The SpaceYes, we're 1 block off Maine St in Brunswick. Walk to everything great about this town, and stay in a bright, cheery, green-cleaned home before/afterward! Home of tree huggers who clean naturally and recycle/ compost. Sleeps 4 comfortably year-round (with maybe a 5th in basement). Comfy California king with natural latex mattress covered by feather bed in "master" bedroom #1. Second bedroom upstairs looks like an old ship's cabin with 2 built-in beds (full-size mattress, works for most adults/kids). Note: this is a Cape-style home with no bathroom on the 2nd floor -- one on the main, and a second in the basement. In summer months, partially finished basement has a full futon that can be converted into sleeping space (with its own 3/4 bath) and otherwise finished part of basement is an entertainment area with TV. Loads of books in our library/ office with a few reading nooks through our home. ***Please before reserving -- inquire first. We try to keep our calendar updated, but plans do change. We don't want you to waste your time reserving if we're not able to accommodate you.*** Guest AccessGuests will have access to nearly the full house, minus one office while they are here. Interaction with GuestsWe love our town and Maine, so happy to provide advice or answer questions. We'll also leave you a booklet with ideas on places to be active, explore, and eat (including menus). The NeighborhoodLocation, location, location is one reason we love our place. We're one block from Maine Street, the heart of Brunswick. A few blocks to the river in one direction and 4 miles from the ocean in the opposite direction. Our neighborhood is a mix of old homes including housing for former millworkers back in the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)s, updated to apartments, multi-family and restored single family homes. Everything else is a few blocks away...groceries (Morning Glory natural foods and Hannaford's), restaurants/ pubs, pharmacy, public library, post office, art galleries, cinema. Bowdoin College and the Maine Summer Music Theatre (MSMT) is about a 15 min walk from our home. Getting AroundBrunswick Explorer bus stop is 1 block from our home, connecting all major locations in Brunswick for $1. We're a 7 minute walk to the Brunswick Amtrak station and Concord Coach bus stop connecting you to Boston, Portland, Rockland (seasonal), and the rest of the world. Other Things to NoteBecca has traveled the world, so likes to share her art and the practice of taking outside shoes off at the door. Helps to keep the outside dirt and grime outside. :-) ***Please before reserving -- inquire first. We try to keep our calendar updated, but plans do change. The SpaceOur charming cape is at the end of a dead end road in a quiet neighborhood in Brunswick. We're only a couple blocks from Bowdoin College and 10 minutes walk from the downtown. It's easy walking distance from our house to the train/bus station and many wonderful restaurants. The space includes living room, kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, kid's bedroom, office/guest room. There is an organic king sized bed in the bedroom, an organic queen sized bed in the guest room/office, a full size futon in the kid's room attached to the master bedroom. There is also a full sized futon couch in the living room. We also have a deck in the back yard and a hammock between the trees. Guest Accesswifi, linens (sheets, towels, etc), fridge/freezer, parking ***we do not have a TV*** Interaction with GuestsWe might be able to greet you when you arrive and can definitely be in touch during your stay via phone/text. The NeighborhoodWe live in a wonderful neighborhood. It is quite, just a couple of minutes from downtown Brunswick, Bowdoin campus and the train/bus station. Our neighbors are very friendly and it is a very safe neighborhood. There are woods trails nearby and it is a great jumping off point for getting to the beach and great outdoors or outlet shopping and Portland. Getting AroundWe are a 12 minute walk from the train/bus station. Parking is included at our house. Two cars can fit in the driveway and street parking is also available. You can get a bus or train from Portland if you are arriving by train, bus or plane. Other Things to NoteWe have an organic veggie garden in our front and back yards which guests would have access to during their stay. Our gardens include high bush blueberries, peaches, veggies and herbs. We also have a chicken run attached to the back of our garage with 7 lovely ladies in residence. You would be welcome to collect the eggs and feed them for us or we can have our neighbors do it. We are a very kid friendly house, with lots of kids toys, a crib and a high chair that could all be available upon request.

The SpaceIt is like a tree house with cathedral ceilings, big skylights, and huge windows. It feels bright and happy even when it is raining or snowing. There is an entrance within the building and off the rear deck (outside). The queen bed is heavenly...a perfect spot for one person or a couple. Guest AccessThere is plenty of parking since it sits on top of professional offices. The washer/dryer, kitchen, all are contained within the unit. Access is off the back deck or inside of the front entrance. This is a third floor walk-up, so it would not be good for a person that is physically challenged. Interaction with GuestsI have little interaction with guests unless they need something. People in Maine tend to be on the private side; so we give people space. There are offices on the second floor so we ask that guests not make loud noise during working hours or on the stairs. After that, no concern. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is residential, but around the corner on Pleasant Street there are restaurants, and convenience stores. Up the street on Stanwood there is a diner, and a women's fitness studio. You can also walk to town - about 5 city blocks or to Bowdoin College - the same distance. Easy access to Rt. 295 and Rt. 1 also. Getting AroundThe Downeaster train comes to the station in Brunswick. Concord Trailways has excellent bus service to the same station as well. We are about 4 blocks from the station. Other Things to NoteWe are close to the coast and beaches. Wonderful seafood, and the restaurants in Brunswick are excellent and varied. The arts flourish here too....galleries, concerts, lectures at the (URL HIDDEN) name a few.

The SpaceThe room is in the basement but has great light and the bed is comfortable. The ceiling is about 7-feet high, which is typical of basement ceilings. The pets are not allowed in the room. You'll have access to the larger basement area with a big TV (though we don't have cable). This area is semi-shared, because we come down in the morning and evening to feed the kitties. Polly, our older cat will be happy to join you in the room, or not, just keep the door closed, otherwise, she will make herself at home and enjoy your company. We have a good DVD library to choose from, if you'd like to relax and watch movies on the big TV (we don't have cable). Access to the bathroom is through the "man cave" (an unfinished basement area) where the heater is stored. Guest AccessYou can have access to the washer/dryer. Free parking on the street, or in our driveway. Feel free to enjoy our brick patio in the backyard. NOTE: Our dog is a high-energy dog who barks when he greets you, but overall he is friendly. NOTE: This is a no-frills airbnb, though we now offer a tea kettle and breakfast nook along with a tea/coffee service. However, we don't offer full access to the kitchen. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to tell you about the Topsham/Brunswick area, which has some amazing local restaurants just a 10-15 minute walk away. Check out our Host Guidebook for local restaurant and sightseeing suggestions. There are often exciting events happening in town, and we'd be happy to help choose the best options. We can also guide you to some other spots that might not be in your guidebooks, like a gorgeous walking trail nearby that follows a brook through a tiny canyon. The NeighborhoodWe are in a quiet neighborhood that is walking distance to vibrant downtown Brunswick and the Topsham Fair Mall. Several movie theaters are nearby, including two independent theaters. A diverse offering of restaurants. Getting AroundWe are a 30-40 minute walk from the Amtrak Train station in Downtown Brunswick, or a 2-mile taxi ride. There are several bike-friendly trails nearby and it's an easy walk, downhill walk into Brunswick. Other Things to NoteWe have a cattle dog with a loud bark, but he's very friendly, especially if you throw his favorite ball for him. Our basement ceilings are only about 7 feet high, and in some areas (door frames), may be a little lower. The bed is a DOUBLE bed. We live in the house and we are happy to share our space with easy-going guests.

The SpaceDo you know how peaceful a home can feel when it's surrounded by nature, uninterrupted even by electricity, microwave, television? In spring, "peepers" fill the night soundscape, joined in summer by bullfrogs in the pond. On your deck facing the pond, you will see our friendly neighborhood heron in stillness, the mating pair of ducks (and perhaps their ducklings!), and perhaps an osprey or eagle soaring overhead. A neighborhood right-of-way gives you access to the most beautiful river in this part of Maine, only steps away from the road, where a small beach offers swimming and kayak or canoe access. On your other deck, if you can tear yourself from bed, you may see the sun rise through the trees. The space is cozy, self-contained, and very comfortable, making the best use of the small space. Beds are either single, double, or two twins (you specify, we comply), and the mattresses are new, firm and deliciously sleep-inducing. Guest AccessThe cabin is entirely yours, with access to the "big house" for showers (spa robes provided!), laundry, hot tub and light kitchen use. Coffee, tea, and water are at the ready in your space, and we'll bring continental breakfast to you every morning along with hot water for washing. A separate but attached building houses the composting toilet (it works!). The cabin is set back about 200 yards from the quiet road along a woodland path. We provide headlamps and flashlights if you don't bring your own. And although we are technically off the grid - lighting is solar-powered - there is electricity access via cable at the cabin, if you need to charge electronics, etc. Interaction with GuestsWe'll be here to help when you arrive - toting bags to the cabin, introducing you to the off-the-grid comfort of our peaceful cabin, giving you tips about the house and this wonderful area if you need them - and then we're available when you like, out of your way when you'd rather be left alone. The NeighborhoodEvery day we say "We live here!". It's peaceful, beautiful, and close to everything you might want, whether it's good coffee or a great movie, Brunswick's varied and excellent restaurant scene, Bowdoin College's many activities, or any number of hikes, drives and walks, not to mention the ocean, a 30 minute drive to any number of Maine's best beaches, rocky promontories, seafood in the rough eateries, and quiet seaside vistas.

Getting AroundYou can walk all around town and to campus, or across the Androscoggin River to Sea Dog Brewery for a delicious, cold local brew on the deck overlooking the river. Easy access to Freeport & L.L Bean (15 minutes) and fabulous Portland with all its exciting offers (20 min). For a full day outing, drive up the coast heading north and explore iconic Maine gems like Rockport and Camden...The options are limitless! Other Things to NoteIf the dates you are looking for are not open, contact us anyway, as our calendar may be flexible. We ask that our guests follow our kitchen/home rules: vegetarian only (dairy and eggs are fine!). There are plenty of delicious restaurants in town if you want to enjoy a meat or lobster meal while visiting the area; we can recommend great places! Also, note that 3rd floor guest room (day bed that opens to two twin beds, perfect for kids or teens) does not have a door, but is very private and quiet. If you need to, Nina's 3rd floor study can be used for a roll-away twin bed (3rd twin). We have a TV to watch DVDs (and a nice selection of movies) but no TV channels.

The SpaceThis is a basic Cape-style house. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, and 2 full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a "bonus room" attached, which I use as an office, for painting, reading, and relaxing. The sky lights in the bedrooms open to provide great air circulation in warmer weather, and they have remote controlled black out shades. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. The second bedroom is spacious with a twin bed and trundle. The downstairs space has an open kitchen, living and dining area. You will have use of my coffee maker and other kitchen appliances. The table is set up to seat 4, but by request I can add a leaf to expand it for seating 6-8. There's another room downstairs that my daughter uses as a playroom. This house is ideal for kids: lots of toys to play with, books to read, and feel free to watch our DVDs or play games on the Wii. There are also toys to use outside stored in the garage. The back yard is fully fenced with a 6 foot privacy fence. Free wi-fi. You can access Netflix and Amazon Prime on the TV. There's also a wood stove in the living room. Pets are welcome, but I'd like to discuss/approve first. We have 2 lab mixes, so we are fully set up for dogs (dog toys, dog bed, pooper scooper, etc). I have crates that I can set up for your dog, too. This is a very convenient location. It's a quick walk to the many shops and restaurants in downtown Brunswick, or to Bowdoin College. Enjoy a show at the Maine State Music Theater in the summer. Brunswick has 2 separate farmers markets - one during the week, and one on weekends. We are 10 minutes by car to Freeport, 20 minutes to Portland, and there are numerous beautiful beaches, rivers and lakes only minutes away. Popham Beach State Park, Reid State Park, and Wolfe's Neck State Park (and Farm) are all within a 20 minute drive. Go to Harpswell to explore Maine's rocky coast, rent a kayak and enjoy some fried clams. There are many local options for biking, hiking, running and walking. We are about 40 minutes away from Boothbay Harbor, where you can go whale watching, fishing, and enjoy the local shops and eateries. Boothbay is home to the popular Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. And of course, don't forget to enjoy some lobster during your stay in Maine! I can recommend places to get fresh lobster (or other fish) right off the boat. Guest AccessMake yourself at home! ONLY LIMITED DATES AVAILABLE: May 27-30, 2016; August 27 - Sept. 2, 2016. I may add a couple more long weekends this summer, but these are the only dates certain for now. I will be staying elsewhere while you enjoy my home. Interaction with GuestsLimited. I may be available when you arrive, but otherwise I can be reached anytime via my cell phone and am happy to answer your questions, or give tips about places to eat, explore, etc. I won't be far away and can be quickly available in the event of any urgent issue or emergency. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet neighborhood. My house is on a dead end street, so it's safe for kids to play outside and there isn't much/any traffic. We're one block away from the local elementary school with the best playground in town! Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around. We're close to the Amtrak train station - take the daily train to Portland or Boston. Brunswick also has taxis. This is a very bike friendly area. Other Things to NoteThere will be a binder with information about some of my favorite local restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shops, beaches and special "insider" tips!

Interaction with GuestsThough we will never be seen as real 'Mainers,' we have adopted Maine as our favorite state. We want to help those not from here to experience Maine as if you had a family member or friend living here. If you are familiar with the area already and do not need recommendations we will give you all the space you need. Don't hesitate to ask if you need something. The NeighborhoodWe bought our historic 1879 home on School Street to be within walking distance of Bowdoin College and all that downtown Brunswick has to offer. School Street is a special neighborhood of professors, artists and writers that we fell in love with. It has beautiful brick sidewalks and neighbors that pride themselves on their gardens. We wanted to have an apartment that we could rent out to other visiting faculty or international musicians traveling to the Bowdoin International Music Festival. We would like to open up our apartment to Summer guests to enjoy Maine the way we do. The SpaceThe Little House was built in 1795 and is part of a larger home, known as the Walker-Wilson house, which was completed in 1803 and became a stop on the Underground Railway. The Brunswick Inn is located in the charming New England town of Brunswick, Maine, 20 minutes north of Portland and 2 hours north of Boston. Situated on the picturesque village green, the Inn is just steps away from Bowdoin College and the town’s wonderful array of shops and restaurants. In the summertime, the village green is the site of farmers’ markets, lemonade stands, and evening concerts; in the wintertime it is transformed into a skating rink to delight young and old alike. Brunswick is a vibrant community, but it often makes people feel like they have stepped back in time. At The Brunswick Inn, we have tried to capture both of these qualities.
