All are welcome at this classic, idyllic (circa 1900), impeccably clean cottage, on the eastern shore of Casco Bay, an hour travel NE of Portland, and from this front deck, you can throw a stone into the water, walk down the steps to swim, launch a kayak, enjoy whatever. You will gently wake up to the melodious sounds of ospreys, eagles, seagulls, and the lobsterboats starting their day. When you have your 'cup of coffee', you can go out on the deck to smell the salt air, feel the tranquility, and enjoy what Maine 'really is'. This is one of the few places on the Maine Coast where not much has changed in over a hundred years. You can buy freshly caught lobsters directly from fishemen, and, in the transaction, be able to appreciate the 'real Maine'. There is a picnic table for your use on the mowed grass shore, where you can fully enjoy the ambience of the 'Rocky Coast of Maine', while listening to the gentle 'lapping' of the waves. At low tide, there is finding beach glass, various marine life, and snorkeling. There are also fishing opportunities, from the shore, for those who like to catch mackerel, flounder, striped bass, and other fish. Property description Be among the first guests to rent this newly opened (Sept. 2015), completely renovated cottage directly on the shore of eastern Casco Bay. The cottage dates back to the early 1900's and has a 180 plus degree view of the ocean, which includes seven islands. This idyllic Sebasco Estates location in the Town of Phippsburg, Maine has remained largely unchanged for over 100 years, in sharp contrast to what has occurred along much of the Maine coast. This WiFi equipped cottage has closed cell foam insulation with finished walls and has thermostatically controlled heat on both upper and lower floors, although no heat is typically required during the summer months, except perhaps when showering. The totally new bathroom has a vanity with lavatory and mirror, a low water consumption toilet, 36" fiberglass shower, towel racks towel shelving and a dedicated built in wall heater. There is a spacious living room that opens through a large arch onto a glassed in sun porch with openable screened windows, providing a spectacular view of the water to the n., w. and s. The living room has a couch convertible into a queen bed, a table, chairs, cable TV with Blu-ray DVD player, a phonograph/CD player/radio, a grandmother clock and sliding patio door leading to the deck. The modern, well lit, all new kitchen, has a double basin stainless sink, custom maple cabinetry and a birch "bar" topping the peninsula behind the sink, providing anyone at the sink a view of the ocean. This bar can be used as such or for dishes going to or from the dining table to the sink area with its associated custom counter tops. There is a large refrigerator with a top freezer as well as a microwave, blender, Keurig and regular coffee makers. It is fully equipped with necessary dishes, cutlery, cooking pots, pans and utensils, including a lobster and clam cooking pot. The dining area, adjacent to the kitchen and bar, has an expandable table with 6 matching chairs, but can seat 8, and provides a view through 2 picture windows, each with openable, screened side windows. Anyone sitting there or standing at the sink has a direct view of the water and the infamous Malaga Island, the backbone of the book "Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy"Â?. There are three upstairs bedrooms with beds sleeping a total of 6 and a finished "loft"Â?. The large "master bedroom" has a queen bed, a cedar lined closet, bureau w/ mirror, full length mirror and spectacular view of the ocean. The "middle" bedroom has a full bed, small bureau with mirror, cedar lined closet and south facing windows overlooking the ocean. The "small' bedroom has a set of bunk beds, two windows with a "woods" view. There is a small "youth bed" available if needed. All windows have privacy shades if desired. Through the living room patio door there is a spacious (8'X16') open deck with a spectacular ocean view, an electric grill and 2 benches that can be put together forming a picnic table seating 6. Continuous with this is a smaller (9'X10') covered but open deck with 2 permanent benches offering shade and an equally spectacular ocean view. The main livelihood of this community is fishing, now principally lobstering. During the spring, summer and fall you will hear the purr of the boats leaving early morning to tend their lobster "pots" and throughout the day you will see them coming and going, with some of them hauling their traps directly in front of the cottage. You will also see and hear various species of gulls and ducks, an occasional eagle, osprey and great blue heron. There may also be an occasional seal passing through. If so inclined, at high tide one can throw a rock from the deck of the cottage to the water, eat meals on the deck and just bask in the ambiance of the "real" Maine coast. Depending on your inclination and theirs, fish such a striped bass ("Stripers", "Rockfish"), mackerel, Pollock, flounder and cunners may be caught directly from the shore in front of the cottage. (On the inside cottage wall there is a plaque with mounted colored prints of most of the indigenous fishes and relevant information.) There are also two locations in front of the cottage where kayaks, canoes and other small watercraft may be hand launched. It is also a safe place to swim, walk the shoreline, hunting for shells and just exploring the inter tidal zone. From the cottage it is a 15 minute drive to the state-owned Popham Beach State Park (for which you will be provided a free pass-no dogs allowed). A couple miles farther down the road is Spinney's Restaurant, more beach, the 1800's Fort Popham and other historical sites. Also available is the privately owned Head Beach at Small Point, which has a nominal admission fee. There is also a smaller town owned, "pet friendly" Totman Cove beach in West Point, which is a 7 minute drive from the cottage, for which you will also have a free pass. This sandy beach has a very gentle slope, no swells, no rip currents, is very safe for young children and pets. It is best used near the high tide, because there are "clam flats" (mud) exposed at the lower ends of the tide cycle. In addition to Spinney's Restaurant at Popham, there is the Water's Edge Restaurant right in Sebasco (5 minute walk from our cottage-especially convenient if one wants to enjoy adult beverages and not have to drive!). Unfortunately, it is traditionally open only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is also The Lobster House Restaurant on the road to Head Beach in Small Point. There are also several restaurants in Bath and environs. The cottage has two "traditional" wired telephones, one downstairs and one in the master bedroom, from which local calls may be made and received. Long distances calls may be received but not made because they are blocked. Cell phone reception is now quite good from the cottage, but to be on the safe side, you may want to bring a purchased calling card with you which will enable making long distance calls on the "traditional" telephones. The cottage is pet friendly with prior approval for an additional fee. A dog " crate" is available for use if you decide to leave your pet at the cottage for a day of "touring about". Smoking is not permitted in the cottage for several obvious reasons! Parking is limited to 2 vehicles without prior approval, so the cottage is NOT suitable for large groups such as weddings, reunions, family gatherings, etc. Beds: 1 Queen Bed, 1 Double Bed, 2 Twin Beds, 1 Sofa Bed, 1 Crib Lodging tax: 9% Starting 1/1/2016 Deposits: One half of basic rate due upon booking Balance including tax and security deposit 30 days prior to check in Payment Options: Cashier's Check, Personal Check Other Fees: Security Deposit of $400.00 Pet fee is $10.00 per pet per night Property description Be among the first guests to rent this newly opened (Sept. 2015), completely renovated cottage directly on the shore of eastern Casco Bay. With parental supervision, this shorefront is an excellent learning opportunity for children. Beds: 1 Double Bed, 3 Twin Beds

Wake up to southwesterly views of Casco Bay, breathe in the salt air, and watch the comings and goings of local lobstermen as you adjust to a slower pace. In fact, any one of them would be happy to provide you with dinner fresh from the boat. Although not directly on the ocean, the cottage does have water views. Access is down a short right of way where kayaks, which may be rented nearby and delivered, can be launched from a small pebble beach. Adirondack chairs and a cedar picnic table for quests overlook the water. The beach, with its tide pools, sea glass, and other treasures, is a magnet for children of all ages, and one that will provide hours of entertainment. This beautifully renovated, immaculate cottage at the mouth of the New Meadows River is only an hour north or Portland and just steps from the high tide mark. A kitchen, dining room/living room, sun porch, bedroom with twin beds, and bathroom complete the downstairs of the cottage. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, each with a full-size bed. A pack 'n play, high chair, and child safety gate are available for families with little ones, and the cottage has electric heat for guests in early spring or late fall. A small price reduction may be possible in the off season if your reservation is for only one or two people. Beds: 2 Double Beds, 2 Twin Beds, 1 Crib

Anyone sitting there or standing at the sink has a direct view of the water and the infamous Malaga Island, the backbone of the book "Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy". There are three upstairs bedrooms with beds sleeping a total of 6 and a finished "loft". Beds: 1 Queen Bed, 1 Double Bed, 2 Twin Beds, 1 Sofa Bed, 1 Crib

In 2015 we pressed our first batch of the sweet, delicious drink - it was the BEST APPLE YEAR EVER! We grow all kinds of produce here, serve much of it for breakfast. Our food, rooms, pool, sandy beaches, the area = AMAZING! So, it's great, old-fashioned Maine on this peninsula and our beaches are well-kept secrets. At night, you can see the stars & Milky Way clearly: bring your telescopes - someone did last year and was thrilled with what he could see: even found a new (to him) nebulae. A 35-acre Island Retreat (but you can drive there!) on one MILE of Maine frontage. Stunning views from every window of this 6,000 square foot shingle style home. Designed by noted San Francisco Architect, Brooks Walker and the landscape architects Stroudwater Design, the property is tailored to bring people together to experience the Maine coast in an intimate setting. The estate is as unique as it is spacious. There is probably not another property as close to Portland (40 min) that is as secluded and private as Dingley Island. Offering three floors, six large bedrooms, four with private baths (plus a large open plan 3rd floor with private bath, with lots of room for Aerobeds and overflow) as well as a carriage house with full amenities. Prepare meals in the gourmet kitchen or enjoy cocktails mixed at the wet bar in the timber frame Great Room with Steinway piano and a towering granite fireplace competing for attention with the all encompassing water views. Dine with your family and friends in a one of a kind dining room nestled between two walls of windows with french doors to bring the outdoors in and a table-side fire perfecting the atmosphere and warming you from the evening sea breeze.. A yachter's dream, there is a 120' floating dock with 10' of deep water at low tide as well as two moorings. A classic 'hurricane hole' of protected anchorage. The dock is sometimes shared with the owner when they are in town and staying at the second house on the vast property. If you are lucky enough to be staying at that time, do not be surprised if your offered a private water tour of the local area. Watch the seals basking on the rocks from one of two private second floor balconies and be on the lookout for one of the numerous Bald Eagles who frequent the treetops surrounding the house. Explore the 35 acre estate; discovering beautifully landscaped gardens, private coves, swim float, fresh water pond, hot tub, swimming pool, basketball and tennis court, complete with pitching machine. If there are adventurers in your group they may choose to spend a night roughing it in the two story treehouse complete with electricity, kingsize bed, and two daybeds. Walk the numerous private nature trails including a full mile of scenic coastline while looking for local wildlife or paddle the rugged Maine coast while kayaking. Located on the southern peninsula of Dingley Island, but connected to the mainland via bridge for a short drive to local dining, theaters, galleries, museums and shopping or catch the DownEaster Train to Boston for the day. Nearby Brunswick (according to the Smithsonian Magazine, one of America’s best small towns in 2012) and Bath are only 15 minutes away and historic Portland is only 40 minutes. Although one would wonder why you would ever want to leave. **NOTE** There is a 2nd home on the estate, not available for rent, where the owner's long retired parents live year round. The two homes are nicely separated, not visible from each other, sharing only the same 3/4 mile long private driveway and the dock, so you might see my family members using the dock to take out our boats (holler and you might get a ride!). It has fantastic ocean views and easy beach access. Seguin Island and light house, Fox Island, and Wood Island can all be seen from the windows and from the large deck. Dine inside, or outside: in the sun or under the oak tree that the large deck was built around. Listen to the surf from your bed as you drift to sleep.... wake up and see the ocean from your bed... (or you might hear the fog horns!) You can walk to Fox Island at low tide! (and some summers, walk to Wood Island as well.) We have beach chairs, and beach toys. Our planters will with any luck be over-flowing with petunias, and usually herbs too. A private boardwalk accesses the beach, Popham Beach State Park, and might take you less than a minute, even if you're carrying a picnic basket and beach umbrella. The cottage has two small bedrooms with hand painted beds: both new full mattresses. The mural-painted bathroom has a new mosaic floor, a shower, and there's also an outdoor shower. The small kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, coffee and cappuccino makers, and a good variety of pots, pans, and colorful vintage dishes for cooking and dining. It is usually equipped with a few condiments, teas, sugar, and spices. The living room has a dining table, several chairs, and a sofa. We have WIFI, and a phone for unlimited US calls, a DVD player, a few DVDs, lots of books and games, some art materials for you to use, (and art work by family members.) We have pillows and plenty of blankets; guests bring their own sheets and towels. There is also some 'fowl weather gear' in case of rain. If you're looking for spacious and slick, with many amenities this is NOT the place for you. If you like colorful, cozy, slightly rustic charm, petunias, SAND and THE OCEAN, you might love spending time in our charming cottage as do we! FOR 1 TO 4 PEOPLE. There is parking available for 2 automobiles. To access the cottage from the driveway one needs to walk up hill about 20 steps including stairs. THIS IS OUR FAMILY COTTAGE, USED PRIMARILY BY US. WE CHERISH IT, THEREFORE: ~WE REQUIRE EXCELLENT REFERENCES.~ Approximately 1 mile down the road your cell phones generally work well. There you can also find 2 restaurants with groceries and sundries available, a small library, a church, a hiking trail, and two forts to explore. Popham Beach is 3 miles long with islands you can walk to at low tide. Many people enjoy fishing from the beach, swimming, sun bathing, shell collecting, and and surfing at times. There are boat trips available. Popham is part of the town of Phippsburg, which has other beautiful peninsulas to see, a golf course, many hiking trails, places to kayak, more restaurants, BnBs, and a lush organic farm & garden store to visit. There are museums, a theater, many antique stores and other types of shopping approximately 1/2 hour away in the Bath /Brunswick area. Freeport, which offers outlet shopping and L.L. Bean is a 45 minute drive. Traveling to Portland or Boothbay Harbor can take 1 hour or more, depending on traffic. (3 hours to Boston.) We sometimes allow dogs, however, the State Park does NOT allow them on the beach. 1 mile away, in the village, there is beach access where you can take dogs and there is a wooded trail between our neighborhood and Fort Baldwin, which is also a great place to walk dogs. We don't begin begin to schedule our bookings for the next season, until Dec. or more likely: after Jan. 1. Please wait until after Thanksgiving, to inquire for the following season. Thank you!
