The SpaceThis large Maine home, built in 1900, is a wonderful, comfortable old house that has been re-furbished from top to bottom. It has three apartments, the middle (second floor) of which is available for short term rentals. The kitchen and bath have all new appliances, including a washer/dryer. This is an ideal place for a couple with room for another 1-2 people. There is a huge deck out back to enjoy the beautiful Maine Summer outdoors. Guest AccessThe guests will have access to the front and back doors to the house. Inside the foyers, there are stairs, front and back, to get into the apartment. The back door to the apartment is convenient to and on the same level as the deck. One key opens all house and apartment doors. Interaction with GuestsI hope to be here as much as possible. However, my two sons and their wives have very young children with whom we often spend time. When I am not in Belfast, I have a good friend who assists me with making sure that guests have everything they need. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a beautiful area in which to take a leisurely stroll. It is an in-town neighborhood of old, elegant, established and well kept homes. You can walk a block to Belfast Bay or the park and then take the new harbor walk. Be sure and peruse the downtown offerings that are also a block away. There is a three screen cinema, the Colonial, with the best variety of movies, documentaries and other cultural offerings I have seen anywhere for a very reasonable cost. Galleries, restaurants and four independent bookstores and great shops could keep you busy for days, but if you prefer to explore beyond our boundaries you will find plenty of places to go and things to do. Getting AroundThe Coop is just across the Main Street from us and up, barely a half block ( two minute walk, topside!). The Coop store is, mostly, the only place I shop when I am here. It has great food, natural and organic offerings that are fun and tasty. There is also a cafe inside with yummy soups, homemade sandwiches, salads and so on. If you need a main stream grocery store, Hannafords is not far away (about a mile) but you will most likely want to drive there. There are, however, sidewalks the whole way there. Other Things to NoteYou will park on the right side of the driveway, just short of where the carport starts - or in front of the house.

The SpaceBelfast is a picturesque town in beautiful midcoast Maine. My home is a 5-minute walk to the center of town, and has great harbor views. Open floor plan, hardwood floors, and a spacious kitchen and outdoor barbecue/deck for enjoying the bay. It is a 3-story house with plenty of room, and the guest room is available to rent all year. It is on the 2nd floor, and I have an attic bedroom which allows for space and privacy. My partner, Erik, shares the house with me and his 5-yr-old daughter visits every other weekend. She is very well-behaved and enjoys meeting visitors! You are welcome to share the fridge and kitchen space during your stay, and there is a full laundry in the basement. Wireless is also included. If you enjoy playing pool, I also have a Brunswick pool table in the games room! Guest AccessPretty much everything, it's an open floor plan house and there are no restricted areas (other than my top floor bedroom). The 2nd floor bathroom is essentially for guest use, except for morning showers - my partner Erik and I tend to get up early for work and are out of the house by 7:30 am. Interaction with GuestsI have an active lifestyle, and tend to be out doing things in my community or fitting in exercise. Guests should feel welcome to come in and make themselves at home if I'm not here to personally greet them! The NeighborhoodEverything! I love being able to walk into town, and that this is a year-round community. There is so much going on and the town has maintained a local, quirky, artsy feel.

The SpaceThe cottage is a mixture of old and new - originally an old hunting cabin, it has been recently renovated to offer all the comforts of home while still maintaining it's history. In the living room there are visitor messages from the '40s to the present on the walls. The cottage is within sight of Toddy Pond Farm, but has total privacy. Relax on the screen porch, take a nap on the window seats or explore the 500+ acres of woods surrounding the cottage. There is a farm store to purchase these items as well as our grass-fed pasture raised meats and eggs. Guests also enjoy private access to Toddy Pond for swimming, boating and fishing. Over 1 mile of frontage on the pond assures total privacy. Interaction with GuestsYour hosts Greg and Heide live and work full time on Toddy Pond Farm with our two sons, Guthrie (16) and Oliver (13). Our goal is to be available as needed by our guests and to ensure everything is more than satisfactory. Feel free to visit the farm, ask questions, watch the morning milking operation or visit the animals out on pasture. Learn more about the (EMAIL HIDDEN) The NeighborhoodThere are no neighbors within sight or sound of the farm. Monroe is a wonderful small town with a rich and vibrant farming and artist community nestled just outside of the Belfast. Getting AroundThe farm is located at the end of a 1 mile dirt road that is town maintained, but depending on the season can be muddy or snow covered. There is a steep hill just before reaching the cottage. If you have questions or concerns about access please contact us prior to your arrival. Other Things to NoteWhile private, the farm cottage is just 15 minutes from Belfast for sightseeing, shopping, natural foods, arts and fine dining. Many of our guests come for these reasons, but actually end up spending most of their time relaxing and enjoying all that the farm and cottage have to offer.

The SpaceYou won't find a better location. Conveniently located off Route 1 (and just a few minutes' drive to downtown Belfast, supermarkets, restaurants, and more) but on a quiet private corner, right on the ocean. Enjoy the large deck or stroll across the lawn and go down the private stairs to the beach! High-speed wifi is accessible throughout the house and on the deck, and digital HD cable is installed in all three bedrooms and the living room. Heat and electricity is included. You'll love being right on the water and in a quiet, friendly neighborhood, but you'll also have all the privacy you want in this surprisingly secluded location. No house in the area shares all of this, plus south-facing 180-degree panoramic views of the ocean (and consequently, every sunrise and sunset). You'll need a car to get around Belfast, but you may not want to stray from La Mer too often! The SpaceSpacious and comfortable home situated where a small river flows into Penobscot Bay. May be rented for one week or more, with a discount for a 2-wk rental. Usual rental includes up to 6 people. The house has spacious rooms --- kitchen, living, dining, 3 bedrooms, each with a bathroom. Beds include a king, a queen and a double. The grounds are tree-lined and nicely landscaped. The water comes almost up to the lawn at high tide, and at low tide the water goes far out, exposing rocks and tidepools with lots of bird activity, including bald eagles. A rowboat is included in the rental. Water in the river is warmer for swimming than most of the open coastal water in this area. Location is five minutes from downtown Belfast, a beautiful coastal town with good restaurants, galleries, shops, a food co-op, movies, as well as all the necessities (drug stores, supermarket, hospital, etc). It is also 20 minutes from Camden and 1 1/2 hr from beautiful Acadia National Park. We have held small weddings on the lawn here with the bay as a backdrop. For an added fee, a wedding might be part of your stay. A well-behaved pet could be considered. Location: Belfast Guest AccessUse of shore, water for swimming, row boat, sit on top kayak. Interaction with GuestsWe like to meet our guests but it is not necessary. We work part time at this location so are around some. The NeighborhoodWe particularly love that the river flows into the bay here. There is a waterfall over a dam just a short row/paddle/swim away and because the water is coming from a reservoir it is warmer than the sea. We love the large tide and how interesting the flats are at low tide. The river runs out through the flat and children love playing in the shallow swiftly running water. We are very happy to be only 3 miles from downtown Belfast, a town we find delightful. Getting AroundThere are only taxis for getting to town but because town is close it is not cost prohibitive.

The SpaceCurrently not available as it needed more fixing up than I recalled. .......The Beavertail is a ancient and famous bar in the Passagassawaukeag River in the upper tidal portion of Belfast Maine. (URL HIDDEN) You can see the Beavertail at the left center where it protrudes into the river. This is a small rustic cabin at about 5' above sea level and high tides come close to the edge of the cabin. There is an area for sitting around outside, there is a large area under the trees where you can sit around or move yourself out on the Beavertail in the sun or under the stars and have a campfire. The cabin is located a few steps off the recently complete Belfast Rail Trail for hikers and bikes on the bed of the Belfast Moosehead Lake Railroad. The cabin itself is a low ceiling 10' x 17' shed roof style. No running water. No modern toilet facilities. We provide water for washing and cleaning and a primitive bucket toilet with some privacy. There is a gas stove, a loft style bed, kerosene lights, candles, etc. You park on the other side of the road and it is a short trip across the road, over the guard rail, down 8 steps, cross the trail, down 15 more steps and you are there. Eagles, Osprey, the occasional seal, some fishing, and a tide that comes and goes all day long. You can easily kayak, walk or drive into town. It is really easy to bicycle. This is a very private place. No neighbors except across the wide river. What's ancient? The native Americans used this spot to spear fish by moonlight and that's what the river is named. CURRENTLY the Beavertail is being renovated and cleaned up for guests. It is currently not available. Guest Accessall of it. Interaction with GuestsI will greet you and other than that you are on your own.

The SpaceOur Downtown Gem is located on the second floor of a 200-year-old, Federal-style building (not handicap accessible). The apartment overlooks Belfast's Main Street on one side and a large, grassy yard on the other. The space itself is about 400 sq. feet, and consists of a 15'x15' room with a small kitchen alcove and a separate bathroom. It's perfect for two people. Interaction with GuestsJohn and I live near Lincolnville Beach, which is 12 miles from Belfast. Our guests are on their own unless they need our help, which we are more than happy to give. The NeighborhoodOur Downtown Gem is about two blocks from Belfast's center and about 6 blocks from the harbor. Belfast is a "real" town (even though it's officially a city). It has a shoe store, hardware store, coop, movie theater, etc. but also, wonderful restaurants, shops, boatyards, walking paths, etc. These are all part of our neighborhood. Getting AroundYou wouldn't need Belfast's public transportation, (which is limited) since the apartment is located downtown. However, you would need a car to explore the surrounding area. Other Things to NoteThe studio apartment is on the second floor, and there is no handicapped access. Apologies.

The SpaceI have a beautiful, 2-bedroom house in Belfast, ME with views of the ocean. It features an open design kitchen/living area, light and spacious, and a great spot to hang out and cook, eat, socialize. There is a deck with a Weber grill for a relaxed evening watching the boats in the harbor. My home is a 5-minute walk to our charming downtown. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Comparable homes in the area rent for significantly more money, but because I have a cat that would need to be fed while I'm away the price is lower.

The SpaceHi Travelers! Thanks for looking at our site. A bit about the house: It's rustic. There are often remodeling projects going on. There will be dust and the hot water is only good for a 20 minute shower. There is no WiFi, and many cell services are spotty at best. We're working on it; we're just not there yet. So, we thank our AMAZING guests for such wonderful reviews and ratings, we just want to let those of you considering a stay with us know that it's a bit rough. I'm also sad to write that at this time we cannot accept people with small children. There are often construction projects going on, and in our backyard is a pond and marsh; things that are not safe for kids. Not super safe for those who are prone to tripping over/ falling into things either. We know who we are. Will keep you posted for when things improve. My grandparents built this quonset house in the 1970's. It is unique. The bedroom/sitting room are upstairs and are completely private to our guests. We have two beds upstairs; one full and one cot. If there are more than three people then sleeping arrangements will need to be floor or additional cot space. The downstairs is shared space with our family, but you're on your own much of the time. The kitchen is large with a wood stove and/or propane heater used to keep warm. The cooking stove is propane. The home sits on 50 acres, with one other home (host's house) on the property. Guest AccessYou can access the entire house. Upstairs is yours; downstairs is sometimes shared with us. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be here to let you in and show you around. If not, we'll let you know way ahead of time and make appropriate arrangements. Some of us live next door (same property) and if we're home you are welcome to stop by and say 'hi.' We love to talk. We'll give you some phone numbers to call if you can't find us and need something. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood consists mostly of trees. They'll let you hug them should you choose. Getting AroundA car is needed to get here, or maybe a really good bike. We are located 6 miles from lovely downtown Belfast and the bay. There is no public transit outside of Belfast. Other Things to NoteHope you brought your cell phone. At this point we don't have a phone or internet in the house. Maybe that will change.

            3br house
Location: Please contact us about off-season rentals! This property, owned, furnished, and maintained by a classical musician, is aptly titled La Mer (The Sea), after composer Claude Debussys exquisite orchestral work of the same name. Debussy impressionistically depicts the rising sun over the ocean, the rhythm of the waves, and the dialogue between natures elements and the sea. All of these wonders are evident on any given day at this extraordinary waterfront location in Belfast, Maine. Belfast has been named 1 of the 10 great small towns to visit by msn. Style/Grounds: The house is subtly and tastefully furnished with charm and comfort in mind, playing second fiddle to the breathtaking 180-degree ocean views from nearly every window in the house. The south-facing orientation allows for unobstructed views of each and every sunrise and sunset. And, all of this can be enjoyed in privacy, whether from romantic seclusion of the private beach or from the corner lot house itself, which is sheltered by a peninsula to the East. First and Second Floor: You will find the house as eminently livable as it is inspirational. First-floor living is entirely possible, with the ground floor containing a bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom equipped with grab bar, and access to the multi-level deck, which also has handrails. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and a bathroom (also equipped with a grab bar) all with breathtaking views, yes, even the bathroom! As only a professional musician would insist, the house is equipped with all the digital modern amenities one could ask for in a home away from home: high-speed wireless Internet access, high-definition Cable TV in all three bedrooms and the living room, Blu-ray players, and more. The kitchen is also ultra-modern, outfitted with both terrific appliances and ample space to cook and dine, even as you watch the tide come in and out from the sliding glass doors onto the double balcony. The balcony itself is furnished in beautiful all-weather wicker, including a sectional set, ottoman, dining set, rocking chairs, and more. Top to bottom, the house is in impeccable condition, including all new furniture, wiring, plumbing, and electronics. Claude Debussy had only the sea to inspire him, but you can have so much more, see you at La Mer! Belfast Highlights:: Belfast is a vibrant community approximately 30 minutes north of Camden. The following are highlights of the Belfast community: Thursday night Concerts in the Street, Friday night Arts Walks, Cinema with three screens, Penobscot Marine Museum, Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory, and Fort Knox (20 minutes north). Pets: Please ask. Appropriate pets may be permitted. Additional amenities include: partial air conditioning, cd player, sandy beach, washer-dryer. The SpaceA beautiful summer cottage on a spring-fed lake, five miles inland from Mid-Coast Maine's ocean, this has been our private summer home for over 35 years. Our children are grown and gone with their own families, and so , we have opened it up to rent to selected guests who will love it and care for it as much as we do. Built in 1924 in a pine grove secluded from the eyes of neighboring cottages, Birchview is large, 2,500+ sq ft and completely furnished; 3-bedrooms with new queen-sized beds, one of which also has a child's bed; 2 full bathrooms; 32-ft eat-in kitchen; a 12 foot dining table in the lake room to enjoy your meals while watching for loons, eagles, and boats; the library-den has two comfy sofas, a reclining chair, fireplace, thousands of books, and hundreds of family-friendly video tapes; an upstairs living room (adjacent to the bedrooms) also has sofas and overlooks the lake. We face west and are blessed with the most beautiful sunsets imaginable! Enjoy our private beach on a pristine lake fed by 3 fresh-water springs. Swan Lake is small, only 3 miles long, and is a quiet lake. You may be lucky to spot three boats per day. For those who worry that a Maine lake may be cold, let us assure you that the water temperature is usually 76 degrees, very refreshing. As a teacher I must tell you that I was gleeful to experience my first September in retirement at the lake. I can barely describe how delighted I was to learn that the lake is still very warm and highly swimmable. September is now my favorite month. The days are warm, the nights are beginning to cool, and a hint of that fabulous Maine fall color begins to show on the Sugar and Red Maples and the Paper and River Birches. Here's hoping another retiring teacher may learn to love Swan Lake in September, too! Guest AccessGuests will have full access to the house, but please note that Birchview is not wheel-chair accessible. There is a short, easy down-hill walk from the private parking area, and another short walk down to the lake. (The cottage itself is two floors plus a loft.) We must insist that all guests be ambulatory. Interaction with GuestsWe will be there to meet your arrival. We live just a short drive away so that our guests may have peace and privacy as well as the comfort of knowing that help is just around the corner. The cottage is fully supplied. Fresh linens, sheets, and towels will be provided to guests who are flying to Maine. Guests who are driving are welcome to bring their own favorite sheets, blankets, and pillows. The NeighborhoodWe suggest that first-time guests to Maine try to arrange a two-week stay because there is so much to do and see, all within driving distance: Acadia National Park; Bar Harbor; whale sight-seeing and boating adventures; Mt. Katahdin, the northernmost point of the Appalachian Trail; Belfast, a very charming harbor town with lots of art galleries; Camden, the harbor town which Walter Cronkite called the most beautiful in America; Old Orchard Beach with big ocean waves to jump around in, and Funtown a fantastic water park which delights children and adults alike. For lighthouse buffs, there are several in the area; breakwaters, too. The ferry boat in Rockland goes to the famous islands off the Maine coast and will accommodate cars, bikes, and pedestrians. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. Other Things to NoteThe cottage uses lake water. It is suitable for bathing and washing dishes, but we no longer drink or cook with it. Bottled water will be provided. Cell phone coverage cannot be guaranteed; it depends on your phone and carrier.

The SpaceThe Sunhouse is a beautiful one-room cabin, with wood stove, full sized bed, refrigerator and hammock. In addition to the wood stove there is also an infrared heater which keeps the chill off while you explore away from the cabin during the day and will be on prior to your arrival to warm in up. For the warmer season there is a ceiling fan, but no air conditioning. Bathroom and both indoor and outdoor showers are available at the nearby farmhouse. Guests are welcome to pick up firewood along the way or may purchase "enviro logs" from us at $3 a piece for using in the wood stove with ease. The cabin has a k cup coffee maker complete with coffee and water. Bedding and towels are also provided for our guests. While there is no kitchen in the sun house dishes and other necessities can be provided for extended stays. Many of our guests bring a camp stove with them or enjoy the local restaurants. There is a wash sink available in the farmhouse for dishes, and we can provide laundry service for travelers. Just let us know what you will need and we will be happy to help. The Sunhouse is not far from the farmhouse where the facilities are located, but in the winter we do have a lot of snow and ice so be sure to bring appropriate footwear. Guest AccessGetting here: We are located on a main road so we are quite easy to find. We're 45 minutes to Bangor, Waterville, and Camden, 1 hour to Augusta and Acadia, and about 2 hours to Portland. This farm is beautiful. Enjoy it! However many potentially dangerous items may be around. Please note that some of the animals fences are electrified. The animals are all friendly and love attention and yes you may feed the goats! The pony is geriatric so don't be offended if he ignores you.
