The SpaceOur home is set 200 ft/70m back from Washington Street in a quiet, private location on a large open lot. The house is relatively new, built in 2000. The space was our home office for 10 yrs, has a separate entrance to a mud room and the bath, closed off from the rest of the house. Guest AccessUnlimited free parking, wireless internet, new large age-in-place shower in the bathroom. There may be some traffic to our house through this rear hall, but the guests will have complete privacy and locking doors. Please note GUESTS DO NOT OTHERWISE HAVE ACCESS TO OUR HOME including our kitchen and laundry. There are many options for meals at local restaurants and shops within a short walk, and a coin-op laundry is only a short distance. While the room does NOT have network TV, we can provide a larger screen that would work with an HDMI equipped laptop connection. There is a filtered water pitcher which can be easily refilled, we are able to provide reasonable amounts of ice for a cooler, and this year we have added a mini-fridge/microwave and a small table and chairs to the entry way. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available much of the time to assist guests related to the room or for general info about the area. I am usually working around the house and property during the day. Although this is a private room and bath with private entrance, this is still a homesharing situation with a family in residence. You will have complete privacy, but we can hear you moving about, and you can hear us. Please do not expect the room to be completely soundproof. The NeighborhoodQuiet residential neighborhood, generally older but well maintained or recently renovated homes, close to fire and police station. In season, there is a farmer's market across the street every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning. Getting AroundAlthough we are a block from downtown and up a 200 ft. gravel drive, it is only a few minutes walk to restaurants, shops, grocery stores, chamber office for tourist info, town landing and harbor master, library, parks, town office, and churches. Individuals who have trouble walking may wish to drive downtown where there is ample parking. A Greyhound bus passes through Camden several times a day but the bus stop is a 15-20 minute walk. There is a great dog park not far from the bus stop. Other Things to Note-We are fully insured for B&B guests (plus coverages by Airbnb) and licensed by the town of Camden as a "Homestay." -Price includes 9% Maine Accommodation Tax. -There is a Keurig coffee maker and a selection of K-cups in the room and a mini-fridge/microwave in the entryway. -There is plenty of space for a boat trailer or camper on the property. -Motorcycles can be parked securely inside the garage.

The SpaceThe quintessential coastal village of Camden, Maine, situated in the region referred to as "The Jewel of the Maine Coast", has its very own jewel - the Sapphire House. The home enjoys a location that is close enough to walk to the historic seaport village on the Maine coast, yet it's just far enough removed to offer some piece and quiet. If you've ever longed to stay in a traditional down east inn or just want to return to the coast for an unsurpassed quality visit, then the Sapphire House awaits you. Your room features a private balcony, fireplace, and jacuzzi tub. A private pantry with a microwave and coffee maker is available as well as a grill on the porch. You also have a private glass sunroom to enjoy. Our family and two dogs (Basenjis) live in the upper two floors. The property is adjacent to a historic cemetery and a path across the street leads to a rugged but manageable climb up Mount Battie.

The SpaceYour visit to coastal Maine will be most memorable in our picturesque, authentic village of Camden, Maine. My 110 year-old Victorian house is only 2-3 blocks from the heart of downtown and has a guest room with two twin beds and a private bathroom across the hall. You have the upstairs to yourself as I sleep downstairs. Sheets, towels, and hair dryer are provided. The house has off-street driveway parking and WiFi . The house is smoke free. No pets. I have two cats who live entirely outdoors and in the basement during the summer, and only downstairs in a private room during the winter. My house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on a quintessential all-American street with modest private homes adorned with little architectural delights. The village center with shops, restaurants, library, the Opera House (home to Pop Tech and the Camden Conference) and harbor is only around the corner. There is so much to do in beautiful Camden and I'd be more than happy to tell you about it and give you tips. You can go hiking, sailing, kayaking, take pretty scenic drives, biking, cultural events, fishing, swimming, etc etc. While I do ask that you please check out and in by the requested times so I have time to prepare for the next person, you are more than welcome to drop bags off or leave them though, or just hang out on the porch or in the backyard! Please note, the Town of Camden only allows stays for a minimum of 7 nights through accommodation sites like Airbnb and VRBO, so that is why my listing states a week minimum. I wish this were not the case. Interaction with GuestsYes, I'm happy to answer questions. I'm usually not around in the morning as I often work at the Harbormaster's office a few blocks away, but you're welcome to call me or come by. The NeighborhoodA quintessential small-town street with modest homes and friendly neighbors. The center of downtown is only 2-3 blocks away. Getting AroundYou may park in the driveway that is to the left of the house as you face it. The Concord Coach bus stop from Boston, Portland, and points south and north along midcoast Maine is about 1/2 mile away on the outskirts of downtown and I'd be happy to pick you up or drop off should you need it and I'm around. The Owlshead Airport is about 20-25 minutes south in Owlshead, ME.

The SpaceWe downsized to a sweet smaller village home in Camden and built this little guest room to accommodate friends and family. It has a double bed with reading lights, an additional window seat /day bed for a third person, and a full bathroom with step-in shower. Also a small table and chairs. Built in cottage style it is simple, yet cozy. Breakfast available in our kitchen, on the lovely back patio or you can maintain your privacy and carry it out to your comfy spot. We love our quiet, residential neighborhood with everything just a short walk away. A simple walk down the street will bring you into the beautiful village of Camden with all that it has to offer, including it's picturesque harbor. One can also get to some local hiking trails on foot and others are a very short drive away. We have lots of local knowledge to share after forty plus years in midcoast Maine. The lively towns of Belfast and Rockland are also a short drive away with great scenery between here and there. Camden hosts several seasonal events as well as internationally known conferences. It is locally known as the jewel of mid coast Maine. Though public transportation is not well developed the bus station with access to Boston is approx 1.5 miles away and we can arrange drop off and pick up for you. As of January 1, 2015 our Airbnb listed price also includes an 8% Maine State Lodging Tax.

Interaction with GuestsHost will welcome you at arrival and will not be present at the house during your stay, but can always be reached via email or phone in case of questions or issues. The NeighborhoodThe home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood between Camden and Rockport, Maine. Its central location allows you to experience a number of attractions in walking distance: * Laite Beach - Laite Beach is just a short walk down the road. There are picnic tables, swings, and a beautiful panorama of the bay. This is a pebble beach, perfect for searching for shells, sea glass and other treasures. There is also a swimming platform about 100 feet off shore (if you don't mind the brisk water). * Camden Harbor - The town center and the harbor are a pleasant 15 minute walk. * Windjammer and Sailing Cruises - You can take a cruise on windjammers docked in either Camden, Rockport, or Rockland. * Kayaking - You can rent a kayak for Megunticook Lake or, for the more adventurous, Camden and Rockport harbors, and Penobscot Bay. * Lobster Dinner and More - There are plenty of restaurants to choose from right in Camden. Of course, if you want a real Maine Coast experience, try the Lobster Pounds in the area. Camden also offers great places for breakfast and lunch. Just to mention a few, you should definitely try Boynton-McKay located in the former pharmacy and soda fountain, Camden Deli across the street with outside seating overlooking the harbor, or the coffeehouse Zoot. * Hike up the Mountains - One can certainly drive up to Mount Battie to enjoy the view, but if you want more exercise, there are several hiking trails up to the mountain ridges, ranging from easy to more difficult. One trail starts at the foot of the hill in Camden, just past the Library. * Curtis Island Lighthouse - A short 10 minute walk will take you to an almost hidden path - off the beaten track - that offers a restful place to view the lighthouse as well as boats sailing into Camden Harbor. If you're lucky, you may even see a bald eagle. (There is a nest on the island.) * "Oreo Cows" at Aldermere Farm - If you continue on towards Rockport, you will pass by the cemetery and then Aldermere Farm with Belted Galloways ("Oreo Cows"). * Children's Chapel - Just before you reach Rockport village, turn left along the golf course and follow the signs for the Children's Chapel. The garden and the view are well worth the walk. * Rockport Harbor - A beautiful tranquil harbor with trails on either side. Getting AroundDaily bus service to Boston (via Portland) and Bangor.

The SpaceThis wonderful post and beam home was built in 2005. It has great open spaces with cathedral ceilings upstairs. The house isn’t too big (1500 sq ft), so it’s not overwhelming or overpriced! It’s just simple vacation living. The house is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There are two bedrooms upstairs (approximately 13 x 15 ft each) with tall ceilings and large windows for beautiful views of the lake. There is an open area that is suitable as a bedroom with a bed on the upstairs landing. Amenities include wifi, a kitchen fully stocked with plates, utensils, pots, pans, etc. washer/dryer, off-street parking (uncovered driveway). The downstairs area is an open space containing the kitchen, dining room, and living room. There is a great kitchen with a huge peninsula granite countertop separating the kitchen from the dining room, an area perfect for socializing while cooking. Nearby activities include hiking, swimming, canoeing, and rowing right out the back door (row boat, canoe, and adult life jackets included). The house is a 5 minute drive or taxicab ride from downtown Camden’s many shops and restaurants, or a 15 minute drive to downtown Rockland or Lincolnville. Just a half mile from the Mighty Camden Snow Bowl/skiing and National Toboggan Championships in the winter. In the summer, this is a peaceful home away from the hustle and bustle of Camden, yet it’s only a 5 minute drive away. Easy-going and helpful host. Coffee and tea are included. Extra mattresses are available. I do own a small dog, but I am allergic to some breeds, so please check with me before bringing pets. Guest AccessLake access with a canoe and row boat. On site laundry. Full kitchen. No shared areas - the renter has access to entire house and property. Interaction with GuestsThe house is left unlocked 1-hr prior to agreed arrival time. Guests The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and wooded, with natural sounds of loons and owls. Less than a 5-minute drive is beautiful downtown Camden, bustling with shops and restaurants, and with an amazing view of a classic New England working harbor. Lincolnville and Rockland are each about a 20 minute drive away and offer an array of fairs, festivals, and farmer's markets. We recommend a hike up Mt. Battie for a gorgeous view of Penobscot Bay (30 minute hike one-way or 5 minute drive up). Many guests enjoy an special dinner out at Primo's, Shepherd's Pie, or Francine's. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation other than taxi service and Trailways bus to Portland and Boston. Driveway (off-street) parking is available. We're 1h45min drive from the Portland airport. Shuttle and bus services are available. Other Things to NoteCamden is an amazing destination for all ages. It's also a great location from which to explore the area, with easy drives to Acadia National Park and Popham Beach, or easy drive and ferry to Monhegan/North Haven/Vinalhaven Islands.
