clown/healer (if I'm not traveling, I'll be there). Bryan (her love): playwright and (cubs) baseball guru. Gordon (dog): loves to jump and belly scratches Tyler (R2): banker and celebrity worshiper. Gemma (dog): loves to bark at arrivals and back scratches. Zac (R5): chiropractor and holistic explorer. Lucy (cat): loves to eat and go indoors/outdoors. Other airbnb guests and animals: of all shapes and sizes! Incense and sage are common smells about the house!

The SpaceOne room available in the Homes for Hackers house fully wired with (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Fiber gigabit internet. Perfect opportunity to visit Kansas City and test out your latest app, startup idea or consumer hardware on a gigabit fiber-optic network. We now have a total of 18 Ethernet jacks positioned in 7 different rooms in the house to plug directly into a hard line, accessing (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Fiber. We typically experience upload & download speeds of 800-900 Mbps over Ethernet and 150 Mbps over WiFi. One block from the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Fiber Space. Click on the Street View tab above to see a 3D tour inside the hacker house using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps Street View. The other rooms in the house are already in use by up to 4 startup entrepreneurs as part of the Homes for Hackers program. Excellent collaborative opportunity to bounce ideas off of other entrepreneurs and hackers that are also staying in the house. In fact, by renting this room you are directly supporting startups and entrepreneurs in Kansas City. Homes for Hackers is also a member of the KC Startup Village, around a dozen startups in a 2 block radius, including the 3 startups at this location. Find out more at HomesForHackerscom & kcstartupvillageorg. Plenty of desk space around the house to work, with whiteboards in common rooms. The bathroom is shared. The accommodation itself is very basic. Kitchen is fully equipped and available for your use but breakfast is not included. Ample parking spaces. Walking distance to the Country Club Plaza upscale shopping area and Westport restaurants/bars/coffee shops. Interaction with GuestsI am always available to answer questions about the area and will generally make a good effort to accommodate requests as needed. The NeighborhoodThe Hacker House resides in the Kansas City Startup Village. There start-up business and a co-working space right on the same street. Getting AroundPlease do not park on the driveway on the north side of the house. That is the neighbor's drive, not ours. The houses are very close together and the driveways are confusing. As you face the front of the house, the drive on the left (south) is ours and please make sure you park there. Other Things to NoteThe bed in the airbnb room is a twin bed with a twin mattress. Some guests have expressed surprise at how small the bed is so I thought I'd mention it here to reduce surprises. (All the rooms in the house are small and most cannot realistically accommodate larger beds than a twin.)

The SpaceWe are a gated apartment community we love dogs, the most pet friendly property in Westport. We have 3 off leash play yards for socialized pets. We are located right in the heart of the Westport Entertainment District. Some of the best dining and shopping as well as clubbing anywhere in the city. Westport Manor is conveniently located between the Crossroads area and the Country Club Plaza area. Close to great public transportation and walking to many of the areas of interest is possible. People describe our area of the city as very Bohemian. Our stay in Westport was fantastic. John was great with contact and Jamie was super friendly and helpful when we arrived. The area of Westport is great and you are close to some really cool bars and restaurants without having to go downtown to the touristy areas. The apartment is really spacious and very comfortable and the a/c a great feature for the humid days! These are apartments with Hard Wood Floors. You may experience some noise from the unit above you. You may request a 2nd floor unit if you want something quieter. Guest AccessFREE Coffee & Creamer Guests have access to all the common areas of the property. We have a great Grill area that many guests enjoy complete with a cold beverage vending machine. Kansas City is famous for it's BBQ. And we've got the Hook-up for DIY BBQ aficionados. We have vending for cold beverages. And of course our communal seating and dog play areas provide opportunities to mingle with local people that live here and there pets. if your pet needs a bath or grooming we offer a self service Pet wash and Grooming Salon. Interaction with GuestsI respect my guests and residents privacy so I tend to be pretty laid back and only interact when absolutely necessary or when invited. John G. About Your Host: Mr. Garcia was an evacuee from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and had returned home to Kansas City after the devastation there. He was born and raised in the great plains. His family owned many farms and ranches in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. He has a varied background including EMS, Law Enforcement, Food Service and Event and Interior Design. He is a people person with the highest ethical standards and believes that everyone should be treated as he would want to be. He is a dog lover with 2 of his own and has been able to create a unique environment for people and pets here in Westport. Westport Manor also has an orchard and community garden. A truly unique Living Experience The NeighborhoodThis is just the greatest neighborhood in Kansas City. I like to tell the story that I moved away from here 35 years ago. I moved from my home in the Westport/Midtown area of KC. I lived in "Old Naples" Naples, Fl. Ft Myers, Fl and finally New Orleans, La. One of my favorite places in Florida was Ybor City and the Spanish Quarter. In New Orleans it was the French Quarter. I guess what endeared me to all those "Bohemian" places was that they reminded me of home here in Westport. Westport is that laid back Bohemian neighborhood that if you love that sort of thing then you will be at home here if even for a short period of time. Be sure to check out the online Guide Book here to get acquainted with all there is to see and do while in the Greater Kansas City area. Getting AroundThere is convenient public transportation every where, Busses', Taxis', Trolleys', Party Busses, Parking is included within our gated community. Park and head out to the party using any number of great public transportation options. Air port shuttles are available to take you to and from the airport runs about $20.00 one way Other Things to NoteKansas City is the "City of Fountains" there are fountains everywhere. Kansas City also boasts one of the finest art museums in the country at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Kansas City is also proud to host the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Kansas City also hosts the NCAA March Madness Tournaments. Airbnb Shared When we heard the news yesterday, we thought of the amazing couples we got to meet in this film. The SpaceEveryone who enters my home always comments on how cozy and inviting it is. I hope you experience this for yourself! There is ample space and storage for your stuff. The layout is open with plenty of windows for good lighting. I even have two driveways!?! I live here full time. Guest AccessMi casa es su casa. Take good care of it!!! There are some warm and cozy slippers in the suitcase under the guest room tv. (I learned this little hospitality treat while living in Europe.) Please refrain from eating the food or drinking the booze in the house. If you would like something, we can talk about what you will need and I would be happy to help. Interaction with GuestsYou will have a little local refreshment greeting you when you arrive. ;) The NeighborhoodWelcome to the city of fountains, jazz, and BBQ! I love the location of my neighborhood and its diversity. Kansas City, KS is basically the same city as Kansas City, MO, just separated by the state line. I am just a few streets west of the state line. We have the best KC BBQ - Joe's Kansas City! One of the best patios in town is walking distance; a little taco joint called Taco Republic. The new IKEA is super close as well. My street is relatively quiet with nice neighbors and 10 minutes away from just about everything this town has to offer. Getting AroundWe have Uber and Lyft and a local bus line (Rosedale 105) to help you get around. KC does have a bus system that you can connect to if you don't have a car. (My favorite are my mom's jams ;) ) Ask if you have more questions. The bathroom is a shared bathroom located between the bedrooms.
