The SpaceSleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms; 1 full bathroom and 1/2 bathroom Owls Nest has been in the Creamer Family for generations — it is well-loved, embellished by family memories, neat and comfortable. It feels like a throw-back to simpler times when vacation homes weren`t about being exactly like your year-round home — your beach house was about being steps from the beach, a green lawn to play on, rocks to climb, comfortable beds and furnishings and windows that let in the sound of the waves and crickets at night. The most spectacular part of Owls Nest is the fact that is sits right on Crescent Beach — one of the most spectacular beaches (not to mention views) in Owls Head and the Midcoast area. Just over the rocks, the beach stretches out with sand to sink toes into, calm water to swim in and rocks to find crabs and periwinkles under and on. You won`t need to pack a lunch or a bag — if you forgot something, your house is right behind you. The house sits on an unusually large parcel of grassy waterfront — a great place to cookout, play a game of badminton or just watch the sailboats pass by and the sun set. The front deck has plenty of comfortable seating and a large umbrella for hot days. Owls Nest can sleep 8 comfortably in 4 bedrooms. On the first floor there is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a half bath and a cozy den with cable television and a DVD player. The kitchen is well-equipped with full-sized appliances and the conveniences of a year-round kitchen. A dining area off the kitchen has seating for 8, with spectacular views of the water and the islands beyond. The living room has a large flat-screen television, cable, board games, books and direct access to the yard and the deck. The house is also equipped with Internet access for those who need to check in with the "real" world while on vacation. Internet service is provided by Hughes Net which is a satellite-based service. Internet service may be limited as to the amount of data that can be downloaded and will not be suitable for large downloads such as movies. This service is best suited for web browsing and checking email. Upstairs are four bedrooms — the front two rooms have unlimited views of the water and queen beds. The other two rooms each have two twins — the mattresses are comfortable and all rooms have darkening shades, as the sun comes up early and bright over Crescent Beach. There is a large full bathroom on this floor as well. The location of Owls Nest is ideal; Owls Head is a small, quiet community just minutes from Rockland, Thomaston and Camden. These larger towns offer museums, restaurants, shopping, festivals and endless cultural activities. Owls Head, which extends to the immediate south of Rockland, is noted for its historic lighthouse with unparalleled views of the Penobscot Bay islands, its scenic working harbor, and the world-class Owls Head Transportation Museum. Just 5 minutes from the house is Birch Point Beach State Park, which has a sand beach framed by a secluded natural setting. The small village common, at the end of North Shore Drive, is the gateway to Owls Head Harbor and the Owls Head Light. Owls Head`s unique location on the coast makes getting to Camden, Rockport, Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde and Bar Harbor very easy! The SpaceSo you know at the outset, this is an "unplugged" house. Too far set back from the road to be readily connected to the cable line. My long time regulars (6-18 years!) chose not to pay extra. Many appreciate the change of focus from device screens to porch screens, nature, activities and each other, for some, I know, it's a deal breaker. There are wi-fi hot spots nearby at the county airport terminal, and in Rockland at various restaurants/cafes and at the library. THAT SAID... This house is paneled in knotty pine with an open living-dining-kitchen floor plan. Hidden from the road, this is a quiet, beautiful spot with pathways mowed in the meadow and a screened porch with picnic table and other seating from which to enjoy the panorama and dining al fresco. At the same time, only 10 minutes from shopping, galleries, restaurants, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and entertainments of Rockland, and even more in Rockport and Camden. Many outdoor activities, ferries to islands, and historical sites in the area. Guest AccessThe whole house is yours except the basement "hunch space". Enjoy walking the grounds. Grill is in the barn. Interaction with GuestsI manage from Boston with reliable housekeepers and service providers. I can be called any time. The NeighborhoodAs you can see from the photos, there is a surround of nature, woods and water. Owls Head is a small (one general store with good food and a post office) fishing village with two wholesale lobster docks, one where one get lobsters for "boat" price. There are neighbors along the short road that leads to my lane. If you have a kayak, bring it! Getting AroundYou'll need a car. You can enjoy having a bike. Humble Knox county airport is nearby with small plane, regional service including Boston. Other Things to NoteRates include Maine tax of 8%.

Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms; 1 full bathroom and 1/2 bathroom Owls Nest has been in the Creamer Family for generations — it is well-loved, embellished by family memories, neat and comfortable. It feels like a throw-back to simpler times when vacation homes weren't about being exactly like your year-round home — your beach house was about being steps from the beach, a green lawn to play on, rocks to climb, comfortable beds and furnishings and windows that let in the sound of the waves and crickets at night. You won't need to pack a lunch or a bag — if you forgot something, your house is right behind you. Sunrise Cottage on Mahalas Lane Located in Owls Head, this quaint and unique 1930s cottage is nestled at the end of a private lane. A guest of the cottage, the author, Marianne Cushing, has had published (December 2013) her debut novel, Mahalas Lane (the lane of the cottage), which uses the cottage as a point of reference for her investigation-romance work of art. Overlooking Crocketts Beach and Penobscot Bay, Mahalas Lane is serene and relaxing, a true seaside get-away. Crocketts Beach, when the tide is out a bit, is a perfectly sandy beach all the way out into the water. Children, less fragile than adults, do not seem to mind at all the refreshing aspects of the Maine water, and enjoy the swimming without having to negotiate bothersome rocks with their feet. (Adults seem to appreciate this pleasing aspect as well.) Crocketts Beach is especially well-suited for kayaking and provides for a nice ability to explore, by kayak, Seaglass Island (a very small island about 1/4 mile off the beach which you can almost walk to at low tide), nearby Crescent Beach and Sheep's Island. There are really only about three other cottages-homes on Crocketts Beach, so the beach is private and unique in that sense as well. On the south side of the property line landscape by the beach house, there is a walking path that runs through the trees along the south side of the beach house down to the shoreline that residents of the lane have used and are permitted to use for at least going over the passed 86 years. Any other non-guest foot traffic to the shoreline through the cottage property is not permitted. The cottage provides its own private access to the shoreline from its own private cottage property grounds which run to and meet the shoreline, the perspective of which is captured in the accompanying photographs. The cottage is architecturally unique, reminiscent of a ship with a bowed front, with pristine white ship-lap throughout and a built-in bed. A split-rail fence contains the ample yard and natural gardens surround the house. It is a pleasing space any time of the day; sit on the patio for morning coffee and watch the sunrise over the ocean or stroll down to the ocean-front beach house for an afternoon of reading. The main house (cottage), approximately 196' from the shoreline, and the beach house, approximately 72' from the shoreline, have five bedrooms (two king and three queen Mission style platform beds from LL Bean) and the carriage house, approximately 49' from the main house (cottage), with three Mission style twin platform beds from LL Bean can sleep three in a way that has the sensibility of a camp-bunk house. The downstairs and upstairs master bedrooms have Mission style platform king beds from LL Bean and ocean views and adjoining bathrooms. The well-equipped kitchen has spectacular views of the water and opens into the living room and dining room areas, both with ocean views. Plenty of windows offer natural light and light sea breezes. There are three bedrooms upstairs and one full bath. The first bedroom has a queen Mission style platform bed from LL Bean and the second bedroom has a queen Mission style platform bed from LL Bean and one twin built-in bed. Both have views of the water and comfortable furnishings. The third upstairs bedroom, a master bedroom, has a private bath and one Mission style platform king bed from LL Bean with an ocean view. There is also a beach cottage on the property, located at the water’s edge. The guest cottage offers sleeping space for two on a queen Mission style platform bed from LL Bean, as well as a slipcovered love seat, two slipcovered sitting chairs, a state-of-the-art BioLet 65XL composting commode situated in the beach cottage's exterior closet, an under-counter refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, a flat screen television and Blu-Ray DVD player, a countertop water dispenser and a spacious deck with a panoramic view of the ocean. This is the perfect place to sit and watch the day come to an end. There is also a carriage house which has the sensibility of a camp-bunk house as it has two slipcovered couches, a 46" Samsung flat screen television, a Blu-Ray DVD player, an XBOX360 game box-station, a coffee table and three Mission style twin platform beds from LL Bean. In this sense, the carriage house offers some additional space for some peace and quiet or for children to have some space for themselves for a bit. The location of Mahalas Lane is ideal. Owls Head is home of the Transportation Museum, the Owls Head General Store (home of the award-winning Loaded 7-Napkin Burger and old-time penny candy) and the Owls Head Lighthouse where Spot, the Springer spaniel, is buried by the lighthouse bell (see the true story of Lighthouse Dog to the Rescue). Owls Head is a small, quiet community just minutes from Rockland (the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Primo Restaurant, In Good Company wine bar, Fiore premium Artisan Olive Oils and Vinegars, Planet Toys and Jess's Market for lobsters and fresh seafood - Down East Magazine's readers' choice for best seafood market in Maine). Thomaston, Rockport and Camden are also nearby. Rockport is the setting for the Samoset Resort (the well-appointed La Bella Vita restaurant with a magnificent view of Penobscot Bay, the tranquil, fresh, clean, seaside aesthetic of The Spa and a beautiful seaside, championship golf course) and Maine Sport Outfitters (offering for purchase or rental items for almost any conceivable sporting interest ranging from kayaking, biking and running to camping and winter sports). These larger cities offer museums, restaurants, shopping, festivals and endless cultural activities. Cape Air flies into (and out of) Owls Head (the Knox County Regional Airport) from Boston (a one hour flight) and other regional locations. Car rentals (Budget) can be made from the Knox County Regional Airport. The house offers a washer and dryer, Bosch dishwasher, hair dryer, hand held clothes steamer, cable television and Internet Wi-Fi connection. Keywords: House

Come relax on the deck, or my favorite spot, inside with my feet up on the window sill. Watch the sun come up. Then it's lobster boats, kayaks, canoes and sail boats. Bald eagles, ospreys, ducks, loons and gulls fishing. If you are alert you will see red squirrels, crows, deer and perhaps a fox or a seal. You can watch the tides change. Go down on the shore and look for crabs or beach glass. Take a walk or lie in the hammock. You can watch the islands turn red as the sun sets behind the cottage and then you can watch the moon come up and the stars come out. If you can't sit still that long there is so much to do in and around Owls Head. There is a beautiful light house. Stop at the Owls Head General Store for lunch or take it with you for a picnic. Go to the Transportation Museum for the special events or just the regular displays. Shop and eat out in Rockland, Camden, Thomaston or Port Clyde. Go to the Farnsworth Museum or any of the art galeries. This is a great spot for a vacation.

Situated on a bluff on a quiet road very close to the ocean and surrounded by acres of woodland our studio apartment is the perfect base for a restorative sea side holiday. Perfect for walking and biking and close to water access for kayaking or swimming. It takes just 10 minutes to get from the peace of the peninsula to downtown Rockland with its many amenities. The town of Owls Head has a thriving general store that provides breakfast/lunch and occasional dinners and can be walked to from our property. The general store also has basic supplies that you might need. The lighthouse is also a longer walk away from the studio. The road we are on is quiet and is a favorite walking and biking road (we have some bikes you can use). Crescent beach is also a pleasant walk away. Owls Head library is open twice a week in summer and has a very good selection of books. The Knox county region airport is about 2 miles away and flights go to and from Boston daily. This is a small airport and we do not feel its impact on our tranquil way of life! A car can be rented at the airport. The Owls Head Transportation museum is also near the airport and holds much interest to aviation and old car enthusiasts.
