The SpaceOur house is a two-story ranch on the western edge of New Orleans, in Jefferson Parish. We back-up to the Mississippi River & a paved levee trail that goes into the city (great for bikes, runs, walks). The main guest room has a queen bed, a roll-out bed & opens onto a balcony. The second bedroom has a double bed and a sofa that folds out into a bed. We host one booking at a time so so the only people using your bathroom are the ones you brought with you. More than four of you? No problem- we have a Murphy bed, 2 sleeper couches, a fold-a-bed, and a very nice RV, so contact us and discuss your needs if you have a bigger group, and lowered expectations about privacy ;) The rates stated are for two folks- we tack on $10 for each additional to help cover the added laundry and meals. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the house, internet, laundry, or anything else we can offer. We have keys for the door. Check in is at 1:00, check out is at 11:00. We can sometimes accommodate other arrival/departure times, depending on schedules & bookings, so please, ask! Interaction with GuestsWe love to meet new people but work full time. We have the evening meal together, around 6:00 PM. The menu is posted in the kitchen: Monday is traditionally Red Beans & Rice, Friday is fish, but we do take "requests" & might be coerced into cooking vegan, vegetarian, or allergy considerate meals if desired. The NeighborhoodThis neighborhood is quiet and residential with a low crime rate. The levee behind the house is patrolled by police 24-7. Getting AroundA bus runs into down town from Jefferson Highway (a block from the house) approximately every 20 minutes for $2. Search Jefferson Parish E3 route for details (sched posted under our photos). Once in the city you can use the streetcars. We do have plenty of parking if you get a rental car and we are 10 minutes from the airport. The city recently allowed Lyft & Uber to operate here, so that is also an option. Other Things to NoteYou have full access to the house- treat it like you live here. But two things usually come up so let me say here: we are maybe 25 minutes from the city center so getting to the French Quarter requires a bus, car, taxi, or bike; and there are other streets w/same address so plug in our zip code to get the right one.
