The SpaceThis listing is for our 4th bedroom with private bathroom. The bedroom is on the ground floor and has a full size bed as well as a small table with chairs. Our house is a traditional double, Creole Cottage built in the mid 1800's before the Civil war and has been added to a number of times over the years. I was trained as an Architect, and have played trumpet since the age of eight and currently my trio plays at Tommy's Wine Bar every Saturday night. My son Avery and I are in the process of restoring the cottage to its original character. My Wife Liz helps run a Womens Clothing Boutique in the French Quarter (just a stones throw from Jackson Square) which she commutes to either on foot along the Oak lined Esplanade Ave. with it's 'Gone with the Wind' houses or by the use of her trusty old cruiser (This town is very Bike friendly). My Son Avery moved here from New Zealand a couple of years ago to assist with the renovations, and help run Airbnb. He's a bit of a computer geek and belongs to a local Steam Punk group. For those times you need a little down time, feel free to make use of our spacious (private) back yard, or find a spot on one of the chairs in our living room. Liz and I have traveled extensively (usually on a shoestring) and have friends in a number of countries, we're always happy to recount the tales of our adventures, or to listen to yours. It's a 20 minute walk(15 minute power walk!) to the French Quarter under those gorgeous 200 year old Oaks, surrounded by gorgeous 200 year old houses, on what used to be the old streetcar line. We have four beautiful rescued cats. Miss Doris Day from the Bronx and a few locals, Brian Lion and Rocky Raccoon and Prince Harry. Our latest rescue is Sgt Pepper a Border Collie. Guest AccessGuests have full run of the house and back yard, use of the bikes and a shared bathroom. Guests are also welcome to put food and drinks in the refrigerator, although all guest rooms have their own bar fridge as well. Interaction with GuestsWe work on the house most days and are otherwise generally around, generally we have several guests staying with us at a time as well. Getting AroundNo off-street parking available, however there is plenty of free on-street parking. Recommended transport to or from the airport is by Taxi, currently all companies have a set fee of $36 ($14 extra per person after 2 people) the airport shuttle is also an option but usually insists on stopping at a hotel and charges are around $20 per person. UberX now operates in New Orleans and can now pickup from the airport, their set fare is $34.50 (increases with surge) or if you go across the road from the airport the fare is usually closer to $25. Taking the bus is also possible, however the bus from the airport only runs once an hour, requires making a transfer and does not run weekends or evenings. Other Things to NoteFrequently Asked Questions Q: How far are you from the French Quarter and Frenchman St? A: We’re under a mile from the near end of the French Quarter, to get to the River and Frenchman St is just over a mile, most people can make the walk in around 20 minutes. Q: How far are you from the Morial Convention Center? A: The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is about 2.5 miles away, we recommend taking a Taxi, alternately there is a bus which takes you most of the way with a total travel time closer to 30 minutes. Q: Do you offer breakfast? A: Yes, we offer Toast, home made Muesli, fresh Fruit, Coffee or Tea. Breakfast is informal and guests are encouraged to help themselves to what is on offer. Q: Do you have any pets in the house? A: We have a border collie and several cats, for this reason guests with allergies may want to consider alternate accommodation. Q: Do you have bikes? A: We currently have eight bikes which are shared between rooms, we do not take reservations on the bikes although it is rare for all of them to be in use at once. U-Locks are provided with the bikes. Q: Can we get fresh sheets and Towels during our stay? A: Fresh Towels and sheets are provided, but more are available on request Q: What Size is the Bed in this room? A: The Bed in this room has a Double (Full Size) mattress. Q: Do you offer early Check-in or Late Check-out? A: While we cannot guarantee the availability of rooms outside of normal check in times (Check-out 11am, Check-in 2pm) guests who are arriving early are welcome to drop their luggage off with us and get a key, we are also happy to look after the luggage of guests who are leaving town late in the day. Q: When I try to book the room Airbnb gives me an error regarding verification. A: We require all Airbnb guests who book with us to be ID verified, if you are having trouble with this we recommend contacting Airbnb directly as they handle the verification process. Q: When I try to book Airbnb wont let me put in the dates I want. A: In most cases this is because someone else has already booked the room for those nights. However we generally block out dates more than six months in advance as we prefer not to take bookings this far ahead, however if you are looking at booking a stay of a week or longer six months to a year in the future we are willing to discuss it. Q: Airbnb will not let me book a one night stay. A: The minimum stay in both our #1, #3, and #4 rooms (the rooms with private bathrooms) is two nights, although we are sometimes willing to override this setting in special circumstances. Q: I have a friend who wants to stay with us, can they sleep on the floor? A: Unfortunately the maximum number of people we allow in this room is two, if your friend wants to stay with you they will either need to book a room for themselves with us or find alternate accommodation. Q: When I put the dates in I wanted the price of the room went up. A: The nightly price of the room is variable, the price for weekends and during certain events (such as Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest) the price is higher, in some circumstances Airbnb reverts to showing the base nightly price and then shows the exact price when it calculates the total price of your stay. Q: Are there any additional fees involved in my stay? A: In most cases the total shown by Airbnb is the total price you pay, the most common exception to this is to cover damages, other costs are rare and subject to discussion and agreement.

Carrollton Ave within five minutes of Tulane Univ, Loyola Univ, and most Uptown neighborhoods and restaurants. Just minutes away from the interstate, you can get anywhere you want to be downtown in a hurry as well. The South is known for its old-fashioned beauty and genteel charm; for graceful live oaks shading the drive and drooping with Spanish moss; Locals take pains to preserve their most historic streets and the very special sense of place created over centuries. This street fits that description perfectly. It's pretty enough to star in pictures, and tourist-friendly to boot. Getting AroundYou can take a ride down history and get most anywhere in the city for only $1.25 on The New Orleans Streetcar Line. It is the oldest continuously operating streetcar line in the world and one of 2 National Historic Moving Landmarks in the US. You can even stop at Walgreens on the way to the Streetcar to buy your beverage of choice and take it on the streetcar with you! Most people who don't want to wait for public transportation rent a car or uber/taxi around. A quick Uber ride will get you pretty much anywhere in the city. We have personally found Uber to be the most convenient and most affordable option when exploring a fun city, and guests have gotten rides into the Quarter for as low as $7. For a free Uber ride use this app code: Ride4FreeNOLA or sign up here (URL HIDDEN) Bus services are also within walking distance. We have plenty of street parking on our block if you rent a car. Other Things to NoteThis is a ground-level apartment, and although most guests have had no complaints, the ceiling height is about 6 1/2 feet. We've found that most people spend the majority of their time sitting/sleeping, and even our taller guests have felt comfortable and have enjoyed the many amenities the apartment offers. Read our many reviews for a better idea of how the ceiling height has impacted our guests. House is pet friendly, but we do charge an additional $25/ pet toward extra cleaning to ensure our guests who don't have pets never notice their previous presence. Also, we try our best to work with guests for early check-in or late check-out where possible, but we also must consider our other guests and the cleaning crew's needs to prepare the way for them. If you do not check-out in time for our cleaning crew to start cleaning upon their arrival, there will be a $50 service charge automatically charged to your deposit. Our goal is to ensure this is one of your best Airbnb stays ever, so if something isn't right with your stay, we want to work to blow you away!

National Geographic has recommended that tourists explore the neighborhoods of New Orleans. Most tourists do not have an opportunity because so few are available to tourists. Audubon Park House is in the Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans where Victorian homes are cherished. This B&B offers the tourist a very unique place to stay in a very unique part of the city. Just recently National Geographic filmed the lagoon located minutes away which is a sanctuary filled with the sounds of wild birds, wild ducks, ibises, egrets, and herons. A streetcar runs at the head of the park which enables tourists to visit the historical French Quarter. At the foot of the park is the Audubon Zoo and at it's back runs the mighty Mississippi River. A swamp exhibit in the zoo captures the true nature of New Orleans before it was established as an urban center. One can experience the history of the city through the eyes of owner Barbara Lefevre Martin, who was born down River on land which was once part of a plantation where the British battled for the control of Louisiana in 1812. She will be happy to share her history with her guests.
